McINTYRE, Maureen L. Maureen passed away peacefully on November 2, 2009 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, she moved with her family to Vancouver to begin her studies at UBC and later in Seattle, and had a lengthy career as an Orthoptist in Nanaimo. A founding member of the Malaspina Choir, she also enjoyed participating in skiing, tennis, biking, swimming, bridge and travel. Maureen took great pleasure in her never-ending quest for learning, as an active long-time audit student at Malaspina College and Vancouver Island University, and was a vital member of her book club, bridge group and the Friday coffee girls. She leaves behind her husband Peter, son Bruce and his family, Ruth, Scott, Jennifer and Glenn; son Ross and his family, Veronica and Elizabeth; and daughter, Ann and her family, Les Hunter, Gregory and Andrew Smith, Jennifer (Kevin) Lastiwka, David (Candace) Hunter, and families. Also left are brother Ward (Norah) Johnson of Chicago, and sister Kathleen (Bob) Brady, of Richmond, and their families. There will be a service at Brechin United Church on Monday, November 9, at 2:00 P.M. The family wishes to thank all those who provided such tender loving care for Maureen, including Dr. Feick, the paramedics, home care and home support nurses, NRGH Palliative Care staff, and the Red Cross. Maureen has led the way with her strength, and, in lieu of flowers, friends may wish to donate to the B.C. MORLEY, Anne Marie (nee Kelsey) Born March 9, 1945 in Nanaimo, B.C. Passed away at home on Saturday, October 17, 2009, in Sidney, B.C. Anne is survived by her husband, Frank Proctor, her daughters Maria (partner Dustin) and Andrea (partner Bryce), her mother, Phyllis Maria, her grandson Harlan, her sister Helen, her nieces Catherine (partner Neil), Theressa (partner Dave), and Elizabeth, and her cousins Pat (husband Doug), Paul (wife Michelle), and John. Anne's life was spent caring for her family. The wellbeing of her husband, her daughters, and her mother were her first priority. She had a generous nature, always willing to share her talents and skills with others. After graduation from Royal Jubilee School of Nursing in 1967, she spent many years in the practice of nursing in Victoria. In recent years, Anne became interested in the history and genealogy of her family, culminating with the creation of books on the family for her daughters and nieces. Anne will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Thank you to Dr. Cowan and the hospice personnel for the care they showed. A memorial tea will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Community Hall, 1319 Mills Road, Saanich, on Saturday, November 14th at 12:00. SAYWELL, Robert John (Bob) It is with much sadness the family of Bob Saywell announce his passing on Saturday, October 24th, 2009 at age 69. Bob will be forever remembered by his three sons, Don (Cheryl), Scott (Kim) and Sheldon (Missy) five grandchildren; his sister Lynne (Dale), brother George (Delores) brother Bill (Sandy) and sister Barbara (Rod) and a large number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was predeceased by his parents Amanda and Jack. Bob was born July 23, 1940 in Edmonton, Alberta and moved to Vancouver Island in 1962 with his family, parents and brothers and sisters. Bob worked for a Tire Company in Duncan for a number of years and then moved on to commercial fishing which he loved. He moved to Victoria a number of years ago residing at Viewmont Gardens where he had a number of dear friends who he enjoyed immensely. The family would like to thank Dr. Conway for his many efforts in helping Bob over the years. Dr. Conway is a wonderful doctor and a great caregiver. There will be a Celebration of Bob's Life on November 14th at his sister Lynne's house at 1:00 PM. Please call for directions at 250-658-2948. DOMAN, Marilyn Irene (nee Law) Marilyn was born into our lives on September 15, 1934. Sadly she left us on Friday, November 6, 2009. Marilyn is survived by the love of her life David. Together they shared fifty fun filled years together. They both shared a love for family and friends. Marilyn and David spent a lot of time travelling and experiencing new locations and adventures. Marilyn will be truly missed by David. Mom is survived by her four "kids" Jane Doman and Dan Salazar, Judy and Tom Serafimovski, John and Monica Doman and Carole and Mike Comelli. Marilyn was extremely proud that she and Dad raised four independent children who shared her love of family and life. She was a fantastic Grammi, who adored her seven grandchildren- Amanda, David, Kristi, Nati, Joshua, Jessica and Justin. She loved every moment she was with them. She will be greatly missed by all of them. Marilyn was born the youngest daughter of the late Rufus and Myrtle Law. She was known as "Sweet Thing" of their eight children. She is survived by her sister Norma Latimer and her brother Ronnie Law and wife Helen. She was blessed to have numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn was a dedicated nurse at Grace Hospital. She returned to work after many years of vacation and she rediscovered her love of nursing and the girls she worked with in Telemetry and ICU. Marilyn's sense of fun and adventure was not only shared by our family. She had a large group of friends known as the Gang, along with the dart wives and bridge club. There was nothing Marilyn loved more than a good party with friends and family. We are thankful for their love and support throughout the years. Marilyn (Mom) was a bright light in our lives. We are forever grateful to have loved her and be loved by her. You will live forever in our hearts. We love you- until we meet again. KEUCHKERIAN, Sheri - On Thursday, November 5, 2009, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, Sheri, age 41, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. HARLEY, Joyce Lillian - Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Friday, November 06, 2009 at 70 years of age. