Linda Lebel 1938-2008 À l’Hôpital Général de Grand-Sault, le lundi 14 juillet 2008, à l’âge de 69 ans, est décédée Linda Lagacé, épouse d’Arthur Lebel, domiciliée au Manoir de Grand-Sault, mais autrefois de Saint-André, chemin Després. Née à Grand-Sault en 1938, elle était fille de feu Albert Lagacé et de feu Agathe Beaulieu. Outre son époux, elle laisse dans le deuil un fils, Lee Lebel (Danielle) de Grand-Sault, quatre filles, Lynn (Jacques Emond) de Saint-Joseph-de-Madawaska, Lina (Kevin Akerley) de Grand-Sault, Lise (Brian Theriault) de Woodstock et Lola (Mark Madore) de Saint-Jacques, neuf petits-enfants, Ricky, Emilie, Dominique, Christine, Lee-Ann, Kayla, Katelyn, Corey et Brandon, un frère, Georges Lagacé (Mariette) de Saint John, ainsi que des neveux et nièces. Elle a été précédée par trois soeurs, Elsie, Velma et Marie-Mai. La dépouille mortelle est exposée au salon Guy O’Regan, 515, boul. Everard Daigle à Grand-Sault. Ses funérailles auront lieu le jeudi 17 juillet à 16h en l’église de la paroisse Saint-Georges de Grand-Sault, et l’inhumation au cimetière paroissial. Les heures des visites seront le mercredi de 19h à 21h, et le jeudi de 14h jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles. BANKS, OLIVE FAYE - Olive F. Banks of Harvey Station, NB passed away July 11, 2008 at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton. Born at Upper Highland, Carleton County, NB in 1922, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lucy (Sayles) Guthrie. Olive was a community minded person with a great love for her family. She is survived by two daughters, Mavis Banks-Carr (Lowell), Oromocto, NB and their children, Keith Moffitt (Nicole), Sabrina Noble (Eric) and Becky Harris (Joel) and Dawn Elaine Corscadden (Gary), Quispamsis, NB and their children, Angela Corscadden (Richard), Shelly Donahue (Bill) and Michael Corscadden (Kelly); a son, Thomas Banks (Jane), New Maryland, NB and their children, Holly Hudson (Mike), Courtney Atkinson (Jennifer) and Carmen Atkinson (Robert); great grandchildren, Sam, Max, Abby, Tricia, Noah, Sean, Scott, Sarah, Delayne, Wylie, Cody, Taylor, Claire and Cate; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Olive was predeceased by her husband, Vaughan Banks in 1976; a sister, Velma Griffith; a brother, Claude Guthrie; and a great granddaughter, Emily Joy Elizabeth Noble. WILLIAMSON, MARION E. - Marion E. Williamson, 84, of K.E. Spencer Memorial Home Moncton, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday July 11, 2008. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Keith and Elizabeth (Gordon) Grant. Marion attended St. James Anglican Church, she enjoyed reading, travelling, spending time at the cottage on Grand Lake and first and foremost she enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. She was actively involved federally and provincially with the Progressive Conservative Party holding several key positions over the years. Marion will be sadly missed by her son, Keith Williamson, Seattle, WA; close family friend, William Calarese, Seattle, WA; brother, Leslie Grant, Brampton, ON; sister in law, Berdie Darrah, Chipman; one niece, Janice Darrah; one nephew, Stephen Darrah; In addition to her parents, predeceased by husband, Ronald P. Marsha Ann Gaynes Marsha Ann aged 46 years of Queen Street, Dartmouth, N.S., passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at her residence. Born in Moncton, N.B., she was a daughter of Alice Dow of Moncton and the Late Lawrence Gaynes. Marsha enjoyed her cats, tending to her plants, and spending time with her family and her friends. Besides her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Melissa Hilchey of Ottawa, Ont. Fiance, James Cordeau of Dartmouth. Sisters, Bernadette Gaynes of Dartmouth and Lorna Gaynes of London, Ont. Paternal grandmother, Dorothy Gaynes of Moncton. Two grandchildren, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitations will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Monday, July 14, 2008 in A.H. DYKEMAN, JENNETTE MARUERITE - The death of Jennette Marguerite Dykeman of Minto, NB occurred Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the WG Bishop Nursing Home at the age of 92. Born in North Clones, Queens Co. NB, she was the daughter of the late Alwood and Margaret (Armstrong) Dunn. Jennette was a loving and generous wife, mother and mother in law, she taught school in various parts of New Brunswick, moving to Minto in 1942 where she taught school until retirement. She was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Minto and a faithful member of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church. Survived by