Beloved wife of Ezio Giovannitti of 57 years and loving mother of Carlo (Anne). McCOLGAN, Edward (Ed) It is with overwhelming sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband and father. At 65 years of age, he passed with his wife and daughters by his side, following a heroic battle, from October 2, 2007 to September 10, 2008, in the ICU at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto. Cherished husband and best friend of Pauline (Pilon) for over 40 years, and devoted and loving father of Paula and Kimberly McColgan. Much loved son of Reta and the late Edward McColgan. Brother of Chris, Mark (deceased), Don, Chuck and Geoff, and uncle of many dear nieces and nephews. Born and lived in Quyon, Quebec and Ottawa, Ontario all his life. Long-time employee of Energy, Mines & Resources, Canada (Bells Corners). Ed will be dearly missed by his family and friends, and remembered for his kindness, generosity, sense of humour, and love of the outdoors. Special thanks to the staff at Sunnybrook, in particular the intensive care physicians to whom we are eternally grateful. NORMAN, Robert Mr. Robert Norman, age 95, of Hillside Manor, RR 5 Stratford passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday October 21, 2008. Born in Montreal, son of the late William Norman and the former Elizabeth Jackson. Robert served in the Canadian Army from 1940-1965 as an Engineer Accountant Staff Sergeant. He received a Canadian Forces Decoration during his service time. He lived at Camp Bouchard, St. Therese for many years moving to Stratford in August 1983. Beloved husband of Cecelia (Hall) Norman whom he married on July 26, 1937 in Montreal. Loving father of Elizabeth Yohansen of Montreal. Besides his parents he was predeceased by son-in-law George Yohansen, sister Catherine Turcotte, brothers Claude Norman and Eric Norman. A funeral service will be held at Hillside Manor, RR 5 Stratford on Saturday October 25th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Avondale Cemetery. There Are Angels Among Us MARTHA MacCOUBREY-MARTIN Born on the 28 of June 1918 in Savannah, Georgia, the daughter of Marie Martin Daigneault and Alexander Martin. Losing her mother at a young age, she helped her father raise four of his children, John, Diane, Mary and herself. Martha met Don MacCoubrey while working at Air Canada and spent the next phase of her life raising their sons Dick, Bruce, Ian and Alec. They gave Martha the daughters she never had with Joan, Pam and Cynthia. Also her beloved grandchildren Mark, Tina, Kerry, Andrew, Sarah, Erin and great-grandchildren Laura, Patrick, Bradley and Dylan, all of whom will miss her. She also found time to travel with Don and made many friends around the world. After many years passed, Martha again gave of herself as she looked after her father Alec, her mother-in- law Inez MacCoubrey and her beloved aunt Milie Lalumaire-Daigneault, who had supported her as she grew up. Martha loved her home and gardens which she spent all her time maintaining. She loved to paint and her works are displayed proudly in many homes across the land. After her beloved husband Don MacCoubrey passed away Martha took on the responsibility of supporting her son for over 25 years. Martha passed away quietly on October 23, 2008 at the Lakeshore General Hospital. Having given so much of herself to help so many others, we can only conclude Martha MacCoubrey-Martin was an angel sent to us from God. The family would like to recognize the many relatives who cared for her, thank the neighbors who always supported her, and Georgette, Lily, the Pierrefonds CLSC and the many people at the Lakeshore Hospital that helped her in her last years. AITKEN, Allan Stuart ("Stu") Stu Aitken passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, October 17, 2008 at the age of 92 years. Stu was born in Calgary on February 25, 1916, the son of Elizabeth and Allan Aitken. He attended King George Elementary School and Crescent Heights High School. Upon graduation Stu accepted an assignment with the Canadian Imperial Bank in Golden, BC, which was the beginning of a forty-eight year career in accounting and financial management. Stu returned to Calgary after two years in Golden and spent the rest of his life in Calgary. Stu was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church for over fifty years, serving on the Board, on the Session and as an Elder. Over the years Stu also served as Treasurer, sang in the choir and assisted in keeping track of donations and issuing tax receipts. Stu was a free mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and past Grandmaster of Calgary Lodge 23. Stu is survived by two sons, Brian (Sally) and Brent (Merrill), their mother Fern Inglis, two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His good friend Sheila Reed also survives Stu. Stu was predeceased