RAY, Lincoln Charles - Passed away peacefully at the age of 79 at the Sault Area Hospital on October 22, 2008 with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife Colleen, daughters Valerie Johnson, Sharon Proos, Kathy Kerr (Kenneth), Linda Wallace (late Doug) and only son Mike. Proud Grandpa of the late Doug Reid, Kelly- Ann Reid, Jason Proos (Janelle), Natasha Wichowski (Bart), Tiffany and Brian Wallace and Danika Anderson-Ray. Survived by his dear sisters Pat Ogen (Alex), Miriam Givens (Don) and predeceased by his friend and only brother Bailey Ray. Lincoln leaves behind 2 great granddaughters Payton and Paige Proos, many nieces and nephews and several dear friends and buddies. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Drs. STEVENS, Leita - Mom passed away at Grandview Lodge, Dunnville, on Tuesday October 21, 2008 in her ninety-eighth year. Predeceased by her husband Cecil. Leita is survived by daughter Peggy (Ernie) Green and son George (Sharon) Stevens. WATSON, Eugene (Gene) - At the Welland County General Hospital on October 23, 2008 in his 77th year. Loving husband of Gertrude “Trudy” (nee Daboll). Caring father of John (Patricia) Watson, Jeff (Nicole) Watson, Timothy Watson, and Kevin (Tracey) Watson. Wonderful grandfather to Eric Nolet, Cole, Alexandria, Christopher, Holly, and Olivia Watson. Brother-in-law to Bill Daboll and uncle to Deni Clow all of Welland. Predeceased by his 13 brothers and sisters. Mr. Watson was born on April 13, 1932 in Moncton, New Brunswick, he later moved to Toronto and then settled in Welland. He worked at the Welland County General Hospital for 20 years and then worked along his wife Trudy with the Niagara Region senior citizens for 40 years. Mr. Watson was a long time member of Four Square Gospel Church and later Faith Tabernacle Church. “Dad we are all going to miss you. You were a dedicated and loving husband and you were always there for your sons and daughters-in law as a wonderful father. You enjoyed seeing your grandchildren and spending time with them. You were a devoted Christian and enjoyed hockey and loved country music.” The family will receive friends at the H.L. Daughter of the late Rose and Joseph Huck, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, October 19, 2008, in her eighty-ninth year, after a long illness with Parkinson's. Devoted wife of the late Robert E. Goudreau and cherished mother of Barbara Carr (Daniel), Susan Black (William) and Deborah Goudreau. Grandchildren Alex, Matthew, Charlie, Sandra, Christopher, Rachel, Caroline, Emily, Djata, Aisha and Peter (and 12 great-children) will greatly miss her kind and loving presence. In her younger years, she was a radio and stage protege in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, and throughout her life, she actively volunteer-ed for various charities. NOAKES, Kathleen (Kay) F. Pullen (nee Losey). December 3, 1928 to October 16, 2008. It is with heavy hearts we announce that after a three-year battle with cancer, Kathleen, wife of the late Frank M. Noakes and the late Gerald R. Pullen quietly passed away at Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg. Daughter of the late Howard and Katherine Losey (nee Williams) and sister of the late Mabel Cunningham of Montreal and Elizabeth Helpard of Nova Scotia, she leaves behind to mourn her daughter Susan Moore (David) of Winnipeg, son Kevin Noakes (Mildred) of Calgary and daughter Cathleen Hornberger (David) of Virginia. Also mourning her loss are her grandchildren, Cpl. Michael Morrison (Manivone) and Barbara Morrison of Winnipeg. Zandran, Zorondras, Zendrek, Zyrlynn, Zihbien of Calgary and Shawn and Brandon of Virginia. Mom was also the proud great-grandmother of Christine, Travis, Steve and Melissa also of Winnipeg. Mom will also be missed by her many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Mom was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Montreal, NDG Branch 24/106 for many years where she loved being with her friends and participating in the suppers and dances. She will be remembered for her strength, determination, generosity and love of family. A memorial service to celebrate Mom's life will be held 7 