BRADLEY, AUSTIN GERARD (April 9th, 1931 - February 3rd, 2008. Austin passed away peacefully, with family at his side. Born in Saint John, he has resided in Winnipeg, MB for a number of years. He was predeceased by his parents, Austin and Alice (Murray) Bradley and sister, Bernice MacDonald of Edmonton, AB. He will be sadly missed by his sons, Roger (Tammie), Gerry and daughter of his heart, Trish (Ward); six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Shirley) of Hampton, NB; sisters, Viola Ste Marie of Montreal and Dolores Lamont of Centreville, NB, along with numerous nieces and nephews. His quick wit and infectious smile will be missed by all. A celebration of Austin's life was held on February 8th, 2008, at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, Winnipeg. February 12, 2008

CORY, Grenville David May 31, 1951 - February 8, 2008 Grenville David P. Cory, beloved husband of Karen, passed away surrounded by family after a three-and-a-half year courageous battle with cancer after receiving a stem cell transplant from his brother Philip and numerous chemo treatments. He leaves behind his son Sean Cory (Melanie Watt), daughter Chrystal Cory (Jamie Hoskins), son Paul McCormick and daughter Cheryl McCormick. He also leaves behind his mother Beth, brother Philip and sister Lesley all of England, who are deeply saddened by his passing and will remember him fondly for his profound wisdom, quick wit and caring attention to his family. Gren was predeceased by his father Phil Cory and brother David Cory. Gren was a proud grandfather of Owen and Dylan Cory, Logan and Summer Hoskins and Jordan Schmidt. Gren was born and raised in Liverpool, England. He attended Waterloo Grammar School for his senior years. Shortly after he moved to Canada in 1969 where he met Karen and was married in 1973. His greatest passion was soccer. He leaves behind many close friends in the soccer community. He also loved to be home where he carried out his love for gardening and woodworking. Gren never lost his feisty attitude and was admired by many for his amazing courage and strength. The family would like to thank the staff from the BMT Clinic at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for all their support and dedication to Gren. MALIN, William Kenneth "Bill" June 13, 1937 - February 9, 2008 Bill Malin, beloved husband of Alice of Calgary, passed away with his loving family by his side on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the age of 70. He was born in Calgary, AB on June 13, 1937. Bill attended elementary school at Grand Trunk, middle school at Hillhurst, and high school at Crescent Heights. He was employed by the City of Calgary for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1992 as Supervisor of District Eight Streets. Bill grew up in West Hillhurst, where he also chose to raise his family. He was a dedicated member of the community, volunteering many hours to the sports programs. One of Bill's greatest pleasures throughout his life was camping with his family and many friends. Bill will be greatly missed by his loving wife Alice Malin, and their four children Gary (Toni Mastrofrancesco), Valerie (Russell Murphy), Sandra (Cameron Longeway), Rob (Wendy Schindeler), and his grandchildren, Chantal and Joseph Murphy, Jana and Lucas Malin, Samantha and Devin Longeway, Maija and Callie Malin. Bill is survived by his two sisters Shirley (Frank Lammerth) and Darlene (Tom Campbell), his sisters-in-law, Marny and Eileen and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, his sister Joyce Miller and his brothers Don and Les. CÔTÉ, Frère Raoul, F.É.C. 1921 - 2008 Frère Raoul Côté, de la communauté des Frères des écoles chrétiennes, est décédé à l'hôpital Sacré-Coeur de Montréal, le 7 février 2008, à l'âge de 86 ans et 8 mois. Fils d'Achille Côté et de Rébecca Côté, il naquit à St-Amable, le 30 mai 1921. Entré chez les F.É.C. en 1937, il se dévoua à l'éducation des jeunes à Lachine, Montréal (Maisonneuve), East Angus, Longueuil, St-Joseph de Sorel et Varennes (Collège St-Paul). Il était retraité à la Résidence De La Salle de Laval depuis 1998. Il laisse dans le deuil, outre les membres de sa famille religieuse, ses deux soeurs, Mme Marie-Rose Dionne-Côté et Soeur Marie-Ange Côté, o.p. Il laisse aussi plusieurs neveux, nièces et amis. Exposé le mardi 12 février, à compter de 15 h (prière communautaire à 19 h 30) et le lendemain, à compter de 13 h à la Résidence De La Salle 300, chemin du bord-de-l'eau, Laval Les funérailles auront lieu au même endroit, le mercredi 13 février à 14 h. McILVENA, William Donald September 24, 1929 - February 5, 2008 Bill McIlvena passed away at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary after a long illness on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the age of 78 years. He