TAIT, Peter - Peacefully at Bluewater Health Norman St. Site on Friday March 27th, 2009 Peter Alexander Tait of Sarnia, in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Barbara (McCormick) Tait. Loving father of Nancy Tait of Sarnia and Janet Tait of Canning, N.S. Dear brother of Helena Park of Sarnia and Grace Anderson of Bayfield. Brother-in- law of Pat and Doug Clarke of London, Jean Forbes of Forest, Doris McCormick of Watford, Helen Tait of Forest and Gordon Savage of Sarnia. Remembered by many nieces, nephews and their families. Peter retired as an educator in 1985. He was honored with a Life Membership to the Forest Curling Club in 2000 and the Sarnia Lawn Bowling Club in 2008. Peter's hope throughout his life was to be a positive influence to all those he met. BOUCHER, Jeanne D'arc (Jeannette) née Lacourcière 1918-2009 - It is with profound sadness that the family announces the loss of their beautiful little mommy Jeannette Boucher at the age of 90, Thursday March 26, 2009 at Leisure World, North Bay. Jeannette was the beloved wife of the late Edmond Boucher (1982). She leaves in mourning her 5 children who will miss her tremendously, Donald of Sturgeon Falls, Marcel (companion Huguette Bleau) of Asbestos, Québec, Mariette (Fernand Laporte) of Sturgeon Falls, Claire (late companion Harold Welke) of Chapeau, Québec and Claude (Yvonne Sleypen)of Rockland. Predeceased by her parents Blanche Gingras-Lacourcière-Filion (1974) and Donat Lacourcière (1965) and by her only brother Lionel Lacourcière (1964). Morgan Robinson (1999). Loving mother to Michael M. Robinson, Lois Robinson, Gwendolyn L. Hyde and son-in-law Larry, Beverley Robinson Scheiers and son-in-law Gary. Survived by grandchildren Tyler (Chris) Robinson, Mary Lynn (Tony) Duncan, Jeanette (Jeff) O'Brien, Peter Hyde, Katie Scheiers and Michael Scheiers. Great grandmother of 10. Also survived by nephew Mark Holmes and family of Aurora and niece Elaine Lisowski and family of London. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Gertrude Holmes as well as sisters Jean (Donald) Matheson, Gertrude (Elmer) Wilson (Dayman) Walter, Elizabeth (Douglas) Brown and Grace (Gordon) MacDonald and brothers Francis (Grace) Holmes and Bruce (Kay) Holmes. Doris was a retired teacher with the Lambton County Board of Education with 27 years of service in special education. ROY, Richard Joseph Henri Roy, Richard Joseph Henri - Went to be with our Lord on Friday March 27, 2009 at the age of 61. He is survived and dearly missed by his loving wife Donna, mother Madeleine, children Richard (Sonya), Philip, Travis, Chad (Desiree), Sarah, (Scott), Renee (Alex, Moo), brothers and sisters, Cecile (Roger), Anna (Andre), Andre (Francine), Aurelien (Murielle), Bernard (Gilberte), Raymond (Lucille), Therese (Rejean), Claudette (John), Diane, John Paul (Cheryl), Jacinthe (Mark), aunt Marie Carriere along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and a soon-to-arrive grandson Sebastion. He is predeceased by his father Henri-Louis, and his sister Jacqueline. Born in Carrot River, Richard grew with a passion for travelling and working internationally. He eventually settled in Calgary where he met and married his soul mate Donna on April 23, 1999. Together they founded Sona-Tech Consulting Ltd. providing international consulting services which lead Richard to exotic locations. Richard took great pleasure in a life of love and happiness with friends and family, enjoying fishing and spending time with his "buddies-in-law". Richard was a compulsive tinkerer which lead to many things being fixed (and refixed) around the house. He leaves behind many friends, and family who will deeply miss him. CRANE, Callie (nee Roberts) - On Friday March 27, 2009 after a tragic accident at the age of 32. Loving and caring mother of Charley and Sydney and their father Derek. HAY, Daryl Allan (Haywire) June 22, 1958 - March 27, 2009 Daryl, loving husband of Donna Hay (nee Wise), passed away while snowmobiling at Silver Mines by Golden. He died suddenly due to the result of an avalanche that he himself triggered, going up a path that he had taken many times before on several previous trips. Daryl leaves to mourn daughters Brandy and Stephanie, as well as step-children Peter