BARBER, Gordon - of Port Stanley and formerly of St. Thomas, passed away on Friday, October 02, 2009 at the St. Thomas- Elgin General Hospital, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late Marie (Atkinson) Barber, Lucille (Bolt) Barber and Barbara (Harris) Barber and dear friend of Margaret Patterson. Dear brother of Russell Barber of Oakville, James of Fergus, Bruce of Barrie, Ross of Hanover, Allan of Baden, Marion Jacklin of Hanover, Ruth Pringle of Owen Sound and Marjorie Guse of Owen Sound. Predeceased by a brother Ivan and a sister Doreen Cairns. Dear step-father of Brian and his wife Mary-Ellen Bolt of Union and step-grandfather of Laura and Jonathan Bolt. Gordon was born in Tara on October 6th, 1923, the son of the late Cecil and Eva (Harron) Barber. He has lived in the St. Thomas, Port Stanley area since 1965 and formerly of Burford, Delhi, Tillsonburg and Ridgetown. Gordon was a retired manager of C.I.B.C. He was a member of First United Church and a former Board Member. He was a member of St. David's Masonic Lodge #302 A.F. and A.M. and was a Senior member (1965) of the St. Thomas Rotary Club. Gordon was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. Gordon was also a former member of the Board of St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. Resting at WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to Rotary Club of St. Thomas Foundation or the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation.

Cherished grandmother of Andrea (Wolf), Hugh (Sandra), Sarah, Matthew (Marisa), Joanna (Phil), Russell (Karen), Robert (Erin) and Michael and great grandmother of Shane, Mia, Rebekah, Zach, Mikaela and Brennan. DESANTI, Chelso - In loving memory of Chelso Desanti, 85 years, who passed away Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 at the SRH - St. Joseph's Health Centre. A well liked and well known life resident of Copper Cliff, Chelso was a devout Roman Catholic who attended St. Stanislaus Church where he actively participated in parish ministries and activities. He worked at Northern Brewery for over 35 years being part of the ownership group retiring in 1988. Chelso was a life member of the Copper Cliff Italian Club and he was an associate member of the Lockerby Legion. Fondly known as Shinny, Chelso was a real people person who had a wonderful sense of humour and a great gift of conversation which he generously shared with all he met. McLAUGHLIN, Bessie (nee Anderson) - In loving memory of Bessie (nee Anderson) McLaughlin, 87 years, who passed away Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 at the Elizabeth Center, Val Caron. Bessie was born in Parry Sound. She had been a long time resident of Val Caron. An industrious person, she had worked at the Sudbury Separate School board for over 30 years, retiring in 1987. In healthier days, she enjoyed bowling and she had been a member of the Capreol Curling Club. She was an avid sports fan especially watching NASCAR racing. She enjoyed bingo. Bessie will be remembered as a determined and strong willed woman who always influenced others for their benefit and betterment. She was devoted to her loving family. Les familles Tremblay et Chelly ont le regret de vous annoncer le décès de M. Gilles A. Tremblay décédé le 2 octobre 2009 à l'hôpital de Hull, à l'âge de 62 ans. Il était l'époux de Corine Chelly et le fils de feu Bernard Tremblay et de feu Jeanne D'Arc Arcand. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil sa fille Swanie Grégoire (François Guinois) ainsi que son petit-fils Izako et sa petite-fille Kahili. Il laisse également ses frères et soeurs: Nicole (Gilles), Johanne (Serge), Monique (Arthuro), Michel (Anita) et Rachel (Joseph); sa belle-grand-maman Berthe Seiderman (feu Charles); ses beaux-parents: Jacques et Michelle Chevalier; son beau-frère Fabrice (Anik); sa belle-soeur Nathalie (son fils Yonathan) ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces, cousin(e)s et ami(e)s. Also survived by two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews in the Ukraine. Michael left home at age thirteen to work in a neighbour's orchard and became a factory worker during the war. After immigrating to England he ventured to Canada where he worked for many years at Hershey Canada in Smiths Falls. He was quite proud of his gardening and wine making expertise and his love of animals, especially all cats and dogs, became a strong interest for him before becoming incapacitated by a stroke. MORGAN, Gordon Gordon Morgan (92 years young) passed away on October 4, 2009 at his home in Ottawa. Gordon was born in Ottawa on February 20, 1917 where he lived most of his life. He served in WWII in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he met his beautiful future wife Terry. Terry and Gordon were married soon after they met and enjoyed many happy decades together. Terry passed away in March 2002. On his return to Ottawa after the war, he joined Ontario Hydro, where he retired after 34 years and continued to keep in touch with his Hydro colleagues. Gordon took up playing badminton when he was 12 years old and became an avid player. As a long term RA member, he made many close friends and continued to play competitively until he was 86 years old. At 86, he won the "80 plus" men's doubles at the Canadian Masters Championships in Montreal. RA members remember him as a two time club champion in men's doubles (1964 and 1970). In his later years, he switched to playing Bridge at the RA and the Bridge Connection and enjoyed playing almost daily. He was a serious sports fan and enjoyed watching sports on his TV with his cat Buddy on his lap. Gordon was the loving father of Carol Morgan (Toomas Vilmansen), Kenneth Morgan (Loreta Bajada), and his grandson Michael. Visitation will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod St, Ottawa on Wednesday October 7 from 2pm to 4pm and in the evening from 7pm to 9pm. The funeral service will be at the same location on Thursday October 8 at 11am. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. JANZEN , Henry Henry Janzen of Penticton went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2009 at the age of 81 years. Henry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Margaret Janzen of Penticton; two children, Debra Anne (Terry) Britton of Calgary and Janet Ruth (Norm Kling) Janzen of Nanaimo; five grandchildren; Letesha (Sean Lund) Hall of Elma, WA, Shanon (Jake Moyer) Hall of Maple Ridge, Andrew, Jack and Sarah Britton all of Calgary; three great-grandchildren, Jayla, Liam-Henry and Presley. Henry was sadly predeceased by his son Gary Stephen Janzen; sisters Erna Bukowski and Anne Poetker. Henry worked at Flavelle Cedar Mill for many years before retiring in 1989. He loved the outdoors which included hunting, fishing and his tree farms as well as travelling the world and working with his stained glass. Henry was very dedicated to his wife and family and was devoted to Christ and the Church. Un conjoint, un père, un grand-père, un oncle, un ami, un homme juste et bon, un homme de foi. Il a accompli sa mission sur terre, mais il sera toujours là pour nous. Au revoir Jean Paul. À l'hôpital St-Sacrement, le 2 octobre 2009, à l'âge de 91 ans et 10 mois, est décédé monsieur Jean-Paul Brière, époux de dame Irène Vaillancourt. Il demeurait à Québec. Selon ses volontés, il ne sera pas exposé. Un service sera chanté, en présence du corps, le mardi 6 octobre 2009 à 14h en l'église St-Jean-Baptiste-de-la-Salle (2550, rue Biencourt, Ste-Foy) où la famille recevra les condoléances une heure avant la cérémonie. L'inhumation se fera au cimetière Belmont. Il laisse dans le deuil outre son épouse, sa fille Lise (Yvan Joyal) et était le père de feu Hélène.
