La famille Restagno a le regret de vous annoncer le décès de MME MARGO (MARGUERITE) MEUNIER décédée le 14 octobre 2009 à l'hôpital de Hull, à l'âge de 78 ans. Elle était la fille de feu Léonora Martineau et feu de Jean-Baptiste Meunier. Elle laisse dans le deuil son fils Frank (Myrian Bertrand) ainsi que ses petits-enfants: Luca, Isabella et Matéo. Elle laisse également des amies qui lui étaient très chères. Il n'y aura pas de visites à la maison funéraire. Le service religieux, en présence des cendres, aura lieu le lundi 26 octobre 2009 à 14h30 en la paroisse St-Raymond au 35, boul. St-Raymond à Gatineau (secteur Hull). PREST, Tom Albert Tom Albert Prest, a resident of Devonshire Village in Edmonton, passed away peacefully at the Misericordia Hospital on October 11th, 2009 at the age of 95. Tom had moved from Winnipeg, his long time residence, five years earlier. Tom was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret in 2003, his son Robert in 1953, and his three brothers William, James and Robert. He will be sadly missed by his four surviving children Bill (Claire) of Toronto, Doug of Guelph, Larry (Joanne) of Vancouver, Barbara (Arthur) of Edmonton, ten grandchildren, and many relatives throughout Canada. Tom was born in Goderich Ontario on December 19, 1913, the eldest of four sons of Thomas Linwood and Helen Irene Prest (nee: Shephard). Tom's family moved to Saskatchewan in 1919 and he graduated from Edam High School. Tom's facination with electronics led to him being licensed as one of Canada's first Amateur Radio operators in 1933. This led to Tom joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in September 1939 as a Wireless Electrical Mechanic. He was quickly transferred to England with No. 110 Squadron (later designated No. 400) and served actively in London and southern England during the Battle of Britain. In 1943 he helped in the formation of No. 433 Squadron (a Halifax Bomber unit) where he assumed the responsibility for all airborne communications. He returned to Canada in 1945 and chose to stay with the Air Force where he served in many communications and radar capacities, including several NORAD radar stations throughout Eastern Canada. After a long and distinguished career Tom was honourably discharged from the Air Force in 1965, and moved with his family to Winnipeg. Tom's second career started that same year when he joined the CBC, where he remained until his retirement in 1978 at the age of 65.Soon after the war Tom met Margaret (Peggy) Parker of Winnipeg and they were married on November 15, 1947. From 1948 to 1960 Tom and Peggy had five children. Tom was a very proud and devoted father, and his children will always remember his interest, help and patience throughout their childhoods. Tom loved the summer cottage he built with his family at Minaki, Ontario, and Tom and Peggy spent every summer there up until her death in 2003.Tom moved to Edmonton in 2004 to be closer to his daughter Barbara. A service will be held for Tom in the chapel of Devonshire Village, 1718 Rabbit Hill Road, Edmonton on Saturday October 17th at 2:30 p.m. Presiding over the service will be the Venerable Michael Sung and Reverend Jonathan Connell of Holy Trinity Riverbend Church. The family has plans for a formal internment in Winnipeg at a future date to be announced. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Misericordia Hospital for their kind, compassionate and attentive care shown toward Tom during his stay there. "Forever 39" It is with sad regret and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, on Friday, October 16th, 2009 at the age of 90. Beloved mother of Maurice (Yvette) and Frances (John Tremblay deceased). Dear Gramma to Christine Lanos (Mike), Allan Tremblay (Kimm), and Ronald Barbeau (Judy). Dear Great Nona of Chelsea and Taylor Lanos, Braeden Tremblay and Evan, John and Seana Barbeau. She will be missed by her sister Mamie and brother Frank, sisters-in-law Dolores Imbesi and Pauline Imbesi. Predeceased by her sisters Concetta Licari, Frances Ierullo and brother Santo Imbesi. SANDERS, Mary Lilian Passed away peacefully on October 12, 2009 at the age of 73. She leaves behind her loving children Carol (Dean), Muriel (Greg), Diane (Paul), Donna (Paul), Leslie, Norman (Elaine), Stanley, and Cathy. Survived by her dear brother Patrick Sanders. Predeceased by her brother Paul and sister Norma. Former wife of the late Paul Blais. Loving grandmother of 24 grandchildren and great grandmother of 12 great grandchildren. WILHELM, Edward John 1920-2009 Passed away peacefully with grace and courage at the age of 89 on Thursday, October 15, 2009. Beloved husband of Marie (Clarkson). Much loved father of Mark, James, Jackie Glinski (Mike), and Diana (Chris Edwards). Proud grandfather of John, Eddie and Steven Glinski. Brother of Wilma of Stratford, Henry of Toronto, Raymond (Phyllis) of Barrie, Mary Davey (Bob) of Peterborough. Predeceased by brother Alfred and sister Phyllis Street. Will also be sadly missed by brother-in-law Tom Clarkson, numerous nieces and nephews and by their extensive network of family and friends. Ed served with the RCAF from 1941 to 1945 at Trenton, Ontario and Yorkshire, England. After that he worked at Avro Canada in Malton and then Statistics Canada in Ottawa. A quiet and gentle man, Ed was nevertheless passionate about his workshop and his radio-controlled model boats. Ed was an active member of the sponsoring committee that brought the Tan family to Ottawa from Cambodia in 1980 and 1986, and of the committee that brought the Bajric family to Ottawa from Bosnia in 1995. