McQUILLAN, Dorothy (nee MacMillan) (Smith) - In loving memory of Dorothy (nee MacMillan) (Smith) McQuillan, 84 years, who passed away Monday, October 27th, 2008 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. Born in Victoria Mines, Dorothy worked as The Northern Ontario Manager of Reitmans and Smart Set for many years. She was a woman of great faith, always active in her church, Copper Cliff United and dedicated to the work of the U.C.W. Dorothy was a past President and strong member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 224, Copper Cliff. She also volunteered for a number of groups including the Sudbury Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was a skilled and talented seamstress and knitter. She loved to travel and spend time at her camp on Cutler Lake. Beloved wife of Robert Smith and Jim McQuillan both predeceased. Loving mother of Marilyn Jones (David) of Kitchener, Robert Smith Jr. predeceased (Janet of Port Elgin), Valerie Duhaime (Aurel predeceased) of Silverwater, Sharon Pidgen (Dennis) of Copper Cliff and Judy Scott (Paul) of Wyevale. Loving stepmother of Barry McQuillan (Linda) of Toronto, Brian McQuillan (Jocelyn) of Boston and Marne McKnight (Terry) of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Ceri Maville of Sault Ste Marie, predeceased by Colin and Dave. DAVIDSON, Gertrude Charlotte 'Bud' Badgley - At her residence, Wildwood Care Center, St. Marys, Ontario on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the age of 93. She was the youngest of 13 children, born March 21, 1915 in Golden Valley, Ontario. She resided in South River for most of her life before moving to Greenwood Court, Stratford, Ontario and a few years ago to Wildwood Care Center, St. Marys. Loving mother of Sylvia (George) Barr, Stratford and Ardele (Earl) McCaig, Kitchener. Sadly missed by her daughter-in-law Sharon Sutton-Badgley, Thunder Bay and sister-in-law Jean (Allan) McLellan, New Liskeard. step-mother of Jean (Reid) Crowe and Betty (Joe) Rowbotham. Dear grandmother of Leslie (Christopher), Dawn, Sandra (Matthew), Erla (Jamie), Sheena (Steven), and Robert (Danielle), great-grandmother of Liam, Aidan, Calista and Madison. HAMMILL, Gordon The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I., on Saturday, October 25, 2008, of “Gordon” Redverse Hammill of Kinkora and Middleton, aged 83 years. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on Jan. 15, 1925, to his late parents Redverse and Eva (Dawson) Hammill. Dear husband of Genevieve (nee Greenan). Father of Marilyn (late Danny) Warren, Middleton; Gerard (Debbie) Hammill, Freetown; and Nancy (Larry) Gallant, Middleton. Grandfather to Clair (Nicole) Warren, Mary (Albert) Arsenault, Chris, Vanessa, Mitchell and Tyler Hammill, Crystal (Chris), Amanda, Brittany Gallant, and three great-grandchildren, Angela and Victoria Arsenault and Caden Gallant. Also survived by sisters Elaine McCourt and Freda Smith, both of Summerside; brothers, Eric (Helen) of Newton, Elmer (Mary) of Charlottetown and Edwin (Joan), Freetown; and by sisters-in-law, Irene (Amby) McCarville and Wanda (late Emmett) Conway. Predeceased by his parents, son-in-law Danny Warren, a brother, Rev. Preston Hammill, and brothers-in-law Lloyd McCourt, Pius Croken and Wilfred Smith. Resting at Lawless Funeral Home, 21 Somerset St., Kinkora. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 28, at St. Malachy's Church, Kinkora, with funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. DERCACH, Larry Victor 1955 - 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Larry Victor Dercach, after a short, but courageous battle with brain cancer, at the age of 53 years. Larry was born August 2, 1955 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba to Phyllis and Victor Dercach; and went to meet our Lord on October 22, 2008 at the Olds General Hospital in Olds, Alberta. He was a vibrant active man who enjoyed many outdoor sports and loved his family dearly, especially his children and grandchildren. He became known to Patti's grandchildren as grandpa! Larry's work life was mainly spent driving trucks, and he enjoyed mechanical work in his spare time. He lived a short time in Kelowna, BC and it was his dream to retire there. Since moving to Olds he especially enjoyed mountain biking, camping, hiking