Survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert John Lusk. Loving mother of Robert John (Ginette) of Moncton, NB; Ronald Patrick (Barbara) of Moncton, NB; Gordon Thomas (Barbara) of Pointe Claire, Quebec; Margaret Ruth (Ivan Listar) of London, Ontario; and Colleen Louise (Robert Morin) of Ottawa. Also will be missed by Kaye Brown. Loving grandmother of Kristine (Jon Hasson); Allison (Tim Silcox); Kimberly (Scott Watson); Greg Lusk (Jackie Witt); Matthew Lusk(Rayna Couture); Matthew Listar; James Lusk; Stefan Listar (Heidi); Martha Lusk; Alexander Lusk; Nicholas Lusk; Michael Morin (Shauna). At a young age she moved to Hornepayne, Ontario where she met her husband Together, as their family grew, they lived in Hornepayne, Capreol, Barrie and Foleyet, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec; Moncton, NB; Lagos, Nigeria; Chittagong, Bangladesh; Mbabane, Swaziland; St. John's, Nfld; Chateauguay, Quebec; and Ottawa. FALKINER, Betty Lou - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at St. Catharines General Hospital on Sunday November 2, 2008 at the age of 55. Beloved wife of 18 years to Dominique Legros. Dearly loved mother of Shawn (Valerie) Falkiner. Cherished grandmother of Natasha Falkiner. PHAIR, Gordon B. - At Henley House, St. Catharines, on Monday, November 3, 2008 in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Leotta Phair (1999). Dear brother of Earl Phair (Gladys Presley) of Metcalfe, ON, and brother-in-law of Norman Toll, Marjorie Morgan (Keith), Gordie Toll (Beverley) and Roy Toll (Helen) and many nieces and nephews. Cherished godfather of Arden Phair and Bonnie Sparrow, and will be greatly missed by Inez Crowe. He was predeceased by his brothers Russell and Alvin Phair. Gordon retired from General Motors in 1981 after 30 years of service. CHEVALIER, M. L'Abbé Charles-Omer - 1920 - 2008 À Saint-Hyacinthe, le 3 novembre 2008 est décédé à l'âge de 88 ans, après 61 ans de sacerdoce, M. l'Abbé Charles-Omer Chevalier. Né à Sorel, il fit ses études aux petit et grand Séminaires de Saint-Hyacinthe. Ordonné prêtre en 1947, il débute sa vie pastorale comme vicaire à l'Ange-Gardien, Mont Saint-Hilaire et paroisse Sacré-Coeur de Saint-Hyacinthe. Il cumule la charge d'aumônier des Syndicats Catholiques de Saint-Hyacinthe avec celle d'aumônier de l'Institut familial des Soeurs St-Joseph et une première cure à Saint-Bernard-de-Michaudville. Curé à Saint-Paul d'Abbottsford, il oeuvre comme aumônier diocésain de l'AFÉAS avant d'être le pasteur de la paroisse Sainte-Maria-Goretti de Beloeil pendant 12 ans. À sa retraite à Saint-Hyacinthe, il demeure en tenue de service comme vicaire dominical, assistant aumônier à l'Hôpital Honoré-Mercier et aumônier des Soeurs de la Charité. Outre ses confrères diocésains, il laisse dans le deuil, de nombreux neveux et nièces autres parents et amis. Il sera exposé, le mardi 4 novembre 2008 de 14 heures à 17 heures et de 19 heures à 21 heures au Séminaire de Saint-Hyacinthe, 650, rue Girouard est Saint-Hyacinthe. SIMON, Helen - Passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 77 years of age. Beloved wife of Tony Simon, loving mother of Theresa Simon of Scarborough, John (Gloria) Simon, Elizabeth (Alan) Martine of Port Colborne, Catherine (David) Nicklaus of Dixon Illinois. Helen will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Matthew Nicklaus, Brittany (Rob) McGaughey, Steve Simon (Megan Martin), Nathan Martine, and great- granddaughter Savannah McGaughey (6 mths), who made her first visit to Canada from Memphis, Tennessee this past summer. Helen is also survived by her sister Margaret (Leo) Wischkowski and their daughter Donna (Richard) Bell. Predeceased by her parents Andrew and Rose Savel. Helen was retired from the Ministry of the Attorney General (Criminal Division) Welland as a Court Recorder. CYR, Guy George Sr. - It is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital with his family at his side. Guy fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past three years. Loving husband of 16 years to Diane (nee Kennedy). Son in law to Clara and the late James (2008) Kennedy of Niagara Falls. Predeceased by daughter Lisa (2002), parents Ova (1992), Jeannine (1990) and sister Marie (1969). Sadly missed by several generations including 14 grandchildren. Guy was an electrician for over 40 years, including 16 years at Thompson Products and Ontario Hydro. He was a member of I.B.E.W. in Ottawa and Local 303 and the Knights of Columbus. Guy's hobbies included playing cards, boating, fishing, scuba diving and spending endless hours puttering around his shop. Many thanks to hospital staff and C.C.A.C. nurse Jim for his care. As per Guy's request, cremation has taken place. MANDZIUK, Mary (August 29, 1913 - October 31, 2008) - Peacefully passed away at the