ARMSTRONG, John Lloyd Died at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa on Saturday, February 28, 2009, in his 97th year. Husband of the late Olive Elizabeth for 64 years. Father of Richard (Frances) of Erin, Ontario, and Jennifer Suddaby (Roderick) of London, England. Grandfather of Edward (Stephanie) of Mississauga, Ontario, Kathleen French (David) of Guelph, Ontario, Alexander Suddaby of London, England, and Julian Suddaby of New York, U.S.A. Great Grandfather of Matthew French of Guelph. Lloyd was formerly a Professional Engineer, and worked at the Northern Electric Company (now Nortel Networks). He was born on January 13, 1913 in Shawville, Quebec, and is predeceased by two sisters. Cremation took place in March. Relatives & friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair, & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road), Ottawa, on Saturday, July 18, 2009, after 12 noon until Service time in the Chapel at 2 P.M. BARKLEY, John Robert (Bob) After a courageous, year long battle with cancer, Bob left us peacefully, on July 3rd, 2009, with his loving wife by his side, at Providence Healthcare Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Loving husband and best friend to Francoise Barkley (nee de Courville Nicol), beloved father to Tracy McClelland (Alan), Brent (Suzanne), Lynn Kingsbury (Andy) and Julie Choquette. Cherished and much loved Poppa to Sarah, Carolynn, Michael, Londe, Calla, Russell and Aaron and Great-Poppa to little Ava. Dear brother to Dwight (Edith), and Eveleena, and brother-in-law to Jacques de Courville Nicol (Michelle), Helene Hughes (Donnell) and Suzanne de Courville Nicol. He will be fondly remembered by his many nephews and nieces and sadly missed by his many friends who were extremely supportive especially in his last year. PETTIGREW, William Robert (Bill) In Hospital on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Dear husband of the late Edith Pettigrew. Devoted and loving father of Lynn Quinn (Jim). After 38 years, Bill retired from Canadian Pacific in 1988 as Director of Foreign Freight and he was very involved with the Montreal Traffic Club and was a founding member of the Vintage Automobile Club of Montreal. In 1999, Bill and Edith followed Lynn to Ottawa where he became an active member of the Antique Auto Club of Ottawa. He attended many shows with his prized 1927 Erskine Studebaker and 1960 Nash Metropolitan. For many years, Bill served as an usher at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Bill will be greatly missed by Meaghan and Aaron and his extended New Brunswick Quinn family. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all. Memorial Mass will be held on Friday July 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church (44 Rothesay Drive, Kanata). A Reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Private family interment. MORENCY, Carol 1928-2009 Passed away on July 6, 2009, at the Montreal General Hospital, after suffering a stroke at home on June 10, 2009. She will be sadly missed by her many close friends and cousins. She lived a long and full life and travelled extensively. She will be remembered for her love of travel and her desire to help others, directly through her volunteer work assisting elderly members of her community and indirectly through her contributions to charities, especially the Montreal Children's Hospital where she enjoyed her career as a physiotherapist and was the Head of the Physiotherapy Department for many years. HENSON , Charles Leslie (Jerry) Mr. Jerry Henson, of High Country Lodge, Black Diamond, passed away peacefully after a brief and sudden illness at the Oilfields Hospital in Black Diamond on July 6, 2009. Jerry is survived by his loving daughter Terry Dale (David) Short, Brampton, Ont., his sisters Edna Hudson, Edmonton and Madge Hornsby, Ponoka and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Ina Patricia Henson on March 14, 1989 and also by Jerry Sullivan. Jerry was a proud member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 496. HOLT , Evenhart (Ed) December 22, 1915 - July 3, 2009 Evenhart (Ed) Holt of Calgary passed away on Friday, July 3, 2009 at the age of 93 years. Born in Seven Persons, AB, Ed dedicated his life to his passion for his trade of carpentry. Although he never married, he maintained contact with his siblings and will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Ed is survived by his sister, Hanna Osborne of Medicine Hat, her children, Joyce and Barry both of Calgary and Norine Moore of Medicine Hat; his nephews, Garry Graff of Cochrane and Brent Graff of Calgary; niece Linda Park of Lethbridge; sisters, Muriel Pederson of Olds, Elsie Kidd of Edmonton; and brother Doug Greenough of Sarnia, ON. WEINMASTER , Eric Alexander August 25, 1917 - July 5, 2009 Eric Weinmaster passed away peacefully at the Chinook Hospice surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the age of 91 years. Eric was born and raised in Rhein, SK. He served in the Canadian Army during World War II. Eric and Olga have lived in their home in Parkdale since 1952. He worked for Parkdale Heating for many years and upon his retirement he was an active member of the Parkdale Nifty-Fiftys Club. Eric is survived by Olga, his loving wife of sixty-three years; his son Douglas; his daughter Elaine (Rod) Hale; his sisters Olga Liebrecht and Laura Osmak; as well as many nieces and nephews. DOSKOTCH, Steven 2009-07-08 Mr. Steven Doskotch, age 83 years a resident of Roseview Manor, 99 Shuniah Street, passed away at his residence on June 24, 2009. Steve is survived by his sister Ann Zale and her family. He was predeceased by his father Philip and mother Ksenia Doskotch and by his twin brother William (Bill). STRBAVY, Sophie 2009-07-08 Strbavy It is with great sadness that the family of Sophie Strbaby announce her passing on Sunday, July 5, 2009. Sophie was born on February 6, 1921 in Fort William and was a lifelong resident. She initially worked for Can-Car and then Chapples Department Store. She spent the remainder of her career working for the Daily Times Journal which later became the Chronicle Journal. Sophie is survived by her brother Peter Strbavy (Inga) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Martin and Theresa Strbavy, brothers John, Andrew and Joseph Strbavy, sisters Theresa Strbavy and Mary Butvin and nephew William Butvin. