LEMIRE, Edna - The family announces with great sorrow the death of Edna Mary Ellen Lemire (née Kennelly) at Extendicare, on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the age of 87. Edna was born in Kirkland Lake, but raised in Cobalt and returned to Kirkland Lake after her marriage to Arthur Lemire. She was predeceased by her parents Maurice and Jessie Kennelly, infant son Bryan Lemire, her husband Arthur Lemire, her sister Lea Suzack, and son in law Wayne Bush. She leaves to mourn her loss 3 daughters, Elaine Belanger (Roland Wojtus) of Kirkland Lake, Shirley Bush of Toronto and Valerie Lang (Jean-Claude Daigle) of Kirkland Lake. She was a devoted grandmother/mémé to Shawn Belanger (Julie Weisflock), Steven Belanger (Jennifer Peekhause), Jordan Belanger (Sarah Gagnon), Jessica Lang and Cory Lang. Great grandmother to Chloe, Samuel and Kobe Belanger and Nayomi and Hope Lang. She was the dear sister-in-law of Albert & Marie-May Lemire of North Bay, Yvette Joyal (late Roland) of Chapleau, Gilberte Lemire (late Hubert) of Ottawa, Irene & Robert Walker of Brampton, Reverend Sister Jeannine Lemire of New Liskeard, Simone & Robert Tekauc of Toronto, Aurele & Linda Lemire of Alliston and late Maria & late Leo Poirier. FODOR , Katalin, Valeria (nee Istvan) - March 24, 1941 - March 14, 2009 It is with a great deal of sadness that we announce the death of Katalin, who passed away just ten days short of her 68th birthday after a long period of illness. Katalin (a.k.a. Kathy, Kati or Kadie to some) was born in Nyiregyhaza, Hungary, from where she immigrated to Canada in 1957 where she reunited with her Grandmother and Grandfather. After a variety of jobs she settled down to married life, raising her twin daughters, Barbara and Csilla. She was a dedicated lifelong student, forever studying art, herbology, therapeutic massage techniques and the outdoor life. She loved camping, travelling, good music, spending time with good friends, volunteering, gardening, and going to church, where her contribution was always greatly appreciated. As an enthusiastic traveler she did not need much prompting to tell of her experiences in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, or the United States. She was an avid skier, downhill and cross country, and loved spending time by any lake, anywhere. Kathy enjoyed her own therapeutic massage business and frequently offered free massages to family members. Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her mother, daughters Barbara and Csilla, brother Tim and his wife Judy, "Aunti" Erzsi, good friends and relatives both in Canada and in Hungary. Kathy's family would like to thank the staff of Mount Royal Care Centre for the care they extended to Kathy in the past four years where Kathy felt at home. There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Kathy at LEYDEN'S Chapel of Remembrance (corner of 17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.), at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2009, to be followed by Internment ceremonies at Queen's Park Cemetery on 4 Street N.W. DETLOR, Harold A. U.E. - Passed away at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Thursday March 12th, 2009 at the age of 82. Born on July 28th, 1926 in Niagara Falls and was a resident his whole life. Beloved husband of Mary Helen (Sorley) for 60 years. Loving father of Linda M. Detlor- Cross (Robert) of Virgil and Thomas H. of Vancouver. He is survived by his sister Marion Holman (Jim) of Fenwick, brother Lorne Detlor (Julie) of Niagara Falls, sister- in-law Alice Detlor (late Hugh) of Niagara Falls. He is also survived by brother-in-law Jack Sorley (Margaret) of Niagara Falls, sister-in-law Carla Sorley (the late James) of Maple Heights, Ohio, sister-in-law Betty Sorley (the late Alexander) of Niagara Falls. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Archibald Detlor and Bessie (Stephenson) and step-sister Margaret Wood Patterson all of Niagara Falls. Harold served 2 years in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII. He was devoted as a leader for 60 years in the Scouting Movement at 1st Niagara Scout Group. He received the bar for Silver Acorn of Scouting in 2008, the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 and the City of Niagara Falls Volunteer Award in 2007. He was an avid bowler, curler and golfer. He was a member of the John Butler Branch of the U.E.L. of Canada and the Niagara Classic Mustang Club. Sincere thanks to the paramedics, ER Staff and ICU Staff of GNGH for their compassion, kindness and support. Thank you also to Tony and Ivy Roberts for their assistance and for being there. Linwood was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Catherine (Tooke) Randall. Linwood is the loving husband of Judith Ann (Dorcas) Randall. Linwood was born in Fredericton, N.B. on April 11, 1935 and was 74 years of age. Linwood is survived by his loving wife Judith, his daughter Kimberley Randall, Toronto, Ont., two loving step-daughters; Wendy (Mark) Balemans, Oak Point, and Alisa (Leigh Christie) Cole, Quispamsis, and loving step-son Dwayne (Amy) Dorcas, Hamilton, Ont., and son-in-law David (Lesley Sullivan) Cole, Red Head, N.B. Linwood was employed with the Port of Saint John for 35 years and the summer port in Toronto for 10 years. Linwood retired from the Port in 2000. He worked at Parkway Mercury and was the top salesman for a few years as well. Linwood was a member of RCL Branch #69 and a longtime member of the Adanac Club. Linwood attended Our Lady of the Assumption Church and St. Rose of Lima Church. Linwood and grand-daughter Lindsay were avid race fans and they attended all the races at the Speedway in Geary, N.B. Linwood was proud of his nephew Brian Gillespie of Nacawick who won many championships at the Speedway. Beloved grand-daughter Lindsay, Papa will always be at your side and watching over you. O'BRIEN, Derek Richard - October 28, 1935 - March 14, 2009 Our beloved husband, father and grandfather was called Home by the angels after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Dad was born in Tramore, Ireland and