Brantford General Hospital after a long and wonderful life at age 95. Much loved mother of Diane Rintoul and her husband Ed (Brantford), Dan Mandziuk and his wife Karen (St. Catharines); loving and cherished grandmother of Kristen Mandziuk (Vancouver) and Mathew Mandziuk (St. Catharines); also survived by one brother, Nester Evanochko (Regina), many nieces, nephews and relatives in Ukraine. Predeceased by husband Dan (Delhi, 1966), 10 brothers and one sister. Mary was born in Ituna, Saskatchewan to Ukrainian parents, Steve Evanochko and Anna Doroshenko and lived many years in Delhi, Ontario. Mary was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist, the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League and the Sunflower Seniors Club. COUTURE, Reginald 2008-11-04 With his family at his side and the support of his friends, Reg Couture passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2008 at St. Joseph‚s Hospice at the age of 71. After a courageous battle with cancer, Reg will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by Judy, his beloved wife and best friend of 39 years. He worked at Reid‚s Tire, Great Lakes Steel and one of his proudest achievements was being one of the founders of Costal Steel Construction, retiring 19 years ago. ABOUD, Nicholas. September 29, 1919 - November 1, 2008. Peacefully, on November 1, 2008, Nick passed away in his sleep. He is survived by Florence Mary Aboud (Hanna), his loving wife of fifty-five years, his brother Edward, his two sons Karl (Deborah) and Grant (Karen), and his four adoring grandchildren Chad Nicholas, Mallory, Chelsea-Lyn, and Lindsey. He also leaves many wonderful friends and family, including those he met at various golf courses, in the West Island Pointe-Claire Lions Club, and at the Cambridge Seniors Residence. KELEBAY, Yarema Gregory (Gerry). Passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Montreal General Hospital after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Diana Grafton and loving father of Alexandra and Katie, cherished son of Irene and the late Konstantyn Kelebay. Dear brother to George (Christine) and uncle to Tania and Odessa. Will be sadly missed by Diana's family: her mother Pat Grafton, brother Scott (Anna) and nieces Victoria and Laura. Gerry enjoyed many rewarding years as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at McGill University. He was an active and committed member of the Ukrainian Community, for which he was recently presented with the Order of Ukraine. BRYANT, Norma Patricia Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 85, Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Newport Harbour Care Centre. Born in Ontario, she graduated from nursing school in Montreal in 1945 and served in the Canadian Army, where she met and married Capt. Don Bryant. Leaving the army she continued nursing until retirement in Alberta in the 1970's. Dearly missed by sons Gord (Ginny), Allen (Bernie), grandchildren Scott, Todd, Talitha and Joshua, and her sisters Joyce and Dorie. Mom is also survived by family in Ontario and Quebec and mourned by many friends across the country. We miss you dearly "Nanny". You were simply the best! GROENEVELD, Elvera (Vera) Marie (nee Josephson) February 2, 1915 - November 2, 2008 Vera Groeneveld, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, babysitter and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the age of 93 years. As Gramma Gren herself proclaimed, "I have had a good life. God bless you all as He has done for me." Vera was born, an only child, to Swedish immigrants in 1915 on their farm in east central Alberta. In 1935 she moved to Aldersyde to babysit for the Rowland family, and met Flores Groeneveld whom she married in 1938. Vera and Flores raised four children, living at the junction of the Highwood and Bow Rivers for forty-five years. After Flores' passing, Vera lived in Calgary until 1994, when she moved to Okotoks. Vera played the organ in faith and friendship her entire life, from the Gladys Ridge United Church to St. Andrew's Presbyterian in Calgary to the Sandstone Lodge. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, babysitting, farming and the music of her Lord. Vera is survived by three children, daughters Gladys M. Jones of Balzac and Wendy E. Williams (Jack) of Arrowwood, and son David J. Groeneveld of Red Deer Lake. She also leaves behind five grandchildren and their spouses, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by her husband Flores in 1970, son Donald in 1974, and son-in-law Dwaine Jones in 1983. Vera's family welcomes friends to join them in a celebration of her life at Mountain View Funeral Home, east of Calgary (17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road) on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com .
