Martin Larocque (1917-2008) - À l'Hôpital de Lamèque, le jeudi 11 décembre 2008, à l'âge de 91 ans, est décédé Martin Larocque, époux de feu Clarenda Ferron, domicilié aux Résidences Beau Rivage, mais autrefois de Cap-Bateau. Né le 24 août 1917, il était fils de feu Phillias Larocque et de feu Elizabeth Haché. Il laisse dans le deuil une fille, Martha (Rhéal Loisel) de l'Ontario; un fils, Antonie Larocque (Françoise) de Montréal; un frère, Aurèle Larocque de Le Goulet; une belle-soeur, Adella Larocque de Cap-Bateau; deux gendres: Eliodore Ferron et Guy-Marie Chiasson, ainsi que plusieurs petits-enfants, arrière-petits-enfants, arrière-arrière-petits-enfants, neveux et nièces. Deux filles: Linova et Marie-Paule, ainsi qu'un fils, Henri-Paul, l'ont précédé dans la tombe. À la demande de M. Larocque, il n'y aura pas de visites au salon. MILLS, Patricia Florence - 1947 - 2008. Pat died on Monday, December 15, at home surrounded by family, two years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer; a time of reunion, remembrance, love and joy. Pat is mourned by John Bryden, her loving partner and best friend, brothers John (Thunder Bay), Richard, (Victoria), Douglas (Vancouver); sisters Marilyn Harbour (Aurora), Susan Varey (West Palm Beach), step daughter/friend Alison McKinnon (Hamilton), a nephew and many nieces and their children as well as numerous dear friends. Pat was born in Cornwall, Ontario on July 21, 1947 to the late Anne (MacMillan) and Jack Mills. After graduating from CCVS, Pat worked for the Federal Government in Ottawa. In 1988, she joined the Provincial Government in Toronto where she was blessed with the “most wonderful job in the world” as Chief Administrative Officer in the Office of the Children's Lawyer until her retirement in 1997. Pat enjoyed her retirement doing volunteer work, traveling and entertaining her family and friends. TKACHUK, John Ivan - (March 4, 1921- December 12, 2008) - With sorrow we announce the passing of John on December 12, 2008 at the SRH (Memorial Site) after a short illness. Predeceased by his parents George and Maria, his wife Katherine and several brothers. He is survived by his sister Florence, his children Daniel, Darlene, Joyce, Barbara and his grandchildren Megan, Melanie, Craig, Ben, Chris, Vikki, Amy and Erin. John was born near Gardenton in southern Manitoba and travelled extensively for his work before he finally settled with his family in Sudbury in 1968. He was proud of his skills as a construction Steam Fitter and of his membership with the United Association Local 800. OBITUARY ANNE MARIE TEKKER (nee PEREDY) Born in 1917 in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, and predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1996, died December 12, 2008 at St Mary's Hospital with her daughter Barbara at her side. She had just joyfully celebrated her ninety-first birthday at the Catherine Booth Hospital in the presence of her extended family. She will be sadly missed by her son Peter Tekker (Kathryn) of Ancaster Ontario, her daughter Andrea (Peter Blanar), and her daughter Barbara (Alex Brzezinski) all from Montreal, grandchildren, Beatrix (Bill) Argeropoulos, Rob (Christine) Tekker, all from Toronto, and Dr. Christopher Blanar (Jessica McBride), Lydia Blanar, Nicolas, Julianne and Zack Brzezinski, from Montreal, great-grandchildren Angela and Steve Argeropoulos, and Danielle and Julia Tekker, as well as many friends here and in Hungary. Escaping from Hungary in 1944, Anne Marie and Joseph overcame the many challenges of postwar dislocations, and settled in Canada in 1951. They became active in the Hungarian community, founding the Hungarian St. Stephen's Ball in 1959. Their home was always the center of good food and hospitality. After her husband's death, she lived many happy years at the Foyer Hongrois, surrounded by childhood friends, colleagues, and many new friends. Anne Marie gave her three children the gift of laughter, the magic of story telling and an interest in the intricacies of human behaviour. She and Joseph taught their children to value nature, hard work and community activism. In the last five