and skating at every chance he got. Larry was predeceased by his father Victor Dercach in December of 2004. He is survived by his beloved wife of two short years, Patti (Caveny) (French), his daughter Jennifer Dercach and her children Kesston, Ashton and Jenal, his son Gregory Dercach, stepchildren Sarah French, Matthew French, Michael (Dixi) French and their children Lauren, Cheyanne and Hudson. He is also survived by his mother Phyllis Dercach, his brothers Robert Dercach, Michael (Brenda) Dercach and his sister Laurie (Fred) Jack as well as five nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service celebrating Larry's life will be held at the Word of Life Church in Olds, Alberta on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Larry's name to the Tom Baker Cancer Center, Brain Tumor Clinic, patient financial assistance. FORD, Margaret Teresa (nee Tunney) 1919 - 2008 Margaret, called Peggy by her friends and Gee by her grandchildren, died peacefully early Sunday morning, October 26, in Edmonton at the age of 89. She is survived by her three children, Catherine (Ted Busheikin), Susan (Harry Moffet) and Clinton (Audra Rawlinson) and five grandchildren, Jane Moffet Freeman (Kent), Eamon Moffet (Heather), Kelly Moffet Burima (Joe), Lauren Ford and Alexandra Ford. Margaret is also survived by her much-loved sister, Ann Nutt, and brother, Joseph Tunney. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Robert Evans Ford in 1974; her sister, Mary Lynch and brothers, John and Martin Tunney, all of Ireland. Born in County Mayo, Eire on June 2, 1919, Margaret trained as a nurse in London where she met her future husband, a Canadian airman. They married in 1943. After the war she immigrated to Calgary with her older daughter, Catherine, to be reunited with Bob. The family lived in Calgary where Susan was born, and then in Edmonton, where Clint was born. They moved to Red Deer and after Bob's death, Margaret moved to Sylvan Lake and then to Sherwood Park. Prayers will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Connelly-McKinley Sherwood Park - Millwoods Funeral Home, 4820 Meridian Street, Edmonton at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Roger H. Keeler at St. Michael - Resurrection, 10555 - 50 A Street on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Margaret will be interred next to her husband on Friday in a Private Ceremony in Red Deer Cemetery. ROACH, Paul Frank - With tremendous sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Paul Frank Roach on October 21, 2008, while enjoying a wonderful family vacation in Port Charlotte, Florida, at the age of 64. Paul was the beloved husband and best friend of Sheila and very loving and cherished dad of Brittany. He will also be sadly missed by his much loved “babies“ - “Kodi“, “Kyli“ and “Elmo“. Paul is survived by his sisters, Karen (Norm) Findlay and Barb (Jim) Valeriote, his brothers Danny and Mike (Gail), his mother and father-in-law Edna and Al Lallouet, sister-in-law Bonnie (Dave) and brothers-in-law Dave (Anne Marie) and Brad. He was predeceased by his father, Leo in 1984, his mother, Fern, brother Tim and niece Sarah in 1989, nephew Stephen in 1967 and sister-in-law Brenda in 2003. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss him very much. Paul was an avid sports fan who loved sports of all kinds but baseball and golf were his favourite sports passions. He played for numerous fastball teams over the years, including Welland Dyck's Jewellers, Waxman Scrappers and the Welland Industrial Fastball League. He also played slow pitch and old-timer's hardball for both Port Colborne and Chippawa where “Dr. Foss“ loved to be the hard-throwing right hander! Paul worked as a Certified Management Accountant for Atlas Specialty Steels for 39 years, retiring in 2001. This is when his life became all about being the best daddy in the world to his daughter, Brittany. He was there to take her to dance practices, help with her homework, attend school functions with her, help her improve her softball skills in the backyard or just hang out together watching National Geographic, the History Channel or the “Dog Whisperer“ and pretend that they were “professional dog trainers“. Brittany is going to miss her special one-on-one time with her dad very much! Paul