CAMERON, Donald Alexander - A resident of Chatham, Donald A. Cameron passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Chatham Campus on Saturday October 25, 2008 at the age of 84. Born in Ashdale, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia, son of the late Alexander and Elsie (Croft) Cameron. Beloved husband of Lillian F. (Thomas) Cameron. Dear father of Stephen G. Cameron of Chatham and the late Shelley Griffin (1994). Grandfather of Sarah Suitor, Matthew Suitor, Courtney Cameron and Candice Pletsch all of Chatham. Great Grandfather of Shelbi. Brother of Janet Dagley of Milton, Nova Scotia, Grace MacKay of Lochaber, N.S., Ian & Evelyn Cameron of New Glasgow, N.S. and the late Katherine Fisher, Margaret MacDonald, Bessie Sutherland, William Green, Allister, Thomas, Douglas, and John James Cameron. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Harriet Cameron of Lochaber, N.S. and Nettie Cameron of Antigonish, N.S. Donald retired from International Harvester in 1985 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed the hobby and challenge of repairing, fixing and constructing. ROBERTS, Alice Sylvia April 29, 1926 - October 25, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Alice Sylvia Roberts (nee Bittner) on Saturday, October 25, 2008, in Calgary, at the age of 82. Alice was born on April 29, 1926 on the Bittner family farm south of Yorkton, Sask., attending school and training as a Legal Secretary. It was in Yorkton where she met her future husband John, who she married in 1950, and together they began their family. After brief periods in Saskatoon and Regina, John and Alice returned to Saskatoon in 1961 where she worked at home typing a number of papers and manuscripts for both university students and professors. Alice was an excellent typist who took pride in doing things right and she received many accolades from her clients. She also returned to working outside the home with the Alvin Buchwald Centre for a few years in the early 1970's. In early 1974, the family moved to Calgary, where shortly thereafter Alice joined the Calgary Board of Education where she worked until her retirement in 1991. She had many fond memories of the teachers, students and parents from Andrew Sibbald School in Lake Bonavista. Alice truly enjoyed visiting with her many friends and relatives, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. In retirement, she made a number of vacation trips to Palm Springs visiting with family and friends. She was an avid knitter and loved making things for others; donating knitted sweaters to the Red Cross right up until her passing. The family would like to thank her close friends Jacquie and Bill Cumming and Jan Street for always helping us look out for her. Our family will miss her smile, her laugh, her love and her guidance deeply. Alice is survived by her children, Don (Monica) of Chestermere, Rae (Rick McIntyre) of Ottawa and Ken (Theresa) of Calgary; grandchildren, Marcie (Clay Kagi), Stacey (Michael Sartore), Michael (Mandie) Roberts, Jennifer and Andrew McIntyre and Victoria Roberts; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Brody Kagi and Gabrielle and Matteo Sartore. She is also survived by her sisters, Evelyn Markham of Yorkton and Lorraine (Bill) Speers of Toronto along with her brother-in-law Ed (Irene) Roberts of Saskatoon and numerous nieces and nephews and their families from coast to coast in Canada. She was predeceased by her loving husband John on May 19, 1982. STEWART, Donna Learie (nee Copp) May 2, 1931 - October 19, 2008 It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Donna Stewart at 77 years young. Donna died peacefully at the Chinook Hospice in Calgary, Alberta on October 19, 2008 after a short three month fight with Esophageal Cancer. With deep regret, Donna leaves behind a loving daughter, Ann Stewart of Calgary, Alberta with whom she lived with for the last thirteen years after the passing of her husband of forty-one years, Arthur (Terry) Stewart on August 23, 1995 in Salmon Arm, BC; and a loving son Chuck (Pam) Stewart, a long-time resident of Hinton, AB. She will also be deeply missed by her much-loved grandchildren Darian (twenty-one) and Janelle (twenty-three) Stewart of Red Deer, AB and her great-granddaughter, Madisynne (daughter of Darian) who she will never get to know. She will also be fondly remembered by her remaining sister Betty (John) Swann of Toronto, ON, her nephews, Chris of Aurora, ON and Jeff (Lori) and their son Austin of Barrie, ON. Donna will be remembered lovingly by all for her strength of will, her "shoot from the hip" straight talk and her "quirky" sense of humor which she loved to unleash on unsuspecting strangers and friends alike. As a family we were proud to be with her on October 