Louis Bourgeois 1924 - 2008 Moncton - Louis Bourgeois, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on August 9th at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Notre-Dame de Kent on June 20th, 1924, he was the son of the late Honoré Bourgeois and the late Justine Bourque. He was employed at Leby's Interior Fixtures in Moncton. He was a member of Notre-Dame-de-la Paix Roman Catholic Church in Moncton and the Club d'ge d'Or in Dieppe. Louis will be sadly missed by his wife, Yvonne (Caissie) Bourgeois and his two daughters, Denise (Bernard Chenard) of Mont Joli, Qc and Odette (Ronald Fougère) of Shediac Bridge. Besides his wife and daughters, he is survived by two brothers, Hervé (Rosa) of Notre-Dame, Ernest (Eva) of Moncton; two sisters, Sr. Doris Bourgeois (NDSC) and Rhéa (Omer Gaudet) both of Moncton; one sister-in-law, Edmée Bourgeois (late Thomas) of Moncton; four granddaughters, Isabelle and Sophie Chenard and Annik and Marcia Fougère. Frederick (Teddy) Fowlie 1937 - 2008 Frederick (Teddy) William Fowlie, husband of Blanche (Bunny) Fowlie, of Miramichi Bay, passed away on arrival at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at the age of 70. Born in Black River Bridge, on September 22, 1937, he was the son of the late William and Agnes (MacLean) Fowlie. He was Christian by Faith and a retired employee of Byron MacDonald Painting Ltd. He is survived by his wife, the former Blanche (Bunny) MacDonald; five daughters, Pam Hauselmann (Roni), of Stouffville, Ont., Nansi Carter (Wallace), of Moncton, Angela McCall (Andy), of Ajax, Ont., Jodi Fowlie (Shawn), of Miramichi Bay, Jill Fowlie (Rob), of Whitby, Ont.; three sons, Herbert Fowlie (Gwen), of Cookstown, Ont., Darren MacDonald (Peggy), of Miramichi, Barclay MacDonald (Tanya), of Red Deer, Alberta; two sisters, Anna Watling (Neil), of Little Branch Road and Beth Fowlie, of Miramichi Bay; two brothers, Ingram Fowlie (Connie), of Port Hawksbury, N.S. and Archie Fowlie (Jean), of Bathurst; Teddy was a very special "Papa" to eleven grandchildren. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Friday. The funeral service was held from the home of Stephen MacDonald, 112 North Napan Road, on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at 4 pm, with William Bryant officiating. The music for the service was provided by Mrs. Lorraine Dickson and the hymns were "Thy Child" and ""Teach Me Thy Way". A special musical selection was offered by Ted's uncle, Everard MacLean on the fiddle and a poem was presented by Darren Fowlie, Ted's nephew. HOWSE, Robert (Bob) - 13 March, 1944 - 9 August, 2008 “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the places you can.“ John Wesley A short struggle with cancer ended peacefully as Robert George Howse passed from the arms of his wife to the arms of his Saviour. In 64 years Bob deeply touched the lives of his family, friends, co-workers and community. Dearly loved wife Nancy, his children and grandchildren, Paul Howse (predeceased), Lynn van Egmond (Mike, Dinah, Daphne, Nico), Erin Buczkowski (Braden, Isabelle, Thomas) and Dennis Howse (Tephanie, Chris, Nikki, Dawson, Josh, Noah) marvelled at his self-sacrificing love. La SALLE, Gordon Allan - Unexpectedly, but peacefully at his home on Friday, August 8, 2008, Gordon Allan La Salle of Woodstock in his 83rd year. Born in Brantford, Ontario on February 14, 1926. Beloved husband of Joan La Salle (nee Burr) of Woodstock and dear father of Margaret La Salle of London. Predeceased by his infant twin daughters, Barbara and Brenda (1963), parents Fred and Mary (nee Bush) La Salle, and brothers Frank, George, Ray, Charles “Chuck,” and Doug. Survived by one brother Vern, sisters Evelyn, Phyllis, Violet and Edna, and many nieces and nephews. Gord graduated from Brantford Collegiate Institute in 1944. He joined the Armed Forces and served overseas from 1945 to 1946 in the Second World War. Gord was employed by Union Gas and was Branch Manager in Woodstock from 1957 to 1975. He was promoted to Manager of Sales Administration, Central Region, and worked from the London office from 1975 to 1983. Gord played an active role in the community and was an alderman for the City of Woodstock from 1974 to 1978. He belonged to Lions International for many years and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award for dedicated humanitarian services. Many will also remember his work with the Oxford Industrial Accident Prevention Association and the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority. Gord was a Past President of the Woodstock Homebuilders Association and also a member of Oxford Lodge #76 A.F. & A.M. and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 55, Woodstock. SAUER, Edgar & SAUER, Simone (nee Lafond) - It is with sadness that the family of Edgar Ed Sauer and Simone Sauer (Lafond) announces their passing on July 4th, 2008 and August 5th, 2008 respectively at the ages of 92 and 89. They are survived by by their children Allen, Lawrence, Marlene and Robert, their spouses and grandchildren. Lovingly remembered in Kirkland Lake by their granddaughter Jennifer Boudreault (Sauer) and her family. Ed was born in Golden Lake in 1916. He began his working career at the age of 11 on the construction of Highway 17. We worked as a Millwright in the mines from Malartic, Que. to Elliott Lake. Later he was employed by the Sifto Salt Mines in Goderich and he ended his career with General Electric in Peterborough. In Quebec he met and married Simone. Their children were born in Malartic and Kirkland Lake and spent their childhoods there and in Virginatown. Ed and Simone retired in Peterborough. For the last year they had resided in Extendicare in Peterborough. A private family funeral will take place in Golden Lake in the future. 11194674

