LEWIS, Mona (nee Caporicci). Suddenly on Saturday, October 25, 2008. Beloved mother of Debbie, Karen (Peter Poupard). Loving nanny to Shannon, Ashleigh, Brendan, and her littlest Trevor. Cherished sister of Lola (Larry Price) and Mickey (Henrika). Much loved aunt of Eric (Christine), Lori, Nancy (Stef) and Greg, and great aunt to Emma, Jesse, Dylan, Jakob, Mackenzie, and Kaelin. She was taken away from us too soon. Our hearts are broken and she will be missed more than words can tell. OVANS, Katharyn Thurston. Passed away quietly on October 25, 2008 in the Huntingdon County Hospital at the age of 65 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon Ovans, her parents Mary and Humphrey Thurston, her brother Francis Thurston and her sister Bernadette Vaincourt (late wife of Merle). She is survived by her children Alan, Nora, Rodney (Tina) and Terry (Carole), her grandchildren Ashley and Anthony Ykema and Melanie Ovans and five step-grandchildren. Also siblings Florence Irving, Jeannette (Fred Punt), Edmund (Carol), Irene Dumas, Orrick (Sharon), Lyman (Donna), Ann (Martin Holmes), Glenn (Madonna) and Donald (Lynn), many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her best friend John Bolduc. Visistations will be held at Rodrigue Montpetit & Fils, 170 Chateauguay, Huntingdon Tuesday October 28th from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday October 29th from 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Huntingdon St-Joseph Church. Burial at the St-Anicet cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Huntingdon County Hospital in her memory would be appreciated by the family. CRAIG, Larry Walter "The Hunk" July 26, 1947 - October 21, 2008 Larry was born in Barrie, Ontario, and passed away in Vauxhall, Alberta at the age of 61. We all have many memories of our time with Larry. Larry is survived by his mother Jean and father Symen Hoetmer; brothers and sisters, Rick (Diane), Marilyn (Eric), John (Sue), Anna, Ken, and Diane; Aunt Kathleen (Steve); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as Janice and Larry's daughters, Jenell (Nigel), Julie (Nicholas), Jasmin (Danny). DERCACH, Larry Victor 1955 - 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Larry Victor Dercach, after a short, but courageous battle with brain cancer, at the age of 53 years. Larry was born August 2, 1955 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba to Phyllis and Victor Dercach; and went to meet our Lord on October 22, 2008 at the Olds General Hospital in Olds, Alberta. He was a vibrant active man who enjoyed many outdoor sports and loved his family dearly, especially his children and grandchildren. He became known to Patti's grandchildren as grandpa! Larry's work life was mainly spent driving trucks, and he enjoyed mechanical work in his spare time. He lived a short time in Kelowna, BC and it was his dream to retire there. Since moving to Olds he especially enjoyed mountain biking, camping, hiking and skating at every chance he got. Larry was predeceased by his father Victor Dercach in December of 2004. He is survived by his beloved wife of two short years, Patti (Caveny) (French), his daughter Jennifer Dercach and her children Kesston, Ashton and Jenal, his son Gregory Dercach, stepchildren Sarah French, Matthew French, Michael (Dixi) French and their children Lauren, Cheyanne and Hudson. He is also survived by his mother Phyllis Dercach, his brothers Robert Dercach, Michael (Brenda) Dercach and his sister Laurie (Fred) Jack as well as five nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service celebrating Larry's life will be held at the Word of Life Church in Olds, Alberta on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Larry's name to the Tom Baker Cancer Center, Brain Tumor Clinic, patient financial assistance. FORD, Margaret Teresa (nee Tunney) 1919 - 2008 Margaret, called Peggy by her friends and Gee by her grandchildren, died peacefully early Sunday morning, October 26, in Edmonton at the age of 89. She is survived by her three children, Catherine (Ted Busheikin), Susan (Harry Moffet) and Clinton (Audra Rawlinson) and five grandchildren, Jane Moffet Freeman (Kent), Eamon Moffet (Heather), Kelly Moffet Burima (Joe), Lauren Ford and Alexandra Ford. Margaret is also survived by her much-loved sister, Ann Nutt, and brother, Joseph Tunney. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Robert Evans Ford in 1974; her sister, Mary Lynch and brothers, John and Martin Tunney, all of Ireland. Born in County Mayo, Eire on June 2, 1919, Margaret trained as a nurse in London where she met her future husband, a Canadian airman. They married in 1943. After the war she immigrated to Calgary with her older daughter, Catherine, to be reunited with Bob. The family lived in Calgary where Susan was born, and then in Edmonton, where Clint was born. They moved to Red Deer and after Bob's death, Margaret moved to Sylvan Lake and then to Sherwood Park. Prayers will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Connelly-McKinley Sherwood Park - Millwoods Funeral Home, 4820 Meridian Street, Edmonton at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. GILBERT, Lillian 1913 - 2008 Lillian Gilbert of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the age of 95 years. Lillian was born in Ft. Qu'Appelle, SK in 1913. In 1916 she moved to a farm near Drumheller. In 1957 she moved to Calgary. JOHNSTON, Wilfred Henry Passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on October 23, 2008 at the age of seventy-four. Wilfred was born February 17, 1934 in Fairford, Manitoba. He was loved dearly and will be missed by his family and friends. Wilfred was predeceased by his wife Alma, parents Alphonse and Sarah Johnston; sister Madeline, brothers David, Norman; daughter Deborah; and son-in-law Jim Osmond. He is survived by five sons, two daughters, fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Wilfred leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends. He was a devoted husband of over fifty years. His love for baseball was his passion and coaching his grandson Danny. There will be a Mass at St. Mark's (5552 Madigan Drive N.E.), Calgary at 11:00 a.m, on October 29. JONES, Margaret Virginia Catherine Our beloved mother "Vee" passed away peacefully at Fischer Place in 100 Mile House, Thursday, October 23, 2008. She has joined Dad who left us September 20, 2008. She is also predeceased by her sisters June Sherman and Shirley Kemp. She will be forever missed by her children Theresa (Barry), Evan (Anita) and Melissa, Blake (Darcy), Maureen and grandchildren Rebecca and Hannah. Vee is also survived by her sister, Iris Pillidge of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews. On September 13, 1924 Vee was born to Cora and William McFarlane in Calgary. She enjoyed her days with her family/sisters at Bragg Creek during the summers. John and Vee were married in 1955. They raised their family in North Vancouver. She had a passion for sports, speed skating, bowling and skiing. She was an accomplished cook and seamstress, but her greatest love was for her family. Vee will be lovingly remembered for her great sense of humor, indomitable spirit and steadfast approach to life. You will be missed Mom. LAWRENCE, Mrs. Alice W. November 9, 1913 - October 25, 2008 Born to Mr. and Mrs. M.A. Hildahl in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Alice moved to Calgary in 1939 where she met and married her husband, Jack Stewart Lawrence, in 1942. Widowed in 1957, Alice became a single parent to her girls and was their biggest role model: strong, independent, resourceful and compassionate. She showed the family that no matter how much was on your plate, there was always room for a little more and to remember the dessert. She loved long Sunday rides in the country, but also had a hobby of chasing fire trucks but never finding the fire. Those who loved her judged their lives against whether she could do it or had done it. She showed by example that women could be anything they wanted to be. She continued to live on her own until her ninety-forth year, reading the Herald, watching the evening news and continuing to beat all who tried her at Scrabble. Her Greatest Gift was the love that she shared with her family. Preceded by her loving and devoted daughter Marilyn Jean Harris (Jim) in June of this year, Alice is survived by her daughter Jade Lawrence, grandsons James Sharp (Helen,) Joshua F. Lawrence (Catherine), Winston Lawrence, and great-granddaughter Quanah Lawrence. Also held in her heart, Vicky Driver (Ken), Susan Porter (Milt and children) and sister Donna Schnell. So, take your shiny wings and fly away, be in peace and know that you will always be loved. There will be no Funeral at Alice's request, but a family Memorial will be held next summer. BOIVIN / BELDING, Rosanne - With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Rosanne Laura Marie Boivin, after a brief illness, peacefully, August 5, 2008 in Vancouver B.C. A free spirit, Rosanne, born October 18, 1969, moved to the Vancouver area to pursue dreams and goals. Predeceased by her parents, Vivian Boivin Turcotte and Benoit Boivin. She is survived by her brothers Ray (wife Linda) Boivin of Kenora, Roy (wife Pamella) Boivin of Windsor, Ricky Boivin of North Bay , Randy Boivin of North Bay and step-sister Joann McAughy of Burks Falls. She has many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will sadly miss her and fondly remember her. She was the cherished friend and partner of Ken Larson of Vancouver. Of her, he writes: this spitfire lived her to short life with a zest and vitality second to