JULIE HOLMAN (NEE ROUSSEAU) Julie Holman (nee Rousseau), died peacefully at home as she wished, surrounded by family. Caring wife and homemaker to Ted for 52 years. She was ever supportive and proud of her four children and their families; Ken and Kathryn Holman, Cathy and Bob Tune, Nancy and Ian Lee, and Diane and Mark Prole. Special Grandma to Kaitlyn and George Alexander, Kim and Scott, Matt and Allison and Connor and Sydney. Born on Dec. 3, 1930 in Fort Frances, Ont., Julie trained to be a registered nurse at St. Boniface Hospital in Manitoba. She worked for four years at the Lockwood Clinic in Toronto. After raising her family, she returned to work in 1979 in Desktop Publishing at McGraw Hill. Julie retired in 1995 but continued working with Ted in their company, Dart C.P. Services as the company secretary. Friends may visit at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Road (between Eglinton and St. Clair Ave. East) Scarborough on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004 from 6-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the Bendale Room of the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 at 2 p.m. with family visiting one hour prior to the service. Following the service, friends are invited to the family home for a time of fellowship and refreshment. KEMP, Eileen Dora David and Susan Kemp announce with profound sadness the death of Eileen Dora Kemp, loving mother of David, mother-in-law to Susan, grandmother to Stephanie and Adrian and great grandmother of Ada Mae. Eileen died peacefully, surroun ded by her family, in accordance with her fervent wish to stay in her new Canadian home to the end. Her death came just two days after her 96th birthday and seven weeks after the death of her beloved Billy, to whom she was married for 71 years. The f amily would especially like to thank Kay Warr, Susan's mother, for her devotion to Eileen, and Laura of ComCare, Janet Brown of the VON, the two Marias and Christina. Thanks go to Dr. Hans Westenberg for his sensitivity and caring. Eileen was a remar kable woman. A primary school teacher of the old school, she cared passionately about education. Generations of children still remember how she touched their lives, at times, it seemed that everyone in the small Somerset town of Frome must have been taught by her. She was a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent in the Methodist Church for fifty years and when, in May, she and Billy left for a new life in Canada, the church in Frome was packed to overflowing with well wishers. If ever there wa s a life spent in service of others, it was Eileen's. Utterly determined and generous to a fault, she was a deeply caring person and no one could have wished for a more loving mother. She is sadly mourned by all who ever knew her and we shall not see her like again. A memorial service will be held in England at a later date. The family requests there be no floral tributes but a donation, in her name, to any children's charity would be appreciated. KELLY MICHAEL McCRACKEN With broken hearts, the family announces the tragic death of our dearly loved Kelly Michael McCracken. He was the beloved husband of Melissa (Hoard) McCracken. Kelly also was dearly loved by his father, Bill; mother, Rose Marie; and his sister, Christy. Kelly was born Dec. 28, 1971. He attended Port Arthur Collegiate Institute in Thunder Bay, Ont. and studied Travel and Tourism at Confederation College. He spent many years at Inter-City Ford but recently had joined his father in the family business at Thunder Bay Travel. He truly had found his niche, enjoying each working day, learning the travel business, and his involvement with the staff. Kelly’s father-in-law introduced him to fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed boating and riding his snowmachine. Kelly especially loved his family home at Surprise Lake. He always looked forward to spending time at Nan’s and Grandma Jacino’s. A highlight in Kelly’s life was the “annual father and son fishing trip.” Also mourning his passing are his stepmother, Norma, stepbrother, Craig, and stepsister, Carmen, and their families; grandmother, Mary (Nan) McCracken and Colomba Jacino; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Danila Hoard; sister-in-law, Tara Hoard; Melissa’s grandfather, Severino Piccinato of Fort Frances; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and colleagues. Family and friends gathered at Corpus Christi R.C. Church on Wednesday, March 10, 1999 at 10 a.m. for Mass of the Resurrection, celebrated by Rev. Alan Campeau. A private family interment was held at St. Andrew’s R.C. Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday, March 9, 1999 from 2-5 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel. Prayers were recited in Corpus Christi R.C. Church on Tuesday, March 9 at 8 p.m., with removal having been made to the church just prior to time of prayers. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital-Acute Care Fund, or the Kelly McCracken Scholarship Fund at Confederation College in Thunder Bay. DOLORES R. BOMBAY Delores R. Bombay, of 901 Shevlin Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 5, 1948 in Emo Ont. She was a member of Rainy River First Nation where she resided until her teen years. Her later years were spent in Fort Frances where she worked in various tourist camps. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred Bombay (Oct. 23, 1963) and Lottie Bombay (Dec. 7, 1988); and her partner of 30 years, Ronald Tucker on June 25, 1996. She leaves to mourn her son, George of Winnipeg, Man.; brothers, Robert and Darrel of Fort Frances, Ont.; and sister, Jana Mullner of Atikokan, Ont. She is also survived by her uncles, Sam (Geraldine), Calvin and Ray Bombay, and John Falloon (Bev); aunts, Annie Holborn and Pearl Stevens; and special friend, Clifford Loveday. A memorial service was held Monday, Aug. 23, 1999 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church in Fort Frances. A lunch followed at the United Native Friendship Centre. A private burial will be held at a later date.

