HEIKKILA, Tuure Tapio The family announces with great sorrow his death in Surrey, at the age of 80 years. Born in Finland, June 30, 1922 he came to Sudbury in 1952. During the last four years his daughter and her family have had the cherished honour of sharing their home with Tuure in Surrey, B.C. Tuure was a hardworking and dedicated family man enjoying his spare time at the summer camp. He is predeceased by his wife, Toini (Oct. 1997) and lovingly remembered by his son Raimo (Geri Docksteader); daughter Irene (Al) Turner; grandchildren Hanna and Ria Turner and Shelley Ann (Guy Noel) Routhier; great grandchildren Jeremie and Demetri Noel. With courage and strength, Lloyd Baxter passed away at home in his fifty-fourth year after a 17 year struggle. Sadly missed by his partner Kathleen Burton. Survived by his son Sean and mother Alice Baxter. Lloyd was a loving step-father to Dina and her husband Brian, Alexis and her husband Chris, and to Matthew. After suffering the ravages of Alzheimer's Disease for many years, our beloved mother and Oma, Maria Berkelaar (nee Smit), has been released in her 87th year. Her spirit is now together with the Lord from whom it was received. Reunited with her much-loved husband, Gijs, who predeceased her in 1966. She was also predeceased by three grandchildren: Shaun Wiersma, Sandra Zandbergen and Rachel Zandbergen. Dr. Robert R. 1923 - 2002 Dr. Robert R. Bower, at his Twin Falls, Idaho home, beloved husband of Eleanor; dear father of Jeanie (Tony Mayer), Twin Falls, Idaho; Dorothy, Calgary, AB; and Judith (David Powell), Redmond, Washington and loving grandfather to eight dear grandchildren: Jacob, Guy, Ben, Alex, Veronica, Victoria, Brock and A.J., passed on after a brave fight with cancer. Born in Ottawa, Canada in 1923, he was the eldest son of the late Russell E. and Mary B. (Burton) Bower. He received his early education in Ottawa. Upon graduating from Lisgar Collegiate in 1941 he volunteered to join the R.C.A.F. and served as a navigator with Coastal Command in the Indian Ocean, first with 209 Squadron until his crew was lost and thereafter with Squadron 265 at Diego Suarez. He was discharged at the end of WW2 as a flight lieutenant, and entered McGill University. He graduated in 1952 with a medical degree, and after internship and residency training at Montreal and Toronto, he and his wife moved to Pembroke, ON., where he was a general practitioner for nine years. The family moved to the U.S.A. in 1964 where Dr. Bower took further post-graduate training at Hartford Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital for specialization in Anesthesiology. Prior to his retirement in 1985, Dr. Bowwer served as Chief of Anesthesia at Kaiser-Permanente Medical Center in San Diego, California. The Ottawa Citizen, 14-09-2002

Passed away in North Bay at the age of 85 following a short illness. Elizabeth is survived by her son Paul (Irena) Filteau of Thunder Bay and her daughter Patricia Filteau of Ottawa. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Ronnie. Grandma will be lovingly remembered for her joie de vivre by her five grandchildren, Patrick, Fabienne, Michael, Rejean and Martin. She will be sadly missed by her long time best friend, Marcel Beaulieu of North Bay. Elizabeth was actively engaged in North Bay adult community mental health programs including sitting as a long time member on the Community Mental Health Advisory Committee. Family and friends attended a joyous funeral mass at Holy Name of Jesus Church on November 8 followed by a celebration of Elizabeth's life at Edgewater Towers, North Bay where she lived for 27 years. She was remembered with great fondness, good humour and delight for her love of song; her acceptance of the greatest breath of the human condition; her mischievousness and her defiance of convention. There were many remembrances of her kindness and generosity. Interment of her cremated remains with her son, Ronnie at Kirkland Lake Cemetery. Phyllis, a proud Canadian and Montrealer, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. Younger sister of Margaret, Elizabeth, Mildred, Jean, Allen, Winifred and Cameron. Aunt Pip will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their offspring across North America. She was a wonderful aunt, a touche-stone for all the family members. Phyllis joined the Canadian Women's Army Corps in 1942 and was demobilized in 1946 as lieutenant. She was a fun-loving but serious soldier who later entered nursing at the Montreal General Hospital, where she earned her RN and later her B.ScN at McGill University. She practised her nursing carer until her retirement. She will be remembered by her many students at the Montreal General and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals for her high standards in nursing practice, demanding that the patient be considered all important, and for her caring understanding of their needs. Funeral arrangements are by Collins Clarke MacGillivray White, 5610 Sherbrooke West, near Girouard, Montreal. Service in the chapel at 4 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2002. NOREEN WHELAN 1935 - 2004 WHELAN - It is with great sorrow that the family of Noreen Whelan announces her passing after a short illness at the Kirkland & District Hospital with her family surrounding her and great support from her friends. She is predeceased by her parents John and Rose (nee McCaffrey) Whelan. Noreen is survived by her caring and loving son John and his wife Jill and her wonderful grandchildren Colleen and Scott. She is fondly remembered by her beloved sister Helen Coutts and nephews John, Michael, Danny and Patrick. Noreen is also survived by her very special friends Allen and his sister Ethel and Donald and late sister Betty. Lovingly remembered by her lifelong friends; the Lachapelle, Dobson, Girard and Dolhy families. Noreen was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League; Kirkland & District Hospital Lady’s Auxiliary and especially well loved by everyone in the community. Many may remember her as being a caring woman, one who devoted her life to the community to the fullest and was known for her delicious cooking, baking and her beautiful calligraphy handwriting. Noreen was one who did not like the recognition for the wonderful things she did during her life. She was loved by everyone who surrounded her. The family will welcome relatives and friends at Our Lady Of The Lake Parish in Larder Lake on Monday, May 17th, 2004 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass time has not been confirmed as of Friday evening. He was enthused about his new career in telephone packaging, having enjoyed an earlier career of helicopter logging based in Kelowna, B.C. He is survived by his parents Sharon Cunningham and Denis Ladouceur, his brother Denis, his sister Clarissa, aunts and uncles, a number of whom attended the funeral held in Kelowna, B.C., Maurie and Mike Cunningham, Linda Ladouceur, Louise Conrad, Andree Flaxey. Many friends and former hockey players from Ashcroft and Logan Lake and former Kirkland Lakers also attended.