none and openheartedly helped anyone in need. Always a hard worker and an avid entrepreneur, she was working for the last ten years in construction safety. She will be remembered by co-workers, friends, loved ones and especially her chosen partner, Ken Larson, “forever and a day”. Everyone lucky enough to make her acquaintance was touched by her. BOOK, Robert John “Bob“ - At his home in Waterloo on Friday, October 24, 2008 in his 75th year. Bob Book was the husband of Sylvia (nee Brooks) of Port Loring and loving father of Brian (Julie), Barry (Lisa), all of Waterloo and Todd (Bev) of Port Loring. He was the beloved grandfather of Kelsea, Jessie, Samantha, Jacy and Jade. Bob is survived by his sisters Patricia Odorizzi (Lloyd) of Port Loring and Diane Sills (late Ivan) of Sudbury and many nieces and nephews. Bob was a long time firefighter for the City of Waterloo and was a member of Waterloo Rod and Gun. Born and raised in Port Loring, Bob loved the north and always considered the Argyle area “home“. TUNNEY, Birgit Gabrielle. Peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital on Thursday October 23, 2008 at 60 years of age. Birgit will be forever missed by her husband Pat, and her children Patrick (Evelyn) and Colleen MacDonald (Bob). Beloved “Old Ma“ to her first grandchild Jamieson and sadly missed by her Grandpug Paisley. Also missed by Evelyn's children Colin, Brandon and Lucy Schenk. Daughter of Maria Schmachtel of Kitchener. Dear sister of Iris Martinek (Otto), Ute Guilhauman and Heiko Schmachtel. Predeceased by siblings Gilda Werner, Sylvia Berg, Dirk Schmachtel, and Ingo Schmachtel. Birgit will also missed by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Birgit was a life long lover of animals, particularly dogs and horses and also enjoyed raising farm animals. She was an avid gardener and a fabulous cook, and enjoyed using her fresh produce to make delicious home-cooked meals for those she loved. Her generosity meant that there was always plenty for anyone who stopped by. Strong minded and direct, it was unusual for her to back down from a battle of wits. She had a kind heart although she always put up a tough façade, even in recent months despite her illness. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Birgit's life on Saturday November 1st from 10am-1pm at St. Mary's Separate School Auditorium in Grafton. CHRISTIE, Erl Peter. C.L.U., C.F.P. - Erl passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, in his 78th year. Beloved husband and best friend for 51 years of Helen (nee Huggins). He will be deeply missed by his children Lori (Paul Noble), David (Susan de la Plante) and Suanne Hawkins (Ben McVeety). Proud papa to Kyla, Britney, Matthew, Sydney and Jack. Survived by his brothers Richard (Barb) Christie of Whitby and Roy (Pat) Christie of Mississauga, brother in law Bill (Ulva) Huggins of Niagara Falls and many nieces and nephews. A long time resident of Niagara Falls, Erl was a big kid at heart. His family was the most important thing in his life. Erl cherished the time with his wife Helen on their many international travels. He enjoyed many hours of fishing and golfing with his children. Around home he tended to his large and meticulous garden. Erl retired from Prudential Insurance Company in 1991 after 40 years of service. He continued to stay active his entire life. He was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. As well, Erl was an avid square and round dancer. He enjoyed his long time involvement with the Canadian Blood Service, Out of the Cold and the Niagara Senior Men's Bowling Association. He was a past member of the local Lions and Kinsmen Clubs. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at the MORSE & SON CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 5917 Main Street on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place at St. John's Anglican Church on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 11 o'clock. COMNENE, Angela (nee Sava Goiu) Passed away peacefully on Thursday October 23, 2008 at the Montfort Nursing Home in Ottawa. Born in Romania, Angela was a Professor of Art History and wrote numerous books ranging from Family Coats of Arms to Byzantine Art. Among her many memberships, she was on the Executive Committee of the Ottawa Branch of the Heraldry Society of Canada, member of the Ottawa Branch of Monarchist League of Canada and Vice-President of the Society of Canadian Writers, and Emeritus Member of the American Romanian Academy (ARA), where she received the "Ionel Jianu" Award of Arts in 2000. Beloved wife of the late Raymond Alexis Comnene, she is survived by her daughter Manuela Comnene Selles, granddaughter Melina Selles Storch and husband Peter Storch, and great-granddaughters Anya and Zara Storch. She also leaves many friends around the world.
