McCormack, Gilbert 2008-06-04 Gib McCormack of Algoma Street, at age 90, passed away peacefully at home on June 3. 2008. Born in Port Arthur and attended PACI and later Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph, ON. On graduation, he worked in the family farm supply business and later in industrial equipment. In 1941, he joined the RCAF and trained as a radar technician at the RCAF Station in Clinton, ON. He was posted to Great Britain and transferred to various RAF groups in England and Scotland. During training for D-Day, he was posted to 2 Group, 2nd Tactical Air Force, RAF. During his period with this command, he served in France and northern Belgium during the Allied advance across Europe. After returning to Canada, he married Faye Bowlier on Oct. 2, 1948. They had 3 children, Douglas, James and Robert. In 1967, he joined the Federal government and served as manager in the Emergency Supply Planning Branch, Public Works of Canada and finally with the Department of Regional Economic Expansion from 1973. Following retirement he and Faye spent 17 years wintering in Alamo, Texas. For more than 50 years, one of Gib’s greatest joys came from spending time at the family camp at Hawkeye Lake. He was predeceased by his parents Angus and Eva and his two sisters, Laura McCormack and Christine Wright. Survived by his wife, Faye, their three sons: Doug of Thunder Bay, Jamie (m. Maureen Seibel) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Rob (m. Debbie Williams) of Thunder Bay, his sister Eva May Mahon of Thornhill, ON and six grandchildren. Jamie and Maureen’s children are Kristen (m. Rob) Lyons of Indianapolis, Indiana, John of Westerville, Ohio and Lauren of Austin, Texas. Rob and Debbie’s children are Emily, James and Lydia, all of Thunder Bay. Also surviving is a special niece JoAnn Seabrook of Thunder Bay. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 2:00 pm in the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Hugh MacDonald presiding. Interment in Riverside Cemetery. Immediately following the service a reception will be held in the Sargent Family Reception Centre. Should friends desire and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.

She was predeceased by her husband, Armand; one daughter, Claire; one granddaughter, Danielle; and by one great-grandson, Ricky. BUBBA, Elmira Alma (nee Grassi) - In loving memory of Elmira Alma Bubba (nee Grassi) 1915 - 2008. Passed away peacefully with her loving husband at her side on Monday, June 2nd, 2008 at Extendicare-Falconbridge, in her 92nd year. Mrs. Bubba was one of 12 children and the eldest daughter of Domenico and Domenica Grassi, and grew up in North Bay, Ontario. She attended St. Mary's School and was a member of St. Rita's Church. She married Tomasso (Tom) Bubba of Sudbury in 1940, and the couple made their home in Naughton, where for many years, she managed the family operated general store while raising four children. A devout Catholic, Alma was an active member of St. Philip Neri Parish in Naughton, and later St. Pius X Parish in Lively. She served as sacristan at St. Philip Neri through the years it existed as a parish. She was also a charter member of the parish Catholic Women's League. For decades, she supported the missionary work of the Scarborough Foreign Missions as well as Our Lady of Victory Basillica and National Shrine in Lakawana, New York. Mrs. Bubba was well-known in the Sudbury area for her patronage and support of education. She sponsored academic awards at Our Lady of Fatima School in Naughton for many years. Alma Bubba belonged to that generation of women who grew up during the Roaring 20's and the Great Depression and came to their maturity in World War II. She could make anything she put her hand to, took pride in her homemaking skills, gave generously of her time and talent to the church and always encouraged her children to study hard and do well in school. Alma is survived by her husband of 67 years Tom; sons Robert of Toronto and James (Veronika) of Sudbury; daughters Gloria Jean of Toronto and Lydia (Steve Jacobson) of Hockessin, Delaware; grandchildren Derrick (Melissa) of Newmarket, and Jason (Kelly) of Sudbury; and great grandchildren Ethan and Gracen of Sudbury and Megan and Kyle of Newmarket. Alma is also survived by sisters Olga Baldelli of Copper Cliff, Anita Blais of Sudbury, and Stella Meadows of Calgary; brothers Norman and Eddie Grassi of Sudbury, Leonard Grassi of North Bay, Henry Grassi of Innisfail, Alberta and Sam Grassi of Winnipeg; and many nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces. She is predeceased by brothers Patrick, Donald and Laborio. SIMMONS, Audrey Maureen 2008-06-04 SIMMONS Mrs. Audrey Maureen Simmons, 57 years young, passed away unexpectedly in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 with close family and friends at her side. Audrey