BRAUER, Ruby (nee Silverstone) Peacefully, on Thursday, October 8, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Henry. Dearly beloved friend and companion of Andre Robert. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Paula and Avrum Shuster, and Aaron Brauer. Predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Oscar and Doris Silverstone, Freda and Anschel Sporn, Anne and Frank Hopkins. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, family and friends. NAYMAN, Morris (Moishe) Peacefully, on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, after a brief illness at the age of ninety-two. Dear husband of the late Mary (Mania) Nayman. Beloved father of Rhona Nayman, David Nayman (Evelyne Michaels) of Toronto. Much loved by his grandsons, Adam and Matthew Nayman and Joshua Wychara. Brother-in-law of Sol and Queenie Nayman of Toronto. Morris was born in Poland where his parents, sisters and a brother perished in the Holocaust. Until a few weeks before his death, he led a vigorous life, swimming and working out regularly. He will be remembered always as a man of tremendous generosity and strength with an incomparable will to survive. The family wishes to thank Norma Ishayek for her help and support in recent weeks, and is especially grateful to Nathan Rosenshein for his many years of service and friendship to our father. Our thanks also to the kind and helpful staff at the Castel Royale, C.S.L., and to the caring nurses, physicians and staff at the Jewish General Hospital - especially Drs. RYE, Robin T.B. 1934-2009 Passed away on October 7, 2009, at the West Island Palliative Care Residence. Loving husband of Carmen. Father of Leslie (Ian) and Karen. Grandfather of Philip, Mathieu, Natalie and Meredith. Son of the late Richard and Elinor Rye and brother of the late Reverend John H.B. Rye. He also leaves behind his brother Darrell (Marjorie) and his nephew Christopher. Dr. Rye will be remembered by faculty and students of the Chemistry Department of Concordia University (Sir George William University). SALVANESCHI, Olga (nee Hyrnick) Suddenly on October 7, 2009 Olga Hyrnick Salvaneschi, wife of the late Major P.V. Salvaneschi passed away at the age of eighty-eight. She is survived by her cousin Anne Salvet of Nova Scotia, her nieces Karen and Jane Hyrnick of Toronto, also Dolores Daly (Richard), Victor (Margaret), Gerald, Madeleine Salvaneschi and Fred Williams. She was Directress of Nursing at the Montreal Hubert Reddy Memorial Hospital for twenty-five years and a recipient of the Canadian Silver Jubilee Medal. GERRY , Mae February 14, 1938 - October 6, 2009 With great sadness and eager hope for the future we announce the passing away of Mae Gerry, the beloved wife of the late Howard Gerry and mother of Tim, Judi, Dennis, Martin and Kelly. She is predeceased by her eldest brother Gordon and is survived by her brother Ryall, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Mae was born in the small town of Glenavon, Saskatchewan, where she met the love of her life, Howard, whom she would share the next fifty-two years with. Mae has always lived by the strong hope and faith as held out in the Holy Scriptures that the dead will live on earth again. Her family eagerly awaits the same promise. HEBERLING , Jeffrey Spurrier A life well lived, but far too short. Jeffrey Heberling started a new journey October 6, 2009 at the age of 43. He leaves cherished memories with his wife and soulmate Laura, and children Stephanie and Cody of Rosebud. Special history with his mom, Stella Heberling and sister Brenda-Lee and Kevin Wilson, all of Strathmore. Shared his joy of farming with his nephews Ethan and Lane Wilson, also from Strathmore. Touched the lives of Murray and Paulette Dale, Caroline and Rod LaPointe, and Tamara and Joe Ternes, of Calgary and Okotoks, with his love for family. Always there to entertain with food and fun and help his family and friends, of which there are many. Jeff's new journey now takes him to join his dad Duane Heberling, where they will together admire their families. Jeffrey started his life journey February 9, 1966, growing up in Rosebud. During his 43 years, he accomplished and shared so much with so many. Living and loving the land he grew up on, brought him back as an adult to join his mom and dad in the family business of farming. Energized by the sport of hockey through his youth, carried through as he transitioned from playing to coaching and managing so many others. Appreciating the epitome of community, as he was a director for the Rosebud Gas Co-op, supported the Rockyford Ag Society and Rosebud Fire Hall, and stepped up anywhere else he saw the need. Intrigued to see other parts of the world, he traveled many lands and always planning the next adventure. And the "host with the most", with his love to entertain with food and fun. HEINZ , William (Willie) 1921-2009 A resident of Armstrong, BC for the past twelve years, Willie was born June 10, 1921 at Hilda, Alberta. He died peacefully October 6, 2009 