by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held for Stu at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008 at Grace Presbyterian Church (1009 - 15 Avenue S.W.). A reception at the Glencoe Club (636 - 29 Avenue S.W.) will follow the Service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so are asked to make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association of Alberta. ANDREWS, Warren It is with great sadness that the family of Warren Andrews announces his passing on Friday, October 24, 2008 at the age of 69, following a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Eilene; children Jackie (Geoff) Byford, Doug (Tiffany), and Rod; grandchildren Jordan, Brenna, Alyson, Nicole, Andrea and Brooklyn; brother Don (Frankie-Jean) and many other family and friends. Warren was predeceased by his parents Doris and Jack. Warren was born in Regina and grew up in Kimberley. For the past ten years, he worked as the Public Operations Manager for the City of Lethbridge. He always enjoyed his work, but valued the people in his work family even more. One of Warren's proudest accomplishments was his work to create a supportive workplace where all employees are valued. Warren will be remembered for his active community involvement, most recently as President of the Henderson Lake Golf Course. Golf was his passion, followed by skiing, DQ Blizzards, huckleberries, great cars, and his Flames. Above all, Warren was a dedicated family man. He cherished the times spent with his grandchildren whom he loved dearly, and always greeted with smiles and hugs. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Beloved husband of fifty-nine years to Jane, adored father of Daintry Lynn (Mike Howard), and Nancy (Ted Wilkins); and cherished Papa of Ryan and Daniel, Kate, Leslie, Scott, and Michael. Born in Montreal, he was an RCAF veteran of WWII. He graduated from McGill University in 1949, and joined Bell Canada where he worked for over thirty years. Alex's wonderful sense of humour, sharp mind, and love of life never left him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. LAFLAMME, Wallie August 20, 1923 - October 24, 2008 Wallie Laflamme of Calgary, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side Friday, October 24, 2008 at the age of 85. Wallie was a pioneering business woman, opening the first of several beauty salons while only in her early twenties. Her love of the arts then lead her to establish Laflamme Galleries, where she introduced many new Canadian artists. After a brief retirement, her entrepreneurial spirit continued into its seventh decade, as she enthusiastically launched her Usana nutritional business. She excelled, becoming a Gold director, with a down line of over 1,500 people and was a much in demand guest speaker at company rallies until the time she entered Foothills Hospital. Wallie was an amazing career woman who lived her life with great persistence and perseverance which were trademarks of her "never let age be your cage" attitude. Family, friends and a lifetime of loyal clients will miss her dearly. Wallie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roux and Kippy Laflame of Palm Springs, CA. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Foch Laflamme in 2006. LEGAULT, Cléora (née Trépanier) 1919-2008 À St-Anicet, le 21 octobre 2008, à l'âge de 89 ans, entourée de ses proches, est décédée Cléora Trépanier, épouse de feu Norman Legault. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants Clayton (Vicky Dubois), Carl (Annie Lizotte) et Louise (Denis Taillefer) ainsi que ses neuf petits-enfants, ses quinze arrière-petits-enfants et ses quatre arrière-arrière-petits-enfants. Elle laisse également ses soeurs Oline Latulipe et Doris Bergeron, ses belles-soeurs et ses beaux-frères en plus de plusieurs neveux et nièces. Elle est prédécédée par sa soeur Edna Deschamps. LIGHTFOOT, Audrey - Mrs. Audrey Joan Lightfoot, age 80, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday October 15, 2008. Born in Stratford, daughter of the late John Scott and the former Catherine Cockburn. Audrey married John Lightfoot on December 7, 1946, following that they lived in Owen Sound, St. Marys, Sudbury and London, returning to Stratford in 1979. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 8, Stratford. Beloved wife of the late John Edmund Lightfoot who predeceased her on August 11, 2007. Loving mother of John Lightfoot, Sudbury, Stephen Lightfoot (Brenda) , Levack. Grandmother of Leah Ann (Jason) , David and Stephen and great grandmother of Preston and Ryleah. Also survived by sister- in-law Hilda Hyde, Stratford, brother-in-law Alan Lightfoot, Vancouver, best friend Ethel Murray and several nieces and nephews. BURCH, EINAR 2008-10-25 Dec. 18/1929 - Oct. 16/2008 Einar passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Thursday, October 16/08 at the age of 78 in his retirement home, “Deer Lodge” Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Svava Burch. