Son of the late Thomas Lamothe and Clara Neville of Calumet Island. Husband of the late Frances G. Martin. Beloved friend and companion of Mary Margaret Lacompte. Loving father of Christina Lamothe, Richard (Cecilia) and Peter (Mary Lou). Cherished grandfather of Binta, Timothy, Philip, Patrick, Daniel and Jamie. Dear brother of Clare Teevens (Jim), predeceased by his brother Joseph C. (Elsie) Lamothe, and sisters Carmel (Leo) Byrne and Laurie (Danny) Byrne. Tom was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School and College, an Honourary Oblate of Mary Immaculate (H.O.M.I), long time senior Executive of Morrison Lamothe Bakery, Co-owner and President of Fournier Van & Storage, former Member of the National Parole Board. He remained throughout his entire life a dedicated, loyal and faithful member of the Liberal Party of Canada. He was a founding member and Past President of the John Howard Society of Canada in Ottawa, was active in the Rideau Kiwanis Club, active as a fundraiser for the Salvation Army, a founding member of the Ottawa Youth Service Bureau and helped establish the Medical Friends of Peru. (Barry's Bay) Following a courageous battle with kidney disease, Ed Shalla passed away in his 76th year surrounded by family members at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital on January 5, 2001. Blessed with the gift of song, a sharp sense of humour and a love for all that God created, Ed was a great teacher to many. A decorated Burma war vet, he served with both the RCAF and the RAF, and was also responsible for bringing out the first prisoners of war from Bangkok. Being an active member of St. Hedwig's Parish, he was well prepared for his journey. The family is grateful to the staff of the Renfrew Victoria Hospital for their sincere friendship and loving care. Contributions to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated. It is as a result of research dollars that Ed was able to live a prosperous life. Passed away at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Ontario on Thursday, January 4, 2001, in his 91st year. Originally from Marysville, New Brunswick, resided and worked in Ottawa since 1957. Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Annie (Knowlan) Stafford and beloved wife Theresa (nee Doak), the mother of his children, and son Harry Jr., precious grandson Marc and brothers Charles and Dexter. Harry is survived by his loving wife Florence (nee McKenna), his son Carl (Audrey) of Burlington, Ontario and his daughters Roxanne, Masson-Angers, Quebec and Marguerite Thompson (John) of Nasonworth, New Brunswick, grandchildren Tracy, Sharon, Steven, Cathy, Michael, Carl and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom will greatly miss him.
