LOONEY, Marion Dell Verity (Laing) - Peacefully at her residence, Hazelton Place, Toronto, on Friday, October 31, 2008 in her 100th year. Predeceased by her husbands, Reginald Emery Verity (Brantford), Fred Peters (Tulsa) and Harold Looney (Tulsa). Marion leaves her daughters Sondra Verity (Howard Annis) and Isabelle Rolph (Michael), six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Marion was born in Brantford, Ontario and was recognized as one of Canada's leading operatic sopranos of her time. At the early age of ten, she won the gold medal in competition at the Canadian National Exhibition. On graduation, Marion went on to a 20 year operatic career giving concerts across Canada, the USA and Europe. Her mentor was the world renowned Canadian tenor, Edward Johnson, with whom she often sang in concert. Marion was very proud of her Canadian heritage and highlights of her career included appearances as guest soloist with the Canadian choir, specifically when they sang at Albert Hall in London, England, and her many invitations to Ottawa by Prime Minister Mackenzie King, appearing as guest soloist at Government House. Following the untimely death of her husband, Reg Verity, Marion married Fred Peters and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1965. Along with Fred, Marion then became active in the Tulsa Opera Company and the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra. Following Fred's death, Marion stayed in Tulsa and married Harold. After Harold's death, she moved back to Toronto in 2000 to join daughters and their families. PALERMO, Giovanni “John” Palermo - passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Monday, November 10, 2008 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Petronilla (nee Cimino). He was predeceased by his parents Natale and Maria and brothers Nicola and Vincenzo in Italy. Giovanni was born in Conflenti, Catanzaro, Italy and came to Canada in 1956. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and worked at Page Hersey from 1967 until his retirement in 1995. The family will receive their friends at J.J. LUCIANI, Josephine Mary “Josie“ - A Danville, California resident, died on Sept. 3 at the age of 72. She was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada, and attended Notre Dame High School in Welland, Ontario. She lost her father at a very early age and was partially raised by her loving Grandma Battista who taught her the beautiful Italian language. She met the love of her life, Frank D. “Fritz“ Luciani, while still a teenager and they were married in 1955. In 1972 they moved to California where Josie's husband, Fritz, spent 23 years in a management position with the Kaiser Health Plan in Oakland, California. In 1980, to help celebrate their 25th. wedding anniversary, they travelled to Castropignano, Italy, to discover their roots. She suffered from cancer for the last 5 years of her life. She is survived by her husband of 53 years; sons Patrick of Concord, Ca.; Christopher (Linda) of Cleveland, Ohio; Kerry (Robin) of Spokane, WA; and Jay of Diego Garcia; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 11315816

Elvera was born in Penatanguishine Ontario on August 1, 1915 and spent all of her life in Port Colborne. Elvera had a rewarding and successful career as a teacher for 42 years in Port Colborne. She was much loved and respected by generations of pupils, many of whom credit her for the solid foundation that she nurtured in her classroom. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Women's League, a volunteer driver with Meals on Wheels, a popular Bridge partner and a member of the Retired Teachers' Federation. DOMPIERRE, Juliette Albina June 03, 1912 - Nov 09, 2008 Juliette was born in Crysler Ontario to Omer and Albertine Trudeau. She graduated from nursing at Sacred Heart Hospital in Hull in 1933, working there and at the provincial psychiatric facility in Brockville. She later returned to Montfort Hospital on the maternity ward, until 1972, but really, she nursed until near the end of her life, as she always was caring for someone in need. She married Aldege Dompierre, who had a long career at the NRC, and had two daughters, Odette (Ottawa) and Lyse (Vancouver with Bob Phillips). She was widowed in 1975, moving then to Chateau Vanier, where she learned to swim and play bridge, as well as bowling and travelling, activities that kept her happily busy until the challenge of daily living prompted a move to Ogilvie Villa, where she continued to increase her circle of friends. Due to failing health, she moved in 2007 to Montfort extended care home. The eldest of her family, she is survived by her sister Claudette McLean (Ottawa), having been pre-deceased by Rene, Laurette, Leo, Gabrielle, Jean and Henri. OBITUARY Keith McKeown Born in Montreal, October 15, 1943. Died at home in Mississauga, November 9, 