Santerre Patrice 1937-2008 Le 10 décembre 2008, à l’âge de 71 ans, est décédé Patrice Santerre, époux de Joan Hartley. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil ses deux fils, Patrick (Nicole Genesse) et Martin, ses trois-petits-enfants, David, Sarah et Mathieu, ses frères et soeurs, Roger (Bernadette), Georgette (Jean-Claude), Marthe (feu Richard), Gisèle (Réal), feu Anne ( Raymond), feu Céline (Bruce) et son jumeau feu Guy, ainsi que de nombreux parents et amis. Marjorie Pauline Nickerson 1929-2008 A sa résidence, le mardi 16 décembre 2008, à l'âge de 79 ans, est décédée Marjorie Pauline Nickerson. Née le 9 octobre 1929 à Pointe-du-Chêne, elle était fille de feu Alponse et Phoebe (Hendrickson) Fougère. Elle manquera beaucoup à sa soeur Bessie MacGarvie (feu Robert) de Pointe-du-Chêne, son frère Elie Fougère (Marie) de Shédiac, une belle-soeur Elvira Simmons (feu George) de Nouvelle-Écosse, ainsi que par plusieurs nièces, neveux et cousin-e-s. Outre son mari Clint Nickerson, une soeur Iva Fenwick, ainsi que deux frères: Donald et Frank Fougère l'ont précédé dans la tombe. Selon ses voeux, il n'y aura pas de visites au salon funéraire. Un service de chapelle aura lieu à la Maison funéraire Frenette ltée, 396, rue Main à Shédiac (532-3297), le jeudi 18 décembre 2008, à 13h. L'inhumation se fera au cimetière de Greenwood à Shédiac. MAC DUFF, Jacqui - entered into rest suddenly, yet peacefully, at her home on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. Jacqui Mac Duff, at the age of 50, was the beloved wife of Jeff Bardeau of Lindsay. Loving mother and best friend of Jasmine Mac Duff of Ajax and Jennifer Bardeau of Lindsay. Cherished gramma of Aris Mac Duff and Mason Bardeau. Dear sister of Donna and her husband Dennis Paull, Doug Mac Duff and his wife Karen all of Lindsay and Woneetta and her husband Jack Bartholomew of Wilberforce. Dear daughter-in-law of Glen and Aleatha Angers of Lindsay. Fondly remembered by Chris and Laura Angers, Pam Appleton and Carl O'Connell all of Lindsay, Pauline and David Hunt of Belleville and Pat and Julie Angers of Pleasant Point. LECLAIR, Sister Alice, CSJ (Sister Alice Marie) - Sister Alice passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2008 at the Pembroke Regional Hospital. She was in the 60th year of her religious life. She was born in Renfrew, a daughter of the late Mary (Shannon) and Henry (Harry) Leclair. Left to mourn her loss and celebrate her life among us are her Sisters in the Congregation, her brothers Emmett of Arnprior and Gerard of Ottawa, as well as her sister Lois (Levesque) of Petrolia and her much loved nieces and nephews and their families. She is predeceased by her brother Edward (Brother Timothy, fsc). After completing high school Sr. Alice began teaching and shortly thereafter joined the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph. During her many years of teaching, she also obtained her Elementary School Music Certificate, her B.A, her Principal's Certificate as well as a High School Assistant's Certificate. She taught in Pembroke at Our Lady of Lourdes School, and taught and assumed the role of Principal in schools in Calabogie, Chalk River, Whitney and Maynooth as well as Holy Name School in Pembroke. From 1993 to 1997 Sister was proud to take a position with the Canada Safety Council in Ottawa as co-ordinator of the Seniors' Program 55 Alive'. During her career, Sister came to Pembroke to serve her Congregation in a leadership capacity, including that of Assistant General Superior and Councillor. In the latter years she continued to be of service to her Congregation as a receptionist, which in turn gave her time to exercise her brain with puzzles, sudoku as well as reading and keeping well informed of the world events, with an emphasis on politics. She will be long remembered for her expert knowledge in grammar, her ability to converse in an informative and engaging manner and her genuine interest and caring nature. She was most grateful for her call to Religious Life and her unique relationship with God in the person of Jesus. Visitation at St. Joseph's Motherhouse, Pembroke on Tuesday, December 16th, starting at 3:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 17th at 10:30 