MANN, Pamela Dawn - Succumbed peacefully at Soldier's Memorial Hospital in the morning hours of April 23, 2008 accompanied by family, following a long and dignified battle with cancer. Beloved daughter of Lorraine MacLeod of Orillia. Loving mother of Chris Mann and his wife Dianne of Cameron, Don Mann and his wife Krista of Etobicoke, Pamela will be greatly missed by her grandsons: Richard, Eddie, Steven and Liam Mann. A graduate of York Memorial and Ryerson Polytechnic, Pamela worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at Humber Memorial and West Park Hospitals. Pamela relocated to Orillia from Weston in 2003 and loved her adopted home with all of her heart. A special thanks to the Villages of Leacock Point community. You are a wonderful and welcoming group of people and our mother was very fortunate to live in such a warm and supportive neighbourhood. The family would like to express a deep appreciation to the C4 nursing staff at O.S.M.H. for their compassionate and humanitarian care. Pamela was predeceased by her father Donald Walter MacLeod (1973) and is survived by her former husband James Mann of Lindsay. Born in Mattawa, Ontario, daughter of the late Risk and Martha (Joseph) Monsour. Beloved wife of 59 years of Orland Field. Cherished and dear mother of Donna and her husband Dr. Bruce Warwick, Chatham, and special daughter Lyn Wells, (Merv), Ottawa. Devoted and adored Grandmother of Devon and Katie. Survived by brother Nick Monsour and sister Georgette (Lester) Law, London. Pre-deceased by sisters Lily Nihmey, Edna Zion, Rose Graham, and Mary Monsour. Sister-in-law of Peter Graham, Montreal. Favourite aunt of many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mrs. Field was a highly respected and regarded teacher at Taylor Avenue and Queen Mary Elementary Schools, having retired in 1983. She was an active bridge player, a former member of the I.O.D.E. and an involved member of St. Paul's Anglican Church. Jean was the daughter of Samuel and Annie Wilson. She married Wm Alan Lawrance on June 2, 1932 who predeceased her in 1973. She was a long time employee of the Huronia Regional Centre. HUNTER, Wilma Jean (nee: Milne) - peacefully, after a short illness, surrounded by the love of her family, at the Brantford General Hospital, on Sunday May 18, 2008. Wilma Hunter passed away one day after her 86th birthday. Predeceased by her husband Lloyd Harvey Hunter, her parents Max and Mary Milne of Rockwood, her three brothers William, James and Kenneth and her great-granddaughter, Natalie. Wilma is survived by her children Judith (John) Wood of Ancaster, Raymond (Anna Mae), Howard (Lynne), David (Claudette) and Brenda (John) Lahay, all of Brantford. WELSH, Jim 2008-05-20 After several years of battling numerous health complications, Jim passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with close family and friends by his sideon Saturday May 17th, 2008. Jim was a resident of Thunder Bay his entire life. He graduated from Selkirk High School and Confederation College with his Industrial and Construction and Maintenance Electrician qualifications. Jim spent years of his career at Great Lakes Paper, Strachan-Electric, and retired from Manitoba Pool Elevators. Jim was an avid sports fan, especially faithful to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He enjoyed camping and fishing with friends and family. Jim was involved in The Boy Scouts of Canada as well as Search and Rescue Thunder Bay. Jim especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends whom he had an abundance of love for, which he expressed on a daily basis. Jim fully enjoyed the beauty of Thunder Bay. He and Irene would spend hours at the Mission Marsh and the Waterfront together. Jim will be missed and always remembered by his long time partner Irene Scott, his four children, Bill Welsh (Kerry), Dan Welsh, Jenn Welsh-Robertson (Tim) and Katie Welsh (Jamie). He will also me missed by Irene‘s children, Dan, Jason, Shannon, Johnny, and Bobby. Papa will always have a special place in the hearts of his grandchildren, Devan, Joshua, Kylie, Sydney, Dawson, Jaihda and Carson. His sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Dan Babcock and their families as well as many other extended family members and friends will also have a special place in their hearts for Jim. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Anne and Raymond Welsh, also of Thunder Bay. STOKES, Muriel 2008-05-20 The Stokes family sorrowfully announces the passing of Muriel Gilbert Stokes - nee Taylor. Muriel was born in Sturgeon Falls Ontario. The 11th of September 1938. She attended Teachers College in North Bay and started a long and rewarding career in teaching. Muriel had a full and good life and will be missed by all who knew and worked with her in the education system and the Tai Chi groups she practiced with. Muriel passed away on the 19th of May 2008 and is survived by her husband Roy, her daughter Gillian, her son Dale and her granddaughter Ellie. Muriel is also survived by her three brothers, Bob Taylor from Halifax, Jerry Taylor from British Columbia and Gib Taylor from Thunder Bay. Muriel‘s immediate family and closest friends would like to invite her many friends to an informal ceremony to celebrate the 70 years of her wonderful giving life. HICKS, JAMES EDWARD - Unexpectedly at his residence in Blacks Harbour, NB on May 17th, 2008, Mr. James Edward Hicks, husband of the late Alice Josephine (Leavitt) Hicks. Born in St. Louis MO, on October 1st, 1943, he was a son of the late Albert E. and Virginia L. (Boesiger) Hicks. A loving father and grandfather, he is survived by one son, Tony (Kim) Hicks of Waweig NB; one daughter, Donna (Randy) Moses of Blacks Harbour; two grandchildren, Craig Moses and Caitlin Hicks; sister- in-law, Frances (Arnold) Hatt of Utopia NB; brother-in-law, Gene (Ruth) Leavitt of Pennfield NB; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by one brother, Charles; and two sisters, Roberta Dickinson and Elizabeth Parker. James was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Jim moved to Canada in 1973 where he worked as an upholsterer in Saint John NB before moving to Blacks Harbour to work for Connors Bros. as an Electrician and Stationery Engineer for 30 years until his retirement. Jim served two tours in Vietnam with the 1st Air Calvary Division and received the Bronze Star before being Honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion in Calais ME, and member of the Masonic Lodge F & AM # 12 in St. George. J. HERBERT "HERB" CORMIE Truro, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Moncton, N.B., on November 10, 1931, he was a son of the late James and Annie (Wadman) Cormie. Herb worked for C.N. Railway for 38 years. He was a member of Brunswick St. United Church, Truro and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Nova Scotia, through his Mother Lodge, Duke of Kent #121 Spryfield and affiliated with Fellowship Lodge #112, Truro. He also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Herb is survived by his wife, the former Ann Reid MacDonald; son, Vaughan S. Cormie, Truro; grandson, Michael J. Cormie, Halifax; brother, Douglas (Monique) Cormie, Winnipeg; sister, Kathryn (Manning) Jay, Moncton; several nieces and nephews. Herb was predeceased by his step-mother, Mary Cormie. Raymond Ira Atkinson 1931 - 2008 Raymond Ira Atkinson of Riverview and formerly of Lower Coverdale, husband to Rita, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 18th, 2008. Born in Calhouns Mills, NB to the late Everett and Daisy Atkinson. Raymond was a Korean War Veteran serving from 1950-1952, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 for 38 years. He was employed with CN for 36 years before retiring in 1986. He and Rita traveled to Florida for 19 winters in Zephyrhills Park. His summers were spent at Mechanic Lake where he loved to fish. In addition to his wife Rita, he is survived by his children, Brenda Hyslop (George Price) of Hillsborough, Nancy (Bob) Prince of Salem Road, Linda (Mark) Beaumont of Edgetts Landing, Tracy (Kevin) O'Hara of Lower Coverdale, Bruce (Jennifer) Atkinson of Lower Coverdale); 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by a baby girl, Debra (July 1949); son, Michael (March 1969); and son, Raymond Jr. (2003). FARRELL, Kathleen (nee Fahey). It is with great sorrow that Kathleen's family announces her passing at the Lakeshore General Hospital on May 18, 2008. Devoted wife of Donald, loving mother of Christopher (Luisa), Teresa (Mark) and Eleanor (Chris), cherished grandmother of eight. Dear sister to Mary, Joe and Anne. Sister-in-law to Sally, Ann and Pat. She will be laid to rest with her parents and brother, Anthony, at St. Philippe D'Argenteuil not far from Cushing where the Fahey Family country home provided summer happiness over many years. Kathleen was born on August 7, 1932 and married Donald on September 9, 1961. In April of 1964 they took up residence in Elm Park in Dollard-des-Ormeaux on the same street as her two brothers. Over their 46 years together, Kathleen dedicated herself to her husband and children and for this they will be forever grateful. Before Alzheimer's took its toll, she long enjoyed Donald's retirement, her children's successes and most of all her grandchildren.