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Christine Hobin and her son- in-law Ray and her beloved granddaughter Morgan all of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, Carol and Leah Andrews (Peterborough). She is also fondly remembered by her God Children Carole Ann Mozuraitis (Guelph) and Lynda Mace (Mississauga). Joyce was predeceased by her parents Lillian and John Harley of Hamilton, Ontario. Joyce was an active member of the Unitarian Fellowship Of Peterborough where she served on the Board of Directors. She was a long time Volunteer at Edmison Heights Public School and a member of the School Council. In keeping with Joyce's wishes cremation has taken place. CARROLL, Stuart Acton - Passed away at the Helen Henderson Care Centre on Sunday October 18, 2009 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Minnie (nee Mills) for 59 years. Dear father of Diane Nuttall (Lloyd) of Gananoque and Wanda Parkes (Charles) of Kingston. Grandpa of Adam Nuttall, Kwesi, Adrian, Sheldon, Yonita, and Tyrone Parkes. Remembered by his one nephew Alan Carroll and family of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents Hanlon and Pearl, his 2 sisters Iris and Betty, and his 1 brother Reg. Stuart was born and raised on the family farm on Florida Road, Kingston Township. He was a dairy farmer for most of his life, changing to beef farming when he started selling International Stock Food. His second career as a salesman allowed him to travel the countryside and converse with his farm friends. He often took his grandchildren with him on his excursions. Farm life and memories remained an integral part of his life even after the move from the farm at age 84. He was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge for over 65 years. The funeral was held at the PAUL PAYNE FUNERAL HOME on October 21, 2009 with Rev. Stephen Ambury officiating. JOHNSTON, Eileen - At St. Joseph's Health Centre, Guelph, on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Eileen (Graham) Johnston, in her 93rd year, was the beloved wife of the late Larry Johnston (1986). She was the loving mother of Andrew Johnston an his wife Lorraine of Calgary, Alberta, Lynn Johnston of Toronto, and Susan Turner and her husband Doug of Fergus. Eileen was the proud grandmother of Margot and her husband Darren, Christie (Patrick), Sarah, and Michael. She was the dear sister of Mardi Newman of St. Catharines, and Donald Graham of Perth, and the late Jeffrey Graham. Eileen was the dear sister-in-law of Irene Graham of Stittsville, ON. MOORE, Barbara Grace - Adjunct Lecturer, Faculty of Education at Queen's University Peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family, on Friday, November 6, 2009. Barbara (nee Duckett), age 70, beloved wife of Eric Moore, for 47 years. Dearly loved mother of Kathy Moore (Gary Osborne) of Kingston, Sarah Butler (Roy) of London and Alison Moore of Cambridge. Affectionately known as “Grandma“ and “Nana“ to her adoring grandchildren, Tyler, Cole, Jarryd and Kenzie Osborne; Emma, Megan and Erica Butler; Rachel and Jessica Moore, as well as Moses. Survived by her sisters Joan Moore (Andrew) and Beryl Knight (Tony), both of England. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. The family extends sincere gratitude to Dr. Anna Tomiak and the caring staff at the Cancer Centre for their compassion and support. In accordance with Barbara's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Monday evening between the hours of 7 and 9 pm. OBITUARY Mark Everett Bandeen A.B., M.B.A. Born September 1, 1961 Died October 28, 2009 Mark was born and raised in Montreal and died at his home in La Jolla, California. He is survived by his son Bradford Abbott and his daughter Blair Elizabeth; by his parents Robert and Mona Bandeen of Toronto and Sutton, Quebec; by his brothers and sisters-in-law in Canada and Europe: in Toronto by Ian and Libby and their children Ridge, Grace, Spencer and Darcy, and in London by Derek and Bonnie and their children Kelsey, Jesse, Jeffrey and Luke, and by Adam and Elizabeth and their children Kismet, Cassius and Duvessa; and by his aunt Dr. Catherine Bandeen of Goderich, Ontario. He is also survived by his ex-wife Janice Gaynor Bandeen in California. Mark attended Selwyn House School in Montreal where he was an outstanding student. He wrote his I.B. at Atlantic College in Wales and proceeded to Dartmouth College in New Hampshire where he gained his A.B. graduating magna cum laude and as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society in 1983. After working for prominent investment banks in Canada and the U.S., he moved to California and gained his M.B.A. at Stanford University in 1987. Following university Mark worked for Genstar Capital Corporation in San Francisco and later for American Securities Capital Partners in New York. Throughout his life Mark was an active athlete playing rugby, football, tennis, hockey and golf. He was an avid skier, practically growing up on Mount Sutton and serving on the ski patrol in his student years. Mark also thoroughly enjoyed time spent with his Blair and Bandeen cousins. His sudden death brings to an end the life of a generous and gregarious young man, diligent in his responsibilities to his peers and family. He will be sorely missed. Mark has been cremated and the ashes will be scattered by his family at the places he loved. There will be a private ceremony at the Duart cemetery. HORNER, Douglas Gerald - My High School Sweetheart, Douglas Gerald Horner, age 68, of Point Edward, passed away on Friday, November 6th, 2009. He was married on November 30th, 1962 to his devoted wife Mary Margaret (Stokes) Horner and is the loving father of Gregory M. Horner and his wife Lisa (Cole) Horner, Popa to Lee Douglas Horner his grandson and grand daughters Jolene, Shelbie and Jill Horner. He was predeceased by his eldest son Jeffrey Douglas Horner and his Baby Girl Meridith Ann Horner. Doug is survived by his sisters Mona (Grant) Gibson ( Shawville, PQ.), Jennifer (Tom) Bowman (Petrolia), Janey Gray (Sarnia), brothers Jack (Belinda) Horner (Sarnia) and Dan Horner (Point Edward) and sisters in law Rose Mary Horner (Sarnia) and Barbara Horner (Point Edward). Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his mom and dad, Gerald and Beulah, brothers Clarke and William (Bill) of Point Edward and Wayne of St. Mary's, sister Lenora Dunham of Point Edward and sister in law Gaye. He was a 40 year member of Local #128 - Boilermakers International and the Point Edward Ex-Servicemen's Club. Funeral services for Doug will be held at the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE on Monday November 9th at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