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Basil's Roman Catholic Church, 940 Rex Ave (off Maitland) on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception in the Church basement. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Ottawa Multifaith Housing Initiative or to the Hospice at Maycourt. WENTA, Rozalia (Rozy) 1920 - 2009 With great sadness the family of Rozy Wenta announce her sudden passing on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Ukrainian Villa Residence, at the age of eighty-nine. She is survived by her husband John, sisters Mary Kawchak and Anna Hryckowian. Loving mother of Hellen Bogie (Wayne), Jenny Bender (Wayne) and Patricia Wenta (Maurice Fuoco). Cherished babi of Darrell Bogie (Vancouver), Tara Bleakley (California), Todd Bogie (Ottawa), Jason Bender (Pierrefonds) and great babi to four great grandchildren. Embroidery, sewing and gardening were her passions and brought her happiness. We are grateful that she was a part of our lives for so long. We will truly miss her. BARSS, Trent Layton On Wednesday, October 14, 2009 Trent Barss of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and formerly of Irma, Alberta passed away near Bruderheim, Alberta at the age of 37 years. Trent is survived by his wife, Verlean; three children, Jensen, Evan and Spencer; his parents, Jim and Heather Barss of Irma, Verlean's parents, Claire and Felix Buziak of North Battleford, Saskatchewan; two sisters, Teri-Lyn (Clay) Copeland of Irma and their two sons, James and Wyatt and Trisha (Shaun) Rue of Vermilion, Alberta and their two daughters, Gabrielle and Kaitlyn; his maternal grandparents, Mike and Marjorie Oracheski of Irma; four sisters-in-law, Collette, Elaine, Phyllis, Jeanette and their husbands and families; his godmother, Doreen Schubada of Wainwright, Alberta; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Harley and Marney Barss; his godfather, Dave Schubada. A Funeral Mass for the late Trent Barss will be conducted on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Wainwright with Father Leonard Gartner the celebrant. Dennehy – Riley Rae July 3, 1986 – October 8, 2009 It is with great sadness that we inform her beloved family, friends and all that were privileged to share a part of their lives with Riley, daughter of Kerry and Ginny Dennehy and sister of late brother Kelty, of her unexpected passing on October 8, 2009 while on her adventure in Thailand. Riley Rae was on her journey of life to become the better person she wanted to be. Riley had just completed an intense course in yoga where she was in the final steps to pursue another course in Thai massage. Riley was born July 3, 1986 in West Vancouver where she grew up like many other young children participating in all sorts of sports and activities such as ringette, hockey, dance and drama. Our move to Whistler opened so many more opportunities for her living in this amazing supportive community, surrounded by the beauty of the lakes and mountains which Whistler offers. Riley was an avid snowboarder and also a hockey player where she represented Vancouver as a left winger at the BC Winter games in Smithers BC. The group of friends Riley gathered while living in Whistler has always been the backbone of her life. Riley's many aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents have been such an integral part of her life. It's with this love she gathered from her family and friends that helped her develop into the kind, gentle soul that she will always be remembered for. She said in her last email to her mother she was honored to be surrounded by the most amazing people in her life and she loved them all. The death of her brother Kelty in 2001 was very devastating and she struggled silently through her grief. Over the past years, as Riley healed, she became a beautiful soul on the inside…as she was on the outside. There will be a service for her family and friends on Wednesday, October 21 at 5:00pm at "Our Lady of the Mountains" Catholic Church in Whistler. Following the church service there will be a celebration of Riley's life at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Dora Annie Franson (nee Starks) 1931 2009 The passing of Dora Franson, age 78 of Saskatoon, SK, occurred on Thursday, October 15th, 2009 at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon, SK. She especially enjoyed her time at the cabin. In her younger years, she enjoyed spending her time curling, dancing and fishing. Dora was also involved in the downtown Lionels for several years. Peter Roy Pambrun July 21, 1931 October 16, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family of Roy Pambrun of Saskatoon, SK announce his passing on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the age of 78 with family by his side. Roy was born on the in the Eagle Hills Region but spent most of his