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years Albina and five children, Diana (Lynden) Thunder Bay, Arlene (Bruce) Newport Oregon, Ron (Cindy) Calgary, Robert (Deborah) Thunder Bay and Lorraine (Jerry) Olson Woodside California. His brother Les (Noella) Winnipeg. His 9 grandchildren Chris (Ashley) and Allison Barnes, Ian and Danielle Clayman, Jason and Zoey Burch, Jon and Lauren Burch, Brett Olson, along with one great grandchild, Kaylee Burch, numerous nieces and nephews and also many dear friends and relatives. He lived a full and happy life working 43 years with C.P. Rail from 1947, until he made his final retirement run with Via Rail in February 1990. This happy go lucky man took the time and effort to train many other engineers and will be missed very much by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was always known to be uplifting, supportive and willing to be there for anybody when he was needed. Besides being a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, he was a member of the A.N.A.F. Branch #257, B.P.O. Elks Lodge #82 as well as an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #1 Wpg. He was happy curling, golfing and travelling the world with his beloved wife “Bina”. Being responsible and thoughtful of others, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will take place at a later date. “Life‘s Railway to Heaven” Life is like a mountain railroad with an engineer so brave, I must make this run successful from the cradle to the grave. Watch the curves, the fills, the tunnels, never falter, never fail, Keep my hand upon the throttle and my eye upon the rail. DOBSON, Clinton 2008-10-25, age 91 passed away peacefully in his sleep October 22 with his wife of 60 years beside him. Clint was born in Campbellton New Brunswick, October 6, 1917. He moved with his family to New Carlisle Quebec in 1920. In 1941 he volunteered for service as a Private for the Northshore Regiment and served with distinction overseas until the war ended in 1946. His search for a wife ended when he found his soul mate named May Ella Gallan and the two were married in New Carlisle December 21, 1948. They moved to Timmins and then to Tamagami shortly after to raise their 6 daughters. In 1969 Clint took his family and moved to Fort William. Dad worked as a saw filer all his life or as he was known as the “Saw Doctor” and worked at it until his retirement at Great West Timber. Dad‘s greatest accomplishments were that of living a life centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ, having a loving and caring wife and a wonderful and loving family. If he wasn‘t with his family at home, he was with them on the boat. Clint leaves for now his wife of 60 years, May, 7 daughters, Carol (Jerry), Iona, Eva, Sandra, Donnalee (Dennis), Jean (Blair) and Gwenda. He especially loved and cared for his wonderful 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grand children who he was very proud of all of them. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Clint was predeceased by his daughter Alta (at birth), parents Gertrude and Wes Dobson his brothers, Burns and Manford. Dad was the oldest living Dobson on his side of the family and he never forgot to tell you so! Special thanks to the staff who assisted “Pa” at Versa Care, and the Nursing staff at the TBRHSC, Dr. Skehan and his staff, and Dr. Scali. We appreciate all you did to help him throughout the years. We know he appreciated your help especially when he joked and kidded with you and gave you a hard time! After 90 years there was so much he accomplished, so much worth he gave to this world and to all who knew him. He is not gone for his family, friends, and all acquaintances; everyday we will lovingly remember him till we meet again. We are taught: When we pass on from this life, we enter into the spirit world, and all our memories of this life and the knowledge we have gained on Earth will remain with us. Oh, the love that Dad has to look back on! We look forward to seeing you again Dad. We‘ll miss you till then! PORTER, Kathleen - At Helen Henderson Care Centre with her family by her side. Kathleen Atkins Porter, wife of the late Richmond Porter and loving mother of Lorraine Barber of Amherstview. Dear grandmother to Shawn Barber (Jenn), Christian Barber (Denise) and Lindsay Hodgson (Steven); and great grandmother of Ethan and Gabrielle Barber and Cole and Drew Hodgson. Kathleen is remembered by her sister Mrs. Vicki Levine of Princeton, New Jersey and by her sister-in-law Milly Brunet of Kingston and also by several nieces and nephews. Due to Kay's wishes there will be no visitation but a celebration of Kay's life will be held at 105 Davey Crescent, Amherstview on November 9th at 2 pm.
