WALL, DOUGLAS EDWARD The death of Doug Wall occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 1st, 2008. Born in Truro, NS, he was the son of the late John and Audrey (Wentzel) Wall. Doug is also predeceased by his sister, Patricia Tremholm. Surviving Doug is his wife, Shirley Wall; his three children, Bruce Wall of Brampton, ON, Martin Wall of Truro, NS and Darcy Wall of Oromocto, NB; three grandchildren, Gregory, Joshua and Jeremy Wall; brother-in-law, Vance (Carol) Stright of Waasis, NB; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Boyd) Leeworthy of Dieppe, NB; and mother-in-law, Lilian Stright. Doug served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 32 years at various locations such as Shilo, Winnipeg, Gagetown, Valcartier, Germany before retiring in 1986 as a CWO in Ottawa, ON. PETERS, John - Passed away in the presence of his family on March 30, 2008. Born June 27, 1929 in Marienthal, Russia to Maria (1937) and Heinrich (1955) Peters. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (1997). Surviving are his children Henry (Kathy) of Stoney Creek and Art (Carol), Helmut (Barb), Willy (Sheila), Harold (Penny) all of St. Catharines/Niagara. Grandfather of Chris, Lauren, Christie, Collin, Kevan, Heather, Marcie, Michelle and Kelly. Great Opa to Riley. Also survived by siblings, Maria (Henry 2007) Heidebrecht, Nick (Anna) Tessman and Lydia (John) Penner all of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was predeceased by a brother Heinrich (1944) and stepmother Anna (1995). John's working years were spent at Sheldon Plumbing and Heating. In his retirement years John enjoyed his family, traveling and tending to his garden. JOHN FRANK SULLIVAN February 19, 1921 - March 29, 2008 Peacefully at the Huronia District Hospital, March 29, 2008 at the age of 87. Beloved husband for 64 years of Pansy Joyce. Loved and missed by daughter Patricia and her husband Jack Goodfellow. Survived by brother Tom Sullivan of Toronto, sister Maureen Asquith of Barrie and many nieces and nephews. John was born in Dublin, Ireland and immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of four. He served in the RCAF during WWII and married Pansy in 1944 while stationed in Vancouver. After working in the aircraft industry, John founded his own company, Quality Aluminum Castings, in Brampton. John retired to the Midland area and enjoyed a productive retirement hobby-farming, horse racing, playing pool and the stock market. Special thanks to the caring staff of One North at the Huronia District Hospital for making his last days comfortable. CORAN, Helen Alexandra Rosetta 2008-04-02 Peacefully, on April 1, 2008, Helen passed away in her 90th year. MONTEITH, KATHLEEN The passing of Kathleen Monteith of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Monday, March 31, 2008 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on March 9, 1908 in North Devon; she was the daughter of the late James and Anne (Davidson) Monteith. Kathleen was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church, where she was a past member of the Altar Guild. Kathleen retired from the Provincial Government in 1958. Kathleen is survived by; nieces, Eleanor Stillwell of Fredericton, NB, Dorothy Ayer of Edmonton, AB, Ruby MacNabb of Woodstock, NB, Shirley Hovey (Gordon) of Fredericton, NB, Nancy Costall (Doug) of Okotoks, AB and Ann Corbett (Robert) of Fredericton, NB; several grand nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her sister, Maude McNeil; and brother, Howard Monteith. WHITTAKER, DAVID JAMES - David James Whittaker of Sand Brook, N. B. passed away at the Saint John Regional, after a courageous battle with cancer, on April 1, 2008 at the age of 64. John was born in Saint John on February 28, 1964, a son of Barb Roberts and Charles J. Roberts (Gladys). LEVINE, HARRY - Harry Levine died peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton on April 1, 2008. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Edith Levine; his daughter, Rhona (Allen); his sons, Ivan (Lios), and Peter (Heather); his seven grandchildren, Alana, Julie (Jordan), Andrew (Marlene), Robert (Amanda) and Lyle, Logan and Chloe Levine of Toronto; his great grandchildren, Yacov Lewis of New York City, Hallie, Mitchell and Layla Rodney and Ashley Levine of Toronto, and several nieces and nephews. Harry was born on August 12, 1918 in Fredericton, New Brunswick to the late Bessie and Abe Levine. He is survived by one brother, Weldon (Joan) Levine of Toronto and was predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Jack. Harry attended school in Fredericton before joining his father at Abe Levine & Sons, a multi-national business. He was President of Levine's Department Store for close to 50 years. Harry enjoyed being involved in local organizations and was President of B'nai Brith, Sgoolai Israel Synagogue, Chair of Israel Bond Drive and the United Jewish Appeal. He was President of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce and "fundraiser extraordinaire" for the Rotary Club, Salvation Army, Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, the YMCA, and was one of the first organizers of FHS Safe Grad. His enthusiastic support of the community knew no bounds as he received such joy and pleasure in each and every endeavor. He received many awards and recognition for his service work and business acumen, including being one of the first recipients of the Fredericton Distinguished Citizens Award, the Governor General Award for Volunteering, and the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award. He was honoured to accept the distinguished Paul Harris Fellowship Award, not once but twice, in recognition of a lifetime of unrelenting service to the Fredericton community. As a family, we will miss his unconditional love, his ever-present wise counsel and his zest for humor. The community will remember his generosity of spirit and his great love of music and living life to the fullest. JENNINGS, ROBERT ELLIS - The death of Robert Ellis Jennings of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Thursday, March 27th, 2008. