Il était le fils de feu Mme Flore Tremblay et de feu M. Ivan Savinsky. MELLICK, Laurence (Larry) Wayne - July 24, 1936 - Aug. 29, 2009 - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Larry at the Stedman Community Hospice. Larry passed away peacefully and with dignity after a long and courageous battle with Leukemia and Lymphoma. He was surrounded by his loving family and the Rev. Randy MacKenzie. Larry was the son of the late Hannah Jane and Harvey Glen Mellick. He was a quiet, wise, brave, intelligent man and a shinning example of a perfect gentleman with great integrity. Larry could fix anything and was always more than willing to lend a helping hand. Larry leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife Laurel “Marie“ (Gillett) Mellick. He was the cherished father of Laurel (Jeff) Gofton, Virginia Beach, VA and Jeff (Brandy) Mellick, Calgary, AB. ELLIOTT, Kenneth Ronald - Passed away at the Hamilton General Hospital Friday August 28, after saying goodbye to his family. Ken battled cancer for the past 18 months. Ken was predeceased by his wife Rita, parents Charles Edward & Marjorie Millicent, his brother Edward & his sisters-in- law (Gail, Arlene, Doris, Pranita) & nephew Gary. Ken is survived by his children Wayne (Karen) & Lori (Kelly), his grandsons Dylan, Brandon, Jordan, Cory, Christopher & Anthony. June Elliott and nephew Steven & niece Sharon. Ken was the youngest 33 degree mason in Canada at age 22 years. A Shriner as well & proudly wore his ring. Among Ken's many business ventures was recycling old ships. He was a recognized authority. Ken was also a Hamilton Harbour Commissioner for ten years, during which, Hamilton Harbour became financially self- sufficient. Also a Hamilton Industrial Commissioner, Ken years in office, saw much of the harbour fully developed. Ken was a unique individual who loved people. A tireless worker, Ken's last venture was a non-profit org, to benefit the homeless, the hungry & needing medical care. Business's Ken co-founded with Wayne & Lori, continue to operate with all of his 5 grandsons. Ken will be sadly missed. Born in Germany, Margarete came to Canada in 1956 and she married Fred Henschel in 1959. She and her husband were longtime Wahnapitae residents where they worked hard on their hobby farm. She had a wonderful green thumb that produced beautiful flowers and bountiful vegetables. She enjoyed reading. Margarete was devoted to her loving family and she was happiest when in their company. A good natured person who will be remembered as a good spirit whose light and love guided and inspired her family, neighbours and friends. Beloved wife of Fred Henschel, predeceased 2006. DICK, Mary Passed away quietly and peacefully at home in Waterloo on Saturday August 29th, at the age of 81, surrounded by the love and care of her family. She was the dear mother of Marly Penner and Paul Berg-Dick; (pre-deceased by his wife Betty Jean Berg-Dick), the loving grandmother of Emily Berg and Meredith Bigham, with husband Daniel; and caring great-grandmother of Eli. Mary was a devoted and loving wife to William Dick, who pre-deceased her in 2002. Throughout her teaching career, Mary touched the lives of numerous children in Toronto, Ottawa, and the Waterloo area, demonstrating each day her care and love for every child she met. Her motto was "Once we can make children feel good about themselves, they will then be able to learn". She was also a passionate advocate for special children in her role as a teaching consultant, ensuring whenever possible that appropriate resources and programs would be in place. Her kind and gentle manner, her friendly smile, coupled with a twinkle in her eye and quick wit, together with her generosity and compassion to others will be sorely missed by all. She was like a sister, a mother, and a grandmother to so many. Her gracious hospitality ensured that everyone felt welcome in her home in Waterloo, and at her very favorite place, the cottage on the shores of Lake Huron close to Kincardine, where she spent the past twenty-four summers. Special thanks to Dr. Elisabeth Betker, Joy Hancock from the Wellness Centre at Luther Village, and Mary from the Palliative Care Team. Memorial visitations will be held at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W in Kitchener, on Monday evening from 7-9, Tuesday afternoon from 2-4, and Tuesday evening from 7-9. BOZOWSKI , Mary (nee Prystay) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Bozowski on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the age of 102 years. Mary was born in Delawa, Poland, in 1907, the same year the church in the village was built. She immigrated to Saskatchewan to work on her father's farm. After a year she moved to Lethbridge to live with her Aunt and Uncle. Mary met and fell in love with John and was married November 3, 1929. They moved to New Castle in 1937, East Coulee in 1941, and moved to Calgary in 1965. She worked at the Foothills Hospital for ten years in dietary. Mary was a renaissance woman and was an excellent cook, baking pies, cakes and cinnamon buns. She also crocheted, knitted, sewed clothing, weaved rugs, planted a huge garden and enjoyed canning and freezing her fruits and vegetables. Mary is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jennie; grandchildren, Bonnie, Wayne (Yvonne), Warren (Trudy) and Kim (Stan) and ten great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her sister Rose, son Freddie (1936), husband John (1981) and son Vic (1998). He attended the University of Toronto then practised dentistry in Belleville for 49 years. John served for many years on the Nicholson Catholic College Board and was a long time member of the Bay of Quinte Curling and Golf Clubs. John was a gentleman of intelligence, strong faith, wit and good humour. He will be greatly missed by family and many friends. He is also survived by his half siblings Joan (John) McLean, Lynn (Elsie) Thompson, Lyle (Ruth) Thompson, Beverley (Norman) Welk, Faye (Glen) Kinsella, and Frank Thompson. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and friends. WHITNEY, Etta Peacefully in hospital at Carleton Place, Ontario on Friday August 28, 2009, with her family by her side, at the age of 85. Predeceased by her husband Bob. They moved to Ontario after the war and finally settled in Carleton Place in 1969. She enjoyed knitting, cards, her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and living on Catherine Street.