As a longtime resident of Matachewan, Don was a strong community supporter and truly enjoyed his life to its fullest. GOODSON, Anthony Suddenly, at The Edinburgh Retirement Residence, aged 84. Tony was the beloved husband of the late Joan Goodson. Beloved father of Peter Goodson (Carol) of Victoria, and Kim Goodson of Halifax. Grandfather of Melody, Ben and Stuart Leach and Luc Goodson. Uncle of Bob Goodson (Betty) of Ottawa, brother-in-law of Jim Turpie (Michal) of Ottawa, and great-uncle of Michael Goodson, Pamela and Matthew Turpie of Ottawa, and Andrew Turpie of Victoria. He was a brother of John Goodson, and the late Arthur, Benjamin, Molly, Norman and Richard, and will be missed by many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Tony's last few days were happy ones spent with his son Peter and enjoying rambles and good memories. Tony served with the 4th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment in World War II in England, where he met and married Joan, a lovely Lancashire lass, and in the Italian campaign. Born in Montreal, he moved to Ottawa in 1948 with Joan, and for many years was a valued graphic artist for the federal departments of Agriculture, Industry, and Energy Mines and Resources. An enthusiastic honorary life member of the National Press Club, Tony designed their logo. His personal paintings and years of fine Christmas cards are a cherished legacy to his family. RUWALD-MAJOR, Marjorie Laing McGregor Passed away quietly after a lengthy illness, in the hands of her son, in her 80th year. Beloved mother of David McGregor Ruwald (Janice). Cherished grandmother of Landon Lackey-Ruwald (Nicole), Erika and Chelsea Lackey-Ruwald. Mother-in-law of Bonni Boucher, (Larry Hackman). Grandmother to Michael Hackman. Marjorie was the daughter of the late F.A. McGregor and Isobel McGregor. Predeceased by her first husband Donald Ruwald, her daughter Heather Isobel, her son Michael Edwin (Bonni Boucher) and her soul mate and late husband William G. Major. Marjorie is survived by her dear sister Mrs. Elspeth Van Agt (Franz) of the Netherlands, and by several nieces and nephews in Ottawa and the Netherlands. Marjorie was a graduate of McMaster University. She and her husband Donald Ruwald lived on Wards Island Toronto until his untimely death in 1966. She then moved back to her hometown of Ottawa. The family will receive condolences at the Memorial Funeral Home of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 584 Somerset Street West, on Monday, July 5th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial service and interment of cremated remains will be announced at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Villa Marconi, 3rd floor staff for their love and care, to the Retire at Home Crew, to The Rev. Canon Wayne Thomas and his wife Daphne, to Alice Yoch, and mostly to Karen Mohamed and Bibi Mohamed of My Home Respite Care. VACHON _Sherry Anne, age 36 years. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces her passing. Sherry was born May 16, 1968 in Wakaw, SK to Ben and Mary Nagy. Her growing years were spent fondly on the farm and she took her schooling in Wakaw. After high school, Sherry attended university attaining her Bachelor of Education majoring in Religious Studies, Math and French. After teaching for a short time, Sherry became a full time mother devoting her time to her family. Sherry's great love for her children was evident by anyone who witnessed her life. Her life on earth was Love in motion serving God, family and church. She was involved in children's liturgy, preparation for Baptisms, the Elizabethan Society and had a devotion to the Mission of Oblates. Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are her husband, Charles; her eight children, Gisele, Joanne, Jean, Thomas, Patrick, Catherine, Pauline and Timothy; her parents, Ben and Mary Nagy, Wakaw, SK; her brother, Larry (Sandra), Nagy, Vonda, SK and their sons, Andrew and James; her sister, Laurie Nagy, Wakaw, SK and her children, Mandy, Eric and Brendan; her grandmother, Esther Nagy, Wakaw, SK; her parents-in-law, Eugene and Dolores Vachon, Duck Lake, SK; her brothers-in-law, Denis (Melinda) Vachon, Calgary, AB and their children, Manorie, Matteo, Malana and Mykylla; Jacques (Anetka) Vachon, Poland; her sister-in-law, Michele (Collin) Fiolleau, Duck Lake, SK and their children, Guy and Julie; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandparents, John Nagy; Frank and Hafia Osolinsky. The Vigil of Prayer will be held Thursday, June 3, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Matthew on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. Both services will be held from St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, Wakaw, SK. Interment will take place at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Cemetery, Wakaw, SK. A Trust Fund for the children has been set up at the Wakaw Branch of the Prince Albert Credit Union. If friends so wish, donations to the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate would be graciously accepted by the family.
