Major (retired) Andrew Martin King, MC CD on January 6th, 2001. Andrew was an inspirational spirit who fought an admirable battle with chronic leukemia. He died with comfort and love at home in Owen Sound surrounded by his family. Predeceased by father Martin, mother Marjorie and brother Stanley (Capt. RCN). Graduated The Royal Military College (new 100). He served with distinction in Korea, retired Canadian Armed Forces in 1968. He founded several successful businesses in Guelph and became a world expert in air-supported structures. Retired to Owen Sound. He leaves his wife Nancy, sons Rodger (Sharon) and Christopher and daughter Louise (Jim - partner) and grandchildren Stephanie and Nicole, and sister Maryan Shepherd (John) of Australia. Spent a lifelong career as a social worker, firstly at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal and then at Mount Sinai Hospital, Ste. Agathe. Her great conversation and enduring wit will be missed by all who knew her. At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. Cremation in the spring. David was born in Montreal, Quebec on January 8, 1916, predeceased by his beloved wife Muriel May (Watson) and is lovingly remembered by his daughter Anne (Dr. Rod McCarthy) of Toledo, Ohio and by his son David (Catherine) of Whistler, BC. Devoted grandfather and friend to Brian and Heather McCarthy. Predeceased by his parents Neil and Helen (Keir), by his sister Janet and his brother Captain Neil Campbell (1914-1945). He will be sadly missed by his brother Alex (Sandy) and his family of Toronto and by his wide circle of friends. David was a veteran of World War II and initially was member of the Victoria Rifles of Canada, Montreal and served with the RCASC, Captain for a period of five years. Retired from the Robert Simpson Co. after a distinguished career in Halifax, Nova Scotia and in Montreal, QC, his last appointment was as General Manager of Simpsons, Fairview, Montreal. The family wish to sincerely thank the devoted staff of the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital for their care and compassion. (Barry's Bay) Following a courageous battle with kidney disease, Ed Shalla passed away in his 76th year surrounded by family members at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital on January 5, 2001. Blessed with the gift of song, a sharp sense of humour and a love for all that God created, Ed was a great teacher to many. A decorated Burma war vet, he served with both the RCAF and the RAF, and was also responsible for bringing out the first prisoners of war from Bangkok. Being an active member of St. Hedwig's Parish, he was well prepared for his journey. The family is grateful to the staff of the Renfrew Victoria Hospital for their sincere friendship and loving care. Contributions to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated. It is as a result of research dollars that Ed was able to live a prosperous life. He will remain forever in our hearts (Beatrice, Gayle, Lorna, Sharon, Mary Jane, Jan, Marek and Debbie). God Bless.
