Margaret Aird White MacPherson Posted 1 day ago It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret MacPherson (McKail) in her 90th year, at the Carlingview Manor in Ottawa on Wednesday, August 27, 2008. She was born on April 7, 1919 in Kilmarnock, Scotland, the daughter of David McKail and Isabella (Morton), and the sister of the late Tom (Maisie) and the late Nan (Wilf Tribe). She was a War Bride, married on October 15, 1940 to the late John Austin MacPherson, a sergeant in the Canadian Army from Elderslie Township of the Bruce Peninsula of Ontario. She came to Canada in January, 1945, and was a longtime resident of Toronto, most recently at the Marjory Carton Apartments. Survived by her son John Ian MacPherson and his wife, Hannie of Ottawa, and grandchildren Andrew (Maria) of New York City and Lisa (Roland van der Harst) of Amsterdam and 16 nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her friend Frank Raftis of Merstham, England and her former Toronto neighbour Elfriede Gorgitza. The funeral service will be held at Cameron Funeral Home, Chesley on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 11 am. Interment in the Paisley Cemetery. Arthur Janes, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Saturday, August 30, 2008. He was 92. Arthur was born in St. John's, Nfld., son of the late Herbert and Minnie (Clarke) Janes. He was a past master of Hanover Masonic Lodge and past grand Warden. He was also an honourary member of the Rotary Club and was the recipient of the Paul Harris Membership Award. Survived by his wife Irene (nee Whalley) Janes, son Richard Janes (Lenore Paulin) of Toronto, daughter Sandra Janes (Edward Polonoski) of Guelph, grandchildren Lise and Matthew Janes and Jordan Polonoski. Also survived by his brother Harold Roy (Hildred) Janes of Georgetown, nieces Karen, Linda, Cheri and Debra and nephew David and several grand nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Helen and brother Fred. Visitation was held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Monday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, with Masonic Lodge Service at 6:45 pm, where a Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 1 pm. SOUTH, Grace Susan nee Wilkinson (McCauley) - Peacefully at Laurentian Hospital, Sudbury, on September 3, 2008 in her 94th year. Beloved wife of John “Roy“ McCauley (deceased 1935) and Robert “Bob“ South (deceased 1990). Born in Lee Valley, Ontario to Alexander Lancelot “Bruce“ Wilkinson and Frances Isabelle nee Hunter. Grace and Bob spent a majority of their married life in Sudbury and in later years in Little Current, North Bay and Clearwater, Florida. Grace was a member of the Eastern Star and a past member of the Women's Institute, Massey. She spent many hours sewing for her family and knitting mitts for family, friends and various organizations which donated them to schools. She will be greatly missed by daughter Marian and son Robert and his wife Peggy; her grandchildren Susan and husband Greg Newson, Kimberly and husband Paul Brander, and Bryan South; her great-grandchildren Kyla and Connor Newson and Clayton and Ryan Brander. Grace was predeceased by her brother Lawrence and his wife Estelle, her brother Harold and son-in-law, John Aelick. She is survived by sister-in-law Amy Wilkinson, many nieces, nephews and cousins. NASON, Harold, Eino 2008-09-05 It is with loving remembrance that we cherish the memory of Harold Eino Nason who passed away at his home in Kenora, Ontario December 20, 2007. As per his wish a small family celebration ("with salt fiss sandvitches") has taken place. His request for cremation and disposition of his remains has been followed through. Harold came into this world June 13, 1929. He was raised by his parents, Aili Ellen and Hartley Freeman Nason, in Rossmere and Mabella Ontario. As the oldest, and living in the bush, he was called upon many times to watch over his siblings, do the chores, and keep the bears at bay. Harold had many interests in his life including trapping, fishing, hunting, antiquing, collecting coins, prospecting, and his major passion - collecting rock and mineral specimens. He also had some interesting jobs which included working in the bush camps in the horse and bucksaw era, river driving logs downstream to the mill, discussing pipelining with others, (though his pipeline days were very brief), a lengthy career in sales at Atlas Copco and finally retiring from Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. (Rocky) Harold was kind and generous to a fault, with a zest for life which allowed him to associate with people of various backgrounds. Complications of lifestyles, moral dilemmas, his judgments and judgments by others caused him much inner turmoil, depression, pain and sadness. His move to