FOREST, Réal 1930 - 2001 À son domicile de Mascouche, le 1er novembre 2001, à l'âge de 71 ans, est décédé M. Réal Forest, des suites d'une longue maladie, époux de Thérèse Chapdelaine. Outre son épouse, il laisse ses enfants, Hélène, Lynda (Daniel) et Robert (Carole); ainsi que ses sœurs: Mariette (feu JeanPaul), Monique (Taly), Ghislaine (feu Serge), Louise (Gilles) et ses frères, Jean-Jacques (feu Madeleine), Gilles (Gisèle), Lucien (Azella), Gérard (Fleurette); son beau-frère Germain (Betty), ses bellessoeurs, Anita (Georges), Claire (Raymond), Jeanne D'Arc (feu Maurice); de nombreux neveux et nièces, autres parents et amis. Grand optimiste, M. Forest a consacré sa vie au service de la jeunesse et de la communauté. Son sourire, sa grande générosité et ses conseils judicieux ont grandement influencé la vie de plusieurs. M. Forest fut président international du Club Optimiste, membre actif du Club Optimiste de Terrebonne, et du plateau Mascouche, président de son entreprise, Forest Pallettes inc., président du conseil d'administration de la paroisse St-Benoît de Mascouche et membre de la Chambre de commerce de Mascouche. LEGROS, Bridget Viola 2009-10-31 Bridget Viola Legros age 77 years, resident of Hudson Avenue, went home to be with her Lord & Savior on Thursday October 29, 2009 after an extremely courageous battle with cancer. Born in Port Arthur, she initially worked in a bakery until she married the love of her life Richard, and then focused on raising their three daughters as an amazing stay at home mother. She spent many wonderful years together with Richard and they were excited when they fulfilled their dream of renovating their camp into a beautiful home at Barnum Lake and retired there until Richard‚s illness brought them back into Thunder Bay. Mom was a lover of all animals & birds and fed them all at the lake. She also enjoyed helping many people who were in need without them finding out who actually assisted them. We, as her daughters have learned so much from her. She never raised her voice but she showed us the good in everything & everybody & very seldom complained. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and shared that with all of us. Bridget also was a wonderful artist & loved to paint and create amazing items. Our homes are adorned with her works of art and even when she was so ill, she made a gorgeous gazebo painted with beautiful roses to hold her granddaughter‚s wedding envelopes & painted several paintings for family members. Her paintings are held in different parts of the world & we will all treasure them. Bridget is survived by and will be greatly missed by her daughters Marilyn (Dave) Burnside, Debbie (Ruben) Morrison all of Thunder Bay & Wendy (Dan) Penko of Nanaimo, B.C. (enroute). She is also survived by her five grandchildren Jennifer (Rob) Morton, Michelle (Jamie) Rose, Shawn & Matthew McKenzie and Janine Penko (Nanaimo, B.C.). Also surviving are 2 great-grandchildren Jasmine McKenzie & Shane Raycraft whom she dearly loved. Bridget also leaves to mourn, her sister Margaret Hencher (Pennsylvania, USA), sisters-in-law Doris Magus, Rosella Swaluk, Jessie Legros and brother-in-law Andy (Betty) Legros. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous relatives in Sweden, Finland & Denmark. Predeceased by her husband Richard Legros (Dec. 25, 1999), parents Sanfrid & Vivi Finholm, father-in-law Hector Legros, brothers-in-law Don Legros, Gordie Legros & Jack Magus. There will be a private service for immediate family members as per Bridget‚s wishes. CHAUDHURI , Syamal Ray February 1, 1934 - October 28, 2009 With the same quiet courage and dignity with which he lived his entire life Mr. Syamal Ray Chaudhuri passed away on October 28, 2009, with his beloved daughter Srimoyee and wife Esha by his side. He is also survived by his elder sister, Sati and many other dear family members worldwide, including nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom loved him and will miss him immeasurably. Syamal, known as Ray to his many friends, was born to Prabodh Chandra and Kuntarani in Calcutta, India. The youngest of his brothers and sisters, he carved his own path in life always believing in the power of faith in one's self. His sharp intellect was grounded in compassion, and he was admired for his integrity, humility, and strong sense of social responsibility. Throughout his life he enjoyed keeping abreast of world and national events, reading, poetry, nature, science, and good company and conversation. Educated at the