MARLES MATHEWSON Today we lost a very special person, Marles Mathewson, 58, who passed away at McKellar Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont. peacefully with her family by her side. Marles is survived by her husband, Darwin; daughter, Sheila (Kaarlo) Viljanen; son, Shane (Marilyn) Mathewson; daughter-in-law, Lynn (Curt) Perrier; and six grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Viljanen, Eric Mathewson, Adam Schutte, and Marilyn and Ashley Davis. Also surviving are one sister, LaDonna Klem; three brothers, Buzz (Marlene) McGauley, Ralph (Doris) McGauley, and Dennis (Lorraine) McGauley; and several nieces, nephews, and foster children. Rev. Dr. Peacefully in Lakefield, Ontario after a lengthy illness. Born in 1908 of Irish immigrant stock, he was the devoted son of the late Mary Florence (Cochrane) of Millbrook and Joseph Albert Porter of the Porter Store, Lakefield and beloved brother of the late Helen Church. His boyhood years were spent attending Lakefield schools and driving the delivery wagon for his father, playing baseball and performing in local plays. He received his M.A. & B.D. from Queen's University followed by post graduate studies at New College Edinburgh. In 1935 he married Caroline Usborne (McLaren) of Forester's Falls with whom he raised four children and served six parishes until her death in 1973. In over fifty years of ministry, he served the United Church of Canada in the pastoral charges of Apsley, Canton, St. Paul's - Milton, St. Paul's - Avenue Road, Toronto, St. Mark's - Scarborough and Woodford - Annan pastoral charge. For five years he was a R.C.A.F. chaplain, during W.W.II and was Superintendent of Home Missions for the United Church Ottawa - Montreal Conference. He concluded as Minister Emeritus in Lakefield United Church and Chaplain of Lakefield Legion. His retirement years were happily shared with Cora Merle (Crawford) of Lakefield whom he married in 1976 ending with her death in 1999. He is survived by his four children; Sheila (M.M. "Bud" Smith) of Ottawa, Anne Paris (Rev. Hugh Pratt) of Buffalo, Ian Porter of Halifax (late Alice Boyd) and Helen (Gary Hophan) of Toronto. Beloved grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Brother-in-law of Tom Church of Vancouver and Jean McLaren of Renfrew. Loving uncle of Mary Greiner of Deep River, Gordon Church of Calgary and David Church of Vancouver. GRANT, Garry Armstrong Age 60. At St. Paul Hospital in Vancouver of complications following a chemo treatment for cancer. A native of Ottawa, Garry, was the son of the late Russell (Jean Hodgins) Grant. He was a retired employee of Air Canada. He is survived by one brother Rev. Leslie (Pauline) Grant (Shawville, P.Q.), niece Janet Moore (Acton, Ontario), nephew Jeffrey Grant (Brandon, Florida) and many relatives. His outgoing personality will be sadly missed by all. HINDLE, Richard (Red). 1915-2004. Beloved husband, companion and friend for sixty-four years to Thelma. Devoted father of Richard (Beverley Simpkin) and Irene (Tom Scully). Cherished grandfather of Kimberley (Eric Lussier), Scott (Debbie Kane), Lindsey and Dean. Very special great-grandfather of Ethan James. Dad was a member of The First Special Service Force, serving overseas during WWII. He returned to Canada and began a long career with Canada Customs. He was president and member of the Royal Canadian Legion for many years. He will be missed by his nieces, nephews and families. Visitation will take place at Collins Clarke Funeral Home, 307 Riverside Rd., St. Lambert, Qc., on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at the Last Post Cemetery (Field of Honor). HOLUBEK, Louise. At the age of fifty-three years, of Urbana, Illinois; native of Montreal; passed away suddenly after a brief illness in Chicago. Beloved wife of nineteen years to George Beck. Dearest sister of Barbara Holubek of Montreal and Frances Holubek of Port Alberni, B.C. Fond aunt of Scott and Daniel. Louise earned her BFA from Concordia University of Montreal. She will be deeply missed by her many friends at Wolfram Research in Champaign-Urbana as well as her friends and family in Montreal, Toronto, and throughout Canada.
