HERING, James Zoltan - Passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in his 72nd year. Beloved husband of Davolyn (Imrie) for 48 years. Loving father of Janette (Chuck) and Diane (John). Forever missed by his loving grandchildren Damen, Harley, Charlie and Julia. Jim is survived by his sisters Margaret, Ruth Ann (John), Frances and Evelyn (Bob), sister-in-law Florence, also many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Frank and Bill, sister-in-law Pat and brother-in-law Jack. Jim retired from General Motors in 1999 and enjoyed many years at his cottage. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Monday, October 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Jim's life will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, October 13th at 12:00 noon. Jim's family wish to express special thanks to the medical staff and caregivers of Hospice Niagara for their kind and sensitive care during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Hospice Niagara. Jim will be forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

WELSH, Barbara Ann - Died at Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill on October 6, 2009. Barbara will be greatly missed and was loved by her husband Jim (predeceased). Dear mother of daughters Carolyn & Jennifer, sons-in-law Derek & Mike, and remembered by her grandchildren Rebecca, Melissa, Laura, Sarah and Samantha. Barbara's passions were her family and her teaching. She was an elementary school teacher for many years and had a gift for inspiring children to learn. Barb and Jim were born and raised in the Niagara Region and returned home to retire. They were both active members of the Niagara On The Lake Golf Club and enjoyed the many friends they reconnected with from childhood and the new friendships formed through the Club. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside internment service will be held. If desired, remembrances to either The Canadian Institute for the Blind or Hill House Hospice, 36 Wright Street, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4C 4A1 would be appreciated by the family. LEGEBOKOFF Brenda Eileen In Loving Memory Brenda Eileen Legebokoff, age 53 of North Vancouver passed away September 28, 2009 of pancreatic cancer. Brenda was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on April 11, 1956 to Louise Margaret and Robert Gerald Robinson. She grew up on various military bases until her family settled down in Castlegar, BC. Brenda met Peter 28 years ago, they married in 1988 and eventually moved to North Vancouver. She began a career in the shipping industry where she flourished. TSI gave her the opportunity to continue to grow and challenge herself over the last 5 years. Brenda was a kind - hearted, loving person, who was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She loved to spend time camping in her RV and enjoyed cooking, sewing and other crafts. Her witty sense of humor along with practical jokes and the unique ability to make people laugh will be greatly missed. Her spirit and memory is carried on by her loving husband Peter, her two daughters Adrianna and Anna, son-in-law Luke, and her 4 treasured grandchildren Angelina, Gino, Eric and Ethan. Sisters Diane and Anne-Louise, brothers Reg and Tony and many, many other family and friends are grateful for the privilege of having known her. PALLAS Lydia 1914 2009 Lydia Pallas passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 2, 2009 in Surrey at the age of 95. She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Linda and Virve along with their respective families as well as her many Estonian relatives and friends. Lydia was born on the island of Muhu in Estonia, lived in Sweden for six years and came to Canada in 1950 with her husband, August who predeceased her by two years and her two daughters. Funeral service to be held Saturday, October 10 at 1:00 pm at St. Peter's Estonian Lutheran Church, 6520 Oak St, Vancouver with reception to follow. BALDOCK, John Joseph March 6th, 1933 - October 5th, 2009 John will be greatly missed by his best friend and wife of 53 years, Sarah. He was a wonderful father to Kevin (Joanne), Michael (Patti), Adele (Robert) Del Planque, and Christine (Rick) Cooper. CHISTE, Lelio Mansueto On Tuesday, October 6th, 2009, Lelio Mansueto Chiste of St. Albert, formerly of Lethbridge and Italy, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 after a courageous battle with cancer. Lelio was a proud Italo-Canadian, a master electrician, a poet, a scholar and a loved and loving family man. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Zita, his daughter Valeria (Tony) Petrone of St. Albert, his son Claudio (Kate) Chiste of Lethbridge and his beloved granddaughter Gabriella Petrone of St. Albert. He is also survived by his sisters Etta Chiste, Romana Chiste and Carla Chiste of Lethbridge, Clelia Pizzato of Italy, Piera (Gino) Filippi of Regina; his brothers Nino (Hilda) Chiste of Airdrie, Gianni (Adriana) Chiste of Lethbridge and many nieces and nephews. Lelio was predeceased by his parents Angelo and Maria Chiste, his parents-in-law Giovanni and Maria Betelle, his nephews Sandro Chiste and Guido Filippi and his brothers-in-law Mario Betelle and Italo Pizzato. In order to respect Lelio's wishes there will be no funeral service. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. IACOBELLI, Serafino (Marc) June 25, 1953 - October 8, 2009 With great sadness we said goodbye to our beloved son, husband, brother, father and grandfather Serafino (Marc) Iacobelli on October 8th, 2009 at the age of 56. Marc passed peacefully into the hands of God surrounded at home by his caring family. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Wendy, his mother Anna, four children Michael (Jenn), Mark (Angie), Jennifer and Stacey (Marc); eight grandchildren Josh, Spencer, Dante, Jamie, Kate, Gabriela, Gabriel and Emilina who will hold their hero in a special place in their hearts; two sisters Lillian (Aldo) and Charity (John), several nieces and nephews and many friends and family. McDONALD, Marvin E. It is with love and sadness that the family of Marvin McDonald announce his passing on October 3, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. Marvin was born on June 11, 1934 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan. SCARFE, Robert Patrick Robert Patrick Scarfe passed away peacefully October 1, 2009, at University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton at the age of 60. Bob is survived by his loving fiance, Toni Smith and Toni's daughters: Erin and Melanie Smith; sons: Jason (Carolyn) and Justin; four grandchildren; brothers: Danny, Jim, Bill, and David; sister, Lisa Kuzma; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by sister, Lauree Donaldson; mother, Shirley; and father, Jack. Bob was born in Regina, SK, on October 20, 1948. In 1959, he moved with his family to Saskatoon, SK, where he spent the remainder of his childhood and many of his adult years, but Edmonton was 'home' to him and indeed that's where his heart was. Bob enjoyed dabbling with electronics and computers. Even as a young child, he was interested in finding ways to 'automate' the family home. In later years, he was very generous with his time and talents when it came to setting up computers for family members and was always willing to provide instruction and repairs when needed. His interest in technology served him both professionally and personally. Bob was probably best known for his sense of humour. He could always be counted on to provide a one-liner or a pun for just about any occasion. The family wish to express their sincere gratitude to the nursing staff of 5D2 at the U of A Hospital for their kindness and their compassionate care for Bob in his final days. Helen Mildred Collins 1914 2009 Mildred passed away at 95 years of age on October 5, 2009, at Stensrud Lodge in Saskatoon. She was one of thirteen children raised by John and Bertha Taylor in the Crystal City Pilot Mound district of Manitoba. She married Ian Campbell Collins at Prince Albert in 1935. Their three children, Barry, Diana and Carol were raised in Prince Albert. In their retirement years, Ian and Mildred made a new home and a happy life on a forest acreage north of Christopher Lake. Mildred is survived by her brother, George Taylor (Doris) of Boissevain, MB; her son, Barry Collins (Shirley) of Saskatoon; her daughter, Carol Burchill (Bob) of Ottawa; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ian; her daughter, Diana Rees; and eleven of her brothers and sisters. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Stensrud Lodge for their compassionate care. At Mildred's request there will be no service. ABE REDDEKOPP The family is sad to announce the passing of our very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Abe Reddekopp, on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the age of 79 years. STARK John Passed away peacefully on October 2nd, 2009 in Vancouver at the age of 76. Predeceased by his father John, mother Marika (Vrlak), brother Joe and sister Luisa (Jurjevich). His strength, humor and kindness along with his stories and caring nature will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Shirley (Wotton), sons Roger and Wayne and many other extended family members and friends. He is joining his many friends and family where he will continue to share his stories of his journey. John, born in Vancouver on September 2nd, 1933, travelled to his parents' country of Croatia at the age of 12 with his mother, father and sister. He then returned to Vancouver in 1950, where he worked in several jobs, before starting his 38 year career at Roger's Sugar (BC Sugar Refinery) in 1955. In the summer of 1966 he met and then married his wife Shirley on December 2nd of that same year. After retiring, John and Shirley cruised North America to destinations like Alaska, the Panama Canal and the Caribbean. John enjoyed fishing, bowling, cards, his vegetable garden including his prized plum tree and summer family vacations at Qualicum Beach. He also contributed time to LPBC, a Non-Profit Society that the family was involved in. No service at the request of the family. CAMAIANI, Violante (nee Mariani) 1933-2009 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Violante (Iola) on October 7, 2009 after a lengthy battle with ALS. Iola leaves to mourn her husband Cesare and her daughters Margherita (Nicolas), Luigina (Steven), Linda (Socrates), and Diana (Anthony), her grandchildren Maria-Vanessa, Elena, Spencer, William, Isabelle and Sebastian, her brother Umberto (Vincenza), sisters and family in Canada and Italy. Iola will also be remembered by many friends and neighbours. The family would like to thank the NDG CLSC and the staff of the Montreal Neuro for all their support. MANIQUET, Jean Vera - On October 5th, 2009 at 6:50 pm, Jean passed into the arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Dearly missed by her husband Robert (“Tex“) Maniquet of Angus, sons Robert (Dody) of Winchester Ontario, Roland (Sheila) of Barrie Ontario and Scott (Carol) of Toronto, grandchildren Keri, Emily and Christopher. Survived by her sister Dorothy Hannah (Ron) of White Rock B.C., sister Anna Billingsley of London Ontario, sister Judy Sauve (Mike) of Hawkesbury, Ontario. Survived by her brothers Bill Palmquist (Joan) of London Ontario, Don Palmquist (Maureen) of Elliot Lake Ontario. Predeceased by her parents Bernard and Elizabeth (Betty) Palmquist and sister Elsa. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and special family member Judy Frew. Jean was a long-time employee of Base Borden where she started as a telephone operator in 1972 and continued to work at the Information Centre at CFSATE prior to her illness. She was also very active in the Hi-Way Church where she worshipped with Tex for over 30 years. Jean was a people person and never hesitated to lend a hand or give encouragement to anyone in need. Her love of people was second only to her love for her family and for her Saviour. A special thank you to the Nursing Staff at 3 North B at the RVH. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the STECKLEY-GOODERHAM FUNERAL HOME in Barrie. Visitation will be held at the Hi-Way Pentecostal Church located at 50 Anne Street North in Barrie on Friday October 9, 2009 at 11:30 am until time of service in the church at 1:00 pm.