NICKERSON, Mary Louise (nee Lockett) June 11, 1924 - August 6, 2008 - Beloved wife of Dr. Granville H. Nickerson. Daughter of the late Horace G. Lockett and Gladness Chapman. Loving and devoted mother of David (Penny), Marnie (Jonathan), Janet (Duncan) and step-mother to Kate (Bob), Sarah and Granville (pre-deceased) and an especially cherished grandmother to her 15 grandchildren and her 2 great- grandchildren. Mary Lou grew up in Hamilton, was a graduate in Honours English from McMaster University, a winner of the McGregor-Smith-Burr scholarship in her third year. She was an enthusiastic participant in the college operettas each year and was an Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto in solo performer voice. While in Toronto she sang in the Mendelsshon Choir under the direction of Sir Earnest MacMillan, and later, in Montreal, in the Elgar Choir. She lived for many years in Montreal and subsequently for twenty years in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, and had been in Cobourg for the last 8 years. Mary Lou was endowed with many personal gifts - strength, humour, charm, a brilliant mind and a superb talent for organization. She was an active member of the United Church of Canada while in Montreal and Bridgewater and, as a skillful, knowledgeable and effective lay preacher, participated frequently in the pulpit in both churches. Mary Lou, a Canadian, was the Secretary of the Women's Association of First Presbyterian Church at Naples, Florida. It had often been observed that she made it respectable to be an enthusiastic Christian. Amateur theatre was one of her great delights, supporting and acting in The Mount Royal Theatre (Que.) and the Bridgewater Theatre (N.S.). She and her husband traveled extensively. They went to the Peoples Republic of China on four occasions with the Evangelical Medical Aid Society of Canada, first in 1988. Mary Lou taught English and feminine social graces and behaviour of Canadian women to her Chinese friends, often to their great amusement. Mary Lou will be remembered with great affection and will be mourned by many. She chose the Gardens at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, as her final resting place. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Fairlawn Avenue United Church (28 Fairlawn Avenue, Toronto) on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 3 pm. GILLOTT, Kitty Irene (nee Marriner) Born January 6, 1934 at Cold Ash, Liphook, Hampshire, England, died August 8, 2008 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada at the age of 74 years. Kitty is survived by her children Rosemary (Joost), Fiona, Roger (Melanie); grandchildren Jeffrey, Nicholas, Benjamin, Emma and Eleanor. Kitty was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack of 49 years. She was a devoted wife and mother and an enthusiastic gardener who will be greatly missed. Kitty graduated from the University of Reading with a B.A. in English, Latin and History before working for Pitman's Publishing House in London. After immigrating to Canada in 1958, she worked in the editorial office at the National Research Council of Canada before having a family. In addition to raising three children and numerous pets, she taught Sunday School, was a Beaver and Girl Guide Leader, and was a member of the University Women's Club for nearly forty years. A Funeral Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 1138 Bridge Street, Manotick, Ontario on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 2 pm. MAZURSKI , Paul 2008-08-11 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Paul Mazurski on August 11, 2008. Paul was a resident at Pinewood Court. He was born on April 7 1923 to Nicholas and Eva Mazurski. Paul was a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, and worked for 48 years at Canada Car (Bombardier) where he met Valma Fiskar. They were happily married for 60 years. She predeceased him in October 2003. Paul is survived by his children Karen (Jim) Radcliff, Gunnard (Siegried) Mazurski (Sault Ste. Marie), grandchildren James (Cindy), Barry (Barbara) Radcliff, Christopher and Trevor Mazurski, great grandchildren Stephen, Caitlin and Taylor, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sister Lovette Brown, brother Peter Mazurski (Jenny), brother in-law Al Fiskar and sister in-law Elsie Johnson. Predeceased by his parents, twin brother in infancy, brothers Tony, Morris, sister Stella Slobojan, brother in-laws Dan Slobojan, Arvo Johnson, Albert Brown and sister in-law Marion Fiskar. Paul was a gentle and caring man and he will be sadly missed. MCGOVERN, DONALD - Donald Paul McGovern of Saint John devoted husband of Brenda (Spray) McGovern, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday August 9, 2008 surrounded by his family. Born 1946 in Saint John to the late Laura Leslie (Eccles) and Walter Leo McGovern. Donald was a mechanic for the Department of Transportation and Waste Management.