a.m. at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse. BAIRD, Iris (nee Shlapak). November 17, 1928 - December 12, 2008. Iris Baird, passed away in Calgary, Alberta on Friday, December 12, 2008, at the age of eighty years. Iris was born in Charnowitz, Romania; she emigrated from Europe as an infant and settled with her family in Montreal. Iris married William Baird in 1955 and they moved with their family to Burlington, ON in the 1970s. Iris is survived by her two sons Martin Baird, Stephen (Heather) Baird and seven grandchildren who are all from Calgary; as well as her sister Zoria Germain of Montreal. OBITUARY ELIZABETH (LISA) HAZANOFF It is with sadness that the family of Lisa Hazanoff announce her passing on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre with her loving family by her side. Left to mourn Lisa's loss are her parents Victor and Anne-Marie Hazanoff; brother Michael (Diane) Hazanoff, all of Red Deer, AB as well as Lisa's aunt Galina McLaws of Bloomington, IN. Lisa was predeceased by her grandparents, Alexander and Nina Hazanoff, Edvard and Gudrun Schjelle. Lisa was born September 12, 1957 and raised in Montreal, Quebec, with summers spent at Lac Chevreuil. After graduating, she left for Toronto to continue her career in advertising as well as to pursue her passion for alternative medicine; she became a licensed holistic practitioner. Last year Lisa moved to Red Deer to be with her family. Lisa loved life and lived it to the fullest. She found great joy in travelling and meeting people. We are grateful to those who have touched her life and helped her along her journey. After a forty day mourning period there will be a private Memorial Service held on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 with Father Timothy officiating. LOWE, Greta Jane (nee Hutchinson). 1927-2008. Passed away peacefully with family at her side in the early morning of Saturday, December 13, 2008. In 1946, our brave young nineteen year old English war bride left family and friends behind in Potton, Bedfordshire, crossing the ocean on the Lady Nelson to join her husband in Canada. A longtime resident of Saint-Lambert, Mom now leaves us to be with her beloved Wesley and baby daughter Marilyn once again in heaven. She is the cherished mother of Valerie (Bill Welburn), Wesley, Cheryl (David Vijh), Beverley (Tom Walker), Brian and Robert (Jen Culford). ESKILDSEN, John February 2, 1927 - December 12, 2008 John Eskildsen passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on December 12, 2008 at the age of 81 years. John will be sadly missed by his wife Kiki, his three children Glenn (Sandi), Susan (Michael), Debbie and his four grandchildren Robert, Annette, Annyssa and Curtis. He will also be missed by his brother Claus (Britta) and many relatives in Denmark and Canada. John arrived in Canada in 1951 from Denmark. He soon found his way to Calgary where he wed Kiki in 1959. While living in Calgary, he spent most of his time travelling to the mountains, hiking and exploring and introducing other Calgarians to the back country in and around Banff and Kananaskis. He will also be missed by the many people whose lives he touched with his involvement with the 49th Scout Troup and badminton at the Calgary Winter Club. GRAVES, Edith "Grace" (nee Lough) January 23, 1923 - December 14, 2008 Edith "Grace" Graves passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Grace was born in Regina, SK on January 23, 1923. From the moment she arrived in Calgary in 1947 Grace loved the city and all it had to offer. In June 1950 she married George Thomas Graves in Banff, AB. She and George enjoyed forty-seven wonderful years of marriage and family life together. In their retirement they looked forward to their annual trek to the California desert to spend time with their "snowbird friends". Throughout her life she enjoyed the volunteering and the social interaction of the Kinnettes and K40's as well as her association for over twenty-five years with the Samaritan Club and Holy Cross Hospital Auxiliary. She made many close friends through curling, bowling and her exercise classes at the Glencoe Club. But Grace's greatest pleasure was in raising her two daughters and being "grandma" to her grandchildren. They will miss her