Il laisse dans le deuil sa tendre épouse Andréa; ses enfants: Alison (Darko), Catherine et Louise; ses beaux-enfants: Olga (Ken), Jean (Carole), Richard (Caroline), Lisa (Régis) et Tanya (Charles). Né à Toronto le 5 avril 1925, Dave a servi dans la RAF de 1942 à 1945. Il a été au service de Atomic Energy, US Nuclear Radiation Safety, le Ministère de la santé de l'Ontario et Nordian de 1955 à 1989. Lorsqu'il s'est retiré en 1989, il a passé ses dernières années avec Andréa à Ottawa et à Montréal à l'Ile des Soeurs. Son grand sens de l'humour, ses histoires et son rire manqueront à ses petits-fils, Yuri et Miro; les petits-enfants d'Andréa: Jesse, Sonja, Nicolas, Matthew, François, Paul, Suzan Danny, Dylan, Jeremy, Maxime, Robin, Wylliam et Sydney. Les cinq derrières années, il a été entouré du personnel soignant et dévoué de l'aile 10B et 14B de l'hôpital de Sainte-Anne de Bellevue. Au lieu de fleurs, un don à la fondation de l'hôpital de Sainte-Anne de Bellevue en mémoire de Wiliam David Clark serait apprécié. Une liturgie de la parole sera célébrée le samedi 24 mai 2008 à 16 h à la chapelle de la Maison Darche 505 boul. Outre sa mère, il laisse dans le deuil son fils, Serge Pitre (Irène) de Beresford; sa fille, Liette Pitre-Hébert (Marcel) d’Oromocto; son amie de coeur, Virginie Duguay; sept frères: Germain (Thérèse) de Beresford, Vernon (Jeanne) de Robertville, Aurèle (Murielle Boudreau) de Nigadoo, Laurent, Jules, Ronald (Sylvie Boudreau) et René (Carole), tous de Beresford; cinq soeurs: Imelda Simard (Léger) de Chicoutimi, Qc, Mercia Doucet (Conrad) de Sainte-Rosette, Nancy Pitre, Joanne Guignard (Marcel) et Solange Pitre (Simon Boudreau), toutes de Beresford; la mère de ses enfants, Diane Comeau de Fort McMurray, Alb., ainsi que trois petits-enfants, plusieurs nièces et neveux. Loving wife to the late “Allen” Edward Robinson (1996) and previously to the late Arthur Reid (1968). Predeceased by her children Frederick (Helen) of Sudbury, Arthur (Doris) of Sudbury and Patrick (Edith) of Winnipeg. Loving stepmother of Jack (Eira) of Massey, Harold (Ursula) of Massey, Lola Robinson of Milton and the late Bruce, Betty Caldwell and Ina Robinson. Dear grandmother of Beverly (Bill Desjardin) of Lively, Brenda (Hussein Wehbe) of Garson, Sharon (John Winkler) of Waterloo, Arthur (Penny) of Winnipeg, Sheila (Riley O'Connor) of Winnipeg and Sarah of Winnipeg. Gertrude will also be remembered by her 12 step-grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren, 3 greatgreatgrandchildren and predeceased by 1 greatgreatgrandchild Trinity. MOSHENKO, Dmytro “Metro“ - In loving memory of Dmytro “Metro“ Moshenko, 92 years, who passed away at his residence in Sudbury on Sunday, May 18th, 2008. Beloved husband of the late Louise (nee Duciewicz). Loving father of Donna Moshenko (Larry) of Sudbury and Don (predeceased). Dear brother Mike (wife Ann) of Peterborough, Bessie Rak of Newmarket, Minnie Kapustik of Kirkland Lake and the late Billy, Paul, Steven, Mary Zdan, Annie Yenko and Nellie Columbus, all predeceased. Son of Josef and Frances, Metro was born in the farming community of Garland, Manitoba which remained close to his heart throughout his life. In 1937, at the age of 22, Metro moved to Sudbury where he was hired on at Frood Mine. Working conditions in the mines were harsh and dangerous since those were the years workers struggled to unionize. After experiencing three brushes with death underground, Metro, with his spirit of independence and self-reliance decided to heed those warning and seek fortune elsewhere. After working as a lumberjack/teamster and construction carpenter, he was hired on at Falconbridge where he remained until he retired as a surface foreman at Fecunis Lake mine. The love of Metro's life was Louise. They married Christmas Day, 1939. Metro and Louise danced their way through 58 years of marriage. In later years, Metro lovingly cared for Louise, while her health slowly declined until she passed away in their Minnow Lake home in 1998. Metro was a true family man. During his son Don's youth, Metro and Don were constant hunting and fishing companions. Louise and daughter Donna also enjoyed endless family camping, fishing and berry-picking trips. Grandsons Sean, Darren and Justin were additional treasures in Metro's life. Metro shared his passion for his flower and vegetable gardens with family, neighbours and friends. Another great pleasure was telling stories of his exciting, adventurous life. Metro spent his last years living at his home with his loving daughter Donna and devoted friend, Larry Behnka. Because of the understanding of the Sudbury Law Association, the exceptional care from Dr. Krawczuk; the boundless help offered from generous friends; and the constant support given by sympathetic neighbours, staff and volunteers at Community Care Access Centre, Bayshore, Meals-On-Wheels, and the Alzheimer's Society, Larry and Donna were able to love and care for Metro until he passed away at his home. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation at Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the Alzheimer's Society or Meals-On-Wheels would be greatly appreciated. LEHTOLA, Vilma (Heikkuri) - In loving memory of Vilma (Heikkuri) Lehtola who passed away peacefully, May 18th, 2008 in her 98th year, at the Extendicare York, which had been her home for over 14 years. Born in Teuva, Finland, October 17, 1910, she was the beloved wife of Eino Lehtola predeceased in 1980. Loving mother of Iris Hakala of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Gail Hakala of Toronto. She had two sisters and many nieces and nephews in Finland. Vilma was a member of the Finnish Senior Citizen's Club of Sudbury. She was an excellent cook and spent many happy hours working in her garden at home and at the cottage on Charles Lake. Special thanks to Dr. Kuchtaruk, the wonderful staff on the 6th Floor and the dedicated activities staff at Extendicare York, for their loving care and support over the years, “Mummu and Aiti“, we love you. DOUCETTE, Anita (née Trottier) - The family announces with sorrow her death in Sudbury, Monday, May 19th, 2008 at the age of 75 years. Wife of the late Laurient Poulin and of the late Joe Doucette. Sadly missed by her companion Willie Lalonde of Chelmsford. Daughter of the late Élorie and of the late Sara (née Portelance) Trottier. Beloved mother of Thérèse Moncion (late Rodolphe) of Val Caron, Diane Poulin, Liliane Michel (Claude), Micheline Lavallée (friend Gilles Boudreau) and Monique Poulin all of Chelmsford, Michel Poulin (Hélène) of Azilda and Gérard Poulin (Monique) of Dowling. Predeceased by her brother Léo Trottier (Berthe of Chelmsford). Sadly missed by her 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. McLAUGHLIN, Pauline, nee Sowchuck - 1922- 2008. Peacefully with her family by her side Pauline was called to heaven on Saturday, May 17th. Predeceased by her husband Daniel [1998] of 52 years. Pauline leaves behind and will be missed by her sister Laura Pero of St. Catharines; Sons Tom (Lindsay), Daniel (Linda) of Vancouver, Robert and Daughter Colleen; grandson Ryan and granddaughters Katharine (Kent Wingert) and Mikaela McLaughlin and many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in St. Catharines, Pauline worked as a foreman at a canning plant during wartime, then worked at Kimbery Clark known then as the Cellucotton where she met Dan McLaughlin. She was known by her laughter, her chocolate chip cookies and by having a warm and welcoming home to all her family and children's friends. A former member of St. Patrick's CWL, in the 70's Pauline and family moved to Chippawa where they attended Sacred Heart Parish. ANDERSON, Louisa Alice Alice Anderson died peacefully at the Osgoode Township Care Centre on Monday, May 12, 2008. She was born in Rathwell, Manitoba on March 9, 1910. Her family moved to Stonewall, Manitoba where she attended school. In 1936 she moved to Ottawa where she worked for the Department of Finance until her retirement in 1975. Alice was predeceased by her parents, Archdeacon Jacob and Edith Anderson, her sisters, Kathleen (Kay) Oliver and Ellen McKenzie, her brother, Bishop John Ogle Anderson, her niece, Edith Kerr. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: John and Robert (Bud) Oliver, Ross McKenzie, Mary Rushton, Elizabeth LeMaistre, David Anderson and their families. Her extended family was very important to her and her presence at all family gatherings was treasured. Alice Anderson was a faithful member of the Cathedral Parish of Christ Church in Ottawa. Her retirement was filled with church and volunteer work, travel, needlework and music until she was no longer able to participate in these activities. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 420 Sparks Street, Ottawa, Thursday May 22, 2008 at 11 a.m. The ashes will be interred in the family plot in St. Clement's Churchyard, Mapleton, MB at a later date. Her family expresses gratitude to the Osgoode Township Care Centre in Metcalfe, ON for the compassionate care she received during her stay there. Sister Bridget Alice Windle, CSJ (Sister Joan) Sister Joan passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Pembroke Regional Hospital. She was in the 61st year of her religious life. She was born in Mount St. Patrick a daughter of the late Edward and Beatrice (Murphy) Windle. Left to mourn her loss and celebrate her life among us are her Sisters in the Congregation, her brother Edward of Renfrew and her much loved nieces and nephews Joan, Lana, Carol, Rosemary, John, Barbara, Phil, Kate and Ken and their families. She is predeceased by her brother Sylvester Patrick and her sister Mary Cecelia Enright. Early in her religious vocation Sr. Joan received her teaching certificate and her first assignment was St. Josephs School in Calabogie. Her career then took her to St. Mary's in Deep River, Our Lady of Sorrows in Petawawa and Our Lady of Mercy School in Bancroft. After teaching, Sister came to Pembroke to serve her Congregation in a leadership capacity, including that of Local Superior for 2 terms as well as heading the kitchen staff. She will be long remembered for her generous heart, pleasant smile, and friendly disposition. Visitation at St. Joseph's Motherhouse, Pembroke on Tuesday, May 20, starting at 3:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 21st at 10:30 a.m. at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse. WARKENTIN, Idella Sue 1934 - 2008 With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sue Brower Warkentin on Monday, May 19, 2008 at Rockyview Hospital, after a long and trying illness. Sue was born in 1934 in Chanute, Kansas, the only child of Bill and Bessie Brower. She spent her childhood years in Chanute and Kansas City, and then attended William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, graduating with a degree in medical laboratory science. While working as a research assistant at the University of Kansas, she met her husband John, a pathology resident there. In 1962, she accompanied him back to Canada, first to Winnipeg, then to Calgary in 1967. She is survived by John, her husband of forty-seven years, by four daughters, Kim (Bob) Cox, Karen (Bob) Einarsson, Pam Warkentin and Beckie (Clive) Grant, and by seven grandchildren, Victoria, James, Paige, Michael, Kristen, Zachary and Della. The family wishes to thank Drs. Fleck and Boyar, the staff of Unit 59 and the Physiotherapy Department for the patient and compassionate care they gave Sue during her long stay at Rockyview.