put up a good fight. Bill was born in Lethbridge and moved to Calgary as a young boy. For most of his life, Bill worked in the plumbing wholesale industry, managing branches of Westburne Ltd. in both Lethbridge and Calgary. But family was always his priority and he spent many happy times skiing, camping, fishing, and travelling with his "girls". He also enjoyed gardening, curling and rooting for the Stamps. Bill is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Nora; two daughters, Karen (John Chaves) and Joanne; and two grandsons, Michael Chaves and Cameron Chaves. He is also survived by one brother Hugh and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Among his many surviving nieces and nephews, Bill was particularly close to Noreen (John) Buckley and her family. He was predeceased by his sisters Elaine and Lorna. FLEUR DE MAI, CHRISTINE ET MARILOU ont le regret de vous annoncer le décès de ROBERT LAFRENIÈRE décédé le 9 février 2008, âgé de 73 ans. Vaillant commerçant de plus de 38 ans, il a joui d'une belle vie comblée remplie d'humour et ce, jusqu'à ses derniers commentaires. Il laisse sa femme Fleur de Mai (Céré) qu'il a tendrement aimée et avec laquelle il a partagé plus de 53 ans de bonheur aux mains de ses filles chéries, Christine (André Renaud) et Marilou qu'il a choyées et gâtées depuis leur naissance. Robert était très fier de ses trois petits-enfants: Andréane, sa petite princesse adorée, Dominick dont il était le fan #1 au hockey et enfin Robin, qui était la prunelle de ses yeux et dont il était également le fier parrain. Robert rejoint ainsi son père Alexandre qu'il a tant admiré, sa mère Églantine (Gorley) et son frère Maurice, son complice enjoué, qui ont quitté cette vie avant lui. Il laisse dans le deuil ses frères: Edgar (Hélène), Pierre (Denise), Jean-Marie (Léonie) et André; ses soeurs: Noëlla et Cécile (Sam Jr); ses belles-soeurs: Jeanne D'Arc Rochon, Marguerite Thiffault, Marie-Luce Céré ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Robert avait d'excellents amis qui lui ont témoigné une amitié fidèle et précieuse: Rod et Rollande Mercier, Marcel et Piane Lafrenière, Christian et Élyse Boismenu. De plus, Robert tenait à souligner le professionnalisme du Dr Louis Grondin qui a été, pour lui, un merveilleux docteur de famille ainsi qu'un ami. Un gros merci à Michel Nomingue, infirmier au CHVO, pour sa compassion et les soins prodigués. Son dernier voyage est tel qu'il l'a voulu; laissez les bons souvenirs vous envahir et n'oubliez pas qu'il sera avec nous dans notre coeur et nos pensées. WRZECIONEK, Stefan 2008-02-12 Mr. Stefan Wrzecionek, age 89 years, formerly of Algoma Street, passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with his family by his side, on Sunday, February 10, 2008. Born in Europe in 1918, he emmigrated to Canada in 1950 settling in the area. Stefan first worked in the bush camps and then took a job constructing the elevators at the waterfront. Later, he was employed by Shaw Bakery for sixteen years, and lastly, as a bartender at the Polish Alliance on Court Street until his retirement. He had also served as its President for five years. Stefan enjoyed fishing and duck hunting, and in his younger years, coached the Polish Soccer Team. Stefan will be lovingly remembered by his son Bill (Helen); grandchildren: Andrea and Derek; sisters: Wladysawa and Janka, both in Poland as well as sixteen nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Franciszka; brothers: Stanislaw, Jozef, Wladysawa, and Edward; sisters: Marysia and Helen. Funeral Services for the late Stefan Wrzecionek will be held on Friday, February 15th, 2008, leaving the Harbourview Funeral Centre at 10:30 a.m. for Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary, Our Queen of Poland Roman Catholic Church, 85 North Algoma Street, celebrated by Rev. Ireneusz Stadler. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Vigil Prayers the same evening at 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. O’DONNELL, Judith 2008-02-14 It is with profound sorrow that the passing of Judith May O’Donnell is announced following a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. Judy was born in Port Arthur, Ontario on November 5, 1947. She was the youngest of three children, Jim, Joan and Judy, aka the three J’s. Raised and educated in Fort William, she remained a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay. A strong believer in excellence in education, she pursued post secondary studies at Lakehead Teachers’ College and Lakehead University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts (English) and Bachelor of Education Degrees. Throughout her thirty-one year career with the Fort William and Lakehead District School Boards (McKellar Park-Central, Westmount, Riverdale, Shuniah Schools) she