loved to travel and we all enjoyed many fantastic family vacations that will now be remembered forever with pictures and our wonderful memories. He also loved to spend time with his friends, usually reminiscing about a ball game that they played in 10 or 20 years ago or talking about his “awesome“ golf shot that he just hit with his new burner! He especially enjoyed playing golf in the inaugural “Longwall“ Cup this summer with “Dr. Foss“ and “Lou“ coming out on top after a long, hard-fought 5 game match. Respecting Paul's wishes, there will be no funeral or burial service. His body has been cremated and his ashes will be scattered over the various ball diamonds and golf courses that he played on over the years, as he had wished to have done. If desired, donations to the Humane Society in your community or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by our family. McCALL (McKenzie), Gail Patricia 2008-10-28 Mrs. Gail Patricia McCall (McKenzie) age 67 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 in McMaster University Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. Gail was born in Port Arthur on July 4, 1941 to the late Donald and Hazel McKenzie, and was educated at Selkirk Vocational High School. She was married to Dave (David) McCall Sr. on August 7, 1965. Family was foremost to Gail, especially family suppers (she was certain it was always her turn) whether it was at home or camp. Camp at West Green Bay was a special place for her to entertain family and friends. She enjoyed providing day care service and influencing children over the years and was pleased to attend many of their weddings. You could not ask for a better, more loving Mother and Grandmother and friend. She was always there. Gail may have been one person, but she meant the world to many. She is survived by her loving husband Dave; son Donnie and daughter-in-law Michelle; daughter-in-law Andrea; stepdaughter Mandy; 3 grandsons Jesse, Mitchell and Patrick and 2 granddaughters Emily and Alica; brothers Jerry and wife Ann and Ken and wife Stella; sister-in-law Karen Cousineau (Whitby, Ontario);. Also survived by her in-laws Ruth and Jim McCall; Uncle Leo Tuomi (Hamilton, Ontario) and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was predeceased by her Father in 1947; Mother in 1981 and son David McCall Jr. on June 28, 2006. BRAY, Thomas "Tom" Wills (Rev. Dr.) April 10, 1928 - October 26, 2008 Tom Bray, beloved husband of Arlene (nee Anderson) passed away with family by his side at the Agape Hospice on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the age of 80 years. The youngest of four sons, Tom was born in Colgate, SK to the Rev. Dr. Thomas and Mrs. Lilian Bray on April 10, 1928. Tom lived with his family in Hawarden, Grand Coulee and Tuxford, all in SK; he furthered his education at Regina College, the University of Saskatchewan, and St. Andrews College. As an ordained United Church minister he served pastoral charges in Landis, White Fox, Saskatoon and Watrous, all in SK as well as Wainright, AB and Scarboro United in Calgary, where he retired in 1993. Tom's zest for life showed up in his love for his family, his ministry in the church, singing, travel, sports and time spent at the family cottage. Tom is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years Arlene; sons: Tom Jr., and Dave (Chris) all of Calgary; daughters: Karen (Rick) of Oromocto, NB, and Janice (Francis) of Saskatoon, SK. He is also survived by one brother, the Rev. Jack (Elaine) Bray of Regina. He will be missed by grandchildren: Chris (Nathalie), Jennifer (Brad), Stacy, Noah, Maura, Malachy and Eilis; step-grandchildren: Stephen, Sean, Blayne (Jon), and Zach; great-grandchildren: Kyle, Brock, Nikki, Chris, Macy and Maddyx; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, who have been special to him. Tom is predeceased by his parents and brothers: Dr. Lloyd Bray and the Rev. Wesley Bray. MARTIN, Beatrice (nee Picard) - Peacefully passed away in Sudbury, Sunday, October 26th 2008 at the age of 95 years. Daughter of the late Honoré Picard and the late Olive Picard (nee Boyer). Beloved wife of Peter Martin (predeceased August 2004). Loving mother of Claudette Thanasse (Rene), Carole Greasley (Barry), Jocelyn Denis (David), Jo-Ann Philipow (Dan) all from Sudbury and