DUFFY, SALLY A. M. - Passed away September 3, 2008 in Toronto, Ont. Born in 1940 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Jane Duffy. She had a Nursing career in Toronto, Ont. until her illness two years ago. She is survived by four children, Carl, Mark and Alex, all of Toronto, Cathleen of Saint John. 14 grand- children, five great-grandchildren, eight sisters and three brothers: Patricia Trecartin, John Duffy, Karen Anderson, Mary Shea, Charlie Duffy, Kim Duffy, Susan Bannister, Marilyn Bernatchez, Linda Chappell, Patrick Duffy and Michelle Saunders. One uncle, two aunts, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by grandson Kenneth and sister Margaret Rose at birth. Sally was taken home after a long battle with cancer and will greatly be missed by family and friends. Kathryn Constance Thompson 1916-2008 Kathryn, age 92, wife of the late Earl Thompson, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, August 29th, 2008. Kathryn was born and grew up Tabusintac, NB., second daughter of Duncan and Annie (Murray) McIntosh on a country dirt road, attended a one room school house and did homework beside a kerosene lamp, dreaming and determined to be a teacher and live under city lights. By 1935 she graduated from Normal School in Fredericton, teaching in Tabusintac, Emmerson, Smiths Corner and Bryant's Corner; and by 1944 living under the city lights of Moncton. Her two favourite inventions were the telephone and a shopping center, she never tired of either. She just loved life and lived it every day. She wanted her love expressed to everyone she knew that made her life so fulfilling, family, friends and the students she taught at Uplands, Victoria and Bessborough schools in Moncton. She said she has remembered every one of them throughout her life. She travelled, was a member with her husband Earl at Moncton Antique Car Club. At Peoples Park Tower she was a volunteer, loved bingo, bus trips and attending church. She has been a member of The Wesley Memorial United Church since 1944. She will be sadly missed by her 2 daughters, Edna Thompson (William Woodhouse) and Frances (Arnold) Hansen both of Bass River, NB, one son Willard "Bill" Thompson, Salisbury, NB, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, an only sister Mildred (Thomas) Brunton, New Westminster, BC, and youngest brother Herman (Sally) MacIntosh, Moncton. Her other three brothers Roy (Winnie), Walter (Frances) and Murray (Eleanor) predeceased her. A memorial service "celebration of her life" will be held at Fair Haven Funeral home on Thursday, September 4th 2008, at 2:00 pm, Rev. Dr. Phillip Griffin-Allwood officiating. McCULLOCH, Hester "Sandy" (nee Stromsmoe) 1923 - 2008 Sandy passed away on September 2, 2008 at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary after a brave battle against Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by sons Thomas and Matthew; brother Arnold (Clara) Stromsmoe (Lethbridge); sisters Marie Morrison (High River), Lois Thomson (Okotoks), Lavon (Bob) Slack (Calgary), Ramona Hanson (Calgary), and Olga (Jim) Kratchmer (Unity, Saskatchewan). Sandy is also survived by ex-daughters-in-law Jacqui Smith, Dianna Girodat and her daughter Amanda Girodat as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sandy was predeceased by her parents Edwin and Pearl; brothers Gerald, Mylo, and DeMoine; brothers-in-law Don Morrison, Tommy Thomson, and Herb Hanson as well as her ex-husband and good friend Jack McCulloch. Sandy was born in Lethbridge, raised in the Etzikom area, and completed her education in Medicine Hat. Her first job was working in the office of the Flight Training School in High River until the end of World War II. She then moved to Calgary and enjoyed a long career in the oil industry accounting field. Sandy retired from Pembina Pipelines in the early 1990's. Sandy's passion was her family. She also enjoyed dancing, country music, and traveling. Her favourite destination was Hawaii. Sandy loved people. When anyone met her, she always made him or her feel like a life-long friend. The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Vilma Michelak who has been Sandy's caregiver since 2001. A heartfelt thanks also goes out to the staff of Unit 73, Rockyview Hospital. JIMMO, NORMA ELAINE (LANDRY)(RIPLEY) - Amherst N.S.- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Elaine (Landry) (Ripley) Jimmo of 3 Coates St., Amherst, N.S. Her death occurred on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. Norma was born in Amherst on August 31, 1936 and was the eldest daughter of the late Alphie and Alma (Gallant) Landry. She received her education in Amherst graduating from Saint Charles High School in 1954 and from Saint Charles Commercial School in 1955. She was instrumental in helping to put two class reunions together, one in 1983 and the fiftieth in June of 2005. Norma retired as payroll clerk after many years of service with the Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority for the Hearing Impaired in 1995. Upon her retirement Norma joined the Amherst Farmers Market and had a table there over the past few years where she enjoyed meeting old and new friends and taking pride in the crafts she displayed. Norma was a proud member of the Amherst Lioness Club for over twenty years, where she held many club offices over the years. She was also a member of the Golden Years Society where she enjoyed the social atmosphere of the Monday morning craft circle. Norma was also a member of the Saint Charles Catholic Women's League. Another club she took great interest in was the Wannabee's Investment Club in which she held the position of vice president. Norma is survived by her son, Philip Scott Ripley at home and her two precious grandchildren who made their home with her, Karyn and Daniel Ripley; step grandson, Alex Richard of St. Louis De kent, N.B;special little friend, Cassidy Dwyer of Amherst; one sister, Linda (Donald) VanBuskirk of Milford, N.S.; three sisters in law, Eileen Jimmo of Victoria, B.C., Marilyn (Jack) VanMart of Quispamsis, N.B., and Sharon Jimmo of Saint John, N.B; four brothers in law, Kenneth (Freda) of Toronto, ON, Oswald (Sylvia) of Qualicum, B.C., Sherman of London, ON and Paul (Linda) Saint John, N.B; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Norma was predeceased by her first husband, Scott Roberts Ripley in 1981 and by her second husband, Alden C. Jimmo in 2004. Cremation has taken place. The family will hold visitation at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, N.S. (902-667-9906) on Sunday, September 7, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. from the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Jeannine Blanchard 1923 - 2008 Jeannine Blanchard, 55 of St. Louis de Kent, NB, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton, NB, surrounded by her family. Born in Maisonnette, NB, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Blanchard and Clara (Godin) Blanchard. She will be sadly missed by her mother Clara, her companion Donald Savoie and his two sons, two sisters; Murielle Blanchard (Reginald Boudreau), Rose-Marie Blanchard (Roland Savoie), three brothers; Jean-Marc Blanchard (Louise LeBreton), Eric Blanchard (Sonia Savoie), Gerald Blanchard; and several nieces and nephews. Jeannine had been a Certified General Accountant until her illness, she was an active member of the CGA Association, she enjoyed playing golf and was an active sportswoman. He was a wealth of knowledge; his mind and his garage were storehouses of eclectic bits and pieces. GEE, Robert (Bob) William Sydney July 4, 1924 - August 28, 2008 The family of Bob Gee announce his passing on Thursday, August 28, at the age of 84 years. Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jeanne, of fifty-five years, his daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Crawford, Melanie and Rod Ridley, Sharon and Bob Ogilvie and Audrey and Rob Campbell and his grandchildren, Pamela, Sandy, Brent, Ben, Krista, Jeana and Kendra. Bob was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB, where he was the second youngest of eight children. He served in the Navy as an able seaman and completed his BA and LLB degrees upon his return. Following his marriage to Jeanne and relocation to Calgary, Bob practiced law for many years and briefly in Regina. Bob was active with the Rotary Club of Calgary South and was awarded an honorary lifetime membership in 2003. He was fond of many active pursuits, including skiing, golfing and curling. Bob and Jeanne were active members of St. Peter's Anglican Church, where they served in various capacities. Bob had a love for music, especially hymns, musical theatre and light opera. His sense of humour and poetry were legendary. Family and friends were inspirations for and delighted recipients of his Ogden Nash style poetry. Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Bob's many, many fine friends and caregivers from the Colonel Belcher Care Centre. She is survived by her daughters Karen (Richard) Cripps of Sussex and Connie (Alcide) Clement of Norton, grandchildren; Shawn (Melanie) Cripps, Nelson Cripps (Ruby), Scott Clement and Christa (Jeff) Layman and five great grandchildren, half brother Raymond Burlock of Moncton and several nieces and nephews. GUIMOND Cayouette Madame Raymonde 1944-2008 Le 3 septembre 2008, à l'âge de 64 ans, Raymonde Guimond a poussé son dernier soupir. Grande aimante de la vie, elle a toujours su trouver le positif chez les gens qu'elle a rencontrés.