immigrated to Montreal in 1953. There he met and married his wife of forty-six years, Cynthia Mayhew. They moved to Calgary in 1973 where Dad spent his entire career within the engineering field as a draftsman. Dad was a quiet, kind and gentle soul who always gave people the benefit of the doubt. He had a passion for soccer (Manchester United), hockey, horses and the love of the outdoors. We will miss our afternoon walks at Glenmore Park, his sense of humour and his laugh. Left to mourn his loss are his wife Cynthia; son Michael; daughters, Valerie Hudson (Martin), Karen Kaufmann (Thilo) and his five little angels on earth, Liam, Aidan and Siobhan Kaufmann, and Connor and Cooper Hudson. Dad's newest Hudson angel is due October 1, 2009. He was very pleased and proud to know he would be a grandfather for the sixth time. Dad also leaves behind extended family throughout eastern Canada and the United States. WISHART, C. (Tam) August 30, 1923 - March 15, 2009 Tam passed away peacefully on March 15, 2009 at the age of 85 years, surrounded by the love of his family. Tam was born a proud Scot in Glasgow and enjoyed many boyhood adventures there with friends and family. In 1941, at the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the Scots Guards Regiment. He subsequently volunteered as a paratrooper for the Chindit Regiment, seeing action in Burma and India. Post war, he chose to immigrate to Canada based on his wonderful impression of the Canadian soldiers he met serving overseas. Soon after his arrival in Alberta he met and courted his wife, Isabel. Married in 1948, they spent sixty happy years together raising their family of six children in Edmonton, Montreal, Toronto and Calgary. Tam lived for his family and was happiest when surrounded by them. Retired in 1982, he and Isabel spent their summers gardening together. His favourite winter hobbies included complaining it was not spring yet and filled the time in between building any number of projects in his workshop for friends, family and the GRIT Calgary Society's special needs children. Tam leaves to mourn his wife of sixty years, Isabel; children Tricia (David), Doug (Sandy), Nancy (Craig), Hugh (Leigh) and Tam (Shereen); eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Sheila and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Janey; father William; sisters Muriel and Jean and son Angus. He will be sorely missed and never forgotten. There will be a private family Service at a later date. Tam's remains will be returned to the Isle of Arran, off the coast of Scotland, where he spent many a happy summers as a "wee lad." LEE, Byung "Sam" Peacefully at home on Saturday, March 14, 2009 (Pi Day) at the age of 64. Loving husband of Kyung "Kay" Lee. Dear father of Jean-Hee and Won-Hee. DUNCAN, William (Bill) Connon Stuart - 17 February 1920 - 9 March, 2009. Passed away peacefully on 9 March, 2009. Predeceased by wife Elizabeth. Survived by son Michael (Katherine) of Ottawa, ON; daughter Ann (Ron) of Fenelon Falls, ON; grandson Andrew (Melissa) of Toronto, ON; granddaughter Heather (Tim) of Albany Western Australia and great-grandchildren William and Oliver (twins) of Albany and Violet Grace of Toronto. Dad was born and spent his childhood on farms around Huntley Scotland. At 17 he joined the British Royal Artillery completing towns of duty in India, Iraq, Palestine and occupied Germany. In 1947 he left the British Army and boarded a flight to Canada. During this flight he met an Irish lass (Elizabeth) who he married two years later. After a few months in Toronto Dad sought adventure by traveling west. In Sudbury Ontario he gained employment as a miner at the Internation Nickel Company's Creighton Mine operations where he remained for 34 years. In 1951, the Duncan family became residents of Lively where the family grew and prospered. In 1984 Dad, seeking relief from winter, left Lively and moved to Victoria, BC to become a resident of the James Bay community. For the next 20 years, he enjoyed daily walks along the Dallas Road and Beacon Hill Park pathways. Many a summer day he spent the day enjoying the challenges and the friendships provided by the park's putting green. For the past six years Dad has lived with Alzheimer's, yet always maintained a cheerful and pleasant approach with people. Dad's ashes will be scattered at the First Memorial Funeral Services (Victoria) facilities. The Duncan family would like to thank everyone who befriended our father throughout his life and special thanks to the care-givers and staffs of Sunrise Assisted Living and the Lodge at Broadmead. 11439389

CRAIG, Doris Leone (nee Buttery) - Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Friday, March 13, 2009 with her family by her side in her 77th year. Mr. Edgar Thomas Coles February 2, 1925 - March 10, 2009 Edgar T. Coles 1925-2009 World War II Veteran On Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the Rouge Valley Health Centre-Centenary, in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Mary Lou (nee Lucas) for 58 years. Father of Beverly (Fred), Debbie (Tony), Bob (Linda), Cindy, Dan (Lesley) and Jacquie. Grandfather of Jesse, Tom, Luke, Selena and Olivia. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother Jessie and sister Yvonne. Ed fought overseas in the Royal Regiment of Canada and helped liberate Camp Westerbork. Following the war, he joined Penn/Johnson Controls starting in the repair department and rising through the ranks to become Vice President and General Manager. During his lifetime, Ed served as President of R.S.E.S. Canada, HRAI of Canada, Ashrae Ontario Chapter, and the Cedarbrae Golf and Country Club. He was also the President of the Pidgeon Lake Camper’s Association, an organization that he originated. Ed was a lifetime member of the Mason’s Markham Chapter. Visitation will be held at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, “Scarborough Chapel”, 2900 Kingston Road (east of St. Clair Ave. E.) on Saturday, March 14, from 12-2 p.m. A service will follow in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. “I wouldn’t have changed a thing”.