Richard Martin from Columbia, South America. She will be sadly missed by her 10 grandchildren and her 7 great grandchildren. Beatrice is also survived by her brothers Albert (Madeleine) of North Bay, Lucien of London, Simone Cooper (late Newton), Marcelle Gervais (Peter), Françoise Schayer (Don) of Capreol, and Rita Labine (late Edouard) of Sault-Ste-Marie. Predeceased by her brothers, Rémi (Madeleine), Arthur (Florida of Sudbury), Jean Paul (Dorothy of Sudbury), Roland of Sudbury, and by her sister Thérèse Garrow (late Robert). OBITUARY JAMES ALEXANDER RILLIE Ninety-one, died October 23, 2008 at Parkland at the Lakes, Glasgow Hall Nursing Home in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, with his wife Dorothy at his side. Jim was born in Montreal January 14, 1917. He served with the XVII Duke of York's Royal Canadian Hussars in World War II, and was awarded the Military Cross, and other medals. After the war he worked for CIL in Montreal, then for Jergen's in Perth Ontario. In the fifties and sixties, he worked for Canadair in Montreal, and from the early seventies into the eighties, worked as an economic advisor for the Government of New Brunswick until his retirement. Jim was an avid skier, golfer, curler and sports salmon fisherman. He was predeceased by his sister May (Winn). He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Kydd) son James Alexander (Maisie Kelland) daughter Elaine Amy (Stephen Crites) and grandchildren Claire and James Andrew. Cremation has occurred and by request there will be no remembrance ceremony. Donations may be made to Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, Fredericton Branch #4. INGLIS, Hilary Mary (nee: Pease) January 12, 1948 - October 24, 2008 It is with deep sadness that we announce Hilary's passing on Friday, October 24, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Hilary died peacefully with her children Kirsten and Lorin by her side. Born January 12, 1948 in Walton Hall, Yorkshire, Hilary came to Canada in 1969 with her parents and brother and began a teaching career in Fort McMurray. Teaching was a passion for Hilary, and as an adult educator at Bow Valley College and most recently as an ESL teacher at the Calgary Immigrant Educational Society, Hilary's enthusiasm and energy truly touched all those who knew her. Hilary had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel; as well as England and Canada, she lived in Greece, Norway (where her son Lorin was born), Holland, and South Korea. Hilary is survived by her mother, Gwen and brother Gary and was predeceased by her father Neville. KOSTESKY, Diane Lynn (nee Kuzina) In the early morning of October 25, 2008, Diane went peacefully to be with the Lord at her home. Diane Kostesky was born June 14, 1958, the middle daughter of John and Iris Kuzina of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Diane was raised in Winnipeg until 1982 when she moved to Calgary were she made her home. While growing up she attended Miles Macdonell Collegiate, then graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce degree (honours). She met and married Vincent Kostesky on September 16, 1995 and they were blessed with their adopted daughter, Amber Lynn, born August 19, 1997. For most of her blessed life, Diane was very active in sports and social activities, always ready to organize the next function. Unfortunately, sickness struck her in 1996 and then she fought a courageous battle with cancer since 2000. Throughout this ordeal, she not only strengthened her faith, but impacted her family, friends and associates with her bravery and steadfastness; always ready to extend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbours. She was an active member of the New Jubilee Christian Centre of Calgary where she leaves behind many dear friends and prayer partners. May God Bless Every One of Them. ROHRER, Erwin Erwin Rohrer passed away peacefully at his home on October 22, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Erwin will be lovingly remembered by his godchildren, extended family, friends and neighbors of Bridgeland. Erwin was born on September 16, 1925 in Luzern, Switzerland. He immigrated to Canada on February 23, 1950 and settled in Calgary, Alberta. He then received his Canadian citizenship on October 21, 1955.