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2009 when friends and family will gather at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Peter’s Church for Funeral Mass celebrated by Rev. Wayne Bolton s.j. Rose Marie Kerstens passed away on June 22nd, 2009 at the age of 63 with her family by her side. Survived by her loving son Kevin, his wife Karen, her cherished grandchildren Harper and Paisley, her younger brother Tom Gallivan and many other extended family members and close friends in both Canada and Virginia. Sadly predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Kerstens. Rose Marie was born and grew up in New Brunswick. Following her marriage to Ken, she dedicated her life to her family and raising Kevin, living in Ottawa, Comox and Kingston. She and Ken then moved to Virginia, but Rose Marie always kept Canada in her heart. She was a nurse and in all aspects of her life and loved caring for others. Her greatest joy was spending time with those closest to her - particularly Harper and Paisley who were her kindred spirits. She loved RVing, making new friends, staying up late to chat, her favourite TV shows and hockey. Our deepest thanks to Dr. Jan McIntosh and the staff from Kelowna General Hospital and the Central Okanagan Hospice House for befriending and caring so compassionately for Rose Marie and to all of her caregivers in Virginia. DARWICHE Châtelain, Lise 1957 2009 Décédée le 5 juillet 2009 à l'âge de 52 ans. Lise était originaire de Vanier et résidente de Beaconsfield, Québec. Femme d'affaires, voyageuse extraordinaire aux quatre coins du monde, avec son sourire contagieux, elle a charmé tous ceux et celles qu'elle a rencontrées. Elle lègue l'héritage d'une mère et d'une femme dévouée à ses proches et nombreux amis. Gracieuse même dans sa maladie, son optimisme, sa compassion et sa joie de vivre ne l'ont pas quittée jusqu'à la fin de ses jours. DUVAL, Ronald Aurel Francis - The family announces with great sadness the passing of Ronald Aurel Duval, aged 75, in Comox, BC on Friday, July 3, 2009. Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marie, and four children, Toni (David), David (Terry Vadeboncoeur), Gordon (Johanna Socha) and Ronnie (Carol), along with four grandchildren, Derek, Erin, Kurtis, Travis, and one great grandchild, Jayden. Ron is also survived by his two brothers, Norman of Campbell River, BC and David of North Vancouver. He was predeceased by his father Aurel in 1965 and his mother Mabel (nee Kendall) in 1987. Ron served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for 24 years in Germany and Canada before retiring at CFB Comox. A quiet, gentle and decent man, Ron was a double amputee who learned to walk unassisted on prosthetics in his late 50s. He provided counsel and inspiration to many amputees who struggled with the indignity of losing limbs late in life. Besides chasing after the elusive salmon off the Comox shores and enjoying reading about and watching the natural world around him, Ron particularly loved driving; he and Marie drove across Canada and back no less than 17 times! Ron passed away surrounded by his loving family whose exemplary care and compassion comforted him during his final days. The family would especially like to thank the staff of the third floor of St. Joseph's Hospital in Comox for their professional help and compassion. A celebration of Ron's life will be held in Comox at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart chapel at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 11 followed by a reception at Parish Hall on the base. All friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

WHITE, Lois Hilda - At Cassellholme, on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Lois Dunsmoor, was the beloved wife of Robert Prentice White, she was 82 years old. Loving mother of Robert White of Hamilton, Cathy and her husband Brian Coughlin of Powassan and Nancy and her husband Denis Thibeault of North Bay. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Brad (Tania), David (Sarah), Terri-Lyn Greg), Lori-Ann (Andrew) and by her great grandchildren Jodi, Thomas and Emma. Lois was predeceased by her great grandson Dylan, by her parents Albert and Annie Dunsmoor and by her sisters Marie, Freda, Dorothy and Ruby. Her family will receive friends at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23 Ladies Auxiliary performing a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM. VIRTUE, James Alexander - Jay and Mark Virtue sadly announce the passing of their much loved Dad Jim, a man who touched many lives in a warm and friendly way. Jim died at the BGH on Monday, July 6, 2009 in his 66th year in the presence of his 2 sons and loved black lab Daisy. He was predeceased by his loving wife Lena (nee Poye) in 1997. Much loved father of Jay and his wife Brigitte and Mark and loving grandfather of Braeden. Predeceased by parents Alex and Marguerite Virtue. Dear brother of Judy Wood and her husband John, Keswick, William Virtue and his wife Joan, Thornhill, and Roseamond Scherle and her husband Ted, Burlington. Dear son- in-law of Fedora Choc and dear brother-in- law of Patsy Braund and her husband Dean and John Poye and his wife Theresa, all of Brantford. Proud uncle of Kelly, Kristen, Kari, Sarah, Jennifer, Joey, David, Evan, Alannah, Tim, and Corinna. Jim was a member of Reba Lodge #515 A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Association, the Brantford Shrine Club, Mocha Temple, London and the notorious A.H. Club #14. He worked for W.J. MARSHELLO, Wendy (nee Welstead) - On Saturday July 4th, 2009 at the St. Catharines General Hospital Oncology Unit, surrounded by her family. Loving wife of Chuck for 33 years and devoted mother of James, Becky and Tim. Beloved daughter of Stanley and Margaret Welstead and sister of Susan (Owen), Peter (Monica) and the late James. Dear sister-in-law of Vicki (Ray) and Dana and aunt to Darria and Kristen. She was predeceased by her father-in-law Alex and mother-in-law Lillian. Wendy was employed by the Canada Border Services Agency as a Border Service Officer for 28 years. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and co-workers at the Queenston and Rainbow Bridges.
