Born on March 27, 1925 in Devon, she was the daughter of the late William Albert and Laura (Amos) Matthews. She is survived by sons, Frank (Rita) Flanagan, Stephen Flanagan and Gary (Heather) Flanagan, all of Fredericton; daughter, Paula (Miles) Graham of Moncton; sisters, Joyce (Rene) St. Pierre and Bertie Goodine, both of Fredericton; grandchildren, Jennifer, Geoffrey, Peter, Christopher, Darren and Jody Flanagan and Gregory and Wendy Graham; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Gerald, Blair and Ronald Matthews. Ronald Leger 1948 - 2008 At the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008, at the age of 60, passed away Ronald Leger, husband of Ida Leger, of Shediac. Born on January 6th, 1948, he was the son of the late Bella Gaudet and the late Camille Leger. He is survived by one daughter, Renee (Craig McLeod) of Dieppe; one son, Jason (Gena) of Riverview; three brothers: Romeo (Rita) and Claude (Rachelle) both of Shediac, and Danny (Kathy) of Ontario; three sisters: Jeannine Newman and Dorine (Robert Bourgeois), both of Shediac, and Camilla (Tery Monnon) from Fredericton; two grandchildren: Brendan and Meghan. Ronald was a former employee of Pier 99 from Cap Pele and more recently employed at R.J. McLeod. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Born in Moncton, he was a son of Marion "Ann" (Fenton) Crandall, Petitcodiac, and the late Kenneth Crandall. Greg worked at the C.N.R. and then at the Petitcodiac Valley Golf and Country Club. He was a member of the Petitcodiac Baptist Church. Besides his mother, Greg is survived by his sisters, Pamela Cochrane (Jim), Salisbury, Mary Lou Crandall and Wendy Crandall, both of Petitcodiac; niece, Carrie Cochrane (James); grandniece, Allie; and his canine companion, Rusty. MACMILLAN, Patrick William P. ENG. In the early morning of Monday, March 31, 2008, Pat MacMillan died peacefully in Pembroke, Ontario in his 92nd year. born in Dawson City, Yukon Territory on Mother's Day, May 11th, 1916, Pat was the eldest child of William (Billy) and Lucile (McKay) MacMillan. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Mary; and, in February 2006, by Alice, his beloved wife of 63 years. he is remembered with much love by four children: one daughter, Eileen Conway, in Edmonton; and three sons, William and his wife Sue, in Kinburn; Robert and his wife Sue, in Oakville; James and his wife Gail in Lakefield; and by grandchildren Patrick Conway, Adam (Shelly) Armitage-Conway, and Kathleen (John) Brough; Malcolm (Ana) MacMillan and Philip (fiance Cass) MacMillan; John MacMillan and David MacMillan; and one great-grandson, Zachary Armitage. He will be greatly missed by his brother Alan (and wife Phyllis) of Vancouver B.C. and his sister Kathleen Gee (and husband Eric) of Victoria B.C.; six nieces and nephews; and a host of friends, associates, and neighbours. Pat graduated from UBC in 1939 with a degree in Applied Science (Engineering). Before his marriage to Alice (nee Gerow) in October, 1942, he worked underground for Cariboo Gold Quartz in wells and Barkerville, B.C. Following their marriage he enlisted in the RCAF as an Aircraftsman Second Class, an "Acey-Deucey," and flew coast phatrols in Cansos and Catalinas both on the West Coast and out of the base at Goose Bay, Labrador, rising to the rank of Flight Engineer by war's end. After brief postwar employment with a civil engineering firm in Vancouver, Pat returned to his first love, mining. In the years that followed, the growing family moved to Elsa and Carmacks in the Yukon, to Taku in northern B.C. and Spillimacheen in the East Kootenays,, back to premier in northern B.C. and finally to the Sudbury area in 1953, where Pat was employed by Falconbridge, latterly at Hardy Mine/Onaping, until his retirement in 1978. Pat and Alice made one further move, to Arnprior, in 1995. Pat was a cherished son and brother, a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a good companion. We will miss his common sense, good humour, good manners, and generosity; his love or reading and travel, his enjoyment of family gatherings, his wide-ranging interests and information. Yvonne was a proud parishioner of the St. Columba's Anglican Church in Toronto and of St. Peter's Anglican Church in Calgary. Her favourite song was "The Rose" and she enjoyed reading and listening to all types of music, but her biggest passion was growing plants. Yvonne