RAMEY, Peter Marcellus - Left this world peacefully on March 31, 2008 at the PRHC Palliative Care Unit, aged 78 years. Peter was born January 18, 1930 in Cobalt, Ontario. Loving husband of Margaret (Friesen) for 58 years. Devoted father to Kathleen Ramey-Hoy (Alan), David (Rosemary) and Susan. Proud “Gramps“ to Matthew and Daniel Hoy, Peter, Elizabeth and Lauren Ramey. Lovingly remembered by sisters Mary Ramey of Toronto, Joan Bouchard of London, Monica Evelegh of Dundas, and brother Noel Ramey of New Liskeard. Peter is predeceased by his parents, Kathryn (Kelter) and Harry Ramey, two brothers, Pilot Officer Lyman Ramey, and John Ramey. Peter was proud to say that he was from Cobalt, the famous mining town, and enjoyed his youth there. He eventually worked for Mutual Life Assurance Company, and retired from that Company after a very successful 45- year career. Peter was Branch Secretary of the Peterborough Mutual Life office, and later chose to become an Agent. He finished his career with Mutual as one of their top agents. He cared deeply for his many clients, and always looked to their best interests. Peter had many personal interests, but his passion was politics. He was a lifelong Liberal and was very active in local campaigns throughout his life in Peterborough. Peter was also active with many local groups and associations for which he volunteered his time and talents. Peter will be remembered by his distinguished and gentle manner, and his great sense of humour. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 859 Barnardo Avenue, Peterborough on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. Those who wish to express their condolences but are unable to attend the mass are welcome to meet with the family during the hour before the service at the church. MACDONALD, John H. Bowdoinham, ME, John H. MacDonald, age 69, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at a Brunswick hospital. He was born in Primrose, P.E.I., Canada, on April 23, 1938, a son of Neil D. and Mary Gardiner MacDonald. His family moved to the United States in the mid 1950s, where he continued to live in the Boston area until moving to Maine in 1976. He married Bonnie A. Rancourt in Brunswick in August of 1990. Mr. MacDonald was self-employed as a building contractor most of his life and was a skilled woodworker. He was an avid outdoorsman and appreciated all that nature had to offer; he was a hunter, a fisherman, enjoyed hiking in the woods and spending time at his camp on Moosehead Lake. He was very knowledgeable about different plant and animal species and looked forward to his time with his grandchildren and the chance to impart his love and wisdom of nature to them. He was a New England Patriots fan, and pleasured in living vicariously through his grandchildren’s participation in ice hockey, which he had also enjoyed in his childhood. Mr. MacDonald was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Brunswick. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Kenny; a sister, Jean Poulin; a brother, Alfred MacDonald. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Bowdoinham; a daughter, Deborah Duncan and her husband Tom, of Georgetown, P.E.I., Canada; a brother, Wallace MacDonald and his wife Harriet, of Primrose, P.E.I.; three sisters, Frieda Collins and her husband Charlie, of Hamilton, Ontario, Josephine Hadden and her husband, Bill, of Summerside, P.E.I.; Ann Gallant and her husband Johnny of Winsloe, P.E.I.; a stepson, Douglas Doyer and his wife, Roxanne of Mechanic Falls; a sister-in-law, Glenda MacDonald of Montague, P.E.I.; five grandchildren, John and Morgan Duncan of Mechanic Falls; Alexandra, Olivia, Victoria Doyer of Georgetown, P.E.I.; a host of nieces and nephews. RAY, Patrick (Pat) Anthony Died March 30, 2008 after a short, but courageous fight with cancer. As in life, Pat remained upbeat and kept his sense of humour throughout. Pat is survived by his cherished wife Jane (Hoey), his loving son Dillon and their family pet, Harp. He will be dearly missed by his adoring parents Robert Anthony and Beverly Ray, beloved siblings Sue Ann Ray-Spicer (Neil), Darcy Ray (Kathleen), Nancy Ray, Tina Keohane (Tom) all from Ottawa, and Rob S. Ray (Court) of Toronto. Dear son-in-law of Geraldine and (late) Bernard Hoey of Ottawa, brother-in-law of Patrick Hoey (Sue) of Newmarket, and Mary Anne Malis (Greg) of Ottawa. Uncle Pat will be sadly missed by his 14 wonderful nieces and nephews, and lovingly remembered by his many cousins, aunts, uncles and in-laws. Born May 18, 1960 in Ottawa, Pat lived in Marville, France, Belleville, Trenton, Ottawa, and Toronto, and held a career with the Federal Government. BASTIEN, R.H. (Bob). 