GOURLEY, Ethel Dorothy September 17, 1930 - July 30, 2008 Ethel Gourley passed away peacefully at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre in Claresholm on July 30, 2008 at the age of 77 years. Ethel is survived by her children: Linda Gourley, David (Joanne) Gourley, Brian (Marilyn) Gourley, Carol (Derek) Wallace, Jim (Gywnneth) Gourley and Ted Gourley. Ethel is also survived by her twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren as well as her sisters Edna Corey and Phyllis (Allan) Lonkinger. Ethel married Bob Gourley in 1948 and lived on military bases from 1953 to 1971, living in each province from B.C. to Ontario. Ethel settled in B.C. till 1971 and then moved to Alberta in 1976 where she worked at the Holy Cross Hospital until retiring in 1991. In 2002 she moved to the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre due to illness. A special thank you to all of the nurses, doctors and staff at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre. GUTTERIDGE, Dorothy Passed away on July 1, 2008, in Ottawa. Born in Winnipeg 1915, Dorothy came to Ottawa with her mother in the early 1940s. Retired in 1975 after almost 30 years with the Federal Public Service. A lifelong member of the Anglican Church, she devoted many years as a dedicated Sunday School teacher at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, Chelsea. Gentle and kind, lover of nature, cross-country skiing, and the Gatineau Hills, Dorothy lived for many years in Larrimac (Chelsea), QC. More recently, she was a resident of the Andy Andras Housing Cooperative For Seniors, and then Billings Lodge Retirement Community. Many thanks to the staff of Billings Lodge for their kind and attentive care of Dorothy in her last years. HUDOLIN, Frank 2008-08-05 The family of Frank Hudolin announce with great sadness the passing of Frank Hudolin, age 91 years on August 4, 2008 at his residence at Dawson Court. Frank was born April 3, 1917 in Slovenia, Yugoslavia, coming to Canada in 1936. Frank resided in Thunder Bay, Ontario with his parents, brother and sister. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces during W.W. 11. Frank was employed with the Port Arthur Shipyards and then with Abitibi Paper Mill until his retirement. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Doris and by his sister Mary. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother John and wife Phyllis, nephew Jack, Maria and their children, nephew Richard, Mary and their children, son Norman (Anna), son Eddy (Terry) and grandchildren Kiia and Kale, and son David ( Irma) and granddaughter Alissa. McREYNOLDS, Grant William It is with great sadness that the family of Grant William McReynolds ("G Man") announces his passing on July 31, 2008 in Calgary, Alberta. Grant was born on January 14, 1963 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and then moved to Calgary, Alberta with his family at a young age. Grant graduated from University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics degree in 1988. Grant met Kathy, the love of his life, on January 14, 1996 and was in absolute glory when they married on May 13, 2000. His passion for life was his avid involvement in strength sport as a competitor as well as coaching and mentoring others. Grant was actively involved in various international competitions including Olympic lifting, strongman, power lifting, body building, highland games, Canadian Gladiators and many more. Grant's other interests included hiking, biking, scuba diving and being around his many friends. He had the true gift to inspire all of us to achieve our greatest potential and will be remembered as the "Gentle Giant". Survivors include his wife, Kathy; dad and stepmother, Floyd and Wilda; mom and brother, Myrna and Steve; mother and father-in-law, Tony and Luella as well as an endless number of friends and other family members. PORCINO, Domenic - Sadly, on Sunday August 3, 2008, Domenic in his 70th year, passed away peacefully at Hospice Niagara. He will be missed by his brothers Joseph Porcino (the late Josephine), Philip Porcino, Nino Porcino (Connie), his brother in-law Rocco Votano, and many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Fortunato & Eleonora Porcino, and by his sisters Maria Votano and Catherine Ranalli. Domenic was born in Orti di Reggio, Calabria, Italy on January 2, 1938. He emigrated to Canada in 1956 at the age of 18. A tailor by trade, he was employed by Tip Top Tailors in Toronto. He later took employment with Sunbeam Shoe Factory, The Welland Chemical Plant, and local construction companies. Domenic took great pride in his concrete work and enjoyed fishing, sewing and gardening. TRECARTIN, COLBY SMITH - The death of Mr. Colby S. Trecartin, husband of Elsie (Hampton) Trecartin of Saint John West, occurred unexpectedly at his residence on August 2, 2008. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late George and Pearl (Nichols) Trecartin. Colby worked at the Bayshore CPR Roundhouse for 15 years and the Irving Pulp and Paper for 32 years, retiring in 1992. As well as his family, he will be sadly missed by his friends at Tim Horton's and the Liar's Club at the City Market. Besides his wife Elsie, he is survived by son, Derek Trecartin (Roberta Martin), daughters, Gail (Erick) McLaughlin and Carolyn Kehl, all of Saint John, brothers George (Audrey) Trecartin of Wickham and Kenneth (Betty) Trecartin of Gagetown, Marion (Jim) Stevens of Saint John and Jane (Gordon) McKay of Sussex. He is also survived by six grandchildren Danielle (Dave) Jacquard-Hillman, Cory Jacquard, Andrew Trecartin, Amanda Kehl, Samantha Mackie, and Michael Trecartin, four great-grandchildren Emily, Julia, Zachary and Quinn several nieces and nephews. VANCE, Bennie Peacefully after working the fields on his beloved acreage on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at the age of 79 years. Cherished husband and best friend for 46 years of Barbara (nee Argue). Loving father of Murray (Nicole) and the late Trevor. Proud grandpa to Brian, Jessica, and Emilee. He will be sadly missed by his brother Eddie and his cousin Anna Mae Lacroix. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. In the beginning, Bennie's interests led him to ownership of BV Motors doing body work. Later he drove school bus for 45 years. He was a longtime hunter and trapper. His love of sports brought him to activities like broomball, snowmobiling, and horse racing, where he bred and trained the horses. Registered cattle followed his commercial herd and today V5 Simmentals are well known. He was an avid supporter and participant of the Cattlemen's Association, Ottawa Valley Farm Show, many agriculture fairs, and the local and provincial Simmental Clubs. He was the proud recipient of a spot in the Canadian Simmental Association's Hall of Fame. WILLIAMS, Shirlie Ann - Shirlie was born May 31, 1937, passed away August 1, 2008 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 71. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Williams (1985). Shirlie will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Shirlie (Paul) Van Putten and Joanne (Michel) Williams, her son John (Elsa) Williams as well as her special friend Doug Hurd. Fondly remembered by all her grandchildren Michael, Jimmy, Stephen, Christopher, Todd, Amanda, Bailey and honorary grandchildren Adam and Jamie Lynn. Shirlie will be sadly missed by her many friends and relatives. Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital for making Shirlie's last days comfortable. Retired Industry, Trade and Commerce employee Veteran, Canadian Army, WWII University of Toronto, Forestry Engineer Rivermead Golf Club (1920 - 2008) Peacefully and with dignity, surrounded by his family, Manning passed away Saturday, August 2, 2008. Beloved husband for 58 years of Anne Corrigan, and son of the late Daniel Monaghan and Stella Tierney of Fallowfield. He is survived by 4 loving and devoted children, Susan (Tony Dalati), Patricia (Vineberg), Sean, and Lisa (Mike Cauley); his 5 cherished grandchildren Anne-Marie, Daniel, Benjamin, Andrew and Jenna. He also is survived by his brothers Bernard (Jan Casey) and John (Eileen Maloney), sister Theresa (John McKay). Predeceased by his brother Tom (Julia Jennings) and his sister Margaret (the late John Liston). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and good friends at the Smuckers Club, the Rivermead Golf Club, and especially Gerry Dover. Manning will be fondly remembered for his love of trees, family history, travel, and sports. He loved sharing a good story, a great meal, and a glass of wine with family and friends. He loved getting a good poker hand and betting on his favourite sports teams, but most of all, he adored Annie. HAROLD, Sharon Lee - At Bluewater Health-Mitton Site on Friday, August 1, 2007, Sharon Lee Harold, age 66 of Sarnia, beloved daughter of the late George Hadley and Audrey (Bazeley) Harold. Dear sister of Christi Harold, Paula Vickers and her husband Paul, Steve Harold and his wife Anne, Joel Harold and his wife Shirley and Mark Harold and his wife Joyce all of Sarnia. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. A lifelong Sarnia resident, Sharon was a long time employee with Home Hardware (Cromwell and Russell) and an avid supporter of the Sarnia and District Humane Society. Cremation has taken place. Eugène Goulet 1923 - 2008 Au Foyer des Vétérans du CHUL, Québec, le 3 août 2008, à l'âge de 84 ans 11 mois, est décédé monsieur Eugène Goulet, époux de dame Madeleine Nolin. Né à Québec le 18 août 1923, monsieur était le fils de feu dame Clara Thibault et de feu monsieur Albert Goulet. Vétéran de la seconde guerre mondiale (1939-1945), monsieur Goulet était retraité de Postes Canada. Les funérailles seront célébrées le mercredi 6 août 2008 à 11h, en l'église de La Nativité de Notre-Dame, 25, rue du Couvent, arrondissement Beauport, où la famille vous accueillera à compter de 10 h. HARRIS, Robert, James 2008-08-05 Robert Harris died on Saturday August 2, 2008 after a brief illness. He was born on June 29, 1928 in Fort William where he was raised, educated and worked for many years as Regional Manager with Catelli/ Five Roses Foods. For the past thirty years he operated his own business, Quadra Brokerage Sales and was always going to retire "tomorrow." Bob worked part-time at Canadian Tire, until the day before he went in the hospital, to keep himself "active, in the know and to cover golf fees." Bob was a member of the Associated Canadian Travelers, and a long term member and lay reader of St Thomas‘ Anglican Church. He volunteered for several charitable organizations and was very active in many community services and events. Bob married Geraldine Perry on September 17, 1948. They were married forty seven years before Gerry passed away in February 1995. He is survived by his son Ronald (wife Georgina), grandchild Jennifer Harris; and daughter Debra and grandchildren Aynsley Thomas (McIntyre), Nathan Thomas, Jonathan Thomas, great grand children Paige and Mitchell McIntyre. He was predeased by his brothers and sisters George, Margarite (Doran), Lloyd, Catherine (Gillis) and Edward. He is also survived by sister-in-laws Mary Harris, Betty Spencer, Hawley Gareau and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was a member of Northwest Funeral Alternative and cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 Friday morning August 8 in St. Thomas Anglican Church, West Fort William with the Rev. Andrew Hoskin officiating. The family will hold interment in Mountain View Cemetery at a later time. "If there‘s no golf in Heaven then I‘m not going!" God looked around His golf course and saw that special place to the right side of the fairway, He had reserved a space.
