Mr. Van Bolhuis of Chatham is survived by his beloved daughter Terri- Lynne Devito, and her husband Chet and granddaughter Giovanna of Scottsdale, Arizona. Beloved brother and brother-in-law of Grace Nagel and her husband Simon of Chicago, Illinois, Simone Van Bolhuis of St. Mary's, Cecil Van Bolhuis and his partner Nicole Girard of Montreal, and Rene Borrowman and her husband Bob of Chatham. Richard will also be missed by his four nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents George (2006) and Tina (2000) Van Bolhuis and his brother Dirk (1991). Petty Officer First Class Richard Walter 'Rick" Mohr April 26, 1966 - December 25, 2008 MOHR, Petty Officer First Class Richard "Rick" Walter, 42 of Lower Sackville passed away, at home, on December 25, 2008, lovingly surrounded by his family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Etobicoke Ontario, he was the son of Gerhard Mohr, Mississauga, Ontario and the late Elisabeth (Oswald) Mohr. Rick served in the Canadian Navy for 22 years receiving his basic training in Cornwallis and Esquimalt. He served on the HMCS Nipigon, HMCS Gateneau, HMCS Athabaskan, HMCS Fraser, HMCS Charlottown, HMCS Preserver, HMCS Provider, HMCS Toronto and most recently again on the HMCS Athabaskan as the Senior Naval Communicator. He served during the 1990-1991 Persian Gulf Conflict, many NATO Tours of Duty, and was an Instructor at the Fleet School. Although Rick served his country with pride and dedication he devoted his spare time to family activities, with particular attention to his children's soccer games and playtime with his dogs Schroeder and the late Maggie. He was a coach for the Scotia Soccer Club and also served on the club's Executive Committee. He enjoyed preparing special gourmet meals for his family every weekend, gardening, hiking, computer games but most importantly spending time with his wife and children. He will always be remembered as a kind and gentle person, a proud and devoted father, a wonderful and loving husband and friend. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Natasha (Zinck), daughter Elisabeth and son Andrew; sister Sandra (Al); grandfather Walter; step-mother Florence; cherished mother-in-law Tootsie; sisters-in-law Cynthia (Andreas); Carla (Glen); Alexis (Phil) and a very special sister-in-law Krissy and her husband Gary, brother-in-law Shane (Rhonda); and very special family friend Gary Carson. He will be sadly missed by his many aunts and uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a very special grandmother Stephanie and grandparents Martin and Theresa. Visitation will be held Monday December 29th from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. BOGNER, Ella (nee Martin) Mrs. Ella Bogner of Calgary passed away at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Ella was predeceased by her husband Alex, daughter Myrna Bogner and son Eldon Bogner. Ella was born August 27, 1920 at Hanna, AB and was the last surviving sibling of eight children born to Daniel and Sophie Martin. Ella moved to the Huxley and Trochu area where she met and married Alex Bogner. They eventually moved to Calgary where she resided with her family for forty-nine years on Kilkenny Road. Ella lived for her family and enjoyed their many travels together. She also took great pride in making her home a place of beauty. W. and Alice Jill Bles, Zoe is predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas Leslie Porter. DONALD DEAN REA The family of Don Rea announce with sadness the death of a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at age 82 years. Don died peacefully in the home he shared with his wife Adele and is predeceased by his first wife Marion. He was a loving father to their three children and their spouses David (Tammy), Donna Zaza (John) and Laura Ball (Mike) and Adele's children Bob Davis (Cheryl Hauser) and Nancy Davis (Marg Tope). He was loved and will be missed by all his grandchildren Jenna, William, James, Jeremy, Gavin, Zachary, Mitchell, Chloe, Jayden, Emily and Charlie. He will especially be missed by his cousins Ruth and Don Parr, his many nieces and nephews and all the family and friends of Gull Lake, Minden, Ontario. Don continued to enjoy his friends from the days at Humberside Collegiate and University of Toronto (P.Eng. 1949) and was very highly regarded by his friends and colleagues for his active role on the Executive Council and Board at Royal York Road United Church. Don was a very good friend to all, and was kind, loved and respected. His quiet strength and great fortitude guided him through life. He loved his summer days at the family cottage, and especially loved travel, reading, and any building projects, of which he had many, either as mentor or craftsman. We remember with fondness his intelligence, sense of community, and endearing smile. David Bourque 1920-2009 A l'Hôpital Sackville Memorial, le jeudi 1 janvier 2009, à l'âge de 88 ans, est décédé David Bourque, domicilié à Port Elgin, Westford Nursing Home, mais autrefois de Trois-Ruisseaux. Né le 18 mars 1920 à Trois-Ruisseaux, il était fils de feu Alphée et Justine (Niles) Bourque. David était un ancien combattant avec les forces canadiennes dans la deuxième guerre mondiale. Il était membre de la Légion Canadienne #91 à Cap-Pelé. Avant sa retraite, il était un représentant avec la compagnie Watkins, un plombier et aimait la chasse et la pêche. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse depuis 68 ans, Elmira (Vautour) Bourque, deux filles: Murielle Brien (Philip) de Trois-Ruisseaux et Judy Melanson (Paul) de Cap-Pelé; trois petits-enfants: Fabien (Christine), Joel et Joseph Anna); un petit-fils Nicholas, deux soeurs: Clara Cormier de Bas Cap-Pelé et Emma Robichaud (Arthur) de Shédiac; deux frères: Néri (Hélèna) de Cap-Pelé et Freddie (Lilianne) d'Ontario; ainsi que par un beau-fils Clorice Cormier de Trois-Ruisseaux. Deux enfants: Joseph et Aline Cormier, deux soeurs: Marguerita Landry et Marceline McComb, ainsi que deux frères: Adrice et George l'ont précédé dans la tombe. Georges François C'est avec grande tristesse qu'on vous annonce le décès de Georges François, le papa de Marie-Thérèse et Monique. Il est décèdé le 1 janvier 2009, à l'âge de 72 ans, après une longue et courageuse bataille contre le cancer. Outre ses enfants, il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Jeannette et sa famille natale de Belgique; son frère Gilbert, ses soeurs, Sr. Marie-Louise François, Suzanne (Paul) Kupper et Madeleine François; son neveu et filleul Pierre (Marie) Kupper et leurs enfants: des cousins et des amis au loin et plus proches. Georges est arrivé en Acadie en 1967 pour enseigner la philosophie quand l'Université de Moncton était à ses glorieux débuts. C'étaient les bonnes années et des années mouvementées. En 1970, il poursuivit des études pour terminer un doctorat en philosophie en 1975. Il fit son retour à l'Université de Moncton comme professeur de 1974 à 2000, en passant par les fonctions de directeur du département de philosophie à quelques reprises et de doyen de la Faculté des Arts de 1980 à 1985. Durant sa carrière, il participe à divers comités et est membre du Sénat académique pendant 10 ans. A sa retraite, il redécouvre la vie auprès de ses proches, le bonheur des livres, de la nature, des joies simples. En cette période de maladie, Georges a fait l'humble découverte de la souffrance autour de lui. Nous voulons remercier les nombreux médecins qui l'ont servi avec douceur: Dr. Dubois et Dr. Gorman, ainsi que Dr. Jacques Albert de l'Hôpital de Moncton. Merci aussi à Dre Yolande Martin pour avoir pris en main son dossier. Merci à Dre Andrée Lirette, Dr. Whitlock, Dr. Ghedira et Dre Janice Cormier et les multiples médecins, infirmières et personnel qui ont traité Georges à l'urgences et en oncologie. Merci au personnel du 3A, du 4C, de l'Extra Mural et surtout un merci tout spécial aux anges des soins palliatifs pour leur beau service. La dépouille mortelle est exposée à la Maison funéraire Frenette ltée, 88, rue Church à Moncton (858-1900). Les funérailles auront lieu en l'église Saint-Louis-de-France de Moncton, le lundi 5 janvier 2009, à 11h. L'inhumation se fera au cimetière Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire de Dieppe. Carl Herbert Wilson December 02, 1919 to December 29, 2008 A Canadian Transportation Legend Carl Wilson, a great gentleman of honesty and integrity, passed away peacefully at his Toronto home. A loving family man predeceased by his father John Wesley, mother Mabel, wife Florence Mary and son John, leaves his memories to family members; sister Joan and family, daughter Carol, sons Donald, Douglas, Peter, James and Carl; daughter-in-law Donna, son-in-law Kim, grandchildren Donna, Debi, Donny, Andrea, Murray, Jenny, Paul, Whitney, Candace, Jordan, Alyssa, Jamie, Robert and Great-Grandchildren; Jake, Brooke, Matthew, Sydney, Shelby, Adrian, Gracelyn, Madison, Ellie, Halle, Jet & Quincey. The family appreciates and thanks brother Carl for his endless love and time devoted as a caregiver to our Father. The hyphen between the dates tells the history of this great man. As a teenager living with his parents on a country farm located on the north-east section of the Holland Marsh, that is now so well known as the best growing fields in Ontario, his career began to take shape. Clearing the land with his father that they leased to Italian families to grow vegetables for their livelihood, his vision of transportation was created. Carl convinced his father to buy a truck allowing him to transport the vegetables and milk from local farmers to the Toronto market. So inspired by his love for transportation, his father bartered the farm for a small trucking business in Toronto. The company had four tractor trailers that worked for A&P Canada delivering food products to their grocery stores. Wilson Transportation, established in 1937, was the beginning of a Canadian Transportation Legend. Carl Wilson’s transportation career included the first truck transport service west of Sudbury Ontario. A pioneer in logistical thinking, made him a leading figure in the trucking industry at a very early age. His trucking empire employed hundreds. This dedication to employees and a motto of superior service still empowers the Wilson Group today. Carl enjoyed an enriched full life. He was a devoted family man, executive, pilot, visionary, mentor, boss and friend. His life has shaped others, the way waves shape rocks. Our memories of this great man will last forever. BRAIS Clément (1934-2008) -- D’Iberville, le 24 décembre 2008, à l’âge de 74 ans, est décédé monsieur Clément Brais, époux de Mariette Gamache. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil ses deux fils et leurs conjointes: Stéphane (Lorraine Bouthillier), Benoît (Karine Gautreau), ses quatre petits-enfants Élodye, Katherine, Antoine et Jérémy, ses deux frères Yvon et Denis (Noëlla Roy), beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, neveux et nièces et de nombreux autres parents et amis. Les funérailles en présence du corps ont eu lieu le mardi 30 décembre à 14 h en l’église Saint-Athanase d’Iberville, suivies de la crémation. Des dons à la Fondation des maladies du coeur du Québec seraient appréciés en sa mémoire. Un merci spécial au personnel de l’Hôpital du Haut-Richelieu pour les bons soins prodigués. TATOULIS, John September 1, 1941 - December 28, 2008 John Tatoulis passed away peacefully surrounded by his four children on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the age of 67 years. John was born in Kastri, Greece to Pete and Vicky Tatoulis and was one of eight children. He first came to Canada in the mid 1960's then returned to Greece and married Erasmia Tatoulis before coming back in 1973. John went on to have four children and eventually settled in Drumheller, AB where he owned a restaurant for fifteen years. He was always friendly, kind and generous to all he met and most especially his children. Family was the most important thing to him and he will always be remembered by them for the warm hearted, loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle that he was. John spent the last part of his life confined by dementia and although we feel the pain of his passing we are comforted by the knowledge that he has moved on to a greater place where he is finally free. We love you Dad and we know you will be watching over us from your beautiful home in the sky until one day when we will meet again. John is survived by his four children Vicky, Helen (Bob), Pete, and Steve. He had five beautiful grandchildren Paytan, Parker, Jaxon, Seth and Mariah. He is also survived by his brothers George, Nick, and Gus and his sisters Kathy, Kiki, and Toula as well as a large extended family that will all miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his oldest brother, Tom. PENNY, Margaret - Greatly saddened by the passing of Margaret Penny, who on Monday morning lost her courageous battle and passed away peacefully with her husband by her side. Obituaries It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and best friend, Orval Allan Lougheed, on Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at the Lake of the Woods Hospital in Kenora, Ont. Orval was born Nov. 11, 1924 in Carpenter Township to the late Israel and Elma Lougheed. He leaves behind his loving wife, Edra Jean (nee Murray); their five children, Billy (Charlotte), Jeanne (Morley) McDonald, Glen, Grant (Lorette), and Les (Ellen); nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his five sisters; two brothers; two sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews; relatives and good friends; and the many people he touched during his life. Orval and Jean owned their own logging business for many years in Kenora. He loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing and hunting. Also he will be missed by his beloved dog, “Holly.” At Orval’s request, no funeral service will be held. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service to celebrate Orval’s life will be held at a later date. MATHIEU (NÉE COUPAL) Rachel -- (1949-2008) -- À Sabrevois, le 22 décembre 2008, entourée de ceux qu’elle aime, est décédée paisiblement Rachel Coupal, épouse de Denis Mathieu. Fille de feu Lionel Coupal et feu Dorilla Faille, belle-fille de feu Lucien Mathieu et de Marthe Guay. McCONNELL, Jayda Marie Jayda Marie McConnell, beloved daughter of Tasha Edwards and Justin McConnell, passed away at the age of two weeks on December 25, 2008. She was only here for a short time but she touched so many people. Jayda is survived by her big sister Tianna Baxter, grandparents Pamela and Lorne Holmes, Cy Edwards, Pamela and Archie King, Rob McConnell; aunties, Tamara Edwards and Crystal Fritzler; uncles Donny Knowler, Trevor Edwards, Nick McConnell. CARTER, Brian William 1933 - 2008 It is with great sadness that the family of Brian announces his passing at Foothills Medical Centre on December 31, 2008 at the age of 75 years. Brain will be lovingly remembered by his sons; Simon (Jennifer) Carter of Calgary and David Carter of California; his grandchildren, Zoey, Sebastian and Tristan of Calgary and Alexander of the United Kingdom. He was predeceased by his parents, Nelly and William Carter and his brother, John Carter. Brian had a charisma that was much sought after within his local community of Inglewood, he was a much loved by all the friends he made while living in the United Kingdom, Holland, Brazil, California and finally in Calgary particularly the Inglewood area where he was a long time resident.
