Loving father of Christine Applejohn (Michael) of Sault Ste. Marie, Bonnie (Brent) of Nanaimo, B.C., the late Allen (Judy) and the late Geri and daughter in law Irma. Proud grandfather of Darren and Andrew (Stacey) Applejohn, Mathew, Lindsay and Scott Doupe, Christopher Doupe, Debbie Madison and Connie-lynn McAdam. Great grandfather of 4. Dear brother of Laura Hobbs (Walter), Stewart Doupe (Eva) of New Liskeard, the late Rhena Pentland (late Ben) and the late Velma Elliott (late Earl). Special friend of Lilliam Lawrence of Kirkland Lake and Win Couchman of Sault Ste. Marie. Lloyd will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in the New Liskeard area, Lloyd served overseas in the RCAF during WWII and lived for 40 years in Kirkland Lake after his return. At Dad's request, there will be no funeral services. KELLY, DR. RONALD BURGER, B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc., Ph.D. (UNB) - The death of Dr. Ronald B. Kelly of Saint John West, husband of the late Leslie (Drubé) Kelly, occurred on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at the Ridgewood Veteran's Centre. Born at Fairvale, he was a son of the late Walter and Bessie (Burger) Kelly. Dr. Kelly began his early education in Rothesay, and attended Provincial Normal School after graduating from High School. He taught for two years in the New Brunswick School system, before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 as a Navigator. He continued to serve for the remainder of World War II, being discharged in 1946 with the rank of Flight Lieutenant, and earning five medals and campaign stars. After the war, Dr. Kelly attended the University of New Brunswick, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree (with honours), a Master of Science, and in 1953 obtained his Ph.D. as well. He then studied, as a Beaverbrook Overseas Scholar, at London University in England, and subsequently as a National Research Council Post-doctoral Fellow at Queen's University. Beginning in 1955, he worked as a chemist for both Merck and Co., and the Upjohn Co., before accepting an Associate Professorship at the University of New Brunswick in 1967. Thus began a distinguished career as a Professor and a Research Scientist, which lasted until his retirement in 1985, at which time he was appointed Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at UNB. Dr. Kelly received numerous awards, scholarships, and research grants throughout his lifetime, and was published in several scientific journals. He also held many distinguished positions on several different committees, commissions, and panels, including being a member of the Senate of the University of New Brunswick Saint John Campus. Apart from his life as a scholar and educator, Dr. Kelly was a member of the Miramichi Salmon Association, and a Fellow of the Miramichi Salmon Museum, as well as being a member of the Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre. Anglican by faith, Dr. Kelly and his wife also kept a home in Doaktown, where they enjoyed many comfortable summers. Dr. Kelly is survived by sister, Laura Gorman of Ottawa, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Wallace and Kenneth. Although there will be no visitation time, relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service which will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew's Anglican Cemetery, Doaktown. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. LEICHT, Darcy Mitchell - April 12, 1963 - December 26, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our devoted husband and loving father, Darcy Mitchell Leicht on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the age of 44 years. Darcy grew up on a farm in central Alberta. He moved to Calgary in the late 1980's, where he met and married Debbie. Together they established a business as owner/operator/bakers with Gramma Lee's Bakery in Midnapore Mall. Upon the closure of the bakery, Darcy started work with ATS Transportation where he was employed until his passing. During the years of raising their children, Darcy enjoyed coaching and participating with Jacob in the Midnapore Hockey Association and coaching softball with his daughter Kamilah in the Cal-South Softball league. He enjoyed the many weekends camping at McLean Creek with family and friends, along with the occasional softball and golf game. Darcy also had a great love of the Calgary Flames. Darcy is survived by his adored wife of nineteen years Debbie and two beautiful children Jacob and Kamilah. He will be remembered by his Gramma Tolley Kromm; brothers Rick (Pat) and Bill; sister Leeanne (Niel); mother-in-law Sophie Clark and numerous relatives and friends. MacINNIS, John (Jay) - 55, passed away July 2, 2008, after a long battle with cancer in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, Dianne, and his two daughters, Amber (Travis) VanVoris and Sherry (Erick) MacInnis, and one son, Lee-Jay, all of Oklahoma, and his first wife Darleen Carthen of Texas. He is also survived by one grandson, Morgan Scott, and three granddaughters, Ginger MacInnis-Pierce, Eva