WEAVER, Sidney John - Peacefully at his residence on July 13, 2008 in his 84th year. He leaves behind his lovingly devoted wife Rose (Nagy) Weaver of Port Colborne, sons Tim (Holly) Weaver of Calgary, Alberta and Pat (Sonya) Weaver of Fort Erie. Loving grandfather to Jillian (Dr. Paul) Niemezewski, Timothy and Zachary Weaver of Calgary, Alberta, Miranda and Brent Weaver of Fort Erie, He will be missed by sister-in-law Colleen Weaver of Welland and many nieces and nephews. Sidney was predeceased by his parents Dorvan and Marie, brother Howard and sisters Betty and Nellie. Sidney John Weaver was born in Port Colborne November 8, 1924. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Air Gunner in Europe from 1943-1945. He worked at INCO for over 40 years retiring in 1984. Sid was also a member of many organizations over his 84 years, which included, Eastside Athletics Club, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, Legion Branch #56 and the Columbus Club. MACKINNON, Glen Wallace - passed comfortably at home on July 12th, 2008 in the care of his family. Glen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley; children, Joan Paterson (Greg) of Nanaimo, Ken (Claudette) of Barrie, Ontario, Gordon (Catie Racioppa) of Nanaimo and Kathleen Wallace of Kelowna; and eleven grandchildren, Jaimie, Cameron and Bradley Paterson Ashlee Tarabawka; Ryan and Travis Sandos; Lucas and Megan Mackinnon, Kendra Norwood; and Joanne Fleming and Stephen Fuhr; and one great grandson, Justin Fuhr of Victoria. Since retiring from construction in Nanaimo, Glen devoted his time and energy to serving others, being most active in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 257 in Lantzville. He received the Queen's Jubilee Medal for his service in the Legion as well as being given a life membership. Glen also served as a member of the Citizens' Council on Electoral Reform in BC. Dad will be most missed for his words of wit and wisdom around the campfire, pool table or wherever he may be . . . McQUILKIN, Jack Campbell - succumbed peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2008 at the Welland Hospital at the age of 82. Jack was an avid sportsman and had a particular interest in golf and fishing. He was proud to serve overseas for his country in the Canadian Forces during WWII. So many people will miss his charming mannerisms, especially his wife of over 57 years, Marcienne (Levesque), his children Mark, Cheryl McQuilkin, Avril Dadds (Clive), Nancy McQuilkin, and his grandchildren Vanessa, Jonathon and Matthew. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews. Mr. McQuilkin was predeceased by his brother Tom, and his sisters Peggy Byspalko, Grace McQuilkin and Georgina McQuilkin. Cremation has taken place. MOORE, JOAN I. - The death of Joan Moore formerly of Kennebecasis Dr., Millidgeville, NB, wife of the late Harold Moore, occurred on Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre in Hampton, NB. Born in Coventry, England, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ethel West. Joan served in the Women's Land Army during World War II, married Sgt. Harold Moore in 1943 and immigrated to Canada as a War Bride in 1945. She was a member of the Canadian War Brides Association, the Royal Canadian Legion and St. Luke's Anglican Church, Saint John, NB. She was a devoted wife and mother and a delightful grandmother; her lovely smile and gentle charm will be greatly missed. She is survived by son, David of Toronto, ON; daughter, Christine (Michael) Keddy of Eastern Passage, NS; grandson, Stephen Keddy of Halifax, NS; brother, Stanley West, several nieces and nephews, all of Coventry. Besides her husband, Harold, she was predeceased by a brother, David of Coventry. Eugene H. Tower (Junior) 1944 - 2008 Sackville, N.B.- Eugene (Junior) Tower, age 64, of Frosty Hollow, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Sackville, N.B. on July 12, 1944, he was the son of the late Eugene and May (Briggs) Tower of Rockport, N.B. Eugene worked in construction most of his life, later going into the logging business. He loved being with his family and friends, fishing, hunting and going to bingo. Eugene will be sadly missed by his wife of 40 years, Barbara (Arseneault); his four sons, Daniel (Eva), Rodney (Katie), Wade (Jennifer) and Jason (Arlene); seven grandchildren, Joseph, Kyle, Nathan, Emily, Lindsey, Daniel and Andrew, all of whom he adored; sister Pat (Pansy)(Marvin) Goodwin of Hamilton, Ont.; brother Gaius of Hamilton, Ont.; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and his special friend Baxter. MUNZ, Gwen 2008-07-15 1941-2008 It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that this announcement be made of the passing of Gwen Munz, on July 5, 2008, at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 67. She is survived by her two sons Marc (Emma) Shwaluk and Douglas Shwaluk; grandchildren Jessica, Vanessa, and Nicole Shwaluk; brother Clayton Munz; nieces Robin Couronne and Melody Munz; also many relatives and friends. Gwen is predeceased by her mother Evelyn Golfman (Joeseph Golfman), and father Frederick Munz. Gwen worked for many years as a nurse at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. Gwen had great compassion for her clients and always made time for her friends and neighbours over a cup of coffee. Though not retired, she had time for the many enjoyments in her life. She enjoyed gardening and doing various projects at her house. She loved fishing and camping with her friends and family in Thunder Bay. Also, much happiness was brought to her through her love for her dogs. Gwen was a woman who lived her life