MACDONALD WEBB, EDITH IRENE (NEE KIRKLAND) Edith MacDonald died peacefully on August 7, 2008 at York Manor. Loving wife first to William K MacDonald, MD (1943-2002) and then to Dr. Frank Webb of Fredericton (August 4, 2003 to her passing). Proud Mother of two daughters, Bonnie Becke (Bremerton, WA) and Virginia Davenport ( Vancouver); three sons, Duncan (Fredericton), Kirkland (Sydney Australia) and James (Ottawa); nine Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren. Edith enjoyed a wonderful life - full of family, travel and creativity. Born March 16, 1920 in Wilkie Saskatchewan she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Home Economics class of 1941. She then moved to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal where she rose to Head Dietician during the war years while her husband served overseas. Following the war she assumed the honorable profession of homemaker - first in Granby, - then Town of Mount Royal, and Pointe Claire PQ - and subsequently in Sydney Australia and Short Hills NJ. She had a special eye for beauty. Her natural sense for flavors and how they could work creatively together; a talent for creating a welcoming family home filled with beauty; and her easy style for entertaining set her apart as a special homemaker. In 1985 she moved with her husband to Sugar Mill Country Club in New Smyrna Beach, FL and became a full time resident, and then a citizen of the United States. These were her happiest days as she had the freedom to fully express her creative talents, while making many new friends volunteering her talents to schools, the arts community, the New Smyrna Beach Garden Club and Sugar Mill. At the age of 67 she decided to take up painting. Within two years she had filled her home with works of art. Several of these varied works were sold to visitors to her home who just had to have this painting or that. On the death of her husband, William, in 2002 she returned to Canada where she met and married Frank Webb. Their days were filled with happy companionship before her health began to deteriorate. She was ably cared for in the last two years at DECH, and then York Manor, where the professional staff and volunteers were so wonderful in making her final days as comfortable and peaceful as possible. To each and every one of these individuals we give our heartfelt thanks. There will be a graveside service for Edith at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 12th, 2008 at the Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Canon Tom Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of the donor's choice or Gignoo House would be much appreciated. Joe, at the age of 57 years, was the beloved son of Grace McDonald and the late Terry Grozelle. COX, John Howard - May 3rd, 1928 - August 10th, 2008. Howard is survived by his beloved wife Joan of 57 years. Loving father of Cheryl, Barbara and John (Trish). Cherished grandfather of Jacob, Frank, Emily, Graham, Reilly, Taylor, Anca, Sorin, Dylan and Justin. Dear brother of Ron. Predeceased by his parents Marjorie and John and by his siblings Alan, Don and Dorothy. Howie was an accomplished athlete and played hockey for the Toronto Marlboros (OHL) and Montreal Royals (QSHL) and the Edmonton Flyers (WHL). He enjoyed a successful career in sales and retired in 1995. He was an avid golfer (Pine Valley, Barrie Country Club) enjoyed wood carving and fishing. His great love was for his family and 10 grandchildren. Howard will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A special thank you to the staff at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph's Urology Unit for their kindness and gentle care. In accordance with Howard's wishes cremation has taken place. LOVINGOOD, Mildred Geraldine (nee Griffin) Born on July 1, 1930 on Calumet Island Quebec. Mildred passed away peacefully on Friday morning August 8, 2008 at her home in Carrollton, Texas. Millie was a retired Dallas Realtor and Broker. She will be remembered as a very caring and giving person, always cheerful and willing to help. She is survived by her only child, Deborah Lovingood Kohlhaas, granddaughters, Shannon Aitchison, Jennifer Kohlhaas, and great grandchildren, Hannah Aitchison and Paige Milliken; and her sisters Ella Chorich, Dorothy Shiles, Anna Lacey, Veronica Kirland, and Marty Almeida. Predeceased by sister Mary McGarrity and brother Gerald Griffin. In addition, dear friend of ex-husband Clyde Lovingood, many loving nieces, nephews and friends. HAWKES, HARRY IRVIN - The death of Harry Irvin. Hawkes husband of the late Dorothy (Wood) Hawkes occurred on Monday August 11, 2008 at The Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1926 he was the son of the late William and Mary (Chambers) Hawkes. Harry is survived by a brother Murray (Eileen), Waterford; a sister Mary Patterson, Sussex; a cousin Sandra (James) Atkinson, Saint John; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Harry was pre deceased by his wife Dorothy (Wood) Hawkes; brothers Robert, James and Roland; sisters Doris and Marjorie. LASKO, Rev. Stan, S.D.S. The Rev. Stanislaw "Stan" Lasko, S.D.S. of Vermilion, Alberta passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the age of 46 years. Father Stan was ordained a priest in 1988 in Poland with the Society of the Divine Saviour (S.D.S.). One of the first pioneers of the Polish Salvatorians in Canada, he served as Pastor in the Dioceses of Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Loving step-grandmother of fourteen and great step-grandmother of eighteen. Dear sister of Evelyn Harrett, Robert Stanley, Anna May Bushey, Maisie and her husband Max Deline, Edward Stanley and his wife Mary, all of Dresden and predeceased by her sister Isobel and by her brother James. WILSON, James “Jim“ - At Trenton Memorial Hospital on Thursday, August 7th, 2008 age 90 years. Jim Wilson (WWII Veteran) of Brighton formerly of Toronto, son of the late Peter Brown and the late Jean (Campbell) formerly of Scotland. Beloved husband of Maude (Sutton) who entered into rest in 2002. Dear brother of Janet “Jessie“ Brand of Toronto and Catherine “Kaye“ Lilley of Guelph. Jim then joined the WWII effort in 1941 as a member of the Royal Canadian Armed Forces where he served overseas until his honorable discharge in 1946. The following years took Jim to both the Telegram and The Toronto Star where he was employed as circulation driver until retiring in 1973 at the age of 55 years. RINTOUL, James Jacob 1987 - 2008 As a result of a tragic accident it is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son James Jacob Rintoul on Friday, August 8, 2008. He was born on August 29, 1987 in Regina, Saskatchewan. In 1991, he moved to Calgary, Alberta with his parents and graduated from Forest Lawn High School in 2005. James also completed his first year of Petroleum Engineering in 2006. Always an ambitious young man, James worked from the time he was fourteen years old to support his love of Chevys and his high tech toys. As a boy, James' other passion was hockey. He played with "Seven Clubs" from the time he was five years old and enjoyed the team atmosphere and many road trips with his friends on the team. As he grew older he had a passion for racing his trail blazer and spending Fridays at Race City Speedway. James also enjoyed camping with his family and friends, fishing, snowboarding and water sports. He was named after two special people, his grandfathers, James Rintoul and Jacob Eberle. James will be greatly missed by his mother Leanne, his father Garnet, his sister Laura and his loving girlfriend Amanda Cormier. He will also be missed by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, godparents Emiel and Florine as well as his many friends. RICHARDS, Walter Edward "Ted" 66, of Port Bickerton, NS, formerly of Ottawa, ON, died Thursday, June 19, 2008. Born in Montreal, QC, he was a son of the late George Edward and Hazel Audrey (Smith) Richards. During his working years, Ted was employed with Agriculture Canada, specializing in plant research, and later with Transport Canada as a Senior Accident Investigator (Land). He was a voracious reader and had a great interest in antique cars, trains, racing and astronomy. He is survived by daughter, Kirsten Richards; granddaughters, Savannah Richards and Sierra Richards, all of Ottawa, ON; sister Joan (Ernest) Jarvis, Enfield, NS; brother Robert (Valerie) Richards, St. Catharines, ON; aunt Olive Richards, Ottawa, ON; several nieces and nephews.
