CUTHBERTSON, Doris Adelle - of Sarnia, born July 5, 1918 in the town of Port Hope passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at age 90. Wife of the late Donald R. Cuthbertson (1987). Survived by son, William “Budd” Smith and daughter- in-law Sharon Smith of Oshawa, two surviving grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Also survived: brother, Don Budd and his wife Martha of Cobourg, sister, Gwen Burgher and her husband Bill of Cobourg as well as several nieces and nephews. Doris was a life member of Delta Chi Sigma sorority and a member of Dunlop United Church in Sarnia. At Mrs. Cuthbertson's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. DENNIS, John Delos - Passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital on Sunday, November 9, 2008. Mr. John Dennis of Foster St. Simcoe in his 89th year. Son of the late Earl and Myrtle Dennis and much beloved husband of the late Margaret Dennis (February 1991) He is survived by his loving son; Robert Dennis and his wife Corrie of Brantford, loving daughter; Brenda Lee of Simcoe (predeceased by son-in-law; Douglas Lee, June 2008), cherished grandfather of Karen Rosehart (Don) of Simcoe and Barbara Smith (Jason) of Brantford and predeceased by Kevin. And great-grandfather of Nathan, Abigail, Jacob, Ethan and Austin. Also surviving is his brother-in-law; Arnold Boyd of Quebec and sister-in-law; Leona Bell (Harry) of Ottawa, nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his sister; Rena Andress and brother; Layard Dennis (Marion). John was a mechanic for the American Can Company for many years. Dear daughter of Elizabeth and George Dyer of Ottawa. Sister of Evelyn Stinson (Howard) of Ottawa, June Lebreton (Stanley) of Carleton Place, and Walter Dyer (Leona) of Perth. Predeceased by brothers George (Mildred) and Edwin (Eileen), and sisters Dorothy (Ronald Lake), Hazel (Glen Cumming) and Edna (Ken Potter). Florence will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, her nephews, her grandnieces and her grandnephews. She will be deeply missed by Darlene, Thomas and Rosemary. She was a long-time dedicated volunteer (35 years) at the Riverside Hospital, an avid bridge player, and an active member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Alta Vista Drive. We will miss her strength and good humour. HOLUB, Sherron Sherron Holub, passed away at the Peterlougheed Hospital on November 6, 2008, at the age of 67 years. Sherron will be lovingly remembered by her children; Brad (Carrie) Holub and Robyn (James) Rotteau and six grandchildren; Alexandra, Michael, Elliot, Shae, Tait and Gabriella. Sherron was diagnosed with Scleroderma at the age of twenty-three; she struggled with the illness and its after effects her entire life, but she always kept a positive attitude. Family and friends always came first and were everything to Sherron. This is evident by her strength and commitment in raising her two adopted children, as well as her many lifelong friendships, regardless of how ill she was feeling. Sherron found a source of comfort and assurance with the Scleroderma foundation as she very much wanted to help find a cure for this debilitating disease. 1936-2008 Dorothy Lavina Gulliver, widow of the late Donald D. Gulliver, of the Bay du Vin River Road, Bay du Vin, passed away at her residence, as a result of a house fire, on Monday, November 4, 2008, at the age of 72. Born in Bay du Vin, on March 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Minor and Dorothy (Fraser) Dutcher. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Bay du Vin. She is survived by two daughters, Constance Durelle, of Napan and Patricia Gulliver, of Miramichi; one son, George Gulliver (Audrey), of Auburnville Road, Bay du Vin; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Isabel Sweezey, of Mriamichi; one brother, Peter Dutcher, of Bay du Vin; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, in 1998; one son in law, Fernand Durelle; two sisters, Violet Kingston and Flora King; one brother, John Dutcher By request, there was no visitation at the funeral home. A public funeral service was held from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Bay du Vin, on sunday, November 9, 2008, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Richard and Capt. Rose Steeves. Music for the service was provided by Mrs. Dawn Bell and the hymns were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "I Need Thee Every Hour". The recessional hymn was "Safe In the Arms Of Jesus". The scriptures were read by Amanda Gulliver and Shannon Jardine. The honorary pallbearers were Donnie Fraser, Harold McLenaghan, Harry Williston, Ian Williston, David Williston, Doug Williston, Terry Dutcher, Alan Kingston, George Mazerolle, Gary Williston, Eddie Phee and Ralph Gilliss. The active pallbearers were Windsor Kingston, Danny Dutcher, Ricky Kingston, Jason Sweezey, Jody Jardine, Roy McLenaghan. Interment was in the church cemetery, Bay du Vin. BANKS-Evelyn Mae (Irwin) passed away peacefully on November 7, 2008 at the Gainsborough and Area Health Centre at the age of 85. Evelyn was born at Meyronne, Saskatchewan, May 26, 1923. As a lifelong advocate for the proper use of the English language, Evelyn attended Moose Jaw Normal School and taught in Regina and several rural schools. While teaching at Arthur School in Auburnton she met Roy Banks. They married in 1947. Evelyn and Roy raised a family and farmed north of Oxbow until retiring to Oxbow in 1970. They enjoyed many family camping trips, traveled widely and in retirement spent winters in Weslaco, TX. Evelyn transformed the stories of growing up during the Dirty Thirties into articles for the Saskatchewan History and Folklore Society's Folklore magazine. Evelyn was active in the National Farmers Union, NDP, United Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Oxbow Ladies Reading Club, Oxbow Art Club, Ada Staples Library, South East Library Board, Oxbow History Book, Donor's Choice and the Friendship Club of Oxbow. Predeceased by her parents Leota and Walter Irwin; husband Roy; daughter Irene; sisters Elizabeth Hartz and Doris Smallshaw and brothers Nelson Irwin and Aden Irwin. Survived by her son Walter (Laura) Banks of Waterloo, ON; daughters Sheila (Reg) Glennie of Wadena, SK and Karen (Dick) McMurray of Kitchener, ON; sister Edith (Jack) Stead; and grandchildren Kelsey Glennie, Kyall Glennie, Katherine(Richard) Walsh, Carleton Banks and Devin Glennie. A service to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 3:00 pm at St. Paul's United Church, Oxbow, SK. Reverend Lori Erhardt officiating with interment to follow at the Oxbow cemetery.
