Elle laisse ses petits-enfants Alain, Alek, Caroline et Véronique ainsi que son arrière-petite-fille Kristen. MURRAY, Dr. William R. Aged 83 years, Professor and Chairman Emeritus of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, died July 4th, 2008 at his home in San Francisco with family at his side. His wife of 54 years, Mary Patricia (McGrory) Murray predeceased him in 2005. He is survived by his son Scott Murray of Belvedere, Cal., and daughter and son-in-law Barry Murray Kuhn and Kevin Kuhn of Mill Valley, Cal. His grandchildren, Madeline and Calum Kuhn were the light of his life and he loved to tell them stories of his childhood in Ottawa and life with their Nana. He is also survived by his brother Robert Murray, MD, of Trenton, Michigan, sisters Mary Margaret LaCompte and Priscilla Gladu of Ottawa, and many, many nieces and nephews. The hundreds of patients he helped, the large number of residents he trained, the peers he worked along side of and friends he socialized with will also remember him fondly. The family is particularly grateful to Dr. Murray's dedicated caregivers, physical therapist and excellent physicians who cared for him over the last few years. OLIVER, Edward (Ted) The family is sad to announce the passing of Ted Oliver who succumbed after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Devoted husband of Helen ("Mutt"). He will be deeply missed by his children Randy Oliver (Sarah), Chris Oliver (Julie) and Jane Lawton (Mark) and cherished grandchildren Nicholas, Jacquelyn, Jennifer, Matthew, Samantha, Brian and Claire. Ted was retired from the Public Service after many years of involvement in pensions, hospital insurance, medical care, Indian Affairs and Industry. During his retirement he spent many happy times at the cottage, playing bridge with friends and family, and trying to reach the next level in computer chess. In the later years, most of his time was devoted to caring for and allowing Mutt to live at home as long as possible as she regressed into Alzheimer's. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Ron and Frances Elliott for their friendship to the family. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. COOKE, G.J. (Jack) We sadly announce the passing of our beloved father, Jack Cooke, in Peace Arch Hospital on June 28, 2008. Jack was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, in 2002. Jack will be dearly missed by his loving children - Penny (Tony) Dalton, Randy (Alix) Cooke, and their children Melinda (Neil), Dana (Wes), Jaimie (Chris), and Joanna (Graham); stepson Steve (Jennifer) Welch, their sons Adam and Matthew, and his favourite cousin, Patti Cooke. Jack was born on September 18, 1922, in Edson, Alberta. He joined TCA (later Air Canada) in 1945 in Lethbridge, Alberta, and subsequently worked for TCA in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. In 1956, Russ Baker, founder of Pacific Western Airlines, asked Jack to join his new company in Vancouver. Throughout his career, he served in many senior management positions and retired in 1987. Jack was defined by his outgoing personality and his high regard for his colleagues throughout his forty-two years in the aviation industry. Jack's passion was golf and he enjoyed many years as a member of Point Grey Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, and Willow Park Golf and Country Club in Calgary. He served as The Worshipful Master of Grandview Masonic Lodge in 1961 and was a proud member of the Shriners' Oriental Band, where he excelled at playing the tambourine. A celebration of Jack's life will be held at the Delta Vancouver Airport Hotel, 3500 Cessna Drive, on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. A private family service will be held in Calgary, where he will be interred with the "love of his life" Barbara. FERGUSON, Elaine Maureen (nee Guerard) December 8, 1938 - July 9, 2008 Elaine Maureen Ferguson passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 9 at the age of 69. Elaine was born in Kelowna, BC. While living in Calgary, Elaine met and wed David Ferguson; they had one son, Wade. Wade was the pride and joy of Elaine`s life whom she loved immensely and unconditionally. In mid-life, Elaine found that she loved working with children, and began doing so after years as a nursing assistant with a family physician. Elaine was a kind soul, devoted to her son and an enthusiastic member of the LDS Church where she found a great spiritual support and community. Elaine was known for her great love of music and beads. Elaine will be sadly and deeply missed by all who knew her, and most especially by her son Wade, his wife Kristin and her brother-in-law Jack Ferguson. Elaine is survived by Wade (Kristin) Ferguson. She is predeceased by her husband David. MOPPETT, Benjamin Albert Rumsley Our much loved