and Tanya VanOtterloo. He is also survived by two sisters, Joyce (Ken) Hay-Breit of Sylvan Lake and Sister Cheryl (Jim) Pask of Drumheller and many nieces and nephews. Uncle Lindsay and aunt Rose Hay of Carbon. Aunt Ione Gusella of Carstairs. Cousins, the Gordon Ward Family of Acme and the Don Maxwell family of Radisson Sask. Daryl was predeceased by his sister, Dianna, parents, Muriel and Hartley. CARIN, Bess (nee Dobrinsky) - On Sunday, March 29, 2009, in her ninety-first year. Beloved Mom of Barry (Anne), David (Brenda), Michael (Cielo), and Andrew. Revered wife of Reuven. Adored grandma of Kristi, Laura (Will), David and Alicia. Great grandmother of Lola. Very special friend of Trudy. Bess was one of six children of an extraordinary family, parented by the late Nathan and the late Leah Dobrinsky. She had the same values, warmth, geniality and generous personality as her brothers and sisters, Ben Dobrinsky, Mel Dobrin, the late Herb Dobrin, the late Ida Julius, and the late Toby Dobrin. Quiet and dignified, Bess's selflessness, patience, inner strength and resolve guided her family as her sons grew up in loving homes on Waverly Street, Mountain Sights, and Guertin. She set the gold standard in terms of raising four university graduates. As her sons pursued their careers (three of them out of town) health issues prompted a move to the Monaco Residence, where her tender nature and innate charm endeared Bess to her caregivers. She will be remembered most for her grace, high intelligence and enjoyment of the human comedy orchestrated by her family. Bess will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. DERBYSHIRE, Dr. Jack Almquist August 17, 1935 - March 28, 2009 It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father. Dad was called home by the angels on March 28, 2009 at the age of 73. He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. Dad will be remembered for his compassion, generosity, kindness and for being a good person. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his children Jackie (Rod), Cheryl (Mike), Daniel (Andrea); cherished grandchildren Michael, Kristian, and Skyla; his loving ex-wife Marg; twin brother Dick (Caroline); brother-in-law Dick (Betty); and our half-brother Miles. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. Dad had a distinguished career as a children's Dentist in Calgary and was well respected amongst the profession. Despite many health set-backs, Dad always forged ahead with a positive attitude, spirit and great strength. LOEWEN , Ada May Ada May Loewen passed away in Calgary on March 28, 2009. Ada was born May 14, 1914, in Hooper, Washington, USA, to George Henline and Nora Henline, formally Gatchel. She was married to the former Del Stryker, and then to the former David Loewen. Ada is survived by and was the loving mother of Leonard Stryker, and Gerald Stryker of Calgary, and of David Stryker of Boston, Massachusetts. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great- grandchildren, and a long and loving friend, Dorothy Erickson, who resides in Calgary. Ada was devoted to her church and believed her faith helped her in facing life challenges. Ada was a hard and committed worker who owned and ran the Triple X Diner on North Hill for many years before she went to work for Eaton's Department Store. Among her many interests over the years, she much enjoyed breeding and training Chihuahuas, for which she won a number of championships with her dog "Aquila". A Funeral Service will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, 65 Richard Way S.W. Calgary, on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Hugh Gorman officiating. GURSKI, Erma 2009-03-30 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Erma Mae Dean Gurski announce her passing on March 28, 2009 at Pinewood Court in Thunder Bay, with her daughter by her side. Erma was born to Eli and Katherine Johnson on May 10, 1931 in Barick, Ontario. Moving with her family to Fort Frances in 1946. Erma will be laid to rest in Fort Frances on Thursday, April 2 2009 at the Zion Lutheran Church Scott St. Erma was united in marriage to Nick Gurski on November 29 1952 in Fort Frances Ont. where they raised their three children and successfully ran Russell‘s