9, 2008 when she celebrated thirty-six years as a Friend of Bill W., and because of that friendship, we know she will never be gone as long as someone is guided on their journey by her voice and words. The family extends our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Krause and Dr. Chan of the Tom Baker Cancer Center and to Dr. Chris Hergott plus all of the caring people at the Chinook Hospice and Unit 47 at the Foothills Hospital. COULSON, Gregg Martin - In Loving memory of Gregg Martin Coulson, 93 years, who passed away Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 at the SRH-Laurentian Site with his loving family at his side. Gregg was born on February 21st, 1915 in Medford, Mass, USA. He was a well known and respected longtime Capreol resident. In his younger days he was an accomplished hockey player having been rookie of the year with the Barrie Colts and played on their championship team. He was inducted into Allandale Hockey Hall of Fame. He played his junior hockey with the Collingwood shipbuilders, Barrie Flyers and Barrie Colts. He played his pro hockey with the Pittsburgh Yellow Jackets, Baltimore Orioles, Syracuse Stars, Buffalo Bisons and Hershey Bears. An industrious and hardworking man he worked for the CNR. After hockey he was hired in 1941 as a fireman. In 1946 he received his engineer's license retiring in 1976 with 35 years service. Gregg will be remembered as an honest and loving man. Everyone who met him loved him. He was a devoted husband father, grandfather and great grandfather whose priority was his precious family. He now joins his daughter Sandra in heaven to be guardian angels for all the people they loved on earth. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten. FRAYN, Audrey Ellen (nee Doe) Retired legal secretary and receptionist. Died peacefully at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the age of 81. Audrey was born in Ottawa, grew up in the Glebe, and resided for many years on Aberfeldy Street in Lynwood Village. She was predeceased, in 1991, by her devoted husband Henry Claire Frayn, and in 2004 by her only child, a beloved daughter, Debra Ann (Bob) Hillier. Always quick with a joke, a smile and a kind word, Audrey will be missed deeply by her many close friends, neighbours, and bridge companions. Many thanks to the staff of the Queensway-Carleton Hospital for their compassionate care. At Audrey's request, there will be no visitation and no funeral service. OBITUARY JAMES ALEXANDER RILLIE Ninety-one, died October 23, 2008 at Parkland at the Lakes, Glasgow Hall Nursing Home in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, with his wife Dorothy at his side. Jim was born in Montreal January 14, 1917. He served with the XVII Duke of York's Royal Canadian Hussars in World War II, and was awarded the Military Cross, and other medals. After the war he worked for CIL in Montreal, then for Jergen's in Perth Ontario. In the fifties and sixties, he worked for Canadair in Montreal, and from the early seventies into the eighties, worked as an economic advisor for the Government of New Brunswick until his retirement. Jim was an avid skier, golfer, curler and sports salmon fisherman. He was predeceased by his sister May (Winn). He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Kydd) son James Alexander (Maisie Kelland) daughter Elaine Amy (Stephen Crites) and grandchildren Claire and James Andrew. Cremation has occurred and by request there will be no remembrance ceremony. Donations may be made to Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, Fredericton Branch #4. INGLIS, Hilary Mary (nee: Pease) January 12, 1948 - October 24, 2008 It is with deep sadness that we announce Hilary's passing on Friday, October 24, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Hilary died peacefully with her children Kirsten and Lorin by her side. Born January 12, 1948 in Walton Hall, Yorkshire, Hilary came to Canada in 1969 with her parents and brother and began a teaching career in Fort McMurray. Teaching was a passion for Hilary, and as an adult educator at Bow Valley College and most recently as an ESL teacher at the Calgary Immigrant Educational Society, Hilary's enthusiasm and energy truly touched all those who knew her. Hilary had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel; as well as England and Canada, she lived in Greece, Norway (where her son Lorin was born), Holland, and South Korea. Hilary is survived by her mother, Gwen and brother Gary and was predeceased by her father Neville. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Monday, November 3, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. To honor Hilary's vibrant and colorful personality, those attending the Memorial are invited to wear something colorful.