life in the Saskatoon area where he worked mainly in construction. He was well known to his co-workers as the 'General'. His joy in life was his children Bill (Sheri) Pambrun, Dawn (Marty) Reimer, Louella (Harry) Crossland, Carol (Darrell) Delorme, Penney (Fred) Hurton, and Roy (Shannon) Pambrun. Roy had 23 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Roy will be missed by all who knew him, especially for his card playing and storytelling, but most of all by his loving family. BOGUE Dr. Laurence (Laurie) James 1920 - 2009 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, Laurie, on October 12, 2009. Laurie was born and raised in Lynn Valley. After attending North Vancouver Senior Secondary and the University of British Columbia, he went on to the University of Toronto, where he graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry in 1947. Thereafter, he had a dental practice in North Vancouver for 45 years. One of Laurie's greatest passions was playing baseball. Laurie is predeceased by his father and mother, Bert and Ethel, and his infant son, John William. Laurie will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Marion; his sons, Jim, Bob and Tom; his daughter, Marion; grandchildren, Courtney, Jeremy, Regan, Brent, Adam, Hayley, Sarah, Kyra and Eligh; daughters-in-law, Diane, Jo-Anne and Laurie; son-in-law, Reece Papin; brother, Don, and sister-in-law, Kay. EYBEN June "Juners" (Boulton) December 31, 1930 - October 14, 2009 We are sad to announce the passing of our gracious and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, having fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past 11 years. Although June succumbed to cancer, it never claimed her spirit or her wonderful sense of humour. She could still smile and joke until the bitter end. "Juners" was loved by all and leaves Neil, her ever-loving husband of fifty seven years. She leaves, also, three sons, Tim (Dawn), Terry and Colin (Jackie); eight grandchildren, who were precious and special in her life, Ashley, Brett, Brittany, Candace, Darren, Justin, Lindsay and Morgan; one great-grandson, King; one sister, May; one brother, Bill as well as many nieces and nephews. June was born in New Westminster and had a short career at Woodlands School and the bank, prior to raising her family. When the boys were young, she always enjoyed our camping trips to the Okanagan Valley. She loved to watch her boys water skiing and catching a couple of Kokanee for dinner. She spent countless hours as a volunteer at the Surrey Memorial Hospital, as well as doing the purchasing for the Lobby Shop, she patrolled the wards with the library and candy carts. June was an avid bowler, curler, dancer and played a great game of bridge. One of June's favourite haunts was the Isle of Maui, where we vacationed at Kehi for 22 years after the boys left the nest. Another highlight of June's life was our annual fishing trips to the interior in September with other members of the vintage car club and family. Our weekend trips to our cabin on Mayne Island were also special, as she loved to fish with our family and it was not uncommon for her to land a 20-pounder. The past many winters were enjoyed with good friends at the Happy Wanderer, in the desert. We would like to thank her many friends for all of the love, prayers and support you have shown at this difficult time in June's life. A special thank you Dr. Martin and her staff at the Fraser Valley Cancer Agency, who have shown great compassion, love and a dedication to keeping June in good hands for the past 11 years; also Dr. Blinkhorn for his endless support. MOFFATT (Ursula) Anne Passed away in North Vancouver on 23rd September 2009 leaving behind Catherine and Ian and their families. Born in Northhampton, England in 1931, her life was a subtle blend of challenging convention, forward looking humanism and traditional care of family and home. One of the first women to graduate from London City college specializing in micro-biology, Anne believed that women had a place in all walks of life at a time when this was still not the prevailing view. Shortly after marrying John in 1955, they decided to immigrate to Vancouver, where Anne soon started working in the public health labs. Though she left the workforce with the arrival of Catherine, she was always active in the University Women's Club and after moving to Montreal, worked tirelessly on volunteer projects, particularly oriented to public health. It was not until the mid 1970's that she returned to the laboratory then focusing on quality control. After returning to Vancouver in 1980, Anne became active with organizations that help immigrants, and later also dedicated herself to caring for John as he resisted the effects of a failing heart. Always an avid reader, attending her book clubs was a cherished activity in later years. Although she never lost her English accent she was ardently Canadian in her belief in multiculturalism, the potential for people to do good things if given the chance, and her love of the CBC! Anne always thought more about others than she did about herself and through this dedication she touched the lives of many. There will be a reception for Anne on October 24th. Joan passed away on October 7, 2009, at Laurel Place Hospice, in the company of her family. Joan was predeceased by her husband Dalton and is survived by her loving children: Gerry (Elaine), Dal (Dawn), Dave (Chris), Carole (Gary), Mark, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. TROTTER Lesley Lillian Ross Passed away quiet and peacefully on October 5, 2009 at the age of 61. Lesley was born in North Vancouver on July 8, 1948 to parents Elizabeth (nee Morson) and James Ross. She attended Handsworth Secondary School and continued her life here on the North Shore with trips to Mayne Island. She is survived by her mother Elizabeth, sister Barbara, daughters Sabrina and Tiffany, and the extended Morson family. Lesley was also a fixture in the lives of Tracy Cherniak and her son Dylan, and will be sorely missed. Lesley's fight with Leukemia was a courageous battle known only to her close family and friends. Her determination to not give up and fighting spirit were present until her last days, and serves as an inspiration to all of us. Lesley enjoyed spending time with her daughters on the field hockey and soccer fields and introducing Dylan to sports, reading, and playing. She always held a helping hand and thought of others before herself. Her kindness, caring, compassion, and spunk touched everyone around her and will be missed to a depth that cannot be measured. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 10am at First Memorial Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, BC. POISSON, Ernest Leon "Ernie" Passed away peacefully on October 15, 2009 at 79 years of age at the Leamington District Memorial Hospital. SCHOSSER, Jerry Bruno - December 14th 1947 ~ October 15th 2009 Peacefully, lovingly and with grace while surrounded by his family at the Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford. Beloved and devoted husband of Helen – they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on October 11th 2009. Much loved father of Wendy Schosser (Andreas Enskat) of Edmonton and Jeff (Krista) Schosser of Bracebridge. Jerry was especially proud of his granddaughter Brooklyn, who was the light of his life, and had been anxiously anticipating the arrival of another grandchild in January 2010. Jerry is predeceased by his parents Bruno Schosser (1956), Teofil Miskowiec (1977) and Mary Schosser Miskowiec (2001). Dear son-in-law of the late Lukasz (1997) and Anna (2009) Zacharczuk. Dear uncle of the late Andrew Stadlbauer (2003). He will be missed by his sisters Stella (Allan) Kirby and Bernice (Henry) Buch as well as by his sister-in-law Mary (Jack) Stadlbauer. WALKER Samuel J. 1924 - 2009 It is with tremendous sadness we announce the passing of Samuel John Walker who died peacefully on Monday, October 5th, 2009. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret Mary, daughters Mary Loraine Morrison (Bruce) and Sharon Jill Pollard (Richard), five grandchildren, Brian (Krista), Kevin, Drew, Leah, Stephanie, and two great-grandchildren, Ava and Rylan. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends who admired his presence, wisdom, humour and colourful character. Sam was born in North Vancouver January 7, 1924. He joined the Armed Forces in 1944 and was in active service in France and Germany. On his return to Canada he joined Canada Customs, eventually working in the Investigations Department and became Regional Manager for the BC/Yukon Territory in his latter years. Upon retirement, Sam and Mary relocated to their dream home at Sakinaw Lake on the Sunshine Coast. He was an active volunteer in numerous organizations, contributing his time to the Royal Canadian Legion No. 112 for many years; Canadian Power and Sail Squadron, as Commander 1990/91; Pender Harbour Golf and Country Club, as President when the Club opened in 1986; and was involved in the Salmon Enhancement Program at the Lions Park Hatchery. Sam was a proud family man who was very involved in the "girl's" Highland Dancing world. On retirement, his true love was the years he and Mary spent at Sakinaw Lake. He became an avid fisherman and boater, cruising the waters of Desolation Sound, the Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands in their three "Tartan Lassies." A Celebration of his Life will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 25th, 2009 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Madeira Park, Pender Harbour, BC. REMPEL, Vera (McMillan) - of Blenheim and formerly of Ridgetown, passed away Thursday October 15, 2009 in Chatham at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Vera was born 91 years ago in Highgate to her parents Annie Maude (Storey) and Jack Bowden. Vera is survived by her beloved husband David Rempel and is predeceased by her first husband Douglas McMillan (1975). Vera is survived by her daughters Jean Phillips and her husband Wray of Highgate, and Ruth Scott and her husband Bill of Blenheim. Surviving sons include Dennis Remple and his wife Elaine, Fred Rempel and his wife Janet, Ed Rempel and his wife Ann, Bill Rempel and his wife Connie and Ken Remple and his wife Wendy, and a son-in-law Ray Neuman. In addition to many nieces and nephews, Vera will be sadly missed by many grand children, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Vera is predeceased by a daughter Barb Neuman and by her sister Jean Bowden. Throughout her life, Vera was a faithful member of the Ridgetown United Church's U.C.W. and she was also a life member of the Confederation Chapter of the I.O.D.E. MACLEAN, Bernice Victoria (nee Virag) - passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. Loving mother of James MacLean, Charles MacLean (Lorraine) and Karl MacLean (Peggy). Dear sister of Irene Milne (Ken), Gordon Virag (Pia), Carolyn Francescangeli (Frank), Eddy Virag (Carole), Larry Virag (Leta) and Linda Thompson (Victor). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Ethan and Toby, Lindsay and Amy and many nieces and nephews. WHISKIN Ernest William Born in Vancouver on 22 May, 1922, passed away in Vancouver on 10 October, 2009. Predeceased by brother Harry, sisters Cicely and Winnifred, all lived at Lake Cowichan, BC. Sadly missed by brother Lloyd and sister Gladys, brother-in-law Stan McBride, and many nieces and nephews. Ernie proudly served with the Irish Fusiliers 1940-1947. He worked at Camp 6, Vancouver Island before moving back to Vancouver where he was a custodian with the Vancouver School Board until his retirement. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Renfrew Care Centre for their kindness and support where he spent his last years. There will be no service at his request. Robert Gordon Thomas The family of Bob Thomas are saddened to announce his passing on October 15, 2009 at the age of 42 years. Bob is survived and will be dearly missed by his two sons, Ben and Chad, and their mom Wendy; and his sister Shelley, husband Dwayne and their daughters Lauren and Lindsey Hopper. Bob also leaves to mourn his aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Orval and Doreen Thomas. Bob was raised in Saskatoon attending Alvin Buckwold School and Walter Murray Collegiate. He obtained his Education and Physical Education degrees as well as a Masters Degree at the U of S. He began his teaching career in Eatonia and then moved to the Prairie Spirit School Division where he taught in Martensville and later transferred to Warman as Vice Principal at Warman Elementary and Warman High school. He greatly enjoyed working with his students in class and coaching them in the many extracurricular sporting events. He loved to be with family and friends and one of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his boys, Ben and Chad. He also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Emma Lake. Bob participated in many sports including softball, track, swimming, golfing and the Bocce ball Olympics. He excelled in football and played with the Hilltops when they won the Canadian Championship in 1985. His interest in football continued as he attended many Grey Cup games with his close friends. Bob was very genuine and caring and will be missed by all who had a chance to know him. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held at Acadia Drive Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Dr., Saskatoon) on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so wish, donations can be made in Bob's memory to the Mr. T. CHANDLER Ronald N. November 25, 1929 - October 11, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family of Ron Chandler announces his passing on October 11, 2009 at Heron Grove complex care facility in Vernon, B.C.. Ron was born within the sound of Bow Bells in east London, England to the late Alfred and Amy Chandler. He is also predeceased by his sisters Pearl, and Vera. He has a surviving brother Alfred of London. He was proud of his Cockney heritage but in 1955 he immigrated to Canada for a better life with his wife Mary Elizabeth, (Betty), and 2 year old son Jeffery Norman. They settled in Regina Sask. and two daughters followed, Karen Elizabeth and Kathleen Elaine. Ron and Betty became proud Canadians citizens in 1961. Ron was by trade a pipefitter and was in the pipefitters union for over 30 years. He worked in construction in various locales including Trinidad, Inuvik, and all through western Canada working his way up to a project manager for Commonwealth Construction building pulp mills, fish canneries, dams, mines etc. Ron was devastated when he lost his wife of 42 years, Betty, to Cancer in 1993 after only one year in their new house in Enderby. Ron made many new friends through the hospice and singles clubs and also through his avid crib playing. Anyone who knew Ron knows he was opinionated, a thinker, fighter, doer, lots of fun, and one in a million! Left to mourn Ron are his children Jeff, Karen (Greg), Kathleen (Steve), and Grandchildren Christine, Joanne, Brian, Sarah, Wyatt, and Nolan. The family would like to express their profound thanks to Ron's special neighbours Gerry and Rosalie Almaas and Dirk Timmers, his very special friend Irma Gore and his right hand man Nehemiah Sweigard. There are no words to express how grateful we are for the care and concern for Ron shown by his physician Dr. Maggie McKnight. Also the staff on the 3rd floor at Vernon Jubilee Hospital and last but certainly not least the care aides and staff at Heron Grove cottage 6. As per Ron's wishes, there will be no formal service.