University of Calcutta (B.Sc.) and the University of Surrey U.K. (M.Sc., 1967), Ray was a highly respected chemical engineer who was proud of having worked all over the world including the United States, U.K., Europe, Africa, and Asia. He loved Canada, and worked in the chemical and oil and gas industry in almost every province since 1967, making Calgary home since 1973. He was a valiant fighter, never complaining of any challenges that came before him. He is lovingly remembered for his integrity, kindness, perseverance, loyalty, humour, and strength. He was selflessly devoted to his family and especially proud of his daughter's accomplishments. His wife and daughter are honoured to have been a part of his life and will miss their best friend. SLOWIK, Jozef 2009-10-31 Mr. Jozef Slowik, age 85 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in St. Joseph’s Hospital, on Thursday, October 29, 2009 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Jozef came from Poland with his wife Janina and two children Helen and Stanley in 1966 to make his life in Canada. He was employed at Northern Wood Preservers for many years, retiring in 1989. Jozef enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, fishing and going to Tim Horton’s for coffee. Those who knew Joe knew of his garden an how huge and well kept it always was. Jozef even refused many trips to the family camp because "who would watch his garden and flowers". Although some trips were refused Jozef did attend the family camp quite often, where he did his fair share of yard work, splitting wood and walking with the family dogs. Jozef even attended a few hunting trips with his son Stan and grandson Stephen and was always happy when the prize moose was hung. He lived alone and still drove his 1988 Ford Truck right up until the beginning of October. He looked forward to his daily visits from his son and grandchildren and always looked forward to his daily phone calls and periodic visits from his daughter, who lived out of town. Jozef faithfully attended St. Casimir’s Church every Sunday for Polish Mass. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, neighbour and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Jozef was predeceased by his wife Janina (nee Drzystek) in December of 1999. He is survived by his son Stanley (Debbie) Slowik, daughter Helen (Mike) Mihalus, grandchildren Ashley and Stephen Slowik, Mark (Michelle) and Chris (Erin) Mihalus and great grandson Benjamin Mihalus. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009 when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass in St. Casimir’s Church at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Andrew Deptula. Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Vigil Prayers will be offered on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel. If friends desire, memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Jozef Slowik in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. MOIR, Alexander George April 23, 1925 - October 30, 2009 Alexander G. Moir, of Sherwood Park, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 years. It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of a very special man. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 56 years - Hilda. His sons: Craig (Peg), Grant (Kelly), Wayne (Deanna) and Sean (Alison) and seven grandchildren; Jill, Mark, Alanna, Matt, Keiran, Anthony and Will. Also remembered by his Sister-in-Law Edna Haygarth (England), niece Valerie (Holland) and nephew Christopher (England) and their families, along with numerous other relatives and friends in Canada, England and Scotland. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII and then moved to West Vancouver in 1952 where he drove the Blue Bus for 37 years. He retired and moved to Abbotsford in the early 1990's. SARING, Sven - Passed away October 28, 2009 with his family at his side. Born in Toronto on December 23, 1954. Beloved husband of Iris (nee Kneiss); loving father of Marcel and his wife Melissa; doting grandfather of Malcolm, 6 and Matthew, 4. Predeceased by his mother Maiga; survived by father Harry of Pembroke; brother Eric; and cousin Inga Kirsons of Ottawa. Sven's death is shocking and saddening to those who knew this avid cyclist and exercise buff, who never hesitated to lend a hand, give of his time and share his expertise. PRÉVOST, Herménégilde 1928-2009 Le 25 octobre dernier, à l'âge de 81 ans, est décédé monsieur Herménégilde Prévost, époux de Cécile Legault de Ferme-Neuve.
