GREEN, Lloyd Gilbert (1922-2008) Navy World War II Veteran Passed away on July 11, 2008 at the age 86 years. Predeceased by his wife Lillian Isabel Toll and his son Lloyd (Claire Nielsen). Father of Bruce (Georgena), Gloria (Scotty), Beverly, David (Katherine), Philip (Joni), Connie Brown and Susan (Jeff). He was the grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He leaves 4 sisters-in-law; Agnes, Evelyn, Maggie (Gilbert) and Rita also survived by many nephews, nieces and numerous friends. MACKAY, Joan Joan passed away at home in Ottawa on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 78 years of age, after a long struggle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Beloved wife and best friend of John Mackay for over 60 years and mother of Alyson McLean (David) and Anne St. Dennis, Joan doted on and adored her grandchildren, Scott and Lindsay McLean, and Cameron and Lesley St. Dennis. Joan will be sorely missed by her family and friends, and in particular her fellow lawn bowlers at the Oak Bay Lawn Club in Victoria, BC. She was also, up until a few years ago, a curling member of the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. Joan loved and excelled at the competitive aspects of curling and lawn bowling and was also very active as an Executive Committee member at both clubs. Even more recently, in the last couple of years, she was a member of the Pacesetter Walking Club at Billings Bridge Shopping Centre. Joan also was a very proactive volunteer for many years with the Ottawa Health Department and was awarded a citation as a volunteer in 1999. At Joan's specific request, there will not be a Funeral or Memorial Service, but friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, July 17th from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 pm. The family are indebted to the staff at CCAC and its selected delegated agencies and would also to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Farncombe and Max at the Palliative Care and Outreach Program for their wonderful help and care. Karey-Anne, a Care For personal support worker, deserves special mention for her absolute dedication. Lilian Maude Chapman 93, Dartmouth - It is with deep sadness but enduring fondness we announce the sudden passing of our mother Lilian on July 12th while at her cottage in Tidnish. Daughter of the late Benjamin and Maude Atkinson, she is survived by her four children: Jacqueline (Frank Gallagher) of Winnipeg, Joan (Robert MacInnis) of Riverview, Katherine of Dartmouth and Paul (Michele) of St. Margaret's Bay; her sister Rachel Boland and nephew Ian Maclean (Marjorie). She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kevin Gallagher, Trevor (Corynne), Robert and Bradley MacInnis, Jessica, Stefanie, Shannon and Rachel Chapman, great granddaughter Breanne Gallagher and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Jack Gordon and her sister Alma Maclean. For many years, Lil enjoyed winter afternoons with her Dartmouth bridge pals. But for 59 summers, her favourite times have been spent at her cottage on the Northumberland Strait, surrounded by family, friends and fellow members of the Rinkydinks. Her loves were her family, her piano, playing bridge and gardening and she enjoyed all right to the end. In her last week of life she picked strawberries, made four batches of Nannie jam, baked rolls, made chowder and composed a new theme song for Hockey Night in Canada! It could only have been better if she'd had a chance to bid and make a 7 No Trump hand. A celebration of Lilian's life will take place Monday July 21 at Trinity St. Stephen's United Church at 1 Ratchford Street in Amherst at 1:00 p.m., with reception to follow. Yvonne inspired all who knew her with her strength and resolve to deal with challenges throughout her life. She was devoted to her loving family especially her precious grandchildren. After he retired, he did some woodworking as a hobby and you can find his famous birdhouses across Canada, in Boston and San Francisco. Gordon loved visiting with his friends and neighbours. His special time was when the children and grandchildren were coming home for the weekend. LINDSTROM, IVY 2008-07-15 LINDSTROM, IVY Mrs. Ivy Lindstrom (Bengtson) age 90 passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2008 at Roseview Manor. Ivy was born in the station house in Ellis Ontario on March 4, 1918. She spent 44 years married to George Lindstrom, who predeceased her on November 28, 1984. Ivy and George built their family home on Kenogami Ave in 1947, where Ivy lived until she was hospitalized in January 2007. Ivy will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her son Bertil Lindstrom (Beth), her step grandson Michael Holmes (Sharon), her sister Fern Kourula, nephews Wayne Kourula (Bonnie), Rod Waisanen (Sue), Dale Trelinski (Josée), Nieces Theresa Altman (Norbert), Karin Kellar (Lorne), Darlene Trelinski (Randal) and numerous great nieces and nephews. Ivy was predeceased by her parents Walter and Theresia Bengtson, her husband George Lindstrom, and infant daughter in 1941 and her sisters Palmie Waisanen and Ruby Trelinski. With respect to mom‘s wishes cremation has taken place and family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life on Monday, July 21, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Oliver Road Rec. Centre.

