McINTYRE, Bessie R. It is with thankfulness for her long and gracious life Bessie R. (Manson) McIntyre's family announce her passing at the age of 98 at Lanark Lodge, Perth on Sunday, August 10th, 2008. Wife of the late William P. "Bill" McIntyre. Loved mother of Ray (Kay), Bernice (late Norm) Turgeon and the late Joyce Scott and Bill McIntyre. Cherished grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Rachel (Somerville) Manson and her 7 brothers and sisters; she will be sadly missed by son-in-law Gordon Scott, daughter-in-law Florence Doran, her family and friends. The funeral service will be held privately for the family on Tuesday, August 12th, 2008 followed by interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Middleville. MATHIESON, Justin Nelson August 13, 1984 - August 9, 2008 Justin Nelson Mathieson of Calgary passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the age of 23 years. Justin was born on August 13, 1984 in Calgary along with his twin sister Nicole, they were as one. Justin was involved in scouts, football, rugby and snowboarding. He enjoyed mechanics and construction and was a lover of animals. Animals were prevalent throughout Justin's life, he loved to spend time with his pets, and enjoyed being at his aunt Laurie's dog kennel. Justin graduated from Bowness High School with honours and some University of Calgary education. His passions were the environment and the outdoors. Justin had a kind and gentle spirit. Justin is survived by his father Tim Mathieson; his twin sister Nicole; stepbrother Tyler Tompkins and a very special aunt and uncle, Laurie McKenna Lange and Steve Lange. He is also survived by his mother Joy McKenna Naccarato; grandparents Nelson and Louise Mathieson, Dorothy Leeds; great-grandmother Mona Brisdon; and step-grandmother Reta McKenna Lange; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Justin was predeceased by his grandfather Ken McKenna. MELNYK, Maria April 10, 1927 - August 7, 2008 Maria Melnyk of Calgary passed away unexpectedly on August 7, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Maria was born April 10, 1927 in the village of Lanczyn, Ukraine. She came to Canada in 1950 with her husband Theodor and they settled in Calgary. Maria was a loving wife and mother who devoted herself to caring for her family. She enjoyed baking and gardening and took great pride in her work. Maria was an active member to the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League and Church. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her and will always be remembered as a warm, kind beautiful person. Maria is survived by her children, Ann (Jacques) Rioux, Irene Melnyk, and Peter Melnyk (Christina - Derek and Jennifer), all of Calgary; as well as three grandsons, Robert, Michael and Dallas; and one great-grandson, Deklan. She will also be remembered by her niece Marie Russo and her family and her nephew Jozef Fiolek. She was predeceased by her husband Theodor in March 2007. NELSON, Thomas Donald 1926 - 2008 On Sunday, August 10, 2008 Don lost his battle with cancer, leaving behind his loving and caring wife of 56 years, Rosemarie, his son Christopher, and brother Eric in the U.K. Don served with the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm, The Royal Air Force, R.C.A.F. and Canadian Forces, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. A second career followed with the Public Service of Canada. A keen hobby sailor for many years, Don subsequently became an enthusiastic designer and builder of radio control model sailboats and enjoyed many sunny summer afternoons at the pond in Andrew Haydon Park, with a group of good friends and fellow enthusiasts. His musical talents were employed in playing the piano with various musical groups, giving much pleasure to seniors in retirement residences, long term care facilities and the Kanata Senior's Centre. At Don's specific request there will be no visitation or formal funeral. Following cremation there will be a brief interment ceremony for family and close friends to say goodbye, at the Highland Park Cemetery, date & time to be announced. Heartfelt thanks to all those friends who have helped in so many ways during this difficult period. PHILLIPS - Lee Evans passed away on August 7, 2008 at the age of 61 following a brave journey with cancer. Lee was born September 13, 1946 in Vancouver, BC. Lee met Doreen, the love of his life, during high school in Williams Lake, BC and married July 5, 1969. Shortly after starting his family, he moved to Calgary, AB. Lee was a master wood craftsmen and could be found tinkering around the house or working on his collection of automobiles, trailers and campers. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved to fish, hunt and camp. Lee had the true gift to inspire all of us to achieve our greatest potential and will be remembered for his fun, loving sense of humor and as the man who would lend a hand and a heart. Lee's life was filled with a love for life, family and friends. Lee is survived by his wife, Doreen Phillips; son and daughter-in-law, Corey and Debbie Phillips and grandchildren, Cohen and Milan; daughter, Crystal Phillips; mother, Djynase Aikin; sisters, Debbie Guilbault (Jim) and Cherri Fitzsimmons and their family members; cousin, Larry Coupal (Shirley) and his family; and his brother's families. SPROTT, RUSSELL G. - The death of Russell Guy Sprott of Lower Cove, NB occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on August 10, 2008 at the age of 48. Born at Sussex, the son of Jean (Chase) Sprott of Lower Cove and the late Gavin "Guy" Sprott. He is survived by his mother; aunt, Ida McFarlane; special friend, Regina Fahrenbach; numerous cousins; and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his father; maternal grandparents, Joel and Ella Chase; paternal grandparents, Martin and Mary Sprott; and close friend, Mary Lou Langin. Russell was the proud owner of RGS Auto, a business he operated for 2 years. He was employed for 22 years with Lamb Ford. He was a ski-doo and motorcycle enthusiast, taking part in many charity rides. He would lend a hand to anyone who asked for it and was always tinkering or fixing something. COURTNEY, Elizabeth "Liz" Christine (Nee Steinhaus) Peacefully after a courageous 2 1/2 year battle with breast cancer at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre on Sunday August 10, 2008 at the age of 48 years. Liz was predeceased by her parents Ted and Wilma Steinhaus. She leaves behind her three boys, husband Mike and her two sons Mitchell and Tyler who she loved dearly; her sister Mary Ann (Bob Harrison) and brother Allen (Sue Gelinas) ; her nephews Danny, Sam, Jamie, Cody and Cole and her nieces Nadia, Kali, Alyssa. Besides her love for her family Liz had a passion for education and left her mark on many colleagues and students in Nunavut. She also had the love for fishing and anytime you wanted Liz to take a break, you only had to show her a fishing pole. SWAN, Jack 2008-08-12 Mr. Jack Swan age 76 years passed away peacefully in St. Joseph‘s Hospice on Sunday August 10th, 2008, after a lengthy battle with cancer.He was born December 15th, 1931 in London, Ontario, moving as a young man to Fort William where he was always involved with heavy equipment, scrap metal, tractor trailers and so on. He also ran his own business KarBasher for a few years. He later sold the business and then worked for others until retiring in 1998.As a young man Jack enjoyed racing stock cars. In his later years he enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his wife and grandchildren especially Jamie-Lee and Kylie Rae.He is survived by his wife Dorothy, sons Steven, Les (Cathy), and Gary (Helen) and his daughter Cindy. 10 grandchildren as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives also survive. He was predeceased by his second wife Lorna in 1989.Funeral Services for the late Mr. Jack Swan will be held on Thursday August 14th, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of HARBOURVIEW FUNERAL CENTRE, 499 North Cumberland Street. WALLACE, Kenneth Alfred 1934 - 2008 Mr. Kenneth Alfred Wallace of High River, beloved husband of Sharon Wallace, passed away at 4:00 a.m. on August 10, 2008 at the age of 74 years. Ken was born on the family homestead, Spitzee Ranch, on June 19, 1934 to Andy and Kathleen Wallace and took his schooling in High River and Olds College. He was active in the purebred cattle industry with his father and later on his own until retiring to town in 1990. Ken was a grandson of the noted R.A. Wallace, legislative member N.W.T. and mayor of High River (1910 to 1913). He was active in many community organizations including scouting, the High River Band, Kiwanis (President and Lieutenant Governor), hockey and curling. He also enjoyed outriding for nine years with such noted chuckwagon drivers as L.O. Nelson, Ralph Vigen and Dave Lewis. Ken is survived by his wife Sharon, High River, one son Kenneth (Amber), High River and two daughters, Wendy Lukianchuk (Henry), Edmonton and Sue Fidler (Dave), Kelowna, B.C. and by grandchildren Scott Wallace, Kaleigh and Julie Fidler. He is also survived by Sharon's children Blair Handel (Georgia), Okotoks and Alanna Parker (Jason), New Westminster, B.C. and step-grandchildren Tyler Babkirk (Nicole), Al, Jesse, and Michelle Handel, Zara and Maurice Cruse, great-step-grandson Johnny Babkirk and by sister Donna, Calgary. She loved to have a meal and visit with friends and talk about plays or shows they had seen. She often took out her husbands aunt to lunch in Sombra on a Sunday afternoon. Paula worked at City hall for several years on the switchboard until her husband was transferred to Toronto and then to Windsor. There, she worked as a secretary for several different businesses until Jack's death when she moved back to Sarnia. Predeceased by her parents John and Blanche Wilson, by her brother Charles Wilson and his wife Louise and by her nephew Ronald Wilson. WISEMAN, John (Jack) Clifford - Resident of Burlington, Ontario. After a brief illness, at the age of 80, John passed away peacefully on July 28, 2008, with loved ones at his side, in Dawson Creek Hospital, Dawson Creek, B.C. Predeceased by his loving wife Lucille, dear brothers Robert Wiseman, James Wiseman and Terry Wiseman. John is lovingly remembered by his son John R. JACKSON (nee HOWEY), Judith (Judi) Yvonne - December 17, 1935-August 9, 2008 - More than anything else, Mom loved her family. She was ever vigilant for ways for us to celebrate together - sometimes in small ways, like pink milk on Valentine's Day for me (Kathy) and Suzanne as kids, other times, not so small, like her seventieth birthday which she marked by getting a tattoo and throwing a grand party. To her a fabulous party meant gathering friends and family, putting on her most glamorous outfit and dancing the night away – preferably to the Rolling Stones. Mom was well loved by our Dad, Don, for 51 years. Together they embraced the joys and trials of parenthood (no matter what she told you, Suzanne and I are not perfect) and lived life by ‘stopping to smell the roses' as frequently as possible, which often meant planning their next trip to some exotic location before the laundry was done from the first. An afternoon spent playing board games with her grandchildren - Riley, Liam, Claire and Cole was one of Mom's favourite things to do. Chatting and laughing with her friends, interspersed with the odd hand of bridge, was another thing that made her truly happy. A city girl at heart (to her camping meant any hotel with less than four stars), Mom was always eager for the snow to melt so she and Dad could get up to ‘Paradise', as she liked to call Southampton. Mom loved her years in teaching, but we all agree that her true calling was in fund raising. Variety Club, Centenary Hospital and the Southampton Art School are just a few of the organizations that benefitted from her efforts. A voracious reader, baker of cookies and founding member of The Hardcore Grannies, she will be deeply missed by many. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Canadian Lung Association or Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation. The memorial will be at 3 pm on Friday August 15, 2008 at Southampton United Church. A celebration of Mom's life will follow at 320 Blanchfield Road, Southampton. OBITUARY NANCY ADALINE JARDIN (nee STATON) Beloved wife of Dr. Allan B. Jardin passed away suddenly and peacefully Saturday August 9, 2008 at the Jewish General Hospital at the age of sixty-seven. Devoted mother grandmother, sister and aunt, she leaves to mourn her eight children Catherine (Tony Cerulli), Theresa (Albert Ottoni) of Oakville, Andrea (Allen Kehoe) of Alliston, Barbara, Nicole (Ian Nicholson) of Calgary, Michelle, Paul (Joanne Metcalfe) of Calgary and Marylene (Frank Myrskog) of Vancouver and eighteen grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas and Michael; Evan, Christine and Amanda; Gordon and Jeffrey; Laurne, Barbara, Lee and Kenny; Valerie and Heather; Laura, Andrew and Emily and Harper; sister of the late Robert Staton (Diane Carnegie), James Staton and John Staton (Anne Edwards); and aunt to many nieces and nephews. A born nurturer, she gave lovingly of herself, doing it with a warm hug and a remarkable smile. She will be greatly missed by all she touched. In High School attended St. Helen's where she was captain of the basketball team and an excellent student. On July 23, 1960, she married Dr. Allan B. Jardin. Over the years they had 8 children. Lovingly, "Mrs. J" supported and encouraged her children and grandchildren through the hectic schedule of school, competitive swimming and baseball. Nancy was always actively involved using her amazing talent for organization and creativity wherever she went. Nancy also worked alongside Allan in the Outremont dental office for many years, where she continued to give to others, caring for each and every patient until Allan's retirement. Never one to stay still, Miss Nancy then worked at St. Ignatius of Loyola Elementary School for five years, bringing her great joy by contributing to the school life of the children. Grandy was always happiest surrounded by others, especially her 18 grandchildren; all of whom she loved and nurtured as one of her own. Though departed from our presence, the memory of her warmth, generosity, creativity and endless kindness will live on forever. She was a true angel who will be deeply missed. LEPIC, Albert - 1915-2008 - The family announces with great sorrow his passing on Sunday August 10, 2008 at the Timmins and District Hospital, at the age of 92. Predeceased by his beloved wife Beatrice (nee Larue) in 1994. Loving father of Dan (Brenda) of Waterloo, Chuck of Timmins and Tina Jeffery (Bill) of Whitby. Albert proudly served as a member of the Timmins Police Service for 40 years and was Chief from 1946 to 1953. He was also a proud and long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br.88 in Timmins.