Dad and Grandad passed away on July 6, 2008 at the age of 90 years. Ben was born in Eastbourne, Sussex, England where he served in the RAF. He loved England and enjoyed biking around the South Downs and Seaside. He came to Canada with his wife and family in 1957. Ben spent many years working for the Calgary Board of Education. Gardening has always been Dad's passion, whether in England digging at the Allotment or in Canada in his garden, which he tended until just a few days before his passing. Dad loved the mountains, spending time with his grandchildren, drinking endless cups of tea and visits from his feline friend Karat. We will miss his quick wit, humour and sage observations. He was predeceased by Barbara, his wife of fifty-three years, in 1996. He is survived by his sons, Ron (Katherine and sons Nathaniel and Ben), George (Sylvia), Chris (Lorraine) and daughter Averie (Bob) and grandchildren Damian, Robin, Mikey, Mandy, Jonathan and Lyndsay and great-grandchild, Erin. "Jum" is also remembered by his sister, Kit and extended family in England. There will be a private family gathering. PENKER, Robin 1980 - 2008 Robin Penker passed away on July 3, 2008 while climbing on Mt. Kidd. CRAWLEY, Mary Gertrude 2008-07-11 Mrs. Mary Gertrude Crawley, age 98 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in Hogarth-Riverview Manor surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 10, 2008. Mary was born in Hayward, Wisconsin to Patrick and Johanna Doyle. She moved to Fort Frances, where she married Gerald Crawley on December 16, 1930. She came to Fort William in 1941. She was a member of St. Agnes‘ Church and a life time member of the C.W.L. Mary is survived by her grandchildren Pat Crawley, Debbie Bonnell (Russ), J.J. LaHaise and Martyn Crawley Jr. (Leona), 4 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mary was predeceased by her husband Gerald, son Martyn, daughter-in-law Rita, parents, seven brothers and seven sisters. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2008 when family and friends will gather for the Funeral Mass in St. Agnes‘ Church at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. James Panikulam. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Agnes‘ Church. Private family interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery. CHARLES, Steven William Edgar “Smiley“ - “Going back 2 God! Haven't had much LUCK without Him!“ - Passed away suddenly as a result of a motorcycle accident on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in his 36th year. Steven is the son of Suzanne Charles of Pembroke and Bill Charles (Sue Hopkins) of Deep River. Steven leaves behind a very dear and “Special“ sister Stefanie from Ottawa and a future brother- in-law Brad Wilson and his very best friend - his dog - Vegas. Steven leaves behind his grandmothers Jacqueline Charron and Jean Charles of Pembroke, his aunts Michelle (Rob), Denise (Al) of Pembroke, Lise (Dave) of Kingston, his uncles Marc (Karen), Ronald of Pembroke and Peter of Oshawa. He also leaves behind his cousins Natalie, Chantal, Sylvie, Lisa, Reita, Hannah, Sarah, Deborah, Tommy, Margo, and his step-brother Derek and step-sister Connie and also numerous childhood friends, all whom have touched his heart dearly. Working at CHEO had been a great part of Steven's life, which greatly touched his heart. He's always remembered those motorcycle rides for the kids. I think the “Smile was Bigger“ on his face than theirs. Steve loved life and lived it to the fullest and life was very good to him, especially the memories of Indian Point (Beach). MAGUIRE, Michael - Michael “Mick” Maguire, 80, beloved husband and uncle, of Sault Ste. Marie, “went upstairs,” ascending on 10 July 2008, from the Plummer Memorial Hospital. He was born 27 Aug 1927, in Largy, Fermanagh, Ireland, to the late Philip John and Susan Maguire (nee McGrath). He married Eunice L. Pryce, his loving wife, who preceded him in death. Mick declared he “wanted to see the world” and to do so, left the family farm and immigrated to Canada in 1957. His first years here were spent in Southern Ontario employed as a farm labourer, thereafter moving to Sault Ste. Marie where he worked for Algoma for several years before retiring in 1981. Soft spoken and non-complaining, Uncle Mick's favorite expression was. . . “Oh, yeah.” He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Susan (late Joe) Maguire and Annie (late Brendan) Sullivan, England; nephew: John (Lyn) Meehan, Ft McMurray, AB; niece: Philomena (John) Ryan, Guelph, ON; good friends Vern & Bonnie Jennings and Patricia Leybourne; four step-children; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and good friends in Ontario and Ireland. Mick was further preceded in death by his sisters Molly Dillon and Rose Meehan, and brothers William, Philip and John Maguire.