PROKOP (Calonego), Sylvia 2008-07-15 SYLVIA (CALONEGO) PROKOP Mrs. Sylvia (Calonego) Prokop, age 74, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, July 14, 2008 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Born in Fort William, she spent her early years in Westfort and attended St. Martin‘s School. In her late teens, she started work for Dominion Motors. In 1958, she married Robert Prokop and they moved to Vickers Heights where they raised their family and operated Prokop & Sons Trucking for over 35 years. Sylvia‘s main interests included her family, friends and church. She was especially fond of her grandchildren, Ryan, Stephanie, Taylor and of course “Jake”. Her home, in particular, Seeba‘s kitchen was always open for everyone. She loved to garden and to spend hours with “the gang” and with her card club. In all of these settings, she was known for her classic one-liners. As a woman of deep faith, she attended daily mass at Holy Family Church and St. Anne‘s Mission Church. She was also a member of the CWL of Holy Family Church. Sylvia is survived by her son, George (Edmonton), his children Ryan, Stephanie (Calgary) and Taylor; her son, Gary; and her daughter, Donna Shulman and her husband Willie, along with their four legged son “Jake”. Numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, parents Joe and Stella, brothers Ugo and Kenny, sister Gilda and husband John Giardetti and nephew Russell. Cremation has taken place and Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 in the Holy Family Church on Rosslyn Road at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Rey Ronquillo. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation (Cardiac Fund), the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice. A tree will be planted in memory of Sylvia Prokop in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 28, 2009.

Marsha Ann Gaynes Marsha Ann aged 46 years of Queen Street, Dartmouth, N.S., passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at her residence. Born in Moncton, N.B., she was a daughter of Alice Dow of Moncton and the Late Lawrence Gaynes. Marsha enjoyed her cats, tending to her plants, and spending time with her family and her friends. Besides her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Melissa Hilchey of Ottawa, Ont. Fiance, James Cordeau of Dartmouth. Sisters, Bernadette Gaynes of Dartmouth and Lorna Gaynes of London, Ont. Paternal grandmother, Dorothy Gaynes of Moncton. Two grandchildren, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitations will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Monday, July 14, 2008 in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, from where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 15, with the Dr. Perry Hanley officiating. Burial in the Mapleton Cemetery, Mapleton, Cumb. Beloved husband of Dorothy for 56 years. Dearest and proudest Dad of Sean (Evelyn), Karen Barsanti (Richard), Mary Lynn (Ken Baldwin), Michaela and Timothy. Cherished Grandpa of Marc Barsanti (Angela Marrocco), Jennifer Inglis (Matthew), Ryan, Katie, and Robbie Barsanti, Amelia Murphy-Beaudoin, Eilish, Monica, Eamonn and Michael Murphy. Great-Grandpa of Mackenzie Inglis and Nicole Barsanti. Brother of Patricia Dinsdale (late Bob), the late Bill Murphy (Janet), Monica Pezzutto (Art) and Sally Zeppa (late Henry). Brother-in-law of Helen George (late Phil), Kay and Bob Jenkins and the late Rita Rochon (Cme). Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Terry was the oldest son of Charlie and Monica Murphy of John Street. When he graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School at the age of 22, Terry became the youngest person in Ontario to be called to the Bar. He served a term as Alderman for the City of Sault Ste. Marie in 1965 and was elected to serve as the Liberal Federal Member of Parliament for the riding of Sault Ste. Marie from 1968 until 1972. During this time, he served on the Justice Committee and also chaired the North Atlantic Assembly, a post that required him to visit all the NATO countries. In 1980 he was appointed as a Judge for the District of Sudbury/Manitoulin, where he sat until his retirement in 2000. In 2005, Terry was honoured to be formally acknowledged by The Advocates' Society, in the book Learned Friends, as one of fifty of the finest advocates practising in Ontario from 1950 to 2000, who exemplified the very highest standards of advocacy and shaped the legal profession in the province. Terry lived life well, with no regrets. He loved his family, music, good wine, good food, stimulating conversation, Dorothy's flower gardens, and the rugged beauty of Northern Ontario. CUMMINGS, RICHARD ANTHONY - The death of Rick Cummings of Lakeside, NB, formerly of Quispamsis, husband of Karen (Baird) Cummings, occurred on Saturday, July 12th, 2008, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Ronald and Marie (Brand) Cummings. Rick worked for Irving Pulp for 36 years, retiring in 2007. Besides his wife, Karen, Rick is survived by two sons, Matthew and Nicholas, both at home; one sister, Sharon McGillivray (Ken) of Hamilton, ON; one brother, Bob Cummings of Quispamsis; one sister-in-law, Sandra McCluskey (Wayne) of Rothesay; one niece, Sherry Power, three nephews, Jason Chamberlain, Josh and Justin Cummings; one great-niece, Ashley Power; as well as, several other nieces and nephews. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 16th, 2008, at 10:00 am, in the chapel of Kennebecasis Select Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (506) 849-2119.