p.m., Sat. Désormeaux, Claire Passed away on Friday, October 10th, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 72. Predeceased by her husband Réginald Désormeaux. George Westley Bott of Savard Township died October 17, 2008 at the Laurentian Hospital in Sudbury. He had been ill for a month. He was born in Sturgeon Falls on March 10, 1945 to George and Ena Bott. Educated at Savard Public and Englehart High Schools, he married Laurel Bailey in Charlton on June 4, 1977. Mr. Bott farmed all his life, from the age of 16, on the family farm in Savard Township. He was a charter member of the Charlton Englehart Lions Club, was a former volunteer fireman and Chief of the Savard and Area Firefighters, and was chairman of the Savard Local Roads Board for 30 years until the time of his death. He also served on the Charlton Cemetery Board for many years. Mr. Bott was a member of St. Faith’s Anglican Church in Charlton. He is survived by his wife Laurel; children Angela (Chris) , Paul, and Owen (Manuela) ; brothers Jim (Jean) and Dave (Aline) ; sister Judy Johnson (Garry) ; nephews Alan, Jeffery, Christopher, Andrew and Alex and niece Kelly. Mr. Bott was predeceased by his parents George and Ena Bott. The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart with the service conducted by Reverend Linda White at Christ Anglican Church in Englehart on October 20. Pallbearers were Janice Daley, Leonard Nuhn, Harvey Parker, Rick Rodgers, George Edwards and Jeff Maltby. Honourary pallbearers were Jack Jones, Fred Jones, Bill Devries, Christopher Bott and Billy Nuhn. Burial is at the Charlton Cemetery. Relatives and friends attending the service from out of town came from Ottawa, Thunder Bay, Sturgeon Falls, Kirkland Lake, Thornloe and Chapleau. In memory contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

BLACK, Joan Marie Eveangeline (Joni) Joni Black of Chestermere, Alberta passed away on October 22, 2008 from breast cancer at the age of 53 years. Joni is survived by her loving husband and kindred spirit, Daniel Jenkins. They were very lucky to have shared a great life of love, adventure, and travel. Their trips took them to Australia, Europe, Asia, USA, and most parts of Canada. To pick a place that she loved best, she said she loved them all. Joni is also survived by her two wonderful sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice (Wayne) Weger, Chestermere, Alberta, Carole (Bill) Neill of Nanaimo, BC, her two sisters-in-law Anna Black of Calgary, Alberta and Judy Manahan of Palm Cove, Australia. Joni greatly loved her nieces and nephews, James (Lesa) Black, Sarah (Douglas and Eva Joan) Woroniuk, Gerad Weger all of Calgary, Holly (Cliff) Neill and Heather Neill of Nanaimo, BC, David Neill of Kuwait. Joni is also survived by her extended family Rose (Betty and Fay) Jenkins of Abbotsford, BC, and cousins in Alberta, BC, and Cape Breton and by her good friend and ex-husband Joe Boyle of Edmonton. Joni was predeceased by her Dad and Mom, Jim and Margaret Black, her two brothers Brian and Stan and her father-in-law, Norm Jenkins. We would like to thank Dr. Alexander Paterson of the TBCC for his excellent medical care. Joni would especially like to thank Janice for all her baked goodies and Carole for all her phone calls. Joni loved animals (especially Thor and Clem, her dog and cat), gardening, traveling, golfing, curling, shooting pool, and being in the company of good friends. In her younger years she was an avid skier and loved horseback riding. Joni was blessed with a great family and great friends, with whom, over the years, she shared great fun, amazing trips, a few tears, and sometimes a wee bit of trouble. Joni had an enriching career and great colleagues who extended much kindness and support during her cancer journey. Her employers were Nova Corp, SAP, Agrium, and Fortis, where she experienced wonderful opportunities enabling her to work in many parts of the world. KACZMAR, Marain Peacefully, with his family by his side, 59, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008. Marain was born Nov. 13, 1948 in Watenstedt, Germany. He moved to Canada with his parents when he was a baby. Marain lived in several places in Canada before his arrival in Fort Frances at the age of 10, and has lived here ever since. He graduated from Fort Frances High School and shortly after that, at the age of 17, started working in the local paper mill for 40-plus years until his retirement in 2006. He married the love of his life, Linda Gosselin, on Oct. 17, 1970. Marain was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of the parish council. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. After his retirement and shortly before he had become sick, he had taken an interest in curling and ice-fishing. He always looked forward to playing card games with his family and friends. Marain always put others before himself; he was a man of few words, so when he did say something, people would listen. He and Linda served with the World Wide Marriage Encounter ministry teams for seven years until travelling started to interfere with family time. Marain’s wife and family were the most important thing to him. His grandchildren were the apples of his eye. Whenever they were around, Marain would light up like a Christmas tree. He always will be remembered for his green thumb and his love of gardening. He will be especially remembered by many for sharing his garden harvest, especially the garlic seeds that he gave to many friends and family to help them get started with their own garlic crop. His garlic seeds have been spread and planted all over Rainy River District and as far as eastern Ontario. Marain always looked forward to a fishing trip with the family and very much enjoyed his time spent out on Rainy Lake. He also enjoyed relaxing by the fire while camping, and when he and Linda weren’t camping, he would make an evening fire, in the pit, in the back yard and they would sit and enjoy. He was predeceased by one infant daughter, Tammy; his parents, George and Tina Kaczmar; his in-laws, Sinai and Valentine Gosselin; brother-in-law, Robert Jones; two nephews, Craig Jones and Ken MacKenzie; and niece, Janet Gosselin. He will be forever in the hearts and sorrowfully missed by his wife, Linda, and their three children, Michelle Kaczmar and significant other, Norm Pike, of Thunder Bay, Ont., Marin Kaczmar and his wife, Julie, and their children, Mikayla and Keegan, of Baudette, Mn., and Kristina Parkkari and husband, Miika, and their children, Anna and Hailey, of Thunder Bay, Ont. HARNUM, Esther (nee Schellenberg) - Gently and peacefully passed away from the arms of her family to the loving arms of Jesus, at home on October 21, 2008, in her 75th year. Passionately loved for 55 years by her husband Harold and cherished by her children, Steve (Elizabeth), Cheryl (Herm), Pam (Zeke) and adored by grandchildren; Ian, Geoff, Ryan, Heidi, Andrew, Heather, Rachel and Laura and by 8 great grandchildren. Esther the youngest of 12 brothers and sisters is predeceased by 9 siblings and survived by Tina (Gordon) Bickel and Hank (Barb) Schellenberg and sister in law Beth Schellenberg. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was born in Carnduf, Saskatchewan on May 30, 1934 to Jake and Maria Schellenberg. A tiny baby of only 3 pounds, she slept in a shoe box on the warm oven door for the first three weeks of life. At just 3 years of age, her mother died and at 13, Esther left home to come to Ontario to live with her older sisters. She met Harold at age 14 and married him at 18, on March 14, 1953. They shared a love that few ever know and have spent the past 55 years making a happy haven for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Esther's life was a beautiful reflection of Jesus, mirrored by the way she loved and cared for family and friends, always with compassion and tenderness. Her kitchen was filled with the aroma of fresh buns, cookies and pies, in abundant supply and generously shared with all. The family wishes to express their most heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Hartman and nurses, Lizabeth, Vivian and Andrea from CCAC. Your support and care gave us all the strength we needed to make it through. The family received friends at the VINELAND CHAPEL of the TALLMAN FUNERAL HOMES, 3277 King St. on Thursday, 7-8:30 pm. for closed casket visitation.