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of Edward and Louise (Colin) Jennings and the husband of Winnifred (Blackwell) Jennings. Robert Ellis was an Electrical Engineer having worked at Westinghouse for 25 years, and with the Public Works Department, Federal Government as head of Illuminations for 14 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and of The Royal Arch Mason. Robert will be greatly missed as a husband, father, grandfather and friend. Survived by his wife, Winnifred; two sons, R. Manon (Ashby) Beaulieu Manon (Ashby) Beaulieu, of Moncton, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 27th, 2008 at the Meadow Park Nursing Home in Chatham Ontario following a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Born May 25th, 1971, she was the daughter of Jean Beaulieu of Saint John, NB and Denyse Pelletier of Moncton, NB. Manon touched the heart of everyone who knew her with her beautiful smile, a great sense of humor and her love of life. She will be sadly missed by her mom and dad; her two children, Jonathan and Joshua (Ashby) of London Ontario; her sister, Mona Hamilton (Brian), and extended family. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the management, caregivers and friends at the nursing home for their kindness and love for Manon over the past seven years. EVANS, David Richard January 4, 1915 - March 28, 2008 David Evans, beloved husband of Betty, passed away peacefully at Foothills Hospital on Friday, March 28, 2008, surrounded by his family. Dave will be lovingly remembered by Betty, his wife of fifty-seven years, his daughter Gail, her husband Chris Mothersele, their children Shawn and Sarah, and his son Dr. Wayne Evans, wife Maggie, their sons Arthur and Matthew, as well as many other family members. He was predeceased by his brother Glyn and his sisters Eluned and Gladys. Dave was born in Provost, AB, brought up in nearby farming district of Edgerton, AB and graduated from Vermilion College of Agriculture. He moved to Britain in 1938, and built Hawker Hurricane fighter planes, in London, which was a reserved occupation during early WWII. He returned to Canada in 1940 and continued work in the aircraft construction industry with Vickers and Boeing, prior to joining the RCAF, where he immediately became an aircraft inspector. His interest in mechanics continued throughout his life as he tinkered with engines of many types. After the war, he returned to Alberta and worked for the Alberta Seed Growers and met the love of his life, Betty, in Edmonton. Dave was appointed Superintendent of Operations in the Peace River Area for the Seed Growers. He and Betty moved to Peace River after they were married in 1950. Dave, Betty and children moved to Edmonton, prior to his transfer to Calgary with the Alberta Wheat Pool in 1960. Always interested in learning, Dave worked towards his RIA designation in Accounting, which led him to a new career path with the Federal Government until he retired in 1975. He continued his interest in the financial world and participated actively in financial markets well into his retirement. He always loved the outdoors, was involved in many sports including hiking, camping, skiing, curling, swimming and golfing. He was also an avid bridge player and voracious reader. Other favourite activities were square dancing with the Gadabouts and dancing with the Gliders at Confederation Park Seniors Centre and activities with the Second Sixties and the Welsh Society. Dave and Betty travelled extensively to New Zealand and Australia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, in addition to many trips to Britain and throughout North America, spending time with many old and new friends. A celebration of Dave's life will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Northmount Baptist Church, 451 Northmount Drive N.W., Calgary. His family would like to thank the staff at the Colonel Belcher Care Centre and Foothills Hospital for the care and attention Dave received. SHEWCHENKO, Ahafia (nee Mauorek). Passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Institut Canadien Polonais at the age of ninety-seven years. Beloved wife of the late Alexey. Loving mother of Alexander (Lia). Cherished by her grandchildren Peter (Julie), Nicholas (Nomie), Nadia (Bruno) and Michael (Ashaw). She will be missed by her great grandchildren Philippe, Louis, Alexandra, Sacha and Arianna. Rene enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing and snowmobiling. He loved to fly and was skilled at building and piloting light aircraft. Rene leaves a wonderful legacy of love and laughter for his family and friends. MUISE, David Ian - In loving memory of David Ian Muise, 54 years, who passed away peacefully Monday, March 31st, 2008 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site after a 3 year battle with leukemia. Beloved partner and best friend of Lori Johnston of Sudbury. Survived by his parents Raymond “Mummy“ Muise and Evangeline (nee Comeau) Muise of Coniston, brothers Gary Muise and Pete Muise (Madeleine) of Coniston and his two boys Jeff Muise currently working in China and Scott Muise of Sudbury. Uncle to Karen, Melanie and Matthew. David's favourite memory is of growing up in the bleachers at Red Sox field in Coniston where he could buy a coke and fries for a quarter, watched his Dad pitch and coach ball and where he played fastball and slo- pitch himself for many years until his illness slowed him down. Many will remember Dave playing slo-pitch with the boys at Royal Bank, the Coniston Oldtimers league and refereeing men's hockey. Dave loved to golf, curl, hunt and fish and spent many years hunting on Manitoulin with his favourite outdoorsman, his Dad. Dave will be missed by his buddy Rick Lavoie and his wife Gwen, his stepsons Matt, Greg and Gordie Wood and his dog Zoe.