shortbreads at Christmas and coins in their angel food birthday cakes. For the past two years, Grace has enjoyed the care and the companionship of the residents and staff at Staywell Manor. Grace is survived by her loving daughters and son-in-law, Marilyn and Jeff McCaig and Diane Graves; her grandchildren, Robb, Scott and Christy McCaig; her sister-in-law Jean Peach (Graves); as well as many nieces and nephews. Grace was predeceased by her husband George in 1999, parents Alvin and Emma (Ferguson) Lough, and her brother Alvin F. Lough of Regina. MILLS, Patricia Florence - 1947 - 2008. Pat died on Monday, December 15, at home surrounded by family, two years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer; a time of reunion, remembrance, love and joy. Pat is mourned by John Bryden, her loving partner and best friend, brothers John (Thunder Bay), Richard, (Victoria), Douglas (Vancouver); sisters Marilyn Harbour (Aurora), Susan Varey (West Palm Beach), step daughter/friend Alison McKinnon (Hamilton), a nephew and many nieces and their children as well as numerous dear friends. Pat was born in Cornwall, Ontario on July 21, 1947 to the late Anne (MacMillan) and Jack Mills. After graduating from CCVS, Pat worked for the Federal Government in Ottawa. In 1988, she joined the Provincial Government in Toronto where she was blessed with the “most wonderful job in the world” as Chief Administrative Officer in the Office of the Children's Lawyer until her retirement in 1997. Pat enjoyed her retirement doing volunteer work, traveling and entertaining her family and friends. MCLEOD, Ross Ian - 75, passed away on Wednesday, October 15th, 2008, at Providence Healthcare Centre, Toronto, after a courageous year long battle with cancer. Born in Toronto he was the son of the late Percy and Florence McLeod. He spent many years in the insurance industry in Toronto but for the past 20 years lived in the Lindsay area where he stayed until his illness made it necessary for him to move. Ross was never shy about helping neighbours and friends in any way he could. He became involved in his community as a member of the Moose Lodge and various card groups and always had a kind word and a joke to share with the many friends he made during his life. Ross was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dolores. Also predeceased by his second wife, Doreen and “best buddy“ and brother-in-law Bill Robinson. Ross leaves behind his daughter Susan (Terry) Morrison; his grandchildren Derek, Blaise, Monica, Austin and Connor; his twin sister and best friend Joan Robinson, who was at his side every day until the end; and sister Eleanor Mercer. He will also be missed by his niece Sharon Mercer and nephews Bill and Brian Mercer with whom he spent many good times and lots of laughter. Funeral Services and interment were held in Toronto. PRICE, Janet Hendry (née Yates) - Surrounded by her loving family, Janet passed away peacefully, at age 87, on December 13, 2008. Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Stanley, Janet is survived by children Donald, Sheila, Marion, and grandchildren Jordan, Rachel, Connor and Geordie. Janet was a proud Glaswegian (Glasgow, Scotland). She was a member of the WRNS during World War II and met Stan at one of the famous war-time dances on 4/4/44. She came to Canada in 1946 and was married in Sault Ste. Marie in 1947. Over the years in Niagara Falls, Saint John and Fredericton, Janet was active in the Presbyterian Church and the St. Andrews Society. Her work as a volunteer in the Literacy Council in New Brunswick and the Family and Children's Services in Ontario was highly commended. Janet loved playing bridge, working in the garden, baking, sewing, knitting, hosting dinner parties, travelling with Stan and writing short stories (once published in the Reader's Digest). She believed in life-long learning, taking French and Russian languages and writing courses in her spare time. Janet lived life to the fullest, was an eternal optimist with a delightful sense of humour, was caring of others and was loved by all who knew her. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 2 pm, Erindale Presbyterian Church, 1560 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, east of Erin Mills Parkway.