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital in the presence of family. He is survived by eleven of his fourteen children and their spouses, their mother, Ida Heinz; nineteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He leaves behind two brothers, Elroy Heinz of Pincher Creek, Alberta, and Herb Heinz (Norma) of Calgary; and a sister, Edna Heinz of Medicine Hat, Alberta. He touched many lives over his 88 years with his unique ability to show kindness. Above all, he was a gentle man. Willie was a decorated WWII veteran, having served our country overseas from 1940 to 1945. He survived the D-Day landing at Juno Beach, and lived on to earn his greatest badge of honour: World's Best Father and Grandfather. As a mechanic, Willie will always be admired for his amazing ability to fix or build anything. If it had a motor, he could get it running. If it was broken, he could fix it - or re-invent it. Willie will be remembered by his family with much love for his unfailing cheerfulness, humour, resilience and titanium spirit. We thank him for providing so well for so large a family over many years. At Willie's request, a private family function will be held. SPURGEON , Allan Edwin June 12, 1949 - October 6, 2009 Allan, beloved husband of Rita Spurgeon of Calgary, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the age of 60 years. Allan was born in Winnipeg, MB, graduated with an honours degree in Geology from the University of Manitoba in 1972 and moved to Calgary, where he has since resided. Allan was a prominent figure in the oil and gas industry, having guided several companies to great success. Allan was very passionate about aviation, having obtained his pilot's license before his driver's license. Being one of the founding members of the Invermere Soaring Centre, he spent many years soaring the skies of the area. Besides his loving wife Rita, Allan is survived by his children, Kevin (Teresa), Gordon, Cynthia and a grandson Keaton, all of Calgary; a sister Shirley (Kelvin) Syrnick and brother-in-law Ken Rudolf, both of Winnipeg. Allan was predeceased by his parents, Isabelle and Ronald Spurgeon, two sisters, Patricia Wylie and Judy Rudolf, and a brother-in-law Earl Wylie. THOMSON , Joan Boyd (nee Gibb) March 4, 1920 - October 6, 2009 Joan Boyd Thomson (Gibb) passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on October 6, 2009. Joan will be lovingly remembered by Allan, her husband of sixty-seven years, her children, Bob (Heather) of Ottawa, David (Christine), Maureen (Rick) Wolcott and Nancy (Alan) Birch, all of Calgary. Nonie's life was enriched by her nine grandchildren, Kim (Christopher) Wolcott-Tindall, Boyd Thomson, Jason (Andrea) Wolcott, Brendan (Gillian) Thomson, Pam Thomson, Meghan Wolcott, Erin (Homayoon) Nayeri, and Candace (Ryan) and Tracey Birch, and recently by her great-grandson, Benjamin Tindall. She will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews, and long-time family friends, especially Georgie Holt of Winnipeg and Dot Walton of Brandon. Joan was born in Winnipeg on March 4, 1920. She and Allan were married on August 22, 1942. They were faithful members of the United Church in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Moose Jaw, Shebandowan and Calgary. Nonie loved the great outdoors, especially pickerel fishing at their home on Lake Shebandowan, Ontario, where she and Allan spent their retirement before moving to Calgary. UTZIG , Asim Dietrich (Dieter) July 27, 1959 - October 6, 2009 Asim Dieter Utzig of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the age of 50 years. Dieter attended Western Canada High School. Dieter studied Gemology and Goldsmithing, graduating from the Institute of Gemology in Santa Monica, California. Subsequently he received a Diploma in Jewelry, Goldsmith and Sales Management in Lausanne, Switzerland. Dieter also studied in Taiwan to become a Certified Acupuncturist. Dieter practiced the Goldsmith trade for some time and was active in the Jewelry business. After having lived in many parts of the world for many years, Dieter settled in Calgary. Dieter is survived by his parents Harry and Elsie; two brothers Richard (Assunta) and Peter (Tricia) and a nephew Caelan. Geneva Gaudet 1923-2009 'A la Villa Providence de Shediac, le vendredi 9 octobre 2009, est décédée Geneva Gaudet. Elle demeurait autrefois à Moncton, rue Lutz. Née à Moncton le 17 novembre 1923, elle était fille de feu John Gaudet et de feu Laura Melanson. Geneva était un sténographe avant sa retraite. Elle laisse dans le deuil plusieurs cousins. Elle fut précédée dans la tombe par son frère Edgar Gaudet (1990). La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à compter de 14h, le lundi 12 octobre à la Maison funéraire Frenette ltée, 88, rue Church à Moncton (858-1900). Les funérailles auront lieu en l'église Cathérale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption à Moncton, le mardi 13 octobre 2009, à 9h30. L'inhumation sera dans le cimetière Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire à Dieppe.