years, Anne Marie's resilience and stamina became increasingly evident. The family thanks Emmi Belenta, Marianne Chirke, Loli Saly and Eva Pekari, Rozsi and Sylvia at the Foyer Hongrois, Tina and Kathy and the caring staff and residents at residence Ste Anne. In particular we thank Julia and Babu Adam for their loving care in these last six months, as well as Dr. David and Maria Thomas and Ulla and Erich Krayer. WILSON, Wayne Charles - In loving memory of Wayne Charles Wilson, 76 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Sunday, December 14th, 2008 at the Maison Vale Inco Hospice, Sudbury. Born in Kagawong, Manitoulin Island and raised in the Sudbury area, Wayne graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He served for thirty years with INCO, working as a Superintendent at the Copper Refinery, Process Technology (Central Services) and later serving as Materials Processing Co-ordinator until his retirement in 1986. Early in his life, Wayne was deeply affected by the philosophy of the Christopher's society, “It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness“ and this inspired him to embark on a lifelong commitment to community service. His legacy of service and commitment brought deep peace and has inspired many others. Wayne was a thirty-year member of the Sudbury General Hospital Board, serving as chairman of the board for a number of years, and later serving on the board of the St. Joseph's Health Center. He was a member of the Executive Board of the Victorian Order of Nurses, Network North, St. Joseph's Villa, Sudbury District Health Council, and the Mended Hearts Association. Wayne was committed to his faith and served on Christ the King Parish Council as well as acting as a Lay Minister of the Eucharist, administering to those both at the church as well as in hospital. Although Wayne struggled with heart disease for most of his life, he was determined to live his life to the fullest, treasuring his travel adventures with his wife Stephanie and time with his family. He loved every moment spent in his garden and in the pursuit of making the perfect wine, and had a deep passion for bird-watching, cherishing the time he spent with his brother in the pursuit of his feathered friends. Beloved husband of Margaret (Bannon) Wilson predeceased 1978 and of Stephanie (nee Sekerak)(Urban) Wilson of Sudbury. Loving father of Craig Wilson (wife Lorraine Allard) of Toronto, Catherine Smith (predeceased)(husband David of England), Marnee Wilson of Oshawa and Rebecca Wilson (partner Joe Strachan) of Sudbury, John Urban (wife Cheryl) of Ancaster and Thomas Urban (wife Tammy) of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Chris Smith, Sacha Faubert, Thierry Faubert, Matthew Urban, Megan Urban, Ryan Urban, Lauren Urban and Ethan Urban. Dear son of Charles and Florence (Sloan) Wilson predeceased. Dear brother of Cecil Wilson (Yvonne predeceased) of London, Joan Barbeau (Aurele predeceased), and Karen Sorenson (husband Tom) both of Sudbury. Sadly missed by nieces and nephews. GIROUARD, Marie-Claire S.N.J.M. À Longueuil, le 14 décembre 2008, à l'âge de 95 ans, est décédée Soeur Marie-Claire Girouard, en religion Sylvia Marie. Fille de Josaphat Girouard et Sylvia Patenaude, elle consacra toute sa vie à la musique comme professeure aux couvents d'Hochelaga, Valleyfield et Outremont. Avant sa retraite en 1996 elle fût, pendant 13 ans, organiste titulaire de la Basilique-Cathédrale de Valleyfield. Elle laisse dans le deuil, outre les membres de sa famille religieuse, ses frères Albini (Liliane Lamy), Jean (Andrée Bérard) et André (Araceli Jardeleza). L'ont prédécédée dans la mort sa soeur Annette (Cyrias Blouin), ses frères Laurent (Louise Pontbriand), Clément (Thérèse Beausoleil) et Sylvio (Patricia Krohe). Elle sera exposée à la Maison Jésus-Marie des Soeurs des Saints Noms de Jésus et de Marie 86, rue St-Charles Est Longueuil (Québec) J4H 1A9 le 18 décembre à 13 heures. JOHNSTON, James Forbes (Retired Director, Investigations Division, Dept. of National Revenue) On December 14, 2008, peacefully with his family by his side, Jim Johnston passed away at the age of 78.
