LOCKE, Allister Lloyd “Al” - (Nortel /retired) Passed away at the Kingston General Hospital ICU, with his family by his side, on Saturday August 15th, 2009. Beloved husband to Ruth Locke (married for 56 years) who resides at Picton Manor. Al will be missed by his wife Ruth, daughter Judy and son-in-law John, grandchildren; Lara, Zachary and Kyla, brother-in-law Andy Clarke and wife Betty, nephew David Clarke, his wife Janet and family, niece Cynthia Clarke and family. WHITNEY, Earl Stanley The Whitney family are sad to announce the passing of Earl, resident of Barrhaven Manor on Monday, August 17, 2009 in his 97th year. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Gwen (Meldrum) and their four sons, Wayne (Faye) of Manotick, Barry (Juliann) of Windsor, Mel (Linda) of Penticton, BC, and Jeff (Sylvie) of San Jose, California. Proud grandfather of Stephanie, Kristen, Christopher, Matthew, Lara, Ben and Jessica and great-grandfather of Lexi, Micheal and Zahary. Brother of Harold of Cornwall. Predeceased by his parents Russell Whitney and Mary Ellen Carpenter, brothers Percy, Oral, Irvin, Brentley, and sisters Nona and Ola. Earl was born January 12, 1913 in Milles Roches, Ontario. Né le 13 juin 1916 à Saint-Antoine, il était le fils de feu Maxime W. et Alice (Léger) Cormier. Il laisse dans le deuil son fils, Roger Bourque; sa bru, Margaret; sa petite-fille, Suzanne Bourque (Daniel Cormier) de Moncton; deux frères: Zoël (feu Bertha) et Raymond (Viola); trois soeurs: Rita LeBlanc (Fred), Leona Smith (feu Donald) et Edmée Lainesse (Maurice); une belle-soeur spéciale, Marguerite, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Il était un ancien combattant de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Vera Proud (nee Willis), Charlottetown Peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home, on Monday, August 17, 2009, of Vera (Willis) Proud of Kingston, age 86 years. Beloved wife of the late Willard Proud and dear mother of Nora (David) Jenkins, Hubert (Mary Jane Grant) Proud and Florine Proud; cherished grandmother of Krista (Graham) Swan, Heidi (Bruce) Lusby, Sarah (Jeff) Wheeler, Jamy-Ellen (Michael) Klenavic and Joshua (Amanda) Proud. Vera was delighted by nine great-grandchildren. She is survived by brothers, Fulton (Vera) Willis and Earl (Georgie) Willis and by sister-in-law, Blanche Willis. Atlantic Baptist Home on Sunday, August 16, 2009, of Margaret “Peggy” Turriff (nee MacFadyen) of Charlottetown and formerly of Metis Beach, Quebec. Margaret was born on April 30, 1923, and grew up in Turriff, Scotland. She immigrated to Canada as a war bride in 1946. Dear mother of Richard Turriff (Mimi), Raymond Turriff (France), Grant Turriff (Martine), Joanne Dempsey (Brian) and Judy Proud (Gordon). Mother-in-law of Sharon Turriff. Lovingly remembered by her 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Noel Turriff; by her son, Scott; and by her grandson, Timothy. WILKES, Arthur C. 2009-08-18 Mr. Arthur C. Wilkes, age 62 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away on August 15, 2009. Born September 21, 1946, Art was one of the first bicycle messengers in Port Arthur. Being the oldest sibling, he helped his parents watch out for his younger brothers and sisters as they grew up. In his teens, he was an award winning sea-cadet with H.M.C.S Griffon (Thunder Bay Vindictive). Art worked construction for many years as a truck driver, loader operator and any machine that moved with various local companies. He would eventually return to school and attain his stationary engineering credentials. Honoured by the government of Ontario, Arthur was an avid volunteer for much social service organization such as the Thunder Bay District Housing Authority and Meno.B. Family Services. His biggest passion was music, playing bass & guitar since the early 60‚s to present with numerous bands and individuals both locally and across North-Western Ontario. Art was a traditional man who paid his way by hard work and friendship. Art will be sadly missed by his son, Sean Stevens, daughter Autumn Stevens (Ray Nobis), Susan Stevens; grandchildren Brennon, Tyrell, Lily-tae, Storm, and Louis; siblings Caren Slade, Myrna Benka (Milan), Kenneth (Kelowna), David and Warren Wilkes (Marie); numerous nieces and nephews; best friend Butch Boyer (Mary) and countless others. He was predeceased by parents Charles and Edna Wilkes brother Lawrence and sister Tessa. SAVIOJA, Arvo 2009-08-18 Mr. Arvo Aulis Savioja passed away on Saturday August 15/09 at home with his family at his bedside. Born in Karvia Finland on July 4,1931 he came to Canada in 1956 with his wife Eevi. Together with their children they worked, hunted, fished and enjoyed the outdoors as a family. Arvo was employed as a carpenter for over 40 years and retired at the age of 63. He is predeceased by his parents Arvi and Laimi Savioja, his son Ari Savioja, and his cousin Martti Savioja. Arvo is survived by his wife Eevi of 54 years, son Jouko (Marlene), daughter Riitta Savioja-Butschler and grandchildren Kaija, Mikko Kyle and Katriina. He is also survived by 3 brothers, 1 sister and numerous other relatives in Finland and Nipigon. Private funeral services were held on Monday August 17/09 with interment to follow at Riverside cemetery. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of their choice.

REGULY, Catherine 2009-08-18 Mrs. Catherine (Kay), Age 86 years passed away peacefully at Grandview Lodge August 15, 2009. Kay was born in Manitoba on January 13, 1923. She was an active member of St. Agnes CWL and the Jolly Jills, also a lifetime member at the Slovak Legion Br #129 and the DaVinci Principe de Piemonte Society. WILSON, Ron - 1935 ~ 2009 Mr. Ronald George Wilson, beloved husband of Mrs. Sheila Wilson, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the age of 74 years. Ron will be remembered for his great sense of humour and positive attitude. These qualities reflected in his outlook on life - when asked how he was, his response was always 110%. A man of his character drew the attention of those around him. He was looked up to by many and was deemed the “favorite” of his many grandchildren. Ron was a member of the RCAF in Cornwall, ON, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Medicine Hat Lodge 1073 and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 6 in Redcliff. He had many interests including Blue Jays baseball and watching NHL to name a few. Ron was an avid fisherman and was at his happiest when boating on the St. Lawrence River with Sheila. He will be deeply missed by his wife Sheila; children, Terry Billings (Bob Seguin) and Tom (Anne) Wilson; additional children through marriage, Shawn (Patricia) Burtenshaw, Richard ‘Brent' (Rebecca) Burtenshaw, Cheryl Burtenshaw (Ny-Al Helman) and Trevor (Kathy) Burtenshaw; brothers, Bill (Heather) Wilson and Frank (Colleen) Wilson and a sister, Patsy McGregor; 18 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. CROFT, Terrance (Terry) - It is with great sadness the Croft family announces the passing of Terrance 'Terry' Croft at home with his family by his side, at the age of 69. Beloved husband of Mary (Ferrara) Croft. Cherished and devoted father of the late Michael (1997), Susan Croft (Ernie Benjamin),John (Doris), Jeff (Nathalie Hamelin), and Daniel (Donna Druckmuller). Terry will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Tony, Roxanne, Stephanie and Cali. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Carolyn Pelley (Ken) and many in- laws nieces and nephews. Mr. Croft was predeceased by his parents Everett and Adeline Croft. Terrance was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and loved shuffle board, playing the guitar, hockey, baseball and being with friends and family.