Kenora and his special friends and caregivers, Tom Goodall and Rodney Symonds, who enjoyed his sharp wit and keen sense of humour vastly improved his quality of life. Their after dinner chats with his daily beer in hand, dogs or cat on his lap, and TV blaring made his loneliness and depression a thing of the past. Visits from his new friends Brian and Melissa, his Kenora family, and weekly phone calls from his sister Elsie gave him much joy. He was particularly pleased that his son Randy telephoned frequently and came to visit before his passing. His upward glance over his spectacles, the Queen of England style of good-bye hand wave, and his special smile and laugh will remain in our minds’ eye always. We do miss the "old rascal" greatly. HERD, Luella 1937 - 2008 It is with great sorrow that we announce the recent passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Lue passed away on September 2, 2008 at the Foothills Hospital. KELLAWAY, Herbert (Herb) Govus August 28, 1923 - August 30, 2008 Herb passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2008 with dignity, strength and grace, maintaining his sense of humour right to the end. Herb was born to George Robert Kellaway and Gwendolyn (Govus) Kellaway in Red Deer, AB. He grew up in Edmonton and joined the RCAF in the later part of the Second World War where he served in England as a crew member of the 428 Ghost Squadron. In 1947 Herb married Kit and began his career with Lever Brothers Ltd., travelling much of Alberta as well as spending many years in Toronto and Winnipeg where he retired as Division Manager in 1984. Living in Winnipeg was a great advantage because a favourite sport of Herb's was duck hunting. After Herb retired, he and Kit moved to Calgary to be close to and enjoy their family. Together they took a number of trips overseas to visit friends and family in England and Denmark. Herb is survived by his sister Irene Sykes; daughter Linda (Duncan) McKitrick; sons, Rod (Sondra) and James Kellaway; grandchildren, Michael (Bonnie) McKitrick, Krista McKitrick, Shay (Steve) Meszaros, Dion (Shannon) Hawke; great-granddaughter Katelyn Meszaros. POLLOCK, Eileen Marguerite The family of Eileen Pollock sadly announces her sudden death in Calgary, Alberta on Sunday, August 31, 2008. Eileen was born in Montreal, Quebec to Allan and Marguerite Pollock. She worked for thirty-four years for the CPR and moved to Calgary in 2006 to be near her family. She was the beloved aunt of June Reichenback and son, Kelsey, of Vancouver; Carol (Allan) Rix of Calgary and children Ann Marie and Trevor; Brian (Jane) Pollock of Taber, Alberta and children, Craig, Trevor, Jenny, Matthew, Michael, Tammy, Tyler, and Kyle. She is also survived by her cousin, Janet Neatby of London, Ontario and her sister-in-law, Margaret Pollock of Calgary, Alberta. She was predeceased by her mother, Marguerite, her father, Allan, and her brothers Clifford and Kenneth. She will be greatly missed by long-time friends Marion and Pat Winning both of Pointe Claire, Quebec. EARLEY, Olga (nee Goretsky) 1915 - 2008 Olga Earley of Calgary passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour at the George Boyack, with her husband at her side on Monday, September 1, 2008. She is survived by her husband Tom of fifty-eight years, her brother Victor Goretsky, her niece Tania (Sean) Cavins and their children Iain, Abram and niece Carolyn (Eric) Zanotta, her nephews Wesley Goretsky (Luke), Winston Goretsky (Laurel) and their children Emily and Carter, Melvin Goretsky and sisters-in-law Clarice Goretsky, Maude Ricard and Amy Bennett. WILSON, Elizabeth Jean (nee Taylor) Born February 4th, 1940. Died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 at age 68. Loving wife and best friend of 46 years to Wil Wilson. Cherished mother of Robert (Diana), Douglas (Rhonda), Sheila, and Beth (Chris Sabourin). Devoted grandmother (Nana) to Valerie, Fiona, Jessica, Abby, Mathew, Daniel, and Robyn. Dear sister of Mae (Morley Kuiack). She will also be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews and her dear friends. Liz will be remembered for her kindness and compassion for others, always putting the needs of others before her own. A devout Christian, she was an active member of the International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons and St. Paul's Eastern United Church. She was also an active member of the Harmelodic Music Club, Beta Sigma Phi and Meals on Wheels. The family would like to thank the staff of the Ottawa Civic Hospital for the wonderful care they provided during Liz's final days. A Service celebrating Liz's life will be held at St. Paul's Eastern United Church, 473 Cumberland St., Ottawa, on Saturday, September 6th at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the Church Hall.
