OBITUARY PAMELA JEAN LANGILLE Age fifty-eight, passed away in her home in Halifax on July 12, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Sackville, NB, in 1949 and raised in Dorval, Que., Pam was the younger daughter of Norma (Hatherly) Langille and the late Lloyd Langille; beloved mother of Christopher and Katharine; and sister of Barbara; Lawrencetown, NS; Paul, Pointe Claire, Que., and Richard (Giselle), Ottawa, Ont. She was an aunt to Christine (Francois), Jennifer (Patrick), Mary, Erin (Miguel), and Michael, and a great-aunt to Benjamin, Sarah, Emilie and Lili. Her Uncle Don Hatherly, Granville Center, NS, was very special to Pam. A woman of many talents, she was a social worker, and held a variety of jobs and was politically involved with the New Democratic Party of Nova Scotia. Pam's passion during the past two decades was advocating for the protection of the Acadian Forest, wilderness areas and sustainable forest practices. Many of the ideas she and her colleagues initiated are now being adopted and actively discussed by government and industry. Donations in Pam's memory can be sent to the Eastern Shore Forest Watch Association (Comp 10, Site 2 RR#1 Head Jeddore, NS, B0J 1P0) to support continuance of this work. A private burial has been held and a memorial service will follow at a later date. WILLIAMS, Mary Beatrice (nee Powell). 1922-2008. Daughter of William George Powell and Jessie Powell, younger sister of Walter, Ernest and Joe, passed away peacefully in her home in Rougemont, North Carolina, April 12, 2008. May is survived by her daughter Mary Diane Williams Garber and her son in law Lawrence Lowell Garber Jr., her nieces Dorothy McMeekin, Brenda Dickau, and her nephews Gordon Powell, Kenneth Powell, Robert Parker and their children. May was married to Geoffrey Vaughan Williams for more than 40 years after meeting at Dominion Tar and Chemical Company. Geoff served with the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. May and Geoff were members of Grace Church and St. Paul's Anglican Church Lachine for many years. They both participated in amateur theatre with the Grace Church Players and May was a soprano soloist with Grace Church and St. Paul's choirs. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Lachine, Quebec. In lieu flowers, memorials to St. Paul's Anglican Church, Lachine, Quebec. LAMB, Daisy 1921 - 2008 The family of Daisy Lamb sadly announces her passing at the Carewest Sarcee on July 16, 2008 at the age of 87 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Andrew Lamb of Surrey, BC, Raymond Lamb and Chris (Glenn) Irving both of Calgary; and her grandchildren, Michelle Irving, Rayleen Muraski-Lamb, and Brittany Muraski-Lamb all of Calgary. LINDEWALL, Veikko Veikko Lindewall passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2008 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. He is predeceased by his wife Eila of thirty-three years who passed away on August 9, 2000. He will be greatly missed by his son Jukka and family, and son Jari and family, and predeceased daughter Masi's family. Veikko will also be missed by the many friends who have come to love him through the years. Veikko began his life on April 16, 1936 and spent his early years in Lahti, Finland before coming to Canada. Veikko was always helpful to those in need, always offering support. His philosophy of life and very special sense of humour made our days brighter. He was highly respected by everyone who knew him. A celebration of Veikko's life will be held at The Scandinavian Centre in Calgary (739 - 20 Avenue N.W.) on Sunday, July 27 from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to be made for a memorial bench through the Friends of Kananaskis Country ( www.kananaskis.org ). The Honourable Mr. Justice Paul Greer Marsh Hermiston November 3rd 1939-July 16th 2008 Paul in his 68th year, passed away peacefully at RVH with his family at his side on Wednesday July 16th. He courageously battled a lengthy illness with unwavering dignity and humour until a recent pneumonia overcame him. Paul will be lovingly missed by his best friend and wife, Holly. Paul's daughter, Greer, and son, Ben, will remember him as a warm, loving father who gave them the gift of strong family and personal values. He taught them to live day to day with passion, purpose and a sense of humour. Paul's grandchildren, Kent and Reeve will miss their Papa dearly. GILLESPIE, John (Jack) - On Friday July 18th, 2008, Jack Gillespie, 88 years of age. Beloved husband of Betty Gillespie for 62 years. Loving father of Jack and his wife Karen, Welland, and the late Tom. Dear grandfather of 5, especially missed by Meghan and Emily. Predeceased by his parents Mary and Thomas Gillespie. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially Bruce Astle and Jacquie Johnson. Jack was born in Ireland and came to Vancouver and Kimberly B.C., then to Niagara Falls in 1941. He served overseas in WWII with the B.C. Regiment D.C.O.R. and 6th Canadian Armoured Regiment (1St Hussars) in England and North Western Europe. After his return in December of 1945, he worked for Kimberly Clark for 13 years, and then for GM for 20 years, retiring as a Security Officer in 1985. Jack was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. No. 51 and St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. KOEHL, Maria (nee Golob) - In loving memory of Rev. Maria Koehl (nee Golob). Born November 5, 1933 in Aichberg, Austria. She died suddenly at the age of 74 on July 10th, 2008 in Oregon on her way back from Mount Shasta, California. Beloved wife of Willi Koehl, mother of Duane Rohne (wife Christine) grandmother to Amanda, Daniel and Thomas from Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. She is survived by her brother and one nephew who reside in Austria. Maria's life was one of spiritual fellowship, healing and teaching. She was an ordained Interfaith Minister with the Spiritual Science Fellowship organization in Montreal. She was also an Ordained Priest with the Order of Melchizedeck, Sanctuary of the Beloved. She had a Bachelor of Therapeutic Counselling from the Open International University for Complimentary Medicines of Columbus, Sri Lanka. Maria was an avid traveller and had made several pilgrimages to various countries in the world. She owned her business “Soul Searching Quest“ and offered workshops and counselling services to the Sudbury Community. She touched the lives of many friends and students. A memorial service will be held in her honour on Thursday, July 24th, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at Fielding Memorial Park on Fielding Road in Lively. There is no visitation prior to the service. 11169886

EVANS, James “William” The death occurred peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home on Thursday, July 17, 2008, of Billy Evans of North Rustico, age 69 years. Billy was the beloved husband of Margaret (nee Gallant); loving father of Jimmy, Toronto; Danny, Charlottetown; Jeff (Shirley), Vancouver and Donnie, Toronto; and grandfather of Melissa. He is survived by his sisters, Lyda, Charlottetown and Betty (Don) McTague, Fort Augustus; brothers, Richard, Toronto, Lloyd (Linda), Mt. Herbert, and Percy (Anna), Toronto; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold (Janet) Gallant, Audrey (James) Gallant and Delma (Dale) Whitlock, all of North Rustico; and aunt, Lily Fairweather, Ottawa. Billy was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Margaret Evans. Resting at the McNeill Room of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, for visitation on Sunday, July 20, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, July 21, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. Interment in the church cemetery.
