In hospital, Perth on Friday January 5, 2001, Margaret W. Blair. Margaret was predeceased in 1967 by her husband Hugh S. Blair, she was the cherished mother of Stanley (Heather) and Stewart (Donna) Blair. Greatly loved and respected grandmother of Stephen, Andrew and Scott Blair and sister-in-law of Helene Hall. Margaret was the daughter of the late Margaret and Stewart Hall, sister of the late Wallace and Lloyd Hall and sister-in-law of the late Isabelle Hall all of Toronto; she will be sadly missed by her family and many good friends. Passed away at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Ontario on Thursday, January 4, 2001, in his 91st year. Originally from Marysville, New Brunswick, resided and worked in Ottawa since 1957. Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Annie (Knowlan) Stafford and beloved wife Theresa (nee Doak), the mother of his children, and son Harry Jr., precious grandson Marc and brothers Charles and Dexter. Harry is survived by his loving wife Florence (nee McKenna), his son Carl (Audrey) of Burlington, Ontario and his daughters Roxanne, Masson-Angers, Quebec and Marguerite Thompson (John) of Nasonworth, New Brunswick, grandchildren Tracy, Sharon, Steven, Cathy, Michael, Carl and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom will greatly miss him. Of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 5, 2001 at the age of 71 years. Paul was born on September 20, 1928 in Essex, England and immigrated to Canada in 1965. His career with the Federal Government spanned 25 years and culminated with his joining the Foreign Service. He was a world traveler who leaves behind so many friends, accomplishments and fond memories. With his family, he enjoyed a two-year adventure living in Japan and a lively four years in Seattle. Since his retirement from the Foreign Service, he has called Calgary home and started a new career in real estate. He was an avid woodworker and kept himself busy with numerous projects. He loved the game of soccer and played vigorously until the age of 60. He went on to coach both a children's soccer and baseball teams. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Paula, and his two children Jane-Amanda and Simon Hubbard. He is the loving grandfather of Hanako Louise, whom he delighted in since her birth on October 15, 2000. Sadly mourned by sisters, Rachel Coombs and Eileen Wool; brothers, Harold Hubbard and Chris Hubbard; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his son-in-law, Steven Radulovich, and daughter-in-law, Leslie Armvert. He was a loving husband, father, and friend. Many thanks for the excellent and compassionate care provided by Doctor Wasylenko and Nurse Marguerite Robinson and all the caring staff of the Calgary Palliative Home Care Program and the Foothills Dialysis Unit. (Barry's Bay) Following a courageous battle with kidney disease, Ed Shalla passed away in his 76th year surrounded by family members at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital on January 5, 2001. Blessed with the gift of song, a sharp sense of humour and a love for all that God created, Ed was a great teacher to many. A decorated Burma war vet, he served with both the RCAF and the RAF, and was also responsible for bringing out the first prisoners of war from Bangkok. Being an active member of St. Hedwig's Parish, he was well prepared for his journey. The family is grateful to the staff of the Renfrew Victoria Hospital for their sincere friendship and loving care. Contributions to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated. It is as a result of research dollars that Ed was able to live a prosperous life.