was born in Ombabika, Ontario, and then resided in Thunder Bay. Audrey was a very outgoing and easy loving person with many gifts that touched everyone who knew her. She loved to listen to Elvis Presley and Charlie Pride. Audrey enjoyed spending time with family and friends and extremely proud of being a Nana to her grandchildren Bryce and Jasmine. She enjoyed joking around and telling old stories, and loved the sight of having a house full of plants, flowers, and all the little knickknacks of Elvis Presley. Audrey is survived by her husband Gerald Simmons (Porchus and her children: Wanda Metansinine (Jean), Wendy Darling (Richard) and Jonathan Simmons (Michelle); two grandchildren: Bryce Primeau and Jasmine Darling as well as Lisa Metansinine. She also had a special place in her heart to be a mother to Dorothy Cheesequay and Bart Metansinine; brothers: Maurice Fournier(Metansinine) ˆVera, Raymond Sassines (Alice), John Metansinine (Mary); sisters: Pedlick Cheesequay, Jane Fournier, Maryann Nord (Cliff), Dorothy Goodman (Frank), and Vivian Simmons (Victor).Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. BOUDREAU, GEORGE HENRY - Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on June 3rd, 2008, Mr. George Henry Boudreau, husband of Alda Marie (Belliveau) Boudreau of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Woodvale NS on January 7th, 1926, he was a son of the late Terrance and Nellie (Saulnier) Boudreau. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Alda; two sons, Emile (Judy) Boudreau and Ernest (Wendy) Boudreau both of Pennfield; two daughters, Annette Boudreau (Raymond Breau) and Lorraine (Richard) Hooper also of Pennfield; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. George worked for Connors Brothers in Blacks Harbour for 39 years. He enjoyed spending time woodworking, waving to his friends from his front window and spending time with his family and many friends. Gabriel Wysote Jr. Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on May 26, 2008 at the age of 69, Mr. Gabriel Wysote Jr. Born in Listuguj on June 4, 1938, he was the son of the late Gabriel Wysote Sr. and the late Annie Martin. Vivian M. Murray Family and friends were deeply saddened by the death of Vivian M. Murray of Robinsonville, N.B. which occurred on May 09, 2008 at Campbellton Regional Hospital. She was in her 89th year and lived independently in her home until her death. She was a lifelong member of United Church Women's Group and the "founder of The Robinsonville Community Hall. Born July 29, 1919, Vivian was predeceased by her husband, (Arnold) and two sons, (Gary, Wayne). She is survived by eight of her ten children, Edith Firth (Albert), Emerson (Thelma), Eursal (Marjorie), Roy (Mona), Nick (Betty), Nancy, Gwen, and Ken; plus five sisters, Frances Firth, Edith Fugere, Doreen DeMerchant, Olive Fedorowich, Loal Cater; and two brothers, Baden Firth and John Firth; along with 24 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren. The funeral was held at Savoie Funeral Home with Pastor Nicholas Murray officiating; the eulogy was presented by her son, Ken. She was carried by her children and a special tribute of love and honour was presented in the laying of flowers by her grandchildren. Kenneth Scott Murray Family and friends were deeply shocked by the sudden death of Scott Murray of Edmonton, Alberta which occurred on May 11, 2008. Born on May 27, 1969, Scott was employed in the Heating and Ventilation industry, following his graduation from technical college in St. Andrews, N.B. Scott was an avid sports enthusiast and his many friends enjoyed his jovial sense of humour and zest for life. Scott is survived by his mother, Brenda Murray, Campbellton; his only remaining grandparent, Patrick (Pampee) O'Connell, Escuminac; his sister, Tricia Murray, Vancouver; his father, Ken Murray, Campbellton; and his two children, Kelsey and Tyler. Born in Lorne, he was the son of the late Patrick LaPointe & the late Virginia(Carrier). He worked many years in the mines in Murdochville and later at Brunswick mines for 23 years upon his retirement. He was a member of the Jacquet River Legion and was an adopted vet by the Jacquet River Ladies Auxillary. Fabian loved life and people. He is survived by his wife, Hilda (O'Brien); daughters, Mariette Carrier (William) of Lorne, Darlene Furlotte (Joseph) of Lorne; sons, Eugene (Joan) of Lorne, Lloyd (Linda) of Lorne; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sisters, Germaine Clair of Campbellton, Corrinne Godin of Lorne and brothers, Emile, Justin, Arsene, Edgar, all of Lorne, Gordon of Barrie, ON and Philippe of Bathurst. Besides his parents, he also was predeceased by his son Ronnie and brother Emmanuelle. His funeral was held from St.Maria Goretti Church, Lorne, Monday, May 19, 2008 officiated by Father David Ferguson with a legion