JAMISON, Jane Steele 1917 - 2008 Jane Steele Jamison passed away at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary with her family by her side on Saturday, March 8, 2008. Born in Nanton, raised in Rosebud, she attended Normal School in Calgary and taught at Fallen Timber, Reid Hill, and taught in Vulcan for many years. RANDALL, Ethel Letitia (nee Askew) November 2, 1914 - March 7, 2008 Our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on March 7, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Ethel is survived by her husband, Ernest and their children, Linda (Ed) Mackoway, Melva Randall, and Don (Kim) Randall; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends. MOORE, Ileene May 11, 1924 - March 9, 2008 Ileene Moore passed away the morning of Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Foothills Hospital with the love of her family surrounding her. Ileene was born and raised in Calgary, the daughter of Frederick Hamilton Lepper and Elizabeth Violet Lepper. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, her best friend and loving partner, John "Jack" Moore. Together, they explored the mountains, cycling and hiking from their retirement home in Canmore, and in later years took these passions to Arizona for the winter so they could stay active all year round. Mom loved nothing more than to have her family around her, embracing all of us with her caring and warmth. In addition to her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss, more than words can say, her children Maureen Moore (David Scobie), Michael Moore (Kathy Moore), Kathryn Moore (Brad Wiese); her beloved grandchildren Taryn and Evan Motter, Callum and Stephen Moore, Brittany and Liam Wiese and her sister Betty Kent. Rev. Alexander James Farquhar, 81, native of Brooklyn, Hants County, Nova Scotia, son of the late Judge Hiram and Eva (Dimock) Farquhar, died in Halifax on Sunday, March 9th, 2008. He leaves his beloved wife of 58 years, Glennis (Lamb), Halifax; a brother, Rev. Hugh (Claudette), Riverview, NB; sons, Alec (Kathleen McDonnell), Toronto, Dr. James (Liliane Sayegh), Montreal, and Dr. Donald (Dr. Kathryn Myers), London; daughters, Sarah (Randy Sutherland), Guelph, Megan (David Graves), Halifax, Anaya (Donald Carrier), Stratford, and Katherine (Robert Lalonde), Scarborough; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. As a young man, he was an outstanding varsity athlete who excelled at track, basketball, football and baseball. He graduated from Dalhousie University in 1947 and from Pine Hill Divinity Hall in 1951. After ordination in the United Church of Canada, he was called to a succession of pastorates in Nova Scotia (Lockeport, Baddeck, Sydney River, and St. Matthew's, Halifax), Ontario (First-St. Andrew's, London), and Quebec (St. Andrew's-Dominion Douglas, Montreal), concluding his full-time ministry at Zion United Church, Liverpool, NS in 1991. As a member of the United Church Committee on Christian Faith, he helped to craft the United Church Creed in 1968. At the 23rd Plenary Assembly of the Canadian Jewish Congress in 1992, Alex was presented with an Award of Merit in recognition of devoted leadership in the cause of the liberation of Soviet Jewry. Throughout his ministry he exemplified the blend of personal faith and social action. MOCCIO, Egidio “Gene“ - Passed away peacefully, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Sunday, March 9th, 2008 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Rose Marie (Sabo) (1998). Loving father of Leonard (Kathy) of Welland and Paul (Maureen) of St. Catharines. Dear grandfather of Stephan (Kristen), Eric (Lori), Jeffery (Dodi), Cynthia, Devon, Colin and Keira. Great grandfather of Emily, Isabella, Sebastien, Elle and Xavier. Survived by his brother Albert (Carmel) and sister-in-law Victoria. Predeceased by his sister Antoinette (Joe) Luciani, brothers Augustine (Thelma), Michael (Marian), Angelo and Nicholas (Joyce). Gene was a long time member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Thorold and was instrumental in seeking Holy Rosary Church Hall to be built. He was also a member of the church choir, a lay reader and a Eucharistic Minster. Gene was a former member of Thorold Separate School Board (18 years) and Welland County Separate School Board (2 years). Past Faithful Navigator of Monsignor Morris Assembly 0864 4th Degree St. Catharines and Past Grand Knight of Sacred Heart Council 2319 Thorold (1979). He was a former member of the Thorold Reed Band and very active in Thorold sports in the 1930's. He was employed with Ontario Paper until his retirement. The family will receive friends at the HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. WRIGHT, Darcel Lavinia - 41, daughter of Clarence Wright, Beechville, and the late Viola (Thomas-Harris) Wright (East Preston), passed away quietly the morning of Wednesday, March 5, 2008, in Scarborough General Hospital, Scarborough, Ont. She was a proud, loving mother, a nurturing aunt, a loyal sister, a respecting relative, a trustworthy friend, a competitive athlete, and a consummate professional. She was grace, dignity and beauty personified, a woman of kind heart and of genuine laughter. She loved her life and she loved the people who were a part of it. She resided in Toronto for 22 years, was a Ryerson University alumna and was inducted into their hall of fame. She worked as a sports consultant with the Ontario Department of Tourism and Recreation and was extensively involved in the basketball community in Ontario. Predeceased by parents John Campbell and Minnie Barrie, brother Eric Campbell and sister Jean McGregor. Survived by sister-in-law Eileen Campbell. Sadly missed by nieces Bonnie Mask (Brian) and Gladys Sidock (Doug) and families. Resting at the McPhail & Perkins Funeral Home, 85 Munro Ave. at Lorne, Renfrew, on Tuesday, March 11 from 12 noon to 1:45 p.m., where the funeral will be conducted in the chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev. OBITUARY BERNARD (BERNIE) MATTIE Bernard (Bernie) Mattie passed away peacefully in the company of his family on Sunday, March 9, 2008 in Montreal at the age of sixty-two. Loving husband of 40 years to Diane and caring father of Carol (Anibal), Connie (Karl), Donna (Mike), Theresa (Paulo), Tammy (Kevin) and proud grandfather to Michael, Jessica, Haley, Jake, Ryan, Emily, Dylan, Brent, Olivia, Kelly and Amy. He also leaves to mourn brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Oncology department at Notre-Dame hospital with a special thank-you to Dr. Colombe, Dr. Tibet and their team as well as the palliative care unit for the special care received. Following the passing of her husband, Vince, Eunice left St. Lambert, QC and moved to Calgary, AB to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