to the fullest with the biggest spirit. LAWRENCE, Frances 2008-07-15 1908 - 2008 After a brief illness, Frances Lawrence passed away at Pioneer Ridge on July 14, just two months before her 100th birthday. Born in 1908 on Manitoulin Island, Frances Letitia Irwin moved with her family to Fort William while still a young girl. They settled in Westfort, where she later met and married Charles Lawrence. Together they raised their four children. Frances was a member of St. Thomas’ Anglican Church all her life, and she actively served there until her later years. Her life was built around her faith and her family, and these two things determined all of her life’s decisions. She will be remembered for her loving heart, sweet disposition, and her gracious spirit. Frances was predeceased by her husband Charles and her son Charles. Survived by three daughters; June Chaplin, Bunnie Lawrence, and Sharron (John) Forshaw. Also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In keeping with her wish for simplicity, a private family service will take place, conducted by Archdeacon Andrew Hoskin of St. Thomas’ Anglican Church. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. JONES, RONALD R. - (78); passed away at his residence at North Head Grand Manan Island Monday July 14, 2008. Born at Grand Harbour he was the son of the late Robert and Estella (Green) Jones. Ronnie as he was known by his many friends served his community as a Village Councilor in North Head, worked as a fisherman, operated heavy equipment, drove tractor trailers, and later in his working life was an agent for a courier service on Grand Manan Island until his failing health could no longer allow him to work. For many years he could often be seen sitting in the early evening in front of his home enjoying the company of his family and would greet passers by with big smile and wave and could always make time for a visit for anyone who wanted to stay awhile. He will always be remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him. Survived by his wife Mary (Lambert), and his five daughters; Judith Dow (Rodney), Vicki, Rhonda Boynton (Kevin), Angela, and Linda Markee (James) all of Grand Manan Island. One brother Harvard (Glenna) of Fredericton, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one grand child Brayden Markee. Bridgitte Leger (Bridgie) Bridgitte Leger 96, wife of the late Joseph Leger passed away peacefully at her home with family at her side. Born St. Charles, N.B. May 30, 1912 she was the daughter of the late John and Bridgitte Daigle. Mother of Kenneth (Chris) late Florence Bertolo, late Bernard (Bernie) Leger. Grandchildren Rhonda Hughes (Wade) Steve Leger, Mike Leger, Tina Bertolo (Dave), Anthony Bertolo and Vickie Jackson (Dave). Great grandchildren, Avery, Jordan, Haley and Cade. Bridgitte is predeceased by three sisters, Jeanne (late Andrew) Ferrari, Aline (late Emile) Robichaud, Suzanne (late Antoine) Daigle and seven brothers, Alyre, Arthur, Pascal, Alex, Isaie, Josephat and John - Baptiste. Eudore Cyr 1928 - 2008 Shediac Bridge, NB. Eudore Cyr, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 13th at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in St-Quentin on August 4th, 1928, he was the son of the late Pierre Cyr and the late Régina Francoeur. Eudore is survived by his loving wife Ghislaine (Isabelle) Cyr; one daughter, Julie Murray (Stephen) of Shediac; one son, Daniel Cyr of Notre-Dame de Kent; two sisters, Aline Cyr of Montreal, Eva Gagnon of Jonquière, QC; one brother, Edgar Cyr (late Thérèse) of St-Quentin; four grandchildren, Isabelle, Lisa, Jessica, Jenny; several nieces, nephews, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers. Lilian Maude Chapman 93, Dartmouth - It is with deep sadness but enduring fondness we announce the sudden passing of our mother Lilian on July 12th while at her cottage in Tidnish. Daughter of the late Benjamin and Maude Atkinson, she is survived by her four children: Jacqueline (Frank Gallagher) of Winnipeg, Joan (Robert MacInnis) of Riverview, Katherine of Dartmouth and Paul (Michele) of St. Margaret's Bay; her sister Rachel Boland and nephew Ian Maclean (Marjorie). She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kevin Gallagher, Trevor (Corynne), Robert and Bradley MacInnis, Jessica, Stefanie, Shannon and Rachel Chapman, great granddaughter Breanne Gallagher and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Jack Gordon and her sister Alma Maclean. For many years, Lil enjoyed winter afternoons with her Dartmouth bridge pals. But for 59 summers, her favourite times have been spent at her cottage on the Northumberland Strait, surrounded by family, friends and fellow members of the Rinkydinks. Her loves were her family, her piano, playing bridge and gardening and she enjoyed all right to the end. In her last week of life she picked strawberries, made four batches of Nannie jam, baked rolls, made chowder and composed a new theme song for Hockey Night in Canada! It could only have been better if she'd had a chance to bid and make a 7 No Trump hand. A celebration of Lilian's life will take place Monday July 21 at Trinity St. Stephen's United Church at 1 Ratchford Street in Amherst at 1:00 p.m., with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to a healthcare charity of your choice.

GREGER, Irmgard (Maxi). Wife and best friend of Helmut Greger passed away at the Jewish General Hospital on July 12, 2008. She is mourned by her husband and her many friends in Canada, the US and Germany. Maxi will also be sorely missed by the Lake St Louis sailing fraternity and those who frequent Finnigan's market in Hudson.