1946-2008. Son of Georges and Evelyn. After a long courageous battle with cancer, Bob passed away peacefully on March 28, at Mount Sinai Palliative Hospital. OBITUARY DR. MICHAEL J. CRIPTON 1934-2008Dr. Michael John Cripton seventy-three, died at ProTem Health Services, Gorge Rd. Moncton on March 27, 2008. Born in Montreal he was the son of the late John and Veronika (Tkachuk) Cripton. Dr. Cripton's first passion was in helping others. This ability first came to the fore when - as a boy of nine - he was placed in the Weredale boy's home of Montreal after his father (a Ukrainian-immigrant labourer) died and his family dissolved. He became a central part of the school and he was placed in a supervisory role at a young age. He often referred to the experiences and struggles that he had with the younger children (and children his own age and older) at Weredale at stages such as bedtime and lights out. His own children benefited from this wisdom at bedtimes! He clearly experienced the first pulls towards his lifelong passions of mentorship, leadership and volunteerism at Weredale. He remained involved at Weredale as a resident and councilor until his graduation from Dental School at McGill in 1957. He went on to practice general dentistry in Fredericton where he met his wife Nancy. After their marriage he returned to Montreal to study Orthodontics and then he moved to Moncton in 1961, becoming the second Orthodontist in the province of NB at that time. He was a passionate volunteer in his chosen profession of dentistry, where he held many professional, administrative and leadership roles in national and international professional organizations and governing bodies. He served as President of the Canadian and New Brunswick Dental Associations, President of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists and President of the Royal College of Dentistry of Canada. He was also active in international dental organizations including acting as President of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, delegate to Federation Dental International meetings and he chaired the Atlantic section of the American Academy of Dentists. Not surprisingly, one of the skills he was proudest of was his ability to run effective meetings! This was a reflection of his desire to accomplish all that could be accomplished in whatever he did. No task was too daunting for him whether professional or personal and this was the spirit he brought to all of his work. These many organizations and their memberships, and all the people that worked with him benefited from this spirit and his ability to inject it into his leadership roles. Mike was equally passionate about volunteering, helping and leading in civic duty and community service. He served as President of the Moncton Boys Club, Chairman of the National council of Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and he was active in fundraising for these organizations. He was a fundraiser for the Easter Seal Campaign, President of the Moncton Rotary club (and had perfect attendance there for 43 years), a District Governor of Rotary and a Provincial President of the McGill University Alumni Association. He loved hockey and served on the Executive Committee of the New Brunswick Hawks. He was a bilingual Councilor at Large of the Moncton City Council from 1970 to 1974 and later served as chair of the 8000 seat Moncton Coliseum Commission. He was active in local business as well co-founding C103 FM in 1988. His contributions have been recognized by many awards such as the top Pierre Fauchard Academy award, and Distinguished service awards from the Canadian Dental and Orthodontic Associations. He was awarded the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal in 1977 and the Builder of Youth award from the Moncton Boys and Girls Club. His greatest enjoyment and likely what he considered to be the greatest of these many honors he enjoyed until the time of his death, being "Boppy" to his seven grand children. He is survived by his wife of 49 1/2 years, Nancy (Green) Cripton; son Michael, Halifax; daughter Mary, Halifax; son Peter (Cara Inglis) Vancouver; son David (Nadia Jenefsky) New York; and son-in-law Harry Fitzgerald (Halifax); sister Jennie Larose and her husband Jacques of St. Jean de Richelieu, QC; and seven beloved grandchildren; Veronika and Max Fitzgerald; Hana, Cara, and Sasha Cripton-Inglis; Benjamin and Stella Cripton. He was predeceased by brothers Steve, George, and Billy. Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, April 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Mike's life will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 1005 Main Street, Moncton, NB. Joseph S. Isiah 1927 - 2008 Miramichi - Joseph Samuel Isiah, husband of Edith Isiah, of Air Force Crescent, of the Miramichi Retirement Community, passed away at the Dr. George Dumont Hospital, in Moncton, on Monday evening, at the age of 80. Born in Fredericton, on June 13, 1927, he was the son of the late Charles and Rose (Napke) Isiah. He was a self employed businessman, involved in various endeavors over his working career, primarily construction and retail businesses. He attended St. Michaels Basilica, Miramichi and was a 4th Degree Member of the Bishop Hill Assembly, #1219, Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, the former Edith Henderson; five daughters, Joanne Isiah (Rajesh), of Toronto, Ont., Judy Foran (Larry), of Halifax, N.S., Rita Lombard (Don), of Riverview, Cathy McCormack (Chris), of Miramichi, Rosemary Isiah (Danny), of Porters Lake, N.S.; one son, Joseph Isiah Jr. (Rachel), of Oshawa, Ont.; one step daughter, Julie Smith (Leslie), of Oromocto; one step son, James Dunnett (Carrie), of Misson, B.C.; one sister, Mary Jordon (Michael), of Enfield, N.S.; two brothers, George Isiah (Mavis), of Miramichi and David Isiah (Debbie), of Red Deer, Alberta; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews.