continued her studies achieving her Principal Qualifications and Supervisory Officer Qualifications. For years, Judy was active in professional committees locally and provincially, including Student Teacher Liaison with the Federation of Women Teachers and Teacher Education Advisory Committee with Ontario Teachers’ Federation. She was an original member of ESAA (Elementary School Athletic Association) and a participant for the Writing Team of the Intermediate Family Life and Sex Education Program with the Lakehead Board. In high school Judy participated in many extra-curricular activities (volleyball, basketball, track and field, choir, orchestra, band and student leadership). It followed naturally that she would encourage similar pursuits for her students. These included school and Board level activities in sports, music, drama, Young Travellers’ Programs, Carnivals. It was always with much pride that she enjoyed the many pleasures that her students experienced with these activities. Judy was blessed with a close-knit family which provided many happy childhood memories of family gatherings. She was thrilled to travel to England, Scotland, Belgium and France with her mother and aunt. She equally enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas (most recently October, 2007) with her sister and brother-in-law. Many other "jaunts" offering slots and "Red Lobster" were preferred destinations for short "Getaways" with family and friends, especially Pat Gravelle. Many of these trips were shared with her "Friday Lunch Bunch" and much enjoyed by all. Recounting the activities of each person in the "Selkirk Lunch Bunch" was always something to anticipate, as it was never known who would be the first to tout the wonders of retirement! Those who knew Judy will agree that she was a loving, kind, caring, generous and thoughtful person. She will be so deeply missed. Judy is survived by her devoted sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Harvey Hill, her loving niece, Joanne Hill (Toronto), her caring sister-in-law Dorothy O’Donnell, her kindhearted nephew Kevin O’Donnell (Lesley), great-nephews Bradley and Spencer, great-niece Megan, her loving niece Tracey Hoffman (Arthur) and their son Steven (Louisiana), her gentle niece Shannon O’Donnell (William Bolton) and many cousins locally, across Canada and England. Also left to mourn her passing are many life-long friends and neighbours who meant the world to her and who were such a source of strength, support and encouragement during her illness. Judy was predeceased by her grandparents William and Matilda Godfrey, her parents Roy and Margery O’Donnell, brother Jim O’Donnell, aunt Gertrude Pettit, aunt Florence Agombar as well as other aunts and uncles. A memorial service for Judith O’Donnell will be held at Jenkens Funeral Home on Monday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Deborah Kraft of St. Paul’s Anglican Church officiating. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery on Tuesday, February 19 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined. WALSH, JOAN DOROTHEA The death of Joan Dorothea Walsh of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, February 10th, 2008. Born in St. John's, NL on November 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine (Whittle) Murphy and the wife of the late Edward G. Walsh. Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved knitting, cooking and embroidering; these cherished gifts have graced many homes. A true Newfoundlander, she loved to listen to Irish music, which always had her toes tapping. Joan was the matriarch of the family and one could always count on her to find that special time for everyone. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Survived by two daughters, Mary Walsh and Patricia Walsh both of Fredericton; one son, Edward F. Walsh (Belinda) Marystown, NL; grandchildren, Megan and Stefanie, Alberta; two brothers, Peter Murphy of St. John's NL and William Murphy of Hamilton, ON; three sisters, Catherine "Kay" Landriault (Richard) of Austin TX, Mary Ravenscroft (John) of Rancho Cordova, CA, and Florence Shortall (Paddy) of St. John's NL; special friends, Pat, Lawrence, Sharon, Peter, Marjorie, Betty, Kathy, Eldon, Lisa, Troy and her cats, Madison, Oz and Katie. Predeceased by her parents; husband Edward; one granddaughter, Dawn Marie Walsh; and two brothers, Brian and Pat. DOUCET, Félix Martin "The Cat" DOUCET, Félix Martin "The Cat" - Passed away just before high tide on Sunday, February 10, 2008, in Digby, with a view of the Annapolis Basin and the beaches where he spent a large part of his life. His wife, the former AnnaBelle Prime of Centreville, Digby Co., was by his side. It takes energy, hard work and commitment to raise six children. A very capable man, Félix built his own