her daughter, Margaret (Joanne) Nicholson and son in law, (Larry) of Minto, NB; great niece, Vanessa Dunn of Sussex; great nephews, Matthew Dunn of Sussex, Phillip Dunn of Alberta; great great nephews, Tyler McFarlane and Wyatt Matthew Dunn of Sussex; great great niece, Julie Dawn Dunn of Alberta. CUMMINGS, RICHARD ANTHONY - The death of Rick Cummings of Lakeside, NB, formerly of Quispamsis, husband of Karen (Baird) Cummings, occurred on Saturday, July 12th, 2008, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Ronald and Marie (Brand) Cummings. Rick worked for Irving Pulp for 36 years, retiring in 2007. Besides his wife, Karen, Rick is survived by two sons, Matthew and Nicholas, both at home; one sister, Sharon McGillivray (Ken) of Hamilton, ON; one brother, Bob Cummings of Quispamsis; one sister-in-law, Sandra McCluskey (Wayne) of Rothesay; one niece, Sherry Power, three nephews, Jason Chamberlain, Josh and Justin Cummings; one great-niece, Ashley Power; as well as, several other nieces and nephews. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. Robert Dudley Cotton 1947 - 2008 Passed away peacefully July 12th, 2008 after a brief & heroic battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents, Ernest & Helen (Aiton) Cotton. Bob is survived by his sister, Kathryn (Mark) LeBlanc; nephew Brett (Wendy) LeBlanc & their children, Kai & Ayla, whom he enjoyed very much. Bob was an inspiration to all in his valiant acceptance of his disease, his continued sense of humor to the end, and his resolve (in his words) "to struggle on and see what happens". He will be sadly missed by those whose lives he touched. According to his wishes, cremation will take place without visitation and with interment at Pioneer Cemetery, Penobsquis, NB. Lois Humes 1927 - 2008 Lois Humes of Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at age 81 years. Born in New Glasgow, NS on March 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Leo J. and Zita (Martin) Cormier. She was a member of St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church and a member of the CWL of St. Augustines. She is survived by son, Robert "Bob" Humes (Joan) of St. John's, Newfoundland; grandchildren, Carla Humes (Rod Power) and Dr. Trevor Humes (Petrina) both of Newfoundland; five great-grandchildren; sisters Joyce Mann of Bathurst, NB, Ann Legere of Portland, Maine, Joan Trites (Len) of Ottawa, Ontario; also by several nieces and nephews. Lois was predeceased by her husband, Ronald "Ron" Humes in 1998; and daughter, Sandra Humes in 2005. Visitation will be held at Tuttle Bros. Funeral home on Monday, July 14th, 2008 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Evelyn Smith Evelyn May Smith, 91, of the Jordan Lifecare Center and formerly Salisbury passed away peacefully on Saturday July 12, 2008 at her residence. Born in Salisbury she was the wife of the late Earle F. Smith and the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary (Bleakney) Campbell. Evelyn spent most of her life giving her time and talents to help make her community a better place. She assisted at monthly Public Health Baby Clinics for 39 years; volunteered at the Public Library; served as President and Secretary of the former Salisbury Women's Institute; was a former board member and secretary of Pine Hill Cemetery Inc. and a member of the Westmorland Co. Children's Aid Society for many years. She was also Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary Canadian Legion Branch # 31; helped to organize the Salisbury Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society and was Campaign Chairperson for Salisbury and surrounding area for 40 years and was also the Memorial Chairperson. She served as Clerk-Treasurer for the Salisbury Local Improvement District and Incorporated Village for 25 years. In 1977 she received the Governor-General's Medal for Community Service and was honoured by the Village of Salisbury for 45 years of Community Service in 1989. She will be sadly missed by her son, Rand (Carolyn); grandchildren, Shelley Jones (Edward), Christine Smith all of Salisbury and Scott (Kelly) of Lower Coverdale; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived also by sisters, Grace Grills, Belleville On., Veta Westcott (Gene), Havelock On., Jean Gourley (Ernest), River Glade, Joyce Prosser , Salisbury; brothers, John Campbell (Kaye), Sussex, Jerry Campbell (Diane), River Glade. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Earle; sisters, Madeline Crandall, Marguerite Aylward, Geraldine Cormier; brother, Robert Campbell. AUMOND, Gilles President of CUPE Local 870, 1964-74 Retired from the Perley Hospital after 31.5 years Peacefully at home, Friday, July 11th, in his 72nd year. Devoted spouse of the late Delta Windsor. Loving stepfather to Sharon Smith (Tom). Cherished grandfather to Laurie, Steven, Tracey, Tammie and several great-grandchildren. Much loved nephew of Theresa Connolly. Remembered by brothers, Bernard and Jean Pierre. Will be missed by Cricket. Gilles will always be remembered as a family man. He had a heart of gold, his generous, thoughtful ways were an inspiration to us all. He chose to live every day with integrity and kindness. He enriched our lives and we are very grateful for him. CORNEY, Wayne Dennis Wayne Dennis Corney, of Winnipeg Manitoba, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on Friday, July 11th, 2008 at the age of 59 due to complications from cancer. He was surrounded by his daughter Catherine, son Christopher, and nieces Christine Rasmussen and Faith Litowsky. Wayne was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba on December 13th, 1948 to his father Dennis Orville Corney and mother Alfreda Faye Corney (nee Brough). Wayne was predeceased by his wife Alice Beverley Corney (previously Zdrill, nee Kulman), who also recently passed away due to complications from cancer. He is survived by his daughter Catherine Victoria Grubber of Toronto, Ontario, son Christopher Dennis Wayne Corney of Seattle, Washington, his step-daughters Malinda Ann Zdrill and Tracy Lee Clara Zdrill of Winnipeg, Manitoba and his grandchildren, A.J. Grubber of London, Ontario, and Patrick and Cassandra Grubber of Thorold, Ontario. He proudly served the government of Canada for more than 35 years. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1966. During his 22 years of service as a Military Policeman he was posted to Calgary, Alberta; Lahr, Germany; Ottawa, Ontario; North Bay, Ontario; and Winnipeg, Manitoba. He also had two tours with United Nations peacekeeping forces in Cypress. After his military service, he worked at the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg, and finally, Transport Canada, also in Winnipeg, before his cancer prevented him from working. A service will be held at the Cropo Funeral Home located at 1442 Main St., Winnipeg Manitoba at 2pm on Thursday, July 17th, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. GORLICK, Paul Blair On July 8, 2008, Paul Blair Gorlick passed away peacefully at Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, New Brunswick. Born in 1928 the son of the late James Gorlick and Helen Cogswell Gorlick, Paul was predeceased by his wife Phyllis, his sister Mary Nelson, brothers, Carl, Neil and William and step-sister, Genevieve Case. He is survived by his beloved companion, Jean Stairs; sons Alan from Toronto and Ian (Alison) from Ottawa. Paul is also survived by his brother Lawrence (Ruth) Gorlick of Fredericton and several nieces and nephews. Paul graduated from the University of New Brunswick and the Maritime School of Social Work, Dalhousie University where he received his Masters of Social Work degree. In the 1950s, Paul embarked on a life long passion for the Canadian Arctic as one of the federal government community development officers located in the Mackenzie Valley, Eastern Arctic, Churchill (Manitoba) and Ottawa (Ontario). A keen historian he attended the North American Fur Trade Conferences, enjoyed political discussions, keeping in touch with the old Northern hands, cooking, fishing, canoeing and camping. Paul was a wonderful storyteller and left us with many fond memories. By Paul's request there will be no funeral home visiting or service. MAKLAN, Irving. 1922-2008. Peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, July 13, 2008. Beloved husband and close companion for 63 years of Sheila Sapera Maklan. HOWIE, Don 1943 - 2008 Donald John Howie, beloved husband of Lynda, passed away July 9, 2008 at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife Lynda and his four children: Glenda (Steve) Cabelka, Bentley, AB; Jeff (Lorna) Howie, Calgary; Shannon (Steve) Laycraft, Okotoks; and John (Melanie) Howie, Calgary. Bumpa is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Dawn, Justin, Chad, Zack, Tate, Paula and Alex. Don was predeceased by his sister Betty Howie. Don was born on April 3, 1943. He lived most of his life in High River where he worked in the agriculture industry and cultivated many friends. He was a committed family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and, especially, his grandchildren. We will dearly miss his humor, wisdom and zest for life. BARBISAN, Mark Anthony 2008-07-14 It is with heavy hearts the family of Mark Anthony Barbisan announce his passing on