service following the funeral service. Honorary pallbearers were the Jacquet River Legion members as well as the Ladies Auxillary. Armand J. LeBlanc Of Waltham, died Wednesday evening, May 21, 2008, at the Newton Wellesley Hospital after a brief illness. He was 83. The son of the late Edward "Eddie" and Melina (Belliveau) LeBlanc, he was born, raised and educated in New Brunswick, Canada and has been a Waltham resident most of his life. Working in the building trades for many years, he then went on to be employed with the facility maintenance department at Bentley College in Waltham and after his retirement worked had part time with Designs in Blinds and Drapes in Waltham. Mr. LeBlanc loved walking, tending to his yard and home, music and socializing at the French American Victory Club in Waltham. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine R. (Landry) LeBlanc in 2005, and has the brother of the late Doris Breau, Corrine Bourgeois, Celina Leger, Laurie, Henry, Joseph and Paul LeBlanc. Mr. LeBlanc is survived by his children, Linda M. LeBlanc, Richard J. LeBlanc, Patricia A. LeBlanc and Susan M. LeBlanc all of Waltham, his sisters, Josie Babin and her companion, Norman of Dieppe, NB, Irene LeBlanc and her husband, Louis of Middleton, Claudette LeBlanc and her husband, Albert of Dieppe, NB, Maria LeBlanc and her husband, Edward of St. Kent, NB and his brother, Arthur LeBlanc and his wife, Corrine of Grand'Brachois, NB. His many nieces and nephews also survive him. Services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. from the Brasco and Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Charles Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Joseph Comfort 1940 - 2008 Joseph Comfort, 68, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on Monday, June 2, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Born on May 15, 1940 son of the late Owen and Helena (Matchett) Comfort. Joseph will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Loretta of 47 years; three sons, Larry (Billie Joe), Kenny (Sonia), Kevin (Jackie); one daughter, Christina Lee (Rob), 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, Owen, Brian, Paul, David and two sisters, Libby and Debbie as well as several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Besides his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his son, Todd. Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm. FOWLER, John "Johnny" Edward On Monday, June 2nd, 2008, at the Ottawa General Hospital in his 68th year. John will be greatly missed by his wife Judith (nee Hunt), and his daughter Michelle, her husband Randall, along with his four grandsons, Ryan, Brandon, Sean, and Eric Kinney. John was predeceased by his parents Hilda (nee Burns) and James Fowler, and his son, Scott Fowler. John will be lovingly remembered by his brothers Larry (Joan), Jimmy (Joan), and Bobby (Joyce); all of his nieces and nephews; and the rest of his extended family and friends. John was born Joggins, Nova Scotia, and raised in Amherst, Nova Scotia. He served in the Canadian Military before moving to Ontario in his early twenties. He was a long time member of the Navy Club and the Royal Canadian Legion. John was a long time employee of General Motors Oshawa until his retirement 8 years ago. An interment service will be held at the Pinegrove Cemetery in Norland, Ontario, on Saturday June 21st at 2:00pm, with a reception to follow. BALL, Doris Eileen (nee Stewart) December 5, 1916 - May 31, 2008 Doris Eileen Ball, beloved wife of Roderick J.J. Ball of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the age of 91 years. Born December 5, 1916 in Calgary, AB, the only daughter of Myrtle and Douglas Stewart. Doris was educated in Calgary and completed her Royal Conservatory Music Certificate and began a sixty-eight year career as a piano teacher serving in Olds and Calgary. Married in July 1945 to Roderick J.J. Ball (deceased October 4, 1998). A longtime member of First Baptist Church, Doris was the organist during the 1940's. She volunteered as a nursery school teacher for many years in the church and also spent many years playing for Sunday night services at the original Children's Hospital in Scarboro. Doris loved music, teaching, and gardening and was in her home on 17 Avenue for fifty-seven years. She will be remembered for her generous nature, warm welcomes, her love for family and great party recitals. She is survived by her three children: daughter Jennifer and Ron Labelle, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; daughter Joy and Bing Fountain, four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and son Roderick and Valerie Ball, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Ben was a loving father to his daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and David and a proud Zaida of Jeremy and Emily.