Rose VanVoris, and Erycka Pierce, all of Oklahoma. Marie, Terry was the oldest son of Charlie and Monica Murphy of John Street. When he graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School at the age of 22, Terry became the youngest person in Ontario to be called to the Bar. He served a term as Alderman for the City of Sault Ste. Marie in 1965 and was elected to serve as the Liberal Federal Member of Parliament for the riding of Sault Ste. Marie from 1968 until 1972. During this time, he served on the Justice Committee and also chaired the North Atlantic Assembly, a post that required him to visit all the NATO countries. In 1980 he was appointed as a Judge for the District of Sudbury/Manitoulin, where he sat until his retirement in 2000. In 2005, Terry was honoured to be formally acknowledged by The Advocates' Society, in the book Learned Friends, as one of fifty of the finest advocates practising in Ontario from 1950 to 2000, who exemplified the very highest standards of advocacy and shaped the legal profession in the province. Terry lived life well, with no regrets. He loved his family, music, good wine, good food, stimulating conversation, Dorothy's flower gardens, and the rugged beauty of Northern Ontario. Sr Rita Landry, fma - Le 13 juillet 2008, est décédée au Pavillon Edmée-Martin de Campbellton, Sr Rita Landry, à l’âge de 82 ans et 9 mois et dans sa 62e année de profession religieuse. Elle était fille de feu Édouard Landry et de feu Hélène Normandeau, tous deux de Carleton, QC, mais domiciliés à Balmoral. Outre sa famille religieuse, elle laisse dans le deuil une soeur, Jeannette (conjoint, Germain Lepage) de Sarnia, Ont.; trois belles-soeurs: Joséphine Leclair, Rose-Marie Thériault-Landry et Valéda Boucher-Landry, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces dont elle est demeurée très proche. L’ont précédée dans la tombe dix frères: Lucien, Édouard, Adelard, Wilfred, Adrien, Hervé, Armand, Amédée, Marcel et Raymond, ainsi qu’une soeur, Lucienne. Sr Rita, femme brillante et des plus serviables, a oeuvré 13 ans dans l’enseignement, sept ans comme missionnaire aux Philippines, dix ans en tant que supérieure générale de la Congrégation et dix autres années en tant qu’assistante et secrétaire générale. À tout cela, s’ajoutent quelques années en pastorale paroissiale et diocésaine. Sr Rita a été une personne fondamentalement "heureuse" dans tous les services qu’elle a assumés et elle a partagé avec tous et chacun sa joie de vivre. Femme de foi, d’espérance, elle savait poser un regard réaliste, sage, perspicace et encourageant sur toute situation humaine, agréable ou difficile. Elle a été reconnue pour son dévouement dans l’organisme Développement et Paix. Tout au long de son parcours terrestre, elle a vibré avec compassion à toutes formes de pauvreté; elle a supporté les personnes qui s’engageaient dans ces luttes. Elle nous laisse le souvenir d’une "femme amoureuse de la Vie". La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à partir de 14h, le lundi 14 juillet, à la Première chapelle de la maison mère des Filles de Marie-de-l’Assomption, située au 2, rue Arran, à Campbellton. Une célébration de prières aura lieu en soirée, à 19h30. La messe des funérailles aura lieu au même endroit, le mardi 15 juillet, à 11h. DECKER, Robert "Bob" M. January 6, 1959 - July 10, 2008 With love, sadness, and fond memories we announce the passing of Bob Decker of Calgary on the morning of Thursday, July 10, 2008, at the age of 49 years. Bob passed peacefully and with dignity with his family present. Bob will be dearly missed by his wife and best friend Lyn, and his four daughters, Blair, Martha, Zoe and Kay. They will always remember the special times they shared. Bob met Lyn at Holy Cross High School in Saskatoon, at a dance in Grade 10 and they were together for thirty-four years. Bob will be missed for his outgoing personality, his wit, and keen sense of humour. Bob wanted to be remembered as a person who loved his family, provided for them, and was a fun Dad. We are grateful to have been a part of Bob's life. Bob was born in Saskatoon, SK, the third child of Marg and the late Floyd Decker of Saskatoon, SK, and brother to Lori (Jim), and Ken (Aki). Also to remember Bob are his nephews, Leo, Ivan, Tom, Conrad; niece Esme; and his close friends, Ken Deutscher and Dan Cronin. Bob graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in Mechanical Engineering in 1980 and went on to the University of Alberta to attain his Masters of Science in Petroleum Engineering in 1985. Education and knowledge to Bob, were true gifts and he was a person who loved to learn whether it was engineering, world events, or history. He had a special interest in martial arts and had achieved his black belt in karate (Shotokan). His loves in his life were his family and the challenges as a Petroleum Engineer. Bob's working career had him travel extensively to various parts of the world including the Middle East, Russia, and South East Asia, and took him and his family to Malaysia in 1992. We are grateful to have been part of Bob's life.