Saturday, July 12, 2008 with his mom and brother at his side. Mark was born on September 3, 1961. Mark fought a battle that not many can comprehend. Unfortunately, he was not the victor. Mark will be remembered for his love of music, his self taught talent playing his guitar, also his artistic talent and not to leave out his auto and bike painting. He took great pride in his work. He was predeceased by his father Mark on June 13, 1975, his son Tyler on July 23, 2000, brother-in-law John Farinas on October 13, 2006, who all shared a great love of music. Mark is survived by his son Mark whom he was so very proud of, his mother Lily, brother Sam (Bonnie), sister Linda, Holden Louisiana, Lora Barbisan, nephew and great nephew Ron and Sam Garon, girlfriend Bobbie Washington, uncles David (Shaliegh) Phillips, Eddie (Irene) Phillips, cousin Walter (Donna) Phillips and many other relatives also survive. Mark had a handful of close childhood friends, Jerry L., Lenny, Randy, Jerry O,. Henry and Laing; you all meant so much to him. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 11:00am in the Blake Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Keith Bunn officiating. Services will be complete in the chapel and final interment will take place at a later date. LEITCH, Robert Orville February 8, 1924 - July 12, 2008 Robert O. Leitch, beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" Leitch of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the age of 84 years. Bob was born in Fergus Falls, MN. He served in the Canadian Air Force as a Warrant Officer (W.A.G.) in the Second World War. Bob was the Director of the Land Department for the city of Calgary for twenty-two years. He was also a member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada serving for two consecutive terms as President. In addition he was a Fellow of the American Right of Way. R.O. spent many years volunteering with various organizations including thirty-five years with the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede in the capacity of Senior Associate and Shareholder. Bob will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman. Besides his beloved wife Peggy, Bob is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Maurice McAtamney; son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Catherine Leitch; grandfather to Michael (Nadine), Erin and Brina Moriarty; and great-grandfather to Evie. Bob was predeceased by his daughter Leanne. COADY, ANTHONY "TONY" Surrounded by his loving family Anthony "Tony" Coady, passed away at home on Friday July 11, 2008 at 10:00 p.m. Born on July 15, 1934 in Bar Haven Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Byrne) Tony was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. A loyal follower of Christ all his life, he was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. Tony is survived by the love of his life for 51 years wife Alice, and children Tony (Ann Marie), Debbie (Mark), Bernadine (Kevin), Michael (Dixi), Roxanne (Brad), John (Kerrie) and Mary; grandchildren Matthew, Zachary, Tyler, Nicholas, Gregory, Evan, Patrick, Jamie, Drew, and Coady; brother Mike, and sisters Addie and Mary. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by infant son Joseph, infant brother, Stephen, and brothers, Thomas, and Patrick. Tony was a firefighter with Transport Canada, and advanced to the level of Atlantic Regional Supervisor prior to his retirement in 1991. Over the years, he enjoyed woodworking, and when he retired, turned his hobby into a business - Tony's Woodworking. He and Alice could be seen at the Boyce Farmers Market on Saturday morning selling his designs. He was an enthusiastic fan of his grandchildren's activities, and spent many hours in the hockey rink watching them play. The family will receive visitors at his home at 979 Forest Hill Road in Fredericton on Monday, July 14th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Tony's life will take place on Tuesday, July 15th at 12:00 p.m. at St. Dunstan's Catholic Church, Brunswick Street Fredericton N.B. RYBKA, Penelope J. Sixty, of Hershey, PA and formerly of Montreal, passed away on Friday July 11, 2008 at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. She was the wife of Dr. Witold B. Rybka, and on December 20th, they would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary. Born on February 11, 1948, she was the daughter of Alice Ross Munro of Victoria, B.C. and the late Roderick Munro. She had worked as a lab technician in Montreal and as an EMT in Pittsburgh. She loved playing bridge. She was beloved and will be missed by her many friends in Montreal (Woodlands), Toronto (Cawaja Beach), Pittsburgh and Hershey. In addition to her husband and her mother, she is survived by her son Marek W. Rybka, husband of Laura Rybka, of Chesterbrook, PA and Lt. Jan A. Rybka, USCG, of Oakland, CA; brothers Roderick Munro of Seeleys Bay, Ont. Canada and Ross Munro of Miami, Fl; granddaughter Zofia E. Earle C. Archer 1928-2008 Earle Clayton Archer, of Highfield St., Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at the age of 79. Born in Wyandotte, Michigan, USA, on July 18, 1928, he was the son of the late Sidney and Lou (Manderson) Archer. He was a member of Knox United Church, Loggieville, Miramichi. He is survived by one sister, M. Ruth Archer, of Miramichi as well as several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Lou Archer. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Friday. The funeral service was held from Knox United Church, on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire-MacKnight. The music for the service was provided by Mrs. Janet Stothart. The congreational hymn was "O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go" and the recessional hymn was "Safe In The Arms of Jesus". A duet was offered by Beth Mark, and Shelly MacKeigan, "He's Not Heavy, He's My Brother", accompanied by Mrs. Queenie MacKeigan. The honorary pallbearers were Brian MacDougall, Earle MacDonald, Frank Williston, Peter MacLean, Donald Lobban, Bert Godfrey, Jim MacDonald. GILBERT, REGINALD DEVEBER - The death of Reginald Gilbert occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on July 12, 2008. Born July 8, 1913 in the Village of Gagetown to the late Thomas and Ethel (Law) Gilbert. Reg was the husband of the late Margaret (McMullen) Gilbert and father to Nancy Gilbert of Fredericton, NB. Reginald was New Brunswick's Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development from 1957 - 1973. As Deputy Minister Mr. Gilbert constantly strove to upgrade agricultural facilities. During the 1960s he provided strong leadership in developing policies and programs under the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Development Act and the Fund for Rural Economic Development. He was also concerned with the establishment of good marketing procedures and secondary agricultural industries. From 1960-1983 Mr. Gilbert was Chairman of the Natural Products Control Board, now the Farm Products Marketing Commission, which is responsible for the operation of marketing boards in New Brunswick. He also played a very important role in developing a large fruit and vegetable processing industry in New Brunswick. Mr. Gilbert was also active on the national front. He was one of the organizers of the first conference of federal and provincial Ministries and Deputy Ministers of Agriculture in Canada in 1950. These meetings have continued on an annual basis. Mr. Gilbert has been honoured many times for his service to agriculture. In 1974 he was made an Honorary Associate of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. He was awarded the Centennial Medal in 1967, made a Fellow of the Agricultural Institute of Canada in 1976 and was a recipient of the Queen's Twenty-fifth Anniversary medal in 1977. He is a Past President of the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame Association and in 1982 was inducted into the Atlantic Agricultural Hall of Fame in Truro, Nova Scotia. In 1984 he was inducted into the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame in Toronto. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 at 1:00 PM with The Ven. John Sharpe officiating. OGILVIE, Beryl P. The death of Beryl Patricia Ogilvie occurred at the Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex, July 12, 2008, at the age of 90. Born in Doaktown, N.B., a daughter of the late Michael and Edith (Holmes) MacCormick. Beryl worked at the Victoria Public Hospital in admitting and as a ward clerk, the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital as an X-ray transcriptionist, as well as four years working with World Vision as a correspondent between adopting families. She is survived by her daughters: Joanne Russell (Ron) of Dartmouth and Patricia Gaunce of Hartland; her son Fred Ogilvie (Evelyn) of New Maryland; grandchildren: Melody Russell, Angela Oatway (Jason), Andrew Russell, Connie Ogilvie, Steven Ogilvie (Tammy), Tony Gaunce (Barb) and Michelle McPhail (Jack), eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Beryl was predeceased by her husband Ross Ogilvie who passed away in 1982, infant son Jackie; sisters Phyllis MacGarvie, June Amos and Norma MacCallum, brother Holmes MacCormick, niece “Babs” MacGarvie and nephew Steven MacGarvie.