2008, displaying his usual dignity and humour while surrounded by his family. Keith is survived by his loving wife Eva and daughter Agatha (Peter Cheasley) of Beaconsfield, Que. He will be sadly missed by his brother Ross (Geri), of Toronto, their sons Bradley and Grant and nieces Alix and Katie, his sister Wendy (Ian Poole) of Lake Placid, NY, and children Todd (Tracey), Debbi and Ryan. Keith possessed natural athletic skills that served him well in his youth and people management skills that contributed to his successful career. He traveled the world organizing and managing the accommodation and catering aspects of major construction projects. Keith was the General Manager of the Beaconsfield Golf Club in Pointe Claire, and, more recently, the Markland Woods Golf Club in Etobicoke, Ont. OBITUARY JAMES WING (NG WING WAH) 1912 - 2008 Departed to his eternal rest with the Lord on November 9, 2008 in Montreal. Predeceased 27 years earlier by his first wife Guim Shong Lee, 5 hours earlier by his wife in second marriage, Imelda Morin and by his son Gok Gee. He will be mourned by his children Fa Shao (Teng Wu Yun), Su Yue (Bai Jun Yi), and Simon (Mary Diovisalvi) and by his grandchildren Hui Fong, Hui Qing, Hui Hong, Yan Hong, Xiao Qi, Sara Lina, and Emily and four great-grandchildren. Born in Toy Sun, China, he arrived in Canada in 1923 at the age of 11 and paid the Head Tax. To provide the best future for his children, he struggled hard to achieve a college education. Active in the Chinese community, he served as an elder in the Montreal Chinese Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, president of the Ng clan association and worked in the movement to redress the Head Tax, sharing his story to the community and government and in the documentary films Moving the Mountain (by William Dere and Malcolm Guy) and In the Shadow of Gold Mountain (by Karen Cho, National Film Board). WESTFALL, Delmar Alonzo 1923 - 2008 God saw Delmar getting tired and called him home on November 4, 2008. Delmar will be sadly missed by his eternal loving wife and partner Helen; two daughters Wendy Debra (Edwin) Woolley of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Susan Michelle (Roy) Peters of Surrey, B.C.; a son, Grayden Michael (Kathy) of Temple City, California; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Bessie Westfall, by a son, Rodney Merrick and a brother Archie of Pueblo, Colorado, U.S.A. He was deeply dedicated to his faith and served in numerous positions and callings in the church - including Bishop of Calgary 4th Ward. He was a dedicated husband, father and friend. Delmar was raised and received his education in the Ross Lake and Jefferson areas of Southern Alberta. He finished his education in Calgary and worked for forty-four years in the head office in the insurance industry in the business administration section, besides attending advanced accounting classes for four more years. He will be remembered as a hard worker who was devoted to his loving family and enjoyed family gatherings. Jacques will be sadly missed but not forgotten. Gérard W. Landry 1927-2008 'A l'Hôpital régional Dr. Georges-L-Dumont de Moncton, le mercredi 11 novembre 2008, à l'âge de 81 ans est décédé suite à une courte maladie, Gérard W. Landry, domicilié à Shédiac, Résidence O'Bons Soins, mais autrefois de Bas Cap-Pelé. Né le 5 mars 1927 à Bas Cap-Pelé, il était fils de feu Wilfred et Antoinette (Cormier) Landry. Gérard était un pècheur avant se retiré. Il laisse dans le deuil son fils Eugène (Marina) de Petit-Cap, quatre filles: Alfreda Doiron (Terry), Francine LeBlanc (Everard) de Bas Cap-Pelé, Marita LeBlanc (Gaston) de Haute-Aboujagane, Monette Landry (Roger Doiron) de Cap-Pelé; douze petits-enfants, treize arrière-petits-enfants, ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. Son épouse Doris (Niles) Landry (2004), deux filles: Denise (enfant) et Janice Cormier; quatre soeurs: Adeline, Jeanne, Lucienne, et Archangela, ainsi qu'un frère Jean-Baptiste l'ont précédé dans la tombe. Remembrance Day November 11, 2008 ALBERT ERNEST ALLNUTT 1908 -1995 Veteran of WWII, Royal Canadian Artillery, First Survey Regiment. Dad signed up in September 1939 when he was thirty-two years old. He married our mother (Helen) in April 1940. Landing in England in September 1940, he spent three years training there. He landed in Sicily, in the fall of 1943, and from January 1944 till February 1945 fought in Italy. He was among the first to return after V-E day. Remembered with love and pride by his children, Diane, Robert and Alan, by his son-in-law John and his daughters-in-law Alanna and Janet, by their children and by many many others. David was an Inco miner for 32 years at Garson, Creighton and Stobie Mines. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending his time with his children and grandchildren especially.