ROBIDOUX M. Jean-Noël 1936-2009 Au Centre Hospitalier de Granby, le 7 octobre 2009 à l'âge de 73 ans, est décédé M. Jean-Noël Robidoux, conjoint de Mme Ghislaine Bérubé, demeurant à Granby. Il laisse dans le deuil, outre sa conjointe Ghislaine, ses enfants : Manon (feu Gérard Frenette), Benoit (Lina), Lucie, ses petits-enfants : Myriam, Samuel et Alexandra, la mère de ses enfants, Claire Beauregard. THOMPSON, Billy Cole 2009-10-09 Billy Cole Thompson born March 16, 2008 passed way peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with his mother and father at his side. He is survived by his father, Billy Ray Thompson, mother, Samantha Morriseau, pet cat Comet, Grandparents, Bill Laird and Zelma Head, Darcy Pedersen and Kelly Morriseau, uncles, James Pedersen, Andrew, Adam, Andre and Dwayne Thompson, aunts, Andrea King (nee Thompson), April Head, great-grandparents, Larry and Judy Morriseau and Ray Laird, numerous great uncles and aunts and cousins. He is predeceased by his great-grandmother Merna Laird. Funeral services will be held at St. Anne‘s Roman Catholic Church at Fort William First Nation on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Larry Kroker s.j. officiating. Vigil prayers and visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne‘s Church. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery with lunch to follow at the Fort William First Nation Community Hall. If friends so desire memorials to the Northern Cancer Fund would be very much appreciated. He will always be in our hearts with his smiles and laughter. COSTA, Giuseppe (Barbini Joe) 2009-10-09 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Giuseppe (Barbini Joe) Costa of Schreiber Ontario on October 6, 2009 at the age of 84. Joe, the oldest of seven children was born on March 30, 1925 in Siderno Marina, Italy. Joe arrived in Canada on October 9, 1950, where he first worked at Spadoni Bros. delivering coal and later moved on to work in the shops for CP Rail. Joe married his love, Maria, and together they would soon enjoy 55 years of marriage with their four children and nine grandchildren. In January 1966, Joe moved his family to Thunder Bay and again worked for CP Rail. Five years later, Joe relocated his family back to Schreiber where he began working as a general contractor building basements and houses. Joe will be forever remembered by his wife Maria, his children, Frank (of Nipigon), Tony (Luciana) Costa, Laura (Ray) Gionet, Linda (Joey) Speziale and nine grandchildren, Andrew, Jennifer, Joshua, Brittney, Nathan, Devin, Austin, Amber and Connor. A Resurrection Mass will be held on Friday, October 9, 2009 beginning at 10:00 am at Holy Angel‘s Roman Catholic Church in Schreiber with Father Alex Barrion presiding. Interment is to follow in Schreiber Cemetery. Vigil Prayers will take place on Thursday, October 8, 2009 beginning at 8:00 p.m. also at Holy Angel‘s. Arrangements are entrusted to the King Funeral Home Ltd. in Schreiber. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.

MAKRAY, Laszlo (Les) Istvan - Went home to be with the Lord on Thursday October 8th 2009, peacefully in his 84th year, at his residence following a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Vila, and his loved daughters Maria (Paul) Steckley and Susan (Sheldon) Corey. Predeceased by his only son Leslie in 1974 and brother Zolton Makrai of Hungary. Sadly missed by grandchildren Andrea (Jon), Kristen (Adam), Robert (Britney), and David and great grandchildren Allyssa, Kamaria, Vontavian, Carolina and nephew Zoli Makrai. KITCHEN, Margaret - A lifelong resident of Chatham, Margaret “Marnie“ “Marg“ Kitchen, passed away suddenly at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on October 7, 2009, in her 87th year. Daughter of the late William and Elizabeth “Babe“ (Martin) Kitchen. She is predeceased by her twin sister Marion Hill, and brothers Jack, Bill and Douglas Kitchen. Our aunt, great-aunt and great-great-aunt will be fondly remembered and forever treasured in the hearts of many nieces, nephews and friends.