Moving and Storage for over 40 years. Erma was a very hard worker, she took pride in keeping her house clean and was always ready to “whiten” your laundry and assist in stain removal. She was a long-time member of the Zion Lutheran Church on Scott St. where she was a member of the Alter Guild for over 40 years. Erma had her own sense of humor and marched to the beat of her own drum to know her was to love her. With failing health Erma moved to Thunder Bay in 2005 to be closer to her Thunder Bay family. Although she liked Thunder Bay, she loved Fort Frances as this was her home and she spoke often and fondly of one day returning to her home on Williams Ave. where it all began for her and Nick. Erma was predeceased by her husband Nick in 2001 who will be waiting for her in Heaven. She is survived by her daughter Brenda (John) Monsma and their children Crystal (Armando) Chiara and Nico Simeoni, Jason (Renee) Monsma, Les (Tina) Matthew, Lauren, Adriane and Maggie Gurski, Mike (Sharon) Scott and Nick Gurski. Erma was predeceased by her brother‘s Lorne and Jimmy Johnson, Harry Walden and sister and brother-in-law Art and Annie Legarrie, sister-in-law Yvonne Johnson. She is survived by her sister Bonnie (Harvey) Cooper, brothers Ralph and Ed (Mary), Ken (Marie) and Rudy Johnson, sister-in-laws Lucille Johnson and Pat Walden. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. In closing the family would like to thank Pinewood Court Long-Term Care Facility in Thunder Bay for welcoming Erma to what would be her final home. To all the staff in particular her home area of Blue Heron for the care and love that you showed Erma. She spoke highly of you and appreciated everything that you did for her many of you became a part of her family. Lloyd Gilbert Johnston beloved husband of the late Mary Johnston (nee Cameron). Loving father to Allyn and his wife Lynda of Hepworth, Janet Marshall of Elora and Stepfather to Delynn and her husband Frank Pelling of Huntsville. Cherished Grandfather of, Jamie and her husband Dale Kuhl of Brampton, Jennifer and her husband Mark Armstrong of Arthur, and Scott McDougald and his wife Samantha of Grand Parrie Alberta. Step Grandfather to Scott and his wife Tracy Pelling of Huntsville, and Leanne Pelling and her partner Collin Martin of Huntsville. Great Grandfather to seven. Lloyd will be fondly remembered by his nieces Doris Patterson of Lucan and Leona Appleby of Barrie, Janice and her husband David McKenzie of British Columbia and by his nephew Brian Johnston of British Columbia. Lloyd is predeceased by his first wife Doris Johnston (nee Binnis), his brother Marshall and his wife Penny and by his sister Gladys and her husband Nelson Pickell. Lloyd served for his country overseas in WW II and came home to farm. He obtained his real estate license after farming and then retired to the Legion Kelso Apartments in Owen Sound. Lloyd has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 40 years joining back in 1969. SIMPSON, Christopher John 1939-2009 It is with great sadness that the family of Christopher Simpson, announce his passing on March 25, 2009. Chris passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Chris will be lovingly remembered by his wife Gail; his children and grandchildren. A Celebration of Chris's Life will be held at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church (18 Hidden Creek Road N.W.) on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Christopher's name directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. WILSON , Blanche Mamie (nee Bootland) Blanche (formerly of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Courtenay, BC and Toronto, Ontario) passed away peacefully at the age of 82 years on March 28, 2009 with her family by her side. She leaves to mourn her husband of sixty-one years, Clifford; sister Mabel Rusland (George); daughters, Judith Potter (Colin) and Sharon Robb (Brian); grandchildren, Paul Dament (Liana); James and Heather Wastle. Respecting Blanche's wishes, Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 10037 - 84 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. An Interment Service will take place in late April at Beechwood Cemetery, Vaughan, Ontario, where Blanche will finally "go home".
