Fortunat St-Gelais demeurant à la Résidence Ste-Marie. La famille accueillera les parents et amis à la Résidence funéraire du Saguenay 3711 rue Cabot, Jonquière (secteur Kénogami) le vendredi 26 septembre 2008 de 19 h à 22 h, le samedi 27 septembre 2008 à compter de 9 h. Les funérailles auront lieu le samedi 27 septembre 2008 à 11 h 30 à l'église St-Matthieu. Madame Leclerc sera incinérée après les funérailles et les cendres seront déposées au columbarium St-Dominique. Elle était la fille de feu Mme Dolorosa Pilote et de feu M. Rosario Leclerc. CARROLL, Duaine Edward - It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of a very devoted father, son, brother and friend on September 20, 2008 at the age of 54. JAQUES, Ivy Gertrude - Formerly of Port Dover, peacefully on September 19, 2008 at Saint Joseph's Lifecare Centre, Brantford in her 97th year. Loving wife of the late Edward M. Jaques (1986). Sadly missed by her daughter Judy Plot and her husband Bernard of Saint-Nazaire, France, sister, Lillian Mortin and her husband George (Bud) of Midhurst, brother Donald (Don) Goodhew and his wife Jean of Brantford, and sister-in-law Edna Jaques of Brantford. Fondly remembered by her three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews of the Goodhew, Mortin and Woodger families and her many friends. Ivy was active in the United Church Women, the NGH Auxiliary and the Eastern Star during her many years in Port Dover, and remained in contact with several friends. REDFEARN, George Veteran of WWII - Passed away at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Saturday, September 20th, 2008. George Barrington Redfearn, of Durham, in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Dorothy. Loving father of Michael and his wife Michelle of Vancouver, Claudette and her husband Bert Liske of Mount Forest, Anne and her husband John Grobbo of Fordwich and Penny and her husband Pat Pietrantonio of Mississauga. Cherished grandfather of Teddy, Jennifer, Mark and Robert. George was a Veteran of WWII and belonged to RAF 61 Squadron. He served two tours of duty in the bomber command as a gunner and as a wireless operator and flew the Handley Page Hampden. He was presented with a Distingquished Flying Medal by King George VI. JAKUS, Laszlo (Leslie, Lester) - Passed away peacefully at Douglas A. Rapelje Lodge on Sunday, September 21, 2008 in his 80th year. Cherished husband and best friend for 56 years to Irene (nee Schwartzkopf). Loving father of Yolanda and Margaret Good (Rob). Dear grandfather of Stephanie. Son-in-law of Yolanda Schwartzkopf and brother-in-law of Rose Barnai (Zoli). Leslie will also be sadly missed by his cousins Steve Jakus (Penni), Mary Ann Kucherawy (Murray) and William Ujhegyi (Helen). He was predeceased by his parents Sandor and Ilona Jakus and father-in-law Andrew Schwartzkopf. Born in Hungary, Leslie came to Canada in 1950 and settled in Welland. He worked for Northside Dairy Ltd. and Atlas Steels prior to retiring. He was a member of the Hungarian Self Culture Society and Our Lady of Hungary Parish. PALCSO, Mr. David - Of Fonthill, surrounded by his loving family, passed peacefully into his heavenly home on Saturday September 20, 2008 in his 80th year. Loving and devoted husband to June (Lampman) for 58 wonderful years. Cherished father of Jocelyn (Kirk) and Mark (Lisa). His pride and joy were his grandchildren Carolyn (Lance), Derek (1996), Aaron, Garrett, Travis and Brittany, and great-grandchildren Tanner and Grace. Predeceased by his parents John and Barbara, brother John and sister Mary. David was employed by Atlas Steels for 42 years retiring in 1988 as manager of customer services. SWITZER, Cornelia (Corky) (Retired Carleton Board of Education) After a 17 month battle with brain cancer and with family and friends by her side in Saint-Vincent Hospital on September 20, 2008 at the age of 66. Corky was born in the Netherlands and lived in Paris, Brussels, and Prague before moving to Canada. She was an active member of The Dutch Canadian Association and an avid square and round dancer. OBITUARY MARY HARQUAIL FLAHERTY Passed away peacefully at the age of ninety-two on Thursday, September 18, 2008. Prior to moving to Vancouver in 2007, she was a longtime resident (after 1945) of Montreal and Fort Lauderdale. Mary was born into a prosperous family in Campbelton, NB on April 6, 1916. She is survived by two of her nine brothers and sisters, Sister Margaret Harquail, CND, of Sydney, NS, and Gerald Harquail (Ginette) of Toronto. Mary was a Registered Nurse, a devout Roman Catholic, a highly supportive mother, and a caring grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary married Edwin B. Flaherty, a chemist and entrepreneur, in September, 1938 and they had eight children, all of whom survive them: David of Victoria; Ted of Montreal; Ann Gilmartin (Frank) of Darien, CT; Gerry of Cornwall, Ont.; Patrick (Sylvie LePage) of Montreal; Jim (Christine Elliott) of Whitby, Ont.; and Norah (Robert Levy) and Mary (Bernard Fletcher) of Vancouver. At her passing, Mary had 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. An amazing legacy. A funeral is planned for St. Patrick's Basilica in Montreal at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, with visitation on Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Collins Clarke funeral home at 5610 Sherbrooke Street West in Montreal. HUBELE, Tillie Tillie Hubele passed away peacefully at the Newport Harbour Care Center on September 19, 2008 at the age of 93 years. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Neda (Jim), Nancy (Russell), step-daughters Merle and Audrey; grandchildren Tex (Alina), Heather (Bob), Ricky (Tanya), Kim (Ken), Neil; great-grandchildren Curtis, Krista, Brad, Garrett, Ethan, Jaida, Sarah and Tessa. Tillie was born in Leader, Saskatchewan, moved to Acadia Valley, Alberta and married Ben in 1935 and lived on the farm until retiring in 1965. They then moved to Varsity Acres in Calgary where they lived until Ben passed away. She continued to live there until she had her stroke and needed to move to the Fanning Centre and eventually to Newport Harbour Care Centre. SMITH, Roy E. Roy Smith, beloved husband and best friend of Millie Smith, passed away Friday morning, September 19, 2008. Roy was born in Moosimin, Saskatchewan and raised in Rocanville until enlisting in the R.C.A.F. After discharge he completed his education, worked for the Saskatchewan government, married Millie, and lived in Regina until moving to Edmonton in 1948. After several years in the electronic business, Roy and Millie moved to Calgary where he taught electronics at S.A.I.T. for thirty years. On retirement he wrote a history of S.A.I.T. entitled "The First 60 Years". Roy and Millie enjoyed traveling and made many trips overseas. They recently celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife Millie; sister Betty Padbury of Vernon, B.C.; brother-in-law Albert Gratland (Mac) of Barrhead, AB; sister-in-law Alice Gratland of Burnaby, B.C.; along with nine nieces and nephews in the U.S.A. and Canada. HEHIR, Eileen With great sadness, the family of Eileen Hehir (nee Harper) announces her sudden passing at Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Saturday, September 20, 2008 in her 88th year. Eileen, predeceased by her husband John and parents Norman and Roxy (nee Lennox), is survived by her sister Erma LaSalle, her niece Joyce Ziebell (Andrew Branion), and her great-nieces Lauren and Lindsey Ziebell. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her and the many who often stopped by for a chat and a coffee. Les moments entourés de sa grande famille lui donnaient le plus grand des plaisirs.