house at 17 in New Edinburgh. For the next 60 years, he worked in a coffin factory, sold fish, dug clams, ran a clam business supplying restaurants from Digby to Barrington, lobster fished, worked as carpenter, worked on freighters for the American Gypsum Company out of Hantsport, and finally returned to digging clams with his brother Louis before working as a janitor at Weymouth Consolidated. In his spare time, he dug more clams, and when he couldn't fish anymore, watched his children and grandchildren dig them for him. Life began and ended with a view through and of blue. Apart from his wife, Félix leaves behind his children, Lois (Fred) Chislett, Barrie, Ont.; Phillip (Paulette), New Edinburgh; Martin (Joceline), Berwick; Kimberley (Cameron) Potts, Milton, Ont.; Angela Doucette, Portapique; Maxine Doucette, Weymouth; brothers, Neil, Amherst; Urbain, New Edinburgh; Albert, Moncton, N.B.; sister, Agnes Melanson, Saulnierville; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. McNUTT (Peters), Angeline Mary McNUTT (Peters), Angeline Mary - "Our dear little angel" died peacefully at home in Halifax at the age of 103. Having been tenderly cared for by her youngest daughter, Marion Cranston and lovingly supported by her daughters, Alice Leduc and Helen Russell, and her son, Ernest, she left this world to join her beloved husband, Ernest Linwood McNutt (d. 1989), on the anniversary of his birthday; her son, Charles (d.1958), and her grandson, Richard Russell (d.1972). A little lady with a mighty heart, Angie's life centered around her family and the church. Born in L'Ardoise, Cape Breton, in 1904, one of 16 children (not counting nine stepsiblings), she loved to dance. A long-time resident of Halifax's historic hydrostone neighbourhood, Angie raised five children and was adored by her 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren. She was very active in the Liberal Party. Angie was the embodiment of what it means to be a Christian. She was a dedicated member of the Holy Childhood Association and received a plaque honouring 50 years of helping with the missions to third world countries. As an active volunteer with the Red Cross some of her most precious memories were of her work with the mentally challenged. She volunteered with the Sisters of Service, interpreting French at Pier 21 for many years and also gave her time cooking meals for Hope Cottage. In recognition for her work she received the Medal of Merit from the Arch Diocese of Halifax and, in September 2002, she was presented with the Certificate of Faithfulness to St. Joseph's Parish. Her dedication to St. Joseph's was further recognized when her image was used in a stained glass window commissioned to adorn the church. In April 2007 she was honoured by the Catholic Women's League with a medal marking 50 years of service. In addition to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, she is survived by her sister, Mary Bowser, Chezzetcook. Angie will rest in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Halifax. Visitation will be on Friday, February 15, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Saturday, February 16, at 10 a.m. in St. Brendan's Chapel, Stadacona. KEDDIE, A. Stephen December 8, 1938 - February 10, 2008 Stephen Keddie, beloved husband of Evelyn (Ev) Keddie of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2008, after a short battle with Leukemia, at the age of 69 years. Stephen was born and raised in Flin Flon, MB and returned there each summer to enjoy the lake and the family cottage at Denare Beach, SK. Stephen retired from the Calgary Board of Education in 1998, after serving many years in various jobs, finally as principal of the Cluster Schools, Rundle Elementary and Colonel J. Fred Scott Elementary. Stephen enjoyed reading, history and archaeology, collecting "everything", helping Ev with her rock and alpine garden and "puttering" at the cottage. He had so much pride in both Corinne's and Gwen's accomplishments that he never hesitated to brag about them. He brought happiness, great debates and many smiles to those who knew him, and will be missed dearly. TURNBULL: Robert Murray July 31,1918 - February 11, 2008 - It is with great sadness that the families of Robert (Bob) Turnbull announce his peaceful passing at the Leacock Care Centre in Orillia, Ontario. Beloved husband of Mary (McLellan/Siegrist) and predeceased by his first wife Kathleen. Also predeceased by his cherished son Brian (Rosemary) of Orillia. Survived by his loving daughter Kathleen Turnbull of Barrie and stepchildren Jan Regis(Vernon), Eric Siegrist (Debi), Barry Siegrist(Joey) and Stephen Siegrist . Grandfather of Tim and Rod Charleton; and step-grandfather of Elan and Etienne Regis; and great- grandfather of six. Wonderful brother to Margaret Turpin (George - both