OBITUARY MARIA ANTONIA CARMOSINO (nee SABATINO) 1912 - 2009 Peacefully in Lasalle, on November 6, 2009 passed away Maria Antonia Sabatino at the age of ninety-seven, predeceased by her hubsand Cesare Carmosino and her daughter Giulia (Antonio Raco). Cherished mother of Ferdinando (Murielle Sauve), Ugo (Lina Blanco), Lucia (Stephen Mazzola), Maria (Robert Reynolds), Giovanni (Lucia Chimienti). Adored grandmother to sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. RUBERY, Frank Born in England November 17, 1929, passed away in LaSalle November 7, 2009 at the age of 79 years. Beloved husband of Barbara. Simone Luron May 4, 1920-October 9, 2009 Simone Luron was born on a farm outside Ponteix, Sask. French was her first language and she used that to her advantage when she left the farm to begin a long, fulfilling teaching career. She attended Teachers College in Moose Jaw, then first taught in the Notekeu Creek school which is near Vanguard, Sk. Eventually she moved on to Carnduff, Gull Lake, Swift Current and finally Regina where she also obtained her Bachelor of Education. She taught and loved her students from 1959 to 1979 and was loved by them in return, taking them on several field and exchange trips. In her retirement years she was particularly fond of the times when she was out and about in Regina and would hear Miss Luron, Miss Luron. Many of her former students would stop to say hello and she always remembered them. To family, she was a treasure. She was Aunty Simone to us, and even to our friends. Never having been married (although having received several offers!) or having children, she loved, worried about, supported and encouraged each of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. As children we all looked forward to the time when we were old enough to have a sleep over at Aunty's, where we would have her undivided attention and many treats, we were never disappointed. As adults we enjoyed her wonderful sense of humour, her stories about her students and travels and as always, her very giving nature. When not teaching or with family, Simone loved to travel with her many dear friends. She visited Alaska, the Yukon and Western Europe where she met many relatives in France with whom she kept in touch. She also toured much of the United States, enjoyed a Caribbean and a Mediterranean cruise, went on a trip to Australia and New Zealand and of course travelled to every province in Canada. She and her friends also enjoyed spirited games of bridge, as well as the Arts in Regina. When she retired, Simone volunteered in the children's wing of the General Hospital, her love of children was a constant thread in her life. She also loved to knit and read, her hands and her mind were rarely idle. Simone was predeceased by her parents Angelique (Lebarzic) and Alexandre Luron, brother Roland Luron, her sister Anna and brother-in-law Tony Giroux, her brother Robert and sister-in-law Laurette Luron, 2 nephews, Marcel and Guy Giroux and several close friends. She is survived by several generations of nieces and nephews who miss her dearly but are grateful for the years we had together, knowing we were loved by a very special woman. Aunty always maintained a wonderful faith in God and we take comfort in knowing that she is not gone forever, she has just moved a little further away. CUSHMAN, Doris (nee Lachance) Passed away at Windsor Regional Hospital on November 7, 2009 at the age of 68, surrounded by the love of her family. Doris was the loving wife and best friend of Jim Cushman for 44 wonderful years. She was an amazing mother, teacher, confidant and rock to Kelly Cushman and friend Jon Berbynuk, Lisa and Jamie Redmond, Renee and Bob Zimmerman. Greatly loved Meme of Josh, Jayde and Zack Dupuis; Nicholas, Alex and Grace Marie Redmond; Ben and Matthew Zimmerman. Loving daughter of the late Alfred and Grace Lachance. OBITUARY NORMA HELEN HATCHER (MORRIS) Born to Edwin & Lila Morris in Montreal on September 25, 1925, Norma shared an enlightened childhood with sister Gwen (Wulff). She met Gordon Hatcher (and many life-long friends) studying science (and skiing) at McGill University. For 64 years after they were married on 9 June, 1945, Norma grew with Gordon and their three children Peter, Bruce and Eleanor through North America's golden age. Competence, integrity and balance distinguished this modern, multi-tasking wife, mother and professional through 17 household moves, leading back to Montreal where, in 1967 she gained an M.Sc. in human anatomy. In 1990 Norma ended a career in New York focused on helping families suffering congenital diseases. Her children were successful, her gardens were delightful, and her meals were always gourmet. She stood fast by Gordon as his health deteriorated. A thoughtful and committed Unitarian from teen age, Norma found and nurtured that church in every city she graced, finishing her life with stoicism and courage at Unitarian House in Ottawa on November 4, 2009. Grandchildren Suzanne, Matthew, Scott, Erik, Carl and Martin; and great-grandchildren Holly (daughter of deceased grandson Ian) and Luke carry Norma's biological spirit into the future. Dear grandmother of Madeleine, Quinn, Shayne, Emily, and Tyne. Predeceased by her brother Ed and sister Anita, and survived by brothers Lou and Bob, and sisters Patricia and Andrea. Madeleine was a graduate of the Montreal General Hospital and McGill University, and enjoyed a successful career as a nurse and health care provider. She was a fun and loving woman who enjoyed time with her family, watching tennis with her husband and friends, and vacationing in Ogunquit. Madeleine's positive energy and generous spirit were a gift to those around her. We were continually inspired by her honesty, trust and friendship. She could always see the beauty and wonder in the people and the world around her. Heartfelt thanks to her relatives, friends, and staff at the Credit Valley Hospital, CCAC and Spectrum Health Care, who provided comfort and support during the past six months.
