SACHELI, Giuseppe - After 90 years of joyful living, Giuseppe (Joe) Sacheli died May 28, 2009, joining his wife Serafina in eternal peace. He was born in Realmonte, Sicily in 1919, and came to Canada in 1950 to make a better life for his family. He was the loving father of Frank (and wife Pauline) of Buffalo, Pat (and partner Andrea Thomas) of Fort Erie, Anthony (and wife Regina) of Okotoks, Alta., and Sarah (and husband Dan) of Kingsville, Ont. He was the proud Grandpa and Nonno Joe of Elizabeth, Aaron, Matthew, Benjamin, Alexander and Grace. He died peacefully with his four children at his side. He was kind and generous, and continued to bring us smiles in his final hours. A plumber, gas-fitter and jack of all trades, we are grateful for his hard work that opened opportunities for his children and grandchildren. We will remember his bountiful gardens that filled our hearts as well as our stomachs and will honour his memory by following his examples of love, courage and determination. STECKLEY, J. Alvin - Passed away peacefully at home following a brief illness on May 28th, 2009 in his 82nd year. Loving husband of Kathryn (nee Fretz). SAVIGNY, Ray H. - Born November 22, 1920 passed away peacefully at Millennium Trail Manor on Thursday April 30, 2009. Predeceased by his wife Iris in 1992. Dear father of Brian, Star and Drew. Loving Papa of Amy, Cameron, Matthew and Andrea. Great Grandfather of Ciera Raye and special “Uncle Ray“ to many nieces and nephews. Ray will be fondly remembered for his unique entertaining skills whether it be drumming, dancing, performing or his one of a kind musicales.He was a true gentleman and could charm all manner of humanity, from every social class and background. He was our own version of Fred Astaire - so debonair! Ray was also quite the business entrepreneur. He was the developer and original owner of Vineland Quarries. In the 1950s he had a vision to build his own golf course and so he did! He purchased a dairy farm and opened Beechwood Golf & Country Club in 1960. Beechwood will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2010. Ray was a WW II veteran, a former member of Branch 17 Thorold Legion and Anna Maria Island Moose Lodge #2188. Cremation has taken place and there will no visitation. He was a kind, honest and hardworking man who was always ready to lend a welcoming and helping hand. His garden was the envy of the neighbourhood. He lived for his family. His greatest source of joy were the occasions where he was surrounded by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. DUVAL, Rudolph (Rudy) - D.D. Veteran. Jan. 23, 1923 - May 28, 2009 of Espanola, passed away at his residence on Thursday May 28, 2009 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Sandra (nee Drennan) of Espanola. Loving Father of Patricia (fiancé Pete) of Sudbury, Debbie (husband Mark Pacey) and Darren (wife Shari) both of Espanola. Will be sadly missed by six grandchildren, Kristie, Kevin, Allan, Jordan, Zachary and Tyler. Dear brother of the late Alfred Duval (wife Thelma) of Sudbury. He served in World War Two-8th Reconnaissance with the 14th Canadian Hussars as a 2nd Division Trooper. He was employed by Inco, Stobie Mine for 33 years and a member of the Quarter Century Club. He did volunteer hospital visits for 25 years visiting the members of USWA every week. He had a major role in organizing the War Pensioners of Canada, North Shore Branch in Espanola and was past president of Dominion Command War Pensioner of Canada. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Espanola Elks Lodge #346 and Ordinary Member of Legion Br. #39 Espanola. He was number 1 Sudbury Wolves fan. At his request no visitation or service. FOGARTY, Grace Adeline - In loving memory of Grace Adeline Fogarty (nee Farrow). Born July 15th, 1929, passed away in her 80th year on Thursday, May 28th, 2009 after a worsening of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease at the Sudbury Regional Hospital, St. Joseph's Health Centre. Mom will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Loving mother of Brenda (David) of Crofton, B.C., Beverly of Calgary, Alberta, Brian (Jo-Anne) of Black Faulds, Alberta, Robert (Denise) of Cambridge and Cory (predeceased). Cherished grandmother of Alex, Courtney, Keith, Adam, Michael, Isabella and Gracie and step-grandmother of Paul and Britney. Dear sister of the late Mervin (surviving wife Greta of Beaver Lake), Myrna (Danny predeceased) of Beaver Lake, Donelda (Pat) of Espanola, Everett (Monique) of Nairn Centre and Linda (Garnet) of Wahnapitae. In her healthier years, Grace worked at the Coca-Cola plant in Sudbury and then later at Murray's Restaurant. After her children grew up and moved away, she settled in Massey where she worked as a butcher at Houle's Red & White until her retirement. She was the world's greatest knitter and Blue Jay fan and a wonderful Grama. GOHEEN , Yvonne (nee Niles) Born July 22, 1936 in Saskatchewan, died May 23, 2009 at Crossroads Hospice in Port Moody, BC. Predeceased by her husband Bob Asleson in 2004, she will be sadly missed by her numerous loving family, friends, and neighbours. Yvonne touched the lives of so many in her 72 years; "Gramma" was a VGH nurse, bowler, sewer and knitter, figure skater, lifeguard and an original Canuck fanatic. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Avenue, Port Coquitlam, BC (Telephone 1-604-944-4128). The death of Neddy Savoie of Quispamsis, NB, husband of Maureen (Lindsay) Savoie, occurred Monday, May, 25th, 2009, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in New Castle, NB, he was the son of the late Gerard and Louisa (Rouselle) Savoie. Neddy was a loyal employee of the Saint John Drydock, where he worked as a pipe fitter. He enjoyed woodworking and loved animals. Most of all, Neddy loved his family and he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and true friend. Besides his wife, Maureen, Neddy is also survived by two daughters, Tammy Langille (Jeff) of Saint John and Christina Lindsay (Ken Campbell) of Bloomfield; two sons, Paul Mason (Sheri Fanjoy) of Black River and JR Smith of AB; sixteen much loved grandchildren; one sister, Yolande Jimmo (John) of Quispamsis; one brother, Bue Savoie (Penny) of New Castle; mother-in-law, Helen Coates of Saint John; sister-in-law, Donna Patterson (Charlie) of Saint John; brothers-in-law, Bub Mason (Vicki) of BC, Doug Masonura) of ON and Stenner Mason (Anne-Marie) of BC; Lilliane Black of Miramichi (cherished sister-in-law), who raised Neddy from a young age; very special and dear friends, Daryl Jr. and Sandra Ritchie; several nieces and nephews. HAMILTON, Jessica Agnes ( Granny Jess) - Jessie passed away peacefully at the St. Josephs Health Centre on May 27, 2009. She was in her 86th year. Jessie leaves behind her devoted daughter Connie Watkinson, sister Caulene Cameron (David Blair) of Sault Ste Marie, ON, and Eleanor MacDonald, ( Ross MacDonald) of Oscoda Michigan. Grandson Bradley Watkinson (Donna) of Waterloo, On. Grand daughters Dawn Marie Watkinson of Sudbury, ON and Alana Watkinson of Salt Spring Island BC. Great Grandchildren, Cameron, Ryan and Erin share the sorrow of the loss. Jessie was predeceased by her parents Catherine (Kate) and Clair Cameron, and brother Wilfred Cameron. One of many accomplishments, Jessie attained her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in archaeology and anthropology from Laurentian University in May 2003 at the age of 80. She enjoyed many years at her cottage on St. Josephs Island, and never passed up a game of cards. Much of Jessie's life was spent in Northern Ontario. Matheson was her home for many years. Special thanks to her niece Jackie Ring and family who helped keep her comfortable in her final hours, and Derek Weisenberg for being a good friend to all the family. Mark Wilfred Doucette The death occurred at his home on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, of Mark Doucette, of Cornwall and formerly of South Rustico, age 54.