predeceased) of Cobourg, ON; John (Jackie) of Brantford, ON; Gerald (Bette-predeceased) of Scotland; Norman (Alice - both predeceased) of Ireland; Frank (Lee) of England; and Patrick (predeceased) of Scotland. He will be sadly missed by many other relatives, friends and associates in Canada, the USA and Great Britain. Bob, with his wife Kathleen, son and daughter immigrated to Canada in 1957. He was a skilled metallurgist and initially worked for Canada Castings in Orillia. He went on to become the chief metallurgist of Bartaco Foundry in Orillia and ultimately became a highly respected CEO and Chairman of the Board of Haley Industries in Renfrew, ON. Due to Bob's hard work and competence, Haley Industries became a major success and internationally recognized foundry in the aerospace industry. He served as a director of several associations- Air Industries Assoc. of Canada, American Foundrymens Society, International Magnesium Assoc. and has given technical papers to audiences in Canada, the USA, Germany, Norway, China and Japan. His pastimes included golf, soccer, curling, deep sea fishing, and sailing on his beloved Largo Bay sailboat in the British Virgin Islands. He travelled extensively with his wife Mary to all parts of the world and was fortunate enough to travel on the Queen Elizabeth II four times and the Concorde on several occasions. He was a generous man who loved to work hard, play hard and who always gave 100% to everything he tackled. He will be truly unforgettable. Following cremation, the family will receive friends at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia on Thursday, February 14 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. PICKARD, HILDA M. With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Hilda M. Pickard. Born on December 15, 1915 in Bear Island, NB, she was the only daughter of the late Harvey and Gertrude (Brown) Ingraham. She was a former resident of Keswick, NB, before she moved to Mountain View Lodge, Silverwood. It is here, with family by her side, she passed away peacefully on February 9, 2008. Hilda completed her early education at the Bear Island School. Choosing a career in education, she graduated from Normal School in 1933. She taught four years; one at Bear Island and three at Scotch Lake prior to her 1937 marriage to the late Eugene Pickard and a half year at Mouth of Keswick prior to raising her family. In 1960, Hilda resumed her education acquiring a Teaching Certificate II while teaching for an additional twenty-one years; nine at Mouth of Keswick and twelve at Keswick Ridge Rural School. Hilda was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, Keswick Ridge, NB and was active with the A.C.W. She was also an organist at the United Church, Mouth of Keswick and a member of the Neighborhood Club. Always interested in traveling, she enjoyed trips across Canada, Eastern U.S.A. and one to Europe. Her hobbies included knitting, reading, golfing and vegetable gardening. Hilda is survived by her three sons, Robert Pickard of Keswick, NB, Aubrey (Ruth) Pickard of Keswick Ridge, NB, and Brian Pickard of Douglas, NB; one daughter, Elaine (Beverly) Robertson of Regina, SK; five grandchildren, Kelly (Mike) Monet, Scott Robertson, Kimberley Fitzpatrick, Karen Pickard (Robin Palmer), and Candace Picard; six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Gordon Ingraham and an infant grandson. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. STEADWELL, Derek 2008-02-14 It is with the utmost sadness and regret, the family of Derek Steadwell of Thunder Bay, announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the age of 69. Derek (Dork) was born in Fort William and grew up on Piper Avenue. He played hockey for the Elks Minor and Fort William Canadians under the leadership of Mickey Hennessy. He attended Fort William Collegiate until starting his career at Ontario Hydro at the tender age of 17, from which he retired as Line Supervisor in 1991 after 35 years of service. Derek continued working for various line contractors including Hydro One Remote Communities until age 65. He was an avid NASCAR fan, football fan and a regular participant in the Thursday night Hydro meetings and his recent project finishing his camp at Crow Lake, where he was his happiest. Survived by wife Rosemary, mother Dorothy, brother, Robbie (Fay), brothers-in-law Edward Richard (Wendy), Slip Richard (Tracy), Dac Richard (Cheryl), Louie Richard (Lauren) and sister-in-law Jan Hlady (Bill). Chosen sons Gordie Adams and Mike Gicuk, nephews, Michael (Shelley), Cameron (Lisa), and John (Fil) Steadwell, Jason (Kelly), Keegan, Carson and Jeff Richard and nieces Lorna (Reynald) Tougas, Yvonne, Hilary, Chrissy and Pam Richard, Carrie (Ron) Slusar and Tina (Deryld) Newbold and several great nieces and nephews.
