CONNOR, Donald - Donald Connor, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital, Hanover on Saturday, November 01, 2008, in his 81st year. Survived by sons Bruce (Elizabeth) Connor of R.R.3 Hanover, Raymond (Lynn) Connor of Hanover, daughters Marilyn (Daniel) Francis of London and Norma (David) Knipe of Owen Sound, grandchildren Kyle (Jenn), Matthew, Taylor, Kaitlyn, LeeAnn and Lisa and great-grandchild Cadyn, special friend Sally McKerracher and her family. Also survived by his brother Russell Connor and sister-in-law Violet Connor both of Acton. Predeceased by his wife Marcella (Schnurr) Connor, and brother Arnold Connor. HARKONEN,Eine J. 2008-11-04 Eine J. Harkonen passed away Friday, October 31st, 2008 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre after a lengthy illness. He was born in Dryden, ON, March 27th, 1942 and resided in Quibell, ON until 1959 when he joined Ontario Hydro, Ear Falls and later moved to Terrace Bay and Thunder Bay retiring in 1982 due to ill health. He is survived by two sons Cyrus (Mary) and Myles, granddaughter Ella, brothers Edwin (Pirkko), Eric and Elbert, stepmother Aune, nephew Harold and niece Linda and relatives in Finland. Predeceased by his parents Eli and Linnea and a sister in infancy. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no service. FLATT, Thomas. 1960-2008. After a courageous battle with heart disease, Tom passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on October 31, 2008. He leaves to mourn his beloved April and his extended family Richard and Adam. Predeceased by his parents Otto Flatt and Ruza Kalang and his sister Nancy and survived by his sister Patty and niece Chantal. Tom will be greatly missed by his many friends and all of us that knew him. GROENEVELD, Elvera (Vera) Marie (nee Josephson) February 2, 1915 - November 2, 2008 Vera Groeneveld, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, babysitter and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the age of 93 years. As Gramma Gren herself proclaimed, "I have had a good life. God bless you all as He has done for me." Vera was born, an only child, to Swedish immigrants in 1915 on their farm in east central Alberta. In 1935 she moved to Aldersyde to babysit for the Rowland family, and met Flores Groeneveld whom she married in 1938. Vera and Flores raised four children, living at the junction of the Highwood and Bow Rivers for forty-five years. After Flores' passing, Vera lived in Calgary until 1994, when she moved to Okotoks. Vera played the organ in faith and friendship her entire life, from the Gladys Ridge United Church to St. Andrew's Presbyterian in Calgary to the Sandstone Lodge. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, babysitting, farming and the music of her Lord. Vera is survived by three children, daughters Gladys M. Jones of Balzac and Wendy E. Williams (Jack) of Arrowwood, and son David J. Groeneveld of Red Deer Lake. She also leaves behind five grandchildren and their spouses, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by her husband Flores in 1970, son Donald in 1974, and son-in-law Dwaine Jones in 1983. Vera's family welcomes friends to join them in a celebration of her life at Mountain View Funeral Home, east of Calgary (17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road) on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . All will miss Grandma's homemade Finnish buns and her famous homemade pizza which she loved to spring as a surprise for family dinners. Millie was as excellent a cook, housewife, wife, mother and grandmother as any family could have. She loved cottage life at French River. Thanks to Dr. Hiltz and all the staff at The Moncton Hospital. Benjamin Samuel Ens was born in Hepburn, SK on May 11, 1935, The 10th of 12 children. He moved with his family to St.Catharines, Ontario and later following his passion as an auctioneer in Dunnville, ON. He retired from General Motors and moved to the Moncton Area in New Brunswick. BAIRD, Erma Jean Metcalfe Feb. 23, 1925 - Nov. 2, 2008 Peacefully, Erma Johanna (Jean) Metcalfe Baird passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2008. Beloved wife and best friend of John Robertson Baird of Carp for 53 years. Dearly loved mother of Susan and her husband Douglas Rimmer, Ottawa and John and his wife Brenda (Boothe), Carp. Proud and much loved grandmother of Anne and James Rimmer, Elizabeth and Katie Baird. Will be fondly remembered by brothers Harvey and Stella (Doth) Metcalfe, Ottawa and Bill and Jean (Campbell) Metcalfe, Maxville, cousin Ian Metcalfe, Toronto, sister in law Hazel Baird Davis (late Gordon), Ottawa and by nieces and nephews, as well as many loyal and long time true friends. Predeceased by parents Rupert and Edna (Peresian) Metcalfe of Riceville and Maxville and by brother in law and sister in law Melvin and Evelyn (Miller) Baird of Carp. Joseph Girard 1915 - 2008 Au CHSLD de Saint-Raphaël, le 31 octobre 2008, à l'âge de 93 ans et 6 mois, est décédée monsieur Joseph Girard époux de feu madame Marie Morin. Il demeurait à Saint-Nérée, comté de Bellechasse. La famille recevra les condoléances au Complexe Municipal 1990, rue Principale, Saint-Nérée le mardi 4 novembre 2008 de 19h à 22h.
