LOWES, Jacob W. - At the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Sunday, November 2, 2008. Beloved husband of 58 years to Norma Vass. Loving father to Gregory and grandfather to Bridget. Predeceased by parents David and Lena Lowes of Emily Township, brothers Milton, David, Wallace, Thomas, Nelson and his sister Derena Clark. Survived by sisters Alverta O'Connell and Olvie Cummisky. Brother in law to Doreen and Morris Patton, Dennis and Betty Vass and Lenna Lowes. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and his dear friends Bill, Rochelle & Sammy Bowers and Edna Rankin. At Jacob's request there will be no visitation or memorial service. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service was held with Reverend Malcolm Young of Park Street Baptist. Many thanks to the nurses and Doctor's of the Dialysis Unit and the nurses on B6 at the PRHC. In memory of Jacob donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. HARKONEN,Eine J. 2008-11-04 Eine J. Harkonen passed away Friday, October 31st, 2008 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre after a lengthy illness. He was born in Dryden, ON, March 27th, 1942 and resided in Quibell, ON until 1959 when he joined Ontario Hydro, Ear Falls and later moved to Terrace Bay and Thunder Bay retiring in 1982 due to ill health. He is survived by two sons Cyrus (Mary) and Myles, granddaughter Ella, brothers Edwin (Pirkko), Eric and Elbert, stepmother Aune, nephew Harold and niece Linda and relatives in Finland. Predeceased by his parents Eli and Linnea and a sister in infancy. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Ovide Cormier (1950-2008) - Accidentellement, en faisant ce qu’il a aimé le plus, Ovide "Bibi" Cormier, âgé de 58 ans, de Shédiac, avenue Smith, est mort tragiquement en pêchant, le samedi 1er novembre 2008. Né le 28 février 1950 à Bas Cap-Pelé, il était fils de Stella (LeBlanc) et de feu Lionel Cormier. Dear father of Bill Willis (Judy), Louanna Alexander-Hudgel (David) and Frank Willis (Jane). Also survived by 46 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and their children and many nieces and nephews who all loved and adored him. Predeceased by his son Jack and daughters Marilyn Gibbs, Sharon Graham, Margaret Johnson-Cook and Morlene Willis. Bump retired from Polysar after 42 years of service. Born in Chatham Township, she was the daughter of the late Marion Burrell and Nelson Yott. She will be sadly missed by: her daughter: Deborah Brown and her husband Bryan of London, her three grandchildren, Roni-Leigh, Jani, and Michael, a brother, Lorne Yott of Chatham and many nieces and nephews. CARLEY, Mr. William - It is with great sadness the family of William “Bill“ Carley announce his sudden death on Sunday November 2nd, 2008. William J. (Bill) Carley of Chatham, born August 2nd, 1937, passed away in his 72nd year. Loving son of the late Harold and Vernetta Carley. Survived by his daughters Deborah Kent of Chatham, Kim Gordon and her husband Bob of Glencoe, Cheryl Alliett and her husband Julius, Roberta Lachine and her companion Roy Mills all of Chatham, and sons William Carley Jr. of Regina, Saskatchewan, and Donald and his wife Shelly Carley of Chatham. Dear brother of Hilda Lees and her husband Al of Chatham and Ronald Carley of Conyers, Georgia. He will be lovingly remembered by his nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Patrick and his sister Virgilia (Jill) Misener. Bill was a member of the U.A.W. Local 127 and retired from Navistar on 1987. MORSE, Rose (Dawson) - After a long, beautiful life, Rose Dawson Morse passed away at her residence in her 93rd year, on Sunday November 2, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late Wesley M. Morse (1965). IRELAND, Dennis - Passed away peacefully at Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village on Sunday November 2, 2008 after a lengthy illness, which he bore with courage and grace. NICHOLSON, Thomas George (19432008) - Passed away suddenly at home on November 2, 2008. Dearly beloved husband of Wynne, his wife of 37 years, father of Scott and Ty and his fiancée, Laura Thompson. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Connie, George is survived in Northern Ireland by his brothers Jim (Margaret), Harry (Moira), Mervyn (Sharon) and his nieces Karen, Lynne (Peter), Gayle, Jane, Jenny and Jill. Much loved son-in-law of Evelyn and the late Harold Griffiths, brother-in-law of Rob (Dawn), Owen (Linda), Rodger (Barb) and uncle of Torrey, Braden (Charlotte), James, Brianne (Jeff), Adam and Garth. Born in Minterburn, Northern Ireland, George was a graduate of Dungannon Royal School and Queen's University, Belfast (B.A.). In 1966, he emigrated by tramp steamer to Canada where he earned his M.A. at Queen's University, Kingston, followed by his Ph.D. at Penn State University. Recently retired as Associate Director, Policy / Implementation after 30 years in the Niagara Region Planning Department. George spent much of the last several years developing the Greater Niagara Circle Route. An avid cyclist often seen in his red jacket riding the trails of Niagara, George recently cycled the Waterfront Trail from Niagara to the Quebec Border and had dreams of cycling across Canada. He will be missed by his many friends, former colleagues and fellow parishioners at St. Thomas Anglican Church. GARRETT, Mildred Mabel 2008-11-04 Mrs. Mildred Mabel Garrett (nee: Kannegiesser) passed away unexpectedly at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with her family at her side on Monday, November 3, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Mildred was born April 15, 1928 and was a life long resident of the Thunder Bay area. She loved to fish and was an avid bingo player and played with the Westfort Community Centre Cribbage Club. Her biggest love was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mildred was predeceased by her husband Charles Kannegiesser in 1965, infant son Brian in 1948, daughter Charlene Coreau in 1989, and her second husband George Garrett in 2000. She is survived by her best friend and daughter Lenore Buzzi (husband Rick), son Paul Kannegiesser (wife Barbara) of London, Ontario, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother Richard Pike (wife Joyce) and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Gordon Holroyd of St. Paul‘s Anglican Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel. MOERSCH, Frank Joseph August 9, 1929 - November 1, 2008 Frank Joseph Moersch, beloved husband of Doreen of Beiseker, passed away peacefully at Chinook Hospice on November 1, 2008, after a courageous fight with cancer, at the age of 79 years. Born in St. Ingbert, Germany, where his family raised and trained German Shepherds. Frank came to Canada in 1952 and began his hotel career in Moose Jaw, SK. After the birth of his two daughters, the family moved to Calgary in 1967 and to Beiseker in 1976. He married his second wife Doreen in 1980. He loved animals of all kinds, especially birds and dogs. He is also survived by his daughters Joss and Sandra; grandchildren, Jordan, Matthew, Colby, Haley, Nicole, Danielle; great-grandchild Kaire; his brothers, Fred (Sally) and Albert; his sister Theresa (Gene). Frank was predeceased by his first wife Anna May and three brothers. The family would like to thank all the great people at Chinook Hospice for the care given to Frank. MURRAY, Jane Campbell Grey Briggs Jean passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2008 at the age of 92 years. She was born in Livingston Station, Scotland on December 23, 1915. Jean met Claude in Scotland during World War II and they were married December 5, 1942. She moved to Canada in 1945 and when Claude returned from the war they settled in the Calgary area. Jean worked for Canadian Pacific Railway for over eighteen years. After retiring from CP, Jean returned to the workforce part-time as a clerk in crystal and fine china at Birks & Company before finally retiring for good in 1985. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her two children, Thomas (Donna) Murray and Claudia (Allen) Emes; five grandchildren, Jane (Dave) Kawaluskas, Peter (Dawn) Emes, David Emes and Jane Emes; granddaughter-in-law, Jennette Murray and great-grandchildren, Ehlana Kawaluskas, Eva Kawaluskas, Kaitlyn Murray, Gillian Murray and Alena Webber. She was predeceased by her husband Claude in 2003 and grandson Doug Murray in 2008. Jean was a stoic Scottish Lass and was happiest around her family especially her children and grandchildren.