is survived by her loving sisters and brothers-in-law, Veronica and Clarence David and Norma and Raphael Edwards; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Valney and Francine Francis and Aston and Jean Francis. She will also be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Myrna, Carl, Terry, Cheryl, Rodney, Dalmain, Amber, Alex, Leigh, Chanda and Marlon, as well as extended family and many dear friends near and abroad. Yvonne was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Agatha Francis. CHARTRAND, Sylvio - We regret to announce the death of Sylvio Chartrand on Tuesday, April 1 at the Timmins & District Hospital at the age of 81. He is survived by his spouse Thérèse of Kapuskasing; two sons Yvon companion of Brigitte of Cochrane and Gilbert of Kapuskasing; one daughter, Gaëtanne Chartrand wife of Raymond of Kapuskasing, three sisters, Rhéa Foisy and Jeannine Fleury all of Timmins and Marie-Claire Menard-Demers of Gatineau; one brother, Réjean Chartrand of Timmins; as well as four grandchildren, Julie, Alain, Liana and Joey. He was predeceased by four infant children, Lorraine, André, Mona and Luc; two sisters, Reine-Aimée Boutin and Oriance Portugie and one brother, Germain Chartrand. The funeral service was held on Saturday, April 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculée- Conception church with Father Gilles Gosselin officiating. Cremation to follow at Hillcrest crematorium. TAISH, Diana (Peggy). Died in London, Ontario, on March 29, 2008, two weeks short of her ninety-fifth birthday. She was a wonderful lady, born in England, who came to Montreal as the war bride of James Howard in 1945. Mother of Patricia and Brian, John and Irena and Sally and Nick. Diana will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who knew her treasured her intellect and compassion. DYCK, Barbara “Barb” - It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Barbara Ann Dyck (nee Cosby) passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday April 4, 2008, at the age of 66. Dearly beloved wife of Douglas Dyck for 46 years. Devoted mother of Brent Dyck and his wife Lesley Vree, of Barrie, ON, Bryan Dyck and his wife Emma Barton of Osaka Japan, and Susie Dyck and her spouse Donnie Wright, of Niagara Falls. A wonderful cherished grandmother of Brianna and Liam Kennedy, Madison and Hunter Wright, and Joshua Vree. Dearly loved by brothers Bill Cosby, of Linwood, and Calvin Cosby and his wife Beckie of Chase B.C. and sister Loretta and her husband Edwin Burke, of Niagara Falls. Also many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother Elizabeth (Betty) Cosby (March 23, 2008) and father Stanley L. Cosby (December 12, 1968). Barbara was born in Niagara Falls and Attended Stamford. She married in Saskatoon Sask. in 1961 and returned here in 1962. She traveled and worked for the Ontario Jockey Club for 35 years. After retiring in 2006 she became heavily involved in volunteering for the city of Niagara Falls including, The Park in the City, Festival of Lights, Winter Lights, Sparkle Awards, The Nature Club, the Horticultural Society, Communities in Bloom, Schools in Bloom and Trillium Awards. Barbara enjoyed planting, meetings and people. She enjoyed photography, outings and trips with close cherished friends and family. She will be sadly missed. Barbara left a legacy of sharing, kindness and caring for which she will be remembered forever by all who knew her. POSCENTE, Kazimiera "Kay" 1924 - 2008 Mrs. Kazimiera "Kay" Poscente passed away on Friday, April 4, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Kay was the sixth of seven children born May 2, 1924 in Rudnik, Poland to Michael and Antonia Grabek. The family moved to Canada when Kay was four years old, settling in Nordegg, AB, where she grew up. It was in Nordegg where she met her husband of fifty-eight years, Geno, who predeceased her on March 15, 2007. Kay is survived by her children, Vicki (Nick) Manna, Judy, Michael (Michelle) and Lorraine (Dave) Beyak; eight grandchildren, Theresa (James) Couillard, Nicci (Marty) Doyle, Marie (Cam) Manna, Ryan Beyak, Phillip, Nicholas, Chantal and Luke Poscente; as well as five great-grandchildren, Peter, Samantha, Matt, Brandon and Kurtis. Kay is also survived by her sister Elsie Bifano and sisters-in-law Julia Blasetti and Dora Grabek